Frances M. Wright

Vigil service for Frances M. Wright, 77, of Sheridan will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Wright died Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Sheridan Manor. Funeral liturgy will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Stolcis as celebrant. Burial will be in Masonic 8 Section of Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Mrs. Wright was born Sept. 29, 1928, in Kleenburn to Michael and Katherine Tekla (Jyunickoi) Byrtus. She grew up in Sheridan, attended Holy Name Catholic School and was a 1947 graduate of Sheridan High School. She married James Richard Dick Wright in Sheridan in 1948. She was a homemaker while she raised her children. Mr. Wright died in 1978, and Mrs. Wright went to work as a nurse's aide at Sheridan Manor. She retired in 1991. She enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening and being with her family. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include three sons, James B. of Fort Collins, Colo., and Richard and Patrick, both of Sheridan; two daughters, Teresa Hunter of Sheridan and Kathy Trilli of Garden City, Kan.; a sister, Stella Coffman of Sunset, Utah; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Holy Name Catholic Church, 260 E. Loucks St., Sheridan, WY 82801.

Rose Mary Bennick

A Christian Wake Service for Rose Mary Bennick, 77, will be 7 p.m. today at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Mrs. Bennick died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at her Sheridan residence. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Stolcis officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Mrs. Bennick was born July 27, 1928, in Sheridan to Jamers and Agnes (Burgey) Gillis. She was a 1946 graduate of Sheridan High School and attended St. Mary's College. She married Glen E. Bennick on Nov. 27, 1948, in Sheridan. She worked as a medical secretary for many years. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, handwork and making quilts for her children and grandchildren. She volunteered reading to schoolchildren in the Sheridan area and enjoyed spending time with and reading to her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael; two brothers, Roy and James Gillis; and a sister, Ceil Kennedy. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mary Drake and Celia Wallenkamp, both of Sheridan; three sons, Glen and James, both of Sheridan, and Mark of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Mrs. Bill Luckett of Jackson, Miss.; a brother, Neil Gillis of Denver; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Holy Name Catholic School in care of Tara Keep, First Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Elizabeth Lloyd

Elizabeth Lloyd, 90, of Sheridan died Friday, June 9, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Viewing will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Sheridan Elks cemetery. Memorials may be made to Fulmer Public Library's Books on Cassette program or Sheridan Elks Lodge 520 in care of Tara Keep, First Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801, or to Services for the Visually Impaired, 2161 Coffeen Ave., No. 11, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Lyle Leason Niswender

BUFFALO - Lyle Leason Niswender, 60, of Buffalo died Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Johnson County Health Care Center. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today in Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Johnson County Fairgrounds Community Building with the Rev. Joe Jarvis officiating. Burial will be in Willow Grove cemetery with private committal services by Mr. Niswender's family. Memorials may be made to Susie Bowling Lawrence Hospice or to Cancer Research in care of the funeral home, 351 N. Adams, Buffalo, WY 82834.

Williamina Robinson `Mina' Knabb

BUFFALO - Williamina Robinson Mina Knabb, 91, of Buffalo died Saturday, June 10, 2006, in Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo. At the request of her and her family, no services will be held. Arrangements are with Adams Funeral Home.

Stephen DeWitt Rogers

A celebration of the life of Stephen DeWitt Rogers, 69, of Sheridan will be 1 p.m. July 28 at Bear Lodge. Mr. Rogers died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at his residence after a battle with cancer. He was born July 28, 1936, in Sheridan to Dr. Curtis L. and Ernestine Levers Rogers. He was a 1954 graduate of Sheridan High School and a 1961 graduate of Colorado State University-Fort Collins with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was assistant manager of Gambles in Laramie until 1964, when he became manager of one of Wyoming's first Montgomery Ward Catalog and Tire stores in Lander. He opened a Dairy Queen Brazier in Lander in 1967. The name was later changed to Dairy Land. He sold the drive-in in 1974 and returned to Sheridan. He went to work for Ash Creek Mining Co. in July 1976 retiring in 1994. The following year, he oversaw reclamation of the mine. He married Nancy Helvey Burkhart in 1985. They traveled many years in their motor home and spent winters in Mesa, Ariz., starting in 2003. Mr. Rogers was vice president of Sunland Towers Condominium Association in charge of buildings and grounds. He was a member of Sheridan's TRAC (TRansportation Alternatives Coalition), the nonprofit organization developing the Sheridan pathways system. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stephen of Eau Claire, Wis., Mathew of Ethete, and Scott of Bozeman, Mont.; two daughters, Tara Rogers of Sheridan and Margaret Stiles of Queen Creek, Ariz.; a stepson, Bruce Burkhart of Sheridan; a sister, Carly Viehmeyer of Burlington, Colo.; six grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Sheridan Dog & Cat Shelter, 84 East Ridge Road, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Richard Irwin Miller, 72, of Sheridan died Friday, June 2, 2006, in Sheridan VA Medical Center. Cremation has taken place. Burial of cremains will be later in the Black Hills National cemetery, Sturgis, S.D. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home.

Rose Mary Bennick

Rose Mary Bennick, 77, of Sheridan died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at her residence. Cremation has taken place. A Christian Wake Service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church with Stolcis officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Memorials may be made to Holy Name School in care of Tara Keep, First Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Esther Freeman

Esther Freeman, 95, of Sheridan died Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Sheridan Manor. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. June 24 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating. Mrs. Freeman's cremains will be buried next to her husband's in Rawlins Municipal cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church music ministry in care of Karen Green, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Mary Ellen Goodman

Mary Ellen Goodman, 77, of Sheridan died Thursday, June 8, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Cremation has taken place under direction of Kane Funeral Home. Mrs. Goodman was born July 23, 1928, in Dietz to Clyde and Christina (Hotchkiss) Williams. She married Louis Goodman on May 11, 1946, in Hardin, Mont. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her two dogs. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and seven sisters. Survivors include a son, Clyde of Rawlins; a daughter, Mary Ann Kaminsky of Sheridan; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Visually Impaired Foundation, attention: Jerry, in care of Tara Keep, First Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Bernece Heyduck

Funeral services for Bernece Heyduck, 93, of Sheridan will be 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal cemetery under direction of Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Heyduck died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, in Westview Health Care Center. She was born Aug. 20, 1912, in Centralia, Ill., to Samuel Ellis and Beulah (Bundy) Heyduck. She spent her early years in Centralia and Kinmundy, Ill. The family moved to Gillette, and she was a 1928 graduate of Campbell County High School. She was a caregiver and hospital records administrator. She worked as a hospital records clerk at Sheridan Memorial Hospital for 24 years and cared for senior citizens for more than 30 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sheridan Woman's Club and the Republican Party. She enjoyed reading and needlepoint. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or to Westview Health Care Center.

Sue Robertson

Sue Robertson, 68, of Sheridan died Sunday, June 4, 2006, in Sheridan Manor. Services will be in Fort Scott, Kan. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Fort Scott. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Robertson was born May 16, 1938, in Fort Scott to Crist and Vella (Blubaugh) Johnson. She grew up in Kansas and graduated from high school in Pittsburgh, Kan. She was office manager for Hartford Insurance. She married Lee Robertson in 1966 in Wichita, Kan. They moved to Seattle, and Mrs. Robertson worked for Bell/Anderson Real Estate and Insurance for 15 years. She also worked for the Ron Brannon Agency for several years. The Robertsons moved to Sheridan in 1998. Mrs. Robertson collected dolls and was a member of United Federation of Doll Clubs.

Mary Evelyn Martin

Former Sheridan resident Mary Evelyn Martin, 82, of Billings died Friday, June 2, 2006, at her home. Cremation and services have taken place and burial was at Calvary cemetery in Billings. Arrangements were with Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Mrs. Martin was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Cerro, N.M., to Thomas and Georgiana Young Jenkins on the family's homestead. She graduated from high school in Denver. She married Donald R. Martin on June 26, 1945, in Denver. They later moved to Sheridan. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker. Mr. Martin died in 2003. Survivors include six children, Snooks Martin, Leo Martin and Jean Mathew, all of Billings, Mary Kay Streitz of Deer Lodge, Mont., Annette McKee of Edmonds, Wash., and Pat Thuesen of Sheridan; three sisters, Bernadette Availa of Albuquerque, N.M., Ruth Parker of St. Helena, Calif., and Luella Draper of San Diego; a brother, Robert Jenkins of Beaver, Utah; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.

Josephine `Jo' Ahlstrom

Josephine Jo Ahlstrom, 86, of Sheridan died Saturday, June 3, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with the Revs. Ray Clark and David Duprey officiating. Burial will be in the Elks Section of Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sheridan Elks cemetery Fund, 45 W. Brundage St.; St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 1 S. Tschirgi St.; or Sheridan Senior Citizens Center, 211 Smith St.

Ronald Louis Funk

BUFFALO - Ronald Louis Funk, 77, of Buffalo died Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Buffalo with the Rev. John Orwig officiating. Graveside committal services will follow in Willow Grove cemetery with military graveside rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Amie Holt Care Center in care of the funeral home, 351 N. Adams, Buffalo, WY 82834.

Edward A. Livingston

Edward A. Livingston, 67, of Sheridan died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at his residence. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Doolin officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church parking lot paving project, 3179 Big Horn Ave., Sheridan, WY 82801.

Josephine C. 'Jo' Craft

Josephine C. "Jo" Craft, 66, of Basin died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper surrounded by her family. She was mother of Gary Craft of Sheridan. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Basin with the Rev. Jack Preston officiating. Viewing will be 9-9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Mount View cemetery in Basin. Arrangements are with Atwood Family Funeral Directors Inc. Mrs. Craft was born May 23, 1940, in Basin to Cone and Mel (Durfey) Cornett. She grew up in Hyattville and attended schools there and in Manderson. She was a graduate of Manderson High School. She married Claude C. Craft on May 17, 1958, in Hyattville. She was a housewife and cooked for the Manderson School for many years. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, watching her grandchildren participate in sports and playing cards with friends. She was a member and first president of the Manderson Homemakers, a member of the United Methodist Church of Basin, a member of the Riverside High School Booster Club and a "Reading Grandma" at the Laura Irwin Elementary School. She was preceded in death by a brother, Don, and a sister, Molly. Other survivors include her husband, of Basin; another son, Claude Jr. of Basin; a daughter, Marcia West of Worland; a brother, Chuck Cornett of Worland; a sister, Pati McKim of Manderson; and seven grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established at the Security State Bank, P.O. Box 531, Basin, WY 82410. Disposition of proceeds will be decided at a later time.

Anne M. Williams

Funeral services for Anne M. Williams, 71, of Big Horn will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with the Rev. David Duprey officiating. Burial will be in the Elks Section of Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, in Sheridan Manor. She was born March 17, 1935, in St. Louis to John and Cornelia (Wheaton) McMillan. She grew up in St. Louis and attended Mary Institute. She graduated from Westover School in Middlebury, Conn., then attended Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University) in Fort Collins. Her family began going to Eatons' Ranch in 1947. She moved to Sheridan in 1955. She married Gene Williams on June 22, 1956, at the Beaver Creek Ranch. They remained on the ranch until 1981, when they moved to Big Horn. They moved to The Powder Horn in 1999. Mrs. Williams enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, cooking, entertaining, swimming, gardening, growing flowers and yard work. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by one daughter and one son. Survivors include her husband; a son, Stan of Big Horn; three daughters, Sharon Kobold of Big Horn, Becky Milobar of Surprise, Ariz., and Laura Duran of Glenrock; a brother, John S. McMillan of Maryland Heights, Md.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to Big Horn Lions Club.
