Mary Gray Lane Buchanan age 78 of Sheridan, WY
Died Sunday, October 28, 2001, in Westview Health Care Center, Sheridan
Born February 9, 1923, at Rapid City, S. Dakota, the oldest child of Ted Richard Lane and Lois Marion Grant.

She grew up in South Dakota and New Hampshire before moving to Sheridan in 1933. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1941. She worked as a telephone operator for American Telephone and Telegraph in Sheridan during WWII, spending six months as an operator in Arizona before returning to Sheridan. She married Thomas Earle Buchanan in Billings, Montana, on May 25, 1945, and they had two children. She was involved in all of her family's activities and served as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader for many years. She loved classical music and was an accomplished pianist. She was an amateur botanist and loved the Big Horn Mountains where she spent many hours bird watching and identifying wildflowers. She enjoyed fishing and camping in the Big Horns as well as reading, china-painting, oil painting and ceramics. She delivered "Meals on Wheels" for several years and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Cheery Chicks Homemakers Club.

Mary Gray is survived by her husband Earle, son Ted of Gillette, WY, daughter Nancy Talbott of Gillette, WY, brother Walter Vernon "Bill" Lane of Missoula, MT and five grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:00am on Thursday (Nov. 1st) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Interment in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, Masonic #43 section.
Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Malcolm I. Bucher, 82, of Sheridan, WY died December 26, 2001 in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Mr. Bucher was born May 27, 1919 in Alva, WY to Ivan and Nina (McAmis) Bucher. He grew up and attended schools in Hulett, WY and Belle Fourche, S.D. graduating from Belle Fourche High School in 1938.

He owned and operated service stations in Hulett, Sundance, Newcastle, Greybull before moving to Dayton where he owned and operated a service station and campground. Mr. Bucher then moved to Sheridan where he owned the Gulf station and delivered mail to Parkman and Pass Creek before retiring. He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Hulett, WY.

Mr. Bucher married Eileen Hauber Jan. 5, 1941 in Broadus, MT. Mrs. Bucher died in 1983. He married Helen Jervis in November of 1983 in Casper, WY.

Mr. Bucher was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Casper, two daughters, Lydia Ann Roloff of Richmond, VA, and Diana Lynn Stevenson of Sheridan, WY; one brother, Dean Bucher of Aladdin, WY; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM Saturday December 29, 2001 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Services for Mr. Bucher will be 11:00 AM Monday, December 31, 2001 at the 1st Baptist Church, Hulett, WY with the Rev. Jeff Dilks officiating. Burial will be in the Hulett Cemetery, Hulett.

Memorials for Mr. Bucher may be made to the 1st Baptist Church, Hulett, WY or the charity of the donor's choice, in care of Delphine Toner, 1st Interstate Bank, Sheridan.

Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Carmella Rose Capillupo, 89, of Sheridan passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Rose was born on October 30, 1912, in Sorbo f Basil, Italy, to Graziano Antonio and Mary (Canino) Capillupo. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Miss Capillupo is survived by her four sisters Nina Ostrander of Beaufort, South Carolina, Conjetta Capillupo and Catherine Smith of Sheridan, and Mary Evelyn Edwards of Gillette. She is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews.

A viewing will be held from 8:30 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home on Thursday, November 8, 2001, and graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2001, in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Rose’s name to the Holy Name School Foundation in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Bessie Channel, 84, of Sheridan passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2001, at Sheridan Manor.
Mrs. Channel was born May 29, 1917, in Wyola, Montana, to Carl and Halie (Gilman) Riplett. On September 25, 1936, in Sheridan, Wyoming, Bessie married Ernest Channel. She worked very hard as a homemaker, and raised seven children.

Bessie loved to crochet and sew. She was very active in church, and taught Sunday School for many years. Bessie also served as local, State and District President of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union for some time.

Mrs. Channel was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, her parents, her son Albert Channel, her daughter Byrlla Myhre, her sister Esther Hunche, and her brothers Clyde, Howard and Richard Riplett. Survivors include her two daughters, Kathy Kuchera of Cheyenne and Ellie Horsley of Sheridan; her three sons, Kenneth, Bud and Justin “Skip” Channel, all of Sheridan; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her brother Kenneth Riplett of New Hyde Park, New York; and her sister Blanche Rutz of Great Falls, Montana.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2001, at Kane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2001, at Kane Funeral Home, with the Reverend Arthur Maendl officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund in care of Kay Roush, First Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY, 82801.

Michael Matthew Crilly, 54, of Sheridan passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2001, at his summer home in Big Fork, Montana.

Mike was born on October 6, 1947, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to James and Dorothy (Felix) Crilly. After high school, he attended and graduated from the University of Wyoming. Mike married Barbara Fowler on September 2, 1972. He taught business education in Montana and Wyoming schools, and for the remainder of his professional career, he was the personnel manager for Decker Coal. He enjoyed golfing, boating, four-wheeling, and all sports, especially coaching young people in football and basketball, and was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church. Mike’s most treasured love was his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Sheridan, Wyoming; his daughter Kimberly Crilly of Phoenix, Arizona; his son Scott Crilly of Laramie, Wyoming; his two brothers, James Crilly of Norfolk, Nebraska, and Timothy Crilly of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and his sister Mary Liz Gale of Sheridan, Wyoming.

Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2001, at Kane Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2001, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Monsignor Eugene Sullivan officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Mike Crilly Memorial Fund, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801. The funds raised will be donated to various charities that Mike was fond of.

Carla J. Durst Age 31 of Sheridan, WY
Died Saturday, November 24, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County after a battle with cancer.
Born April 4, 1970, in Carmi, Illinois
Parents - John & Janice (Shoultz) Durst

She grew up and attended schools in Illinois. Carla came to Sheridan in 1996. She worked at the Trails End Restaurant for a few years. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, listening to music and playing video games.

She was preceded in death by her sister Crystal Lynn Shoultz

Funeral service will be 10:00am on Thursday from Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilbur Holz officiating. Cremation will follow the service with interment of cremains in the family plot in Illinois.

Memorials may benefit the American Cancer Society. Memorial service will be 10:00am on Thursday (Nov. 29th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilbur Holz officiating. Interment of cremains will be in Illinois.

Lillian Lenz Ellenwood, 89, of Sheridan, WY died Saturday, October 13, 2001 at Sheridan Manor.

Mrs. Ellenwood was born in Portland Oregon, on October 3, 1912 to George J. and Katherine (Wagner) Lenz. She spent part of her childhood in Riverton, WY and then in the Clearmont area with her parents on farms.

She married Charles Ellenwood in Hardin, MT and they lived and farmed in the Clear Creek valley before moving to Clearmont. She moved to Sheridan in 1989. Mrs. Ellenwood was a memeber of the Immanuel Luthern Church in Sheridan.

Mrs. Ellenwood was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by a son, Willian (Bill) Mueller and wife Kay, of Roseville, CA; a daughter, Judith Baumgartner and husband Larry, of Sheridan, WY; a brother, Richard (Dick) Lenz and wife Lone, of Sheridan, WY; a sister, Helen Kaiser and husband Ralph of Buffalo, WY; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ellenwood will be held at 10am Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at the Immanuel Luthern Church in Sheridan with Pastor Kirk Peters officiating. Burial will be in the Elks Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetary.

Memorials in memory of Mrs. Ellenwood may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of hte donor's choice, in care of Delphine Toner, 1st Interstate Bank, Sheridan. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Sonny George, 50, of Ucross, passed away at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County on Tuesday, December 11, 2001.
Sonny George was born on December 27, 1950, in Buffalo, Wyoming, to Lester and Genevieve (Bugher) George. Sonny owned the salvage yard in Ucross for 35 years. His main interests were his salvage yard, his miniature goats, and his dogs. He loved his companion’s children, his nieces and his nephews, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and visiting with his many friends and customers at the junk yard.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, two brothers, Edward Dale George and Charles Andrew George, his niece Heather M. George, and his brother-in-law Milton L. “Mickey” Straight. He is survived by his long-time companion Sue Cournaya of Sheridan; his brother James Patrick George; his six sisters, Beverly Ann Straight of Clearmont, Nellie George and husband Rick Johnson of Clearmont, Mary George of Sheridan, Tammie George of Clearmont, Ginger Horton-Ferguson of Sheridan, Lynn Johnson of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and Leslie George of Sheridan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2001, at Kane Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2001, at Kane Funeral Home with Joe Jarvis officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Southeast Sheridan First Response BMT Fund of Clearmont in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
