Ira Lee "Ike" Carroll Age 77 of Ranchester, WY
Died Monday, February 5, 2001, in his Ranchester home
Born April 17, 1923, at Bonner's Ferry, Idaho, to Grandville W. & Alta (Wallace) Carroll

The family moved to Sheridan shortly after he was born and he grew up and graduated high school in Sheridan. He served in the SeaBees during WWII overseas, first in the Aleutians and then in the Marianna's in the Pacific. After the war, he attended Farragut College in Idaho and
the University of Wyoming. Ike married Shirley Logan in 1950 in Billings, Montana. He retired from Carroll Land Company (the business he founded) in 1988. Ike was active in several fraternal and civic organizations. He was especially pleased to have served as a trustee of
Sheridan College during their first building phase on the present campus. He was a strong supporter of the 4-H program and served as a leader for many years.

Lynne Ann Collins Age 45 of Sheridan, WY
Died Sunday, February 25, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County
Born November 15, 1955, in Joliet, IL
Parents - Louis & Bernadine (Lang) Collins

She grew up and attended schools in Illinois. Lynne attended college in Illinois and later, after moving to Tucson, AZ, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona Law School in 1988. She came to Sheridan in 1991 and joined the law firm of Yonkee and Toner. In 1997, she operated Gateway Mediation for several years until she most recently became law clerk for Judge John Brackley. Lynne attended Bethesda Worship Center. She enjoyed reading, going to movies, the mountains, doing needlework and loved her dog, Carly. Lynne will be remembered for her bravery in fighting the cancer that changed and finally took her life.

Mel Conraads Age 52 of Story, WY
Died Monday, January 29, 2001, in Westview Health Care Center, Sheridan, WY
Born October 21, 1948, in Ortonville, Minnesota
Parents - Harold & Gail (Evers) Conraads

Grew up in S. Dakota and Minnesota graduating from Ortonville, MN, high school. Graduated from Moorhead State College in Minnesota. Moved to Sheridan in 1971. Mel married Shannon Evers on February 18, 1978, in Johnson County, WY. He worked as General Manager of Sheridan Motor and then Cook Ford before becoming owner & operator of Big Horn Motors. He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Masonic Lodge #43 and Kalif Shrine. An avid reader, he also enjoyed playing handball.

Preceded in death by his father as well as his step father, Warner Johnson.

Beatrice J. Cowherd, formerly of De Kalb, Illinois, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2001 at her Big Horn residence at the age of 85.
Mrs. Cowherd was born on November 25, 1915, in De Kalb, Illinois, to Edith (Norman) and Arthur Parkhouse, Sr. As a child she attended schools in De Kalb, Illinois. In 1942, she was united in marriage to John J. Cowherd in De Kalb, Illinois. Mrs. Cowherd was employed as an elementary schoolteacher for the Winnebago County School District for thirty-five years. After her retirement, she assisted her husband in pastoring a Foursquare church in Thorp, Wisconsin. She spent her last years in Durand, Illinois, serving the Lord and loving her grandchildren.

Mrs. Cowherd is survived by her husband, John, of Sheridan, Wyoming; daughter, Sherryl D. Wright and husband Everett, of Sheridan, Wyoming; brother Arthur Parkhouse, Jr., of De Kalb, Illinois; and four grandchildren, Tracy K. O’Brien of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Polly L. O’Brien of Chanhassen, Minnesota, Heather E. Siudak of Lake Mary, Florida, and Joshua
M. O’Brien of De Kalb, Illinois.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date in Illinois. Interment will be in the Fort Mead National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Janet E. Crist Age 75 of Sheridan, WY
Died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in her Sheridan home
Born October 30, 1925, in Sheridan
Parents - Homer & Ellen (Granger) Ballard

She grew up and graduated high school in Sheridan. Attended LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA. She married Edward John Crist on August 7, 1946, in Hardin, MT. She worked for the telephone company for a few years. They lived in Sheridan her whole life. She was a member of First Christian Church, Eastern Star, Navy Mothers, Creative Fiber Guild and was a past
president of Beauceant. Janet enjoyed painting on felt and china as well as quilting, sewing and working in her garden.

Preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Ballard.

Died Saturday, February 24, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County
Born January 18, 1926, in East Grand Forks, Minnesota
Parents - Thomas & Ida (Krese) Jackson

She grew up on the farm at E. Grand Forks and graduated from high school in E. Grand Forks. She married Robert Davis on January 18, 1947, in Detriot Lakes, MN. They lived in several places, where she was a bank teller, before coming to Sheridan in 1981. She volunteered as a precinct worker for elections in Sheridan. Doris enjoyed playing bridge, travel and crocheting.
