MARY E. SELIG Age 70 of Sheridan, WY
Died Sunday, April 8, 200 I in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County
Born March 9, 1931, in Kaycee WY
Parents -Clarence & Grace (Bybee) Rushton

She grew up in the Kaycee and attended elementary school. While growing up she loved to raise flowers and plant a garden. She was an excellent home maker. She married Stanley Selig in July, 1977. They lived in Rock Springs, WY Where Stanley worked in the Coal Mines and Moved to Sheridan WY in 1977. Mary was injured in an automobile accident in 1978 that left her unable to do much work. She enjoyed Cross Word puzzles, flowers and watching TV. She was preceded in death by her Husband in 1984, a daughter Nancy, age 3 and a sister Stella.

Survivors -
Daughter Mary Barnhill of Gillette, WY and a sister Loraine.
3 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the doners choice. Graveside services will be Thursday Apri112, at 2:00 pm at the Sheridan municipal cemetery with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. Champion Ferries Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Warren B. Sheldon, Jr. Age 53 a former Sheridan, WY, resident
Died Sunday, April 22, 2001, in the V.A. Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA
Born in Sheridan, WY, to Warren "Ole" & Delores "Dee" (LaBurda) Sheldon

He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1965 and attended Luzerne County Community College in Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served two tours in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Commendation Medal. He worked as a nursing assistant for the Dept. of Veterans
Affairs Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre until he retired. He was a member of St. John's Russian Orthodox Church, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #283 and the Sheridan Elks Lodge #520.

Hazel G. Sherard Age 79 of Sheridan, WY
Died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County
Born November 16, 1921, in Gillette, WY
Parents - Benjamin & Clara (Osborn) Harris

She grew up on a ranch and graduated from high school in Gillette. She married Harold "Slim" Sherard on June 23, 1940, in Gillette. They traveled to various construction jobs in Wyoming and Montana until settling in Sheridan in 1969. Mr. Sherard died in 1985. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary. An avid fisherman, she enjoyed reading,
crossword puzzles and bingo. She loved her dog "Buddy."

Preceded in death by one son, Sonny.

Mary M. Smith, 83, of Sheridan, passed away May 28, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Mrs. Smith was born on July 1, 1917 to Mary Koscielniok (Patz) and Mike Patz, in Monarch, Wyoming. She was married to Mick Petrovich and was later divorced. She married George Smith and they ranched near Piney Creek until his death, and then moved into Sheridan.

Mrs. Smith was an accomplished seamstress and had worked for the Sheridan Singer store for many years. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. Mary was active in various church groups, Order of St. Luke, Secular Order of St. Franciscan, Contemplative Prayer Group, Women’s bible study and the Rosary Group. She also enjoyed working as a volunteer in the Holy Name Thrift Shop.

Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Joe Patz; and one sister, Sophia Bearrows. She is survived by one brother, Frank Patz of Sheridan; two children, Robb Smith of Colorado Springs and Stasia Sayer of Sheridan; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation for Mrs. Smith was Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Kane Funeral Home from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Cremation will follow.

Memorials may be made to the Holy Name Fund for the Needy, the Sheridan Senior Citizens Center, or the San Benito Monastery, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P. O Box 2007, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801

Donald H. Snider Age 76 of Sheridan, WY
Died Thursday, April 12, 2001, in Sheridan Manor
Born August 26, 1924, in Rawlins, WY
Parents - Clinton & Emma (Highley) Snider

He grew up in Rawlins coming to Sheridan as a Senior and graduating from Sheridan High School. Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II and served in the Pacific. After the service, he returned to Wyoming, then moved to Sheridan and went to work for Montana Dakota Utilities in 1950. He married Myra Buckley on January 9, 1979, in Casper, WY. They lived in
Sheridan and he retired after 35 years with MDU in 1985. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fort Phil Kearney Assoc. and a life member of Elks Lodge #520. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and the Denver Broncos.

Preceded in death by his son Jeffrey and daughter Renea.

Suzanne B. Snydal Age 80 of Sheridan, WY
Died Thursday, April 12, 2001, in the V.A. Medical Center, Sheridan
Born March 25, 1921, in Seattle, Washington
Parents - Edward & Betsy (Taylor) Brogan

She grew up and graduated from Washington High School in Portland, Oregon. She attended St. Helene Jr. College and the University of Oregon. She received her nursing degree from Good Samaritan Hospital and then went on to Honemen General Hospital in San Francisco for Operating Room training. She enlisted in the Army during WWII and served in France and Germany as a surgical nurse with the 132nd M.A.S.H. Unit stationed with the 95th Evacuation Division. At the end of the war, she was at Nurnberg General Hospital where she met her future husband. After being discharged from the service in California she married Maxwell Snydal on September 1, 1946, in Portland, OR. They lived in Wray, Colorado, for several years until they moved to Fort Morgan, CO. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, Arturus (a women's volunteer group) and on the 13th Judicial committee to evaluate Judges in Colorado. She was a volunteer teaching English to migrant workers. Mr. Snydal died in 1976. In October, 1999, she moved to Sheridan to be with her daughter. An avid bridge player she also enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, reading, and music. She had a special love for books.

Preceded in death by her sister Betty Suehsdorf.

John Boykin Stevison, 78, of Sheridan passed away at Sheridan Manor on Wednesday, April 25, 2001.

Mr. Stevison was born on December 29, 1922, in Stateline, Mississippi, to John Madison and Fertilla (Laughton) Stevison. As a child, he attended schools in Waynesboro, Mississippi. After graduation, John joined the United States Marine Corps, and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He moved to Wyoming in 1945, and on January 10, 1946, he was united in marriage to Esther McCoy in Billings, Montana. John and Esther had three children. John worked as a Nurse’s Assistant at the Sheridan V.A. Medical Center for 30 years and retired from the V.A. in 1976. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening in his leisure time. He also enjoyed attending the Sheridan High School football games. John was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Mr. Stevison was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Esther of Sheridan, Wyoming; his son John Stevison of Sheridan, Wyoming; his daughters Joyce Arbach and husband Gary of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Mary A. Townsend of Sturgis, South Dakota; and his granddaughters Nicole and Katie Arbach, also of Sheridan, Wyoming.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2001, at Kane Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2001, in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor William Heine officiating.

Rika W. Stouffer Age 94 of Sheridan, WY
Died Monday, May 7, 2001, at her Sheridan home
Born August 1, 1906, in Hengelo, Holland
Parents - Hendrik J. & Arendina (Kruelen) Wilmink

They came to the U.S. when she was four years old. She grew up and attended schools in Cincinnati, OH. She married William E. Stouffer on December 24, 1927, in Cincinnati. They lived in Berea, OH, and Galesburg, IL, until coming to Sheridan in 1958. Mr. Stouffer died in 1971. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Preceded in death by her brother Dirk Wilmink.
