Ernest "Bradley" Hart, 63, of Sheridan, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2001, at his residence.

Bradley was born on February 6, 1938, to Ernest and Verna (Thomas) Hart. He completed high school, and served in the U.S. Army. He later married Rebecca Steigelman on December 23, 1983, in Sheridan. His greatest loves were fishing, hunting, and his lodges. He was a member of the Ashton Lodge #73, the Eagles Lodge #4740, the Kalif Temple, and the A&A Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of Sheridan.

Bradley was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lynn Hart. He is survived by his wife Rebecca of Sheridan; two stepsons, Rick and Robert Duryea, both of Sheridan; two sisters, Vicky Davidson of Idaho and Ann Wade of Oklahoma; one brother, Jack Hart of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and services will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at Kane Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY, 82801.

Lillian C. Hassey Age 93 of Sheridan, WY
Died Monday, July 2, 2001, in Westview Health Care Center, Sheridan
Born August 19, 1907, in Plumber, Idaho
Parents - Andrew & Bertha (Kutch) O’Burg

She grew up in Idaho attending elementary school in the Convent of the Immaculate Conception, DeSmit, ID, then graduated from high school from the Sacred Heart Academy in Missoula, MT. She received her nurses training at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula. She began her nursing career in the V.A. Medical Center in Sheridan in 1932. She transferred to American Lake, WA, in 1933 and then returned to the Sheridan V.A. in 1934. She married Andrew Hassey, Jr. in Missoula, MT, in 1934. They lived in Sheridan and she worked until 1944 when she had her son, Pat. She returned to nursing after her husband died in 1953. She worked at the Old Sheridan Hospital and helped move into the new Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County working until she retired in 1975. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s & St. Anthony’s Catholic Women’s Groups, Half Century Homemakers Club, American Nurses Assn., Johnson/Sheridan County Pioneers and AARP #676. She enjoyed crafts, puzzles and traveling.

Preceded in death by her brother Harry O’Burg and one sister Donna White.

Wanda Haverty, 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, at Sheridan Manor.

Mrs. Haverty was born February 12, 1922, in Eskridge, Kansas, to William and Elizabeth (Johnston) Orr. In December 1940 in Nogales, Arizona, Wanda married Robert Haverty. Wanda worked in Bob Lenon=s engineering office in Patagonia, Arizona, for some time, and then she worked at Patagonia High School for 12 years.

Wanda was a 4-H leader for many years, teaching a generation of girls how to cook and sew. She enjoyed her time spent as a housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Krum Methodist Church, and was a past Matron of the Eastern Star in Nogales, Arizona, and Sanger, Texas.

Mrs. Haverty was preceded in death by her husband Robert in June 1999. Survivors include her daughter Sharon Gastelum of Buffalo, Wyoming; her three sons, Rex Haverty of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Clinton Haverty of Krum, Texas, and Colonel Bruce Haverty of Mississippi; her grandchildren Mike and Jennifer Haverty, Casey and Ethan Haverty, Zane Haverty, and Christopher Gastelum and Penny Wallis; her great grandchildren Garrett and Randi Wallis and Devin Gastelum; her three sisters, Waketa Barngrover, Marjorie Hartman, and Joy Clements, all of Kansas; and her two brothers Edgar Hodges and Charles Hodges, both of Kansas.

Cremation has taken place, and the family will hold private memorial services in Texas at a later date. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Former Sheridan resident, Helen C. Hayes, 97, passed away in Castle Rock, Colorado, on Sunday July 15, 2001.

Ms. Hayes was born on February 29, 1904, in Aztec, New Mexico, to Pinkney and Martha (Patterson) Head. Helen enjoyed fishing and playing cards. She loved to work and was involved with her grandchildren.

Preceding Helen in death were her parents and eleven siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (George) Acker of Simla, CO; three grandchildren, Jack Chieslar of Irvine, CA, Sheri Bressler of Greeley, CO, and Teresa D=Spain of Albany, OR; and four great-grandchildren, Jared Bressler, Lyndsey Bressler, Tyler D=Spain and Andrew D=Spain.

Visitation services will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Kane Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sheridan, Wyoming, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in care of Kay Roush, First Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Vera C. Hill age 94, a native of Sheridan, WY
Died Friday, August 31, 2001, in Reelfoot Manor, Tiptonville, Tennessee
Born April 14, 1907, in Sheridan
Parents - James & Lillie (Gamble) Mason

She married Glenn Hill on July 27, 1928. They lived in the Ulm and Buffalo, WY areas until moving into Sheridan in 1937. Her favorite past times were milking her cow, Susan, raising her large gardens and mowing her lawn. She also loved to cook for her large family dinners. She was a member of First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, daughter Doris Elaine in 1982, two brothers and two sisters.

GLENN HOFF, 74, of Sheridan, WY died Thursday August 23, 2001 at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings, MT.

Mr. Hoff was born February 19, 1927 in Sheridan, WY to Charles G. and Laura E. (Howell) Hoff.

Mr. Hoff attended the Sheridan School system and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1945 and later attended Heiman's Business Collage. He was inducted into the Army in 1945, trained at Fort Bliss, TX in the Artillery and served in the 53rd Field Artillery in the Pacific. Mr. Hoff worked for the C.B. & Q. Railroad after returning home from the service. He later went to work for the Veteran's Administration Medical Center and was a Supervisor in Personal Property Management when he retired in 1984.

Mr. Hoff married Arlene M. Loucks on October 22, 1948 in Sheridan. Mr. Hoff and his wife attended the Wesleyan Church in Sheridan.

Glenn was a Past Master of Big Horn Mt. Lodge #43 A.F. & A.M., a Past Grand Commander, a Past Grand High Priest, Past Most Illustrious Grand Master and Past M. E. Grand High Priest. He was Past Puissant Sovereign of St. Denny Conclave. He was a member of Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priest, Equality York Rite Collage #92, KYCH and a Past Worthy Patron of Friendship Chapter #51 O.E.S., Sheridan. Glenn enjoyed fishing and camping in the Big Horn Mts., enjoyed roller skating and ran the Community roller rink for numerous yrs.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and a grandson, Denton Hoff.

Survivors include his wife Arlene, Sheridan, a son, Wayne Hoff of Sheridan, two daughters, Linda Westwang of Sheridan, and Laurie Bartenhagen of Williston, ND, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter.

Funeral services for Mr. Hoff will be held Wednesday August 29, 2001 at 10:00 AM at the Sheridan Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Charles Lucas officiating. Burial will be in Masonic #43 section, Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Lynn M. Hoffman Age 50 of Sheridan, WY
Died Tuesday, August 14, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County
Born November 12, 1950, in Sheridan
Parents - Leroy & Dorothy (Davis) Mooney

She grew up and graduated high school in Sheridan. She attended Sheridan College, University of Wyoming and Montana State University. She married Edward Hoffman on August 11, 1973, in Sheridan. She worked many years for the Wyoming Dept. of Employment. She was a very active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and the Altar Guild. She was President of the Friends of the Library and past President of the Jayceettes. Lynn loved her family, gardening and Civil War history.

Preceded in death by her father.

Robert Lue Irion, son of Harlan L. and Helen Yerby Irion was born August 11, 1930 at Miles City, Montana. He died August 30, 2001 Sheridan, Wyoming. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at 2:00 PM at the Congregational Church in Broadus, Montana.

Bob spent his early years on the family ranch on the Mizpah north of Broadus. He attended the Irion School for his elementery schooling and graduated from Broadus High School in 1947.

He worked for Dick Smith on the Smith Ranch for several years before he joined his father in the trucking business. Bob spent the remainder of his working life in the trucking business.

In November of 1954 he married Venita Sherva of Baker, Montana. They have two children, Douglas of Temeculah, California and Kristi Milam of Top of the World near Yellowstone Park. Bob and Venita lived in Sheridan, Wyoming and spent winters in Phoenix.

Bob is survived by his wife, Venita, son Doug and wife Jeanna, daughter Kristi and husband Bart), sisters, Glenda Somers of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Ann McCullough of Ashland, Montana, six grandchildren, Travis, Truman, Marissa, Jarrett, Tucker and Baxter. Also surviving are five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Helen Y.

Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
