Imogene Mock, 82, of Sheridan passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2001, at Westview Health Care Center.
Mrs. Mock was born on December 31, 1918, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Ray and Ella (Guibault) Vest. She graduated from Sheridan High School. On September 28, 1940, Imogene married Paul Mock at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Sheridan. She worked very hard as a homemaker, raising three children, and also volunteered at the V.A. Medical Center. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, the Daughters of the King, St. Margaret’s, St. Hilda’s, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Imogene enjoyed attending church, spending time at the family’s cabin in the mountains, baking for friends, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mock was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1992, her parents, and her sister Bobs Erickson. Survivors include her three daughters, Vesta Gale and Nancy Steel of Sheridan, and Doti Mock of San Diego, California; her nine grandchildren, Paul Gale, Michael Gale, John Gale, Rochelle Gale Fox, Cheryl Murphy Farman, Raymond Murphy, Mike Steel, Heath Steel, and Randy Harvey; and her seventeen great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2001, at St. Peters’ Episcopal Church, with the Reverends David Duprey and Ray Clark co-officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in care of Kay Roush, First Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY, 82801.

Kenneth M. Namtvedt Age 77 of Sheridan, WY
Died Tuesday, December 4, 2001, in the V.A. Medical Center, Sheridan
Born March 9, 1924, in Groton, S. Dakota
Parents - Cornelius & Margit (Hjelle) Namtvedt

The family moved from Groton to Hettinger, N. Dakota, and then to Buffalo, WY, where he graduated from Johnson County High School in 1942. He enlisted in the Army and was a decorated veteran having served with the 3rd Army in World War II. After the war, he married Elizabeth A. Yasulevicz in Hardin, MT, in 1946. They moved to Laramie, WY, where he attended the University of WY. They moved to Sheridan where they owned a motel and Ken worked at the V. A. Medical Center until he retired. Ken enjoyed boating, fishing, big game hunting and traveling. He was a life member of Masonic Lodge #43, Scottish Rite and Kalif Temple. He was also a member of the American Legion, Eagles Lodge and a life member of Elks Lodge #520.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Milo.

Graveside committal of his cremains will be 10:00am on Saturday (Dec. 15th) in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, Masonic #43 Section, with the Masonic Lodge officers officiating.
Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Leota O’Dell, 85, of Sheridan passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Leota was born on April 19, 1916, in Newcastle, Wyoming, to Michael and Mary (McCoy) Cusick. She attended various schools, including Holy Name Catholic School in Sheridan, St. Agnes Academy in Alliance, Nebraska, and Sheridan High School. On June 25, 1935, she married William B. O’Dell in Billings, Montana, at St. Patrick’s Church. Mrs. O’Dell enjoyed the outdoors, flower gardening, playing bridge, and she was active in her church. She was a member of the U.T.U. Auxiliary and the Holy Name Council of Catholic Women.

Mrs. O’Dell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William B. O’Dell, her daughter-in-law Alberta O’Dell, and her great-grandson Allen M. O’Dell. She is survived by her five sons, Thomas W. O’Dell of Sheridan, Mike O’Dell and wife Kathy of Littleton, Colorado, John M. O’Dell and wife Starr of Sheridan, Pat O’Dell and wife Pat of Sheridan, and Ed O’Dell and wife Mary Kay of Torrington, Wyoming; eighteen grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 28, 2001. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2001, at Holy Name Catholic Church with Monsignor Eugene Sullivan officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Leota’s name to the Holy Name School Foundation in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Cecil R. Randolph, Sr. Age 64 of Sheridan, WY
Died Thursday, December 27, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County
Born January 8, 1937, in Carbondale, CA, to Walter & Annie (Taylor) Randolph

He grew up in California and graduated from high school in Ione, CA. He married his first wife Sherlyn in the early 1960's. They were later divorced. He moved to Sheridan in 1977 where he worked as a welder for Decker Coal Co. He married Jill Petry on Aug. 13, 1990, in Hardin, MT. He retired from Decker Coal in 2000. He was past President of Eagles Lodge #186 and a trustee. He enjoyed four wheelers, hunting, fishing, camping with his family and being in the Big Horn Mountains. He loved his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Cecil "Butch" Randolph, Jr. and a sister Iris Bishop.

Clifford Edward Rasmussen, 94, of Sheridan, WY, died Monday, December 24, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Visitation will be 9:00am until 5:00pm on Friday, December 28, 2001, from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:00pm on Saturday from Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev.'s Ronald Nelson and Wilbur Holz officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Mr. Rasmussen was born November 4, 1907, in Minneapolis, MN, to John and Nora (Nelson) Rasmussen. He graduated from the eighth grade at Horseshoe Lake School in Wisconsin. He left the farm at the are of twenty and worked in the Chevrolet plant at Janesville, WI, for two years. He moved to Nebraska in 1929 and started working in construction. In 1937, he married Violet Goff. They had two children, Edward and Shirley. In 1946, they moved to Sheridan, WY, and with his brother Willard they formed the Rasmussen Brothers Construction Co. from 1947 to 1969. Violet died in 1962.

He married Mabelle M. Zummo from Rockford, IL, in November, 1967, during which time he operated the large draglines at the Hanna and Decker Coal mines. Mabelle died in 1993. In September, 1996, he married Nellie Cooper Bocek.

Mr. Rasmussen was a member of the Wyoming Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheridan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, making tools for his hobbies, playing the accordion, dancing, participating in senior center activities and traveling extensively in the U.S. and in other parts of the world on vacation and family reunions.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie, of Sheridan; son Edward (Betty) of Laramie, WY, and daughter Shirley (Chuck) Legerski of Billings, MT; step children Larry Cooper, Jackie Warnke and Dixie Will of Sheridan and Penny Cooper of New Jersey; granddaughters Kathy Legerski and Melissa Schneider (Brad) of Billings, MT; step grandsons Adam and Mike Laskowsky of Marietta, Georgia; brother Raymond of Oswego, NY; sisters Stella Brown and Geneva Gadow of Cumberland, WI, and Ila Hollander of Hendersonville, NC; sister-in-law Helyn Rasmussen; nephews Harlan Rasmussen (Sharon) of Sheridan, Loren Rasmussen (Carolyn) of Juneau, Alaska; nieces Jan Bauman and Elyn Mae Lyon; nine other nieces and nephews and numerous other step grandchildren.

In addition to wives Violet and Mabelle, he was preceded in death by his brother Willard and his parents.

Memorials may benefit Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheridan.

Lillian Ethel Reese, 87, formerly of Follansbee, West Virginia, died Saturday, October 27, 2001, at Sheridan Manor Nursing Home.
She was born August 30, 1914, in Mingo Junction, Ohio, to the late Brewer and Lillie (Mitchell) Thomas. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, two brothers, and two sisters, all of the Ohio Valley. She was a member of the Follansbee United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her son Ernest Brady and his wife Patricia of Sheridan; a stepdaughter Marie Cribbs of Follansbee, WV; two granddaughters, Kelly Reeves and her husband Mike, and Darby Keller and her husband Jeff. She has two great-grandchildren, Justin Keller and Aryia Reeves. Also surviving are two nieces, Faye Jacquay of Wheeling, WV, and Alice McKay of Fayette, Iowa.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Cremation has taken place, and the family will hold private services at a later date.

Frances M. Ross, 69, of Sheridan passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2001, at Sheridan Manor.

Mrs. Ross was born on January 29, 1932, to Paul and Agnes Madzia in Monarch, Wyoming. She attended the Monarch school, and married Don Arborgast in 1949. They were divorced after some time, and she later married Paul Ross. Frances worked as a waitress at the Sheridan Inn, the Sheridan Sandwich Shop, Woody’s Restaurant, and the City Drive In. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church on Park Street, and enjoyed playing Bingo.

Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Paul Madzia. She is survived by her daughter, Shawnee Arbogast of Boise, ID; her sisters Alice Warnke, Agnes Legerski and Helen Cherni, all of Sheridan; and her brother John Madzia of Sheridan.

Cremation has taken place and at Frances’ request no services will be held. Kane Funeral Home is handled the arrangements.

Michael L. Rubidge Age 46 of Gillette, WY
Died Thursday, November 29, 2001, in Campbell Co. Memorial Hospital from complications of Leukemia.
Born March 30, 1955, in Isleworth, Middlesex, England near London
Parents - Leslie & Lilian (Lucas) Rubidge

He came to Sheridan, WY, from England when he was 12 years old. Mike graduated from Sheridan High School. Mike married Mary Jo Hininger on December 26, 1980, in Sheridan. They moved to Gillette in 1983 were he worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 22 years. He had been an Engineer since June, 1993. On May 19, 1995, Mike became an American Citizen. Mike was an avid photographer since he was 7 years old. He loved cars and motorcycles as well as taking his dogs for walks. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gillette.

Mike was preceded in death by his father in 1998.

Funeral service will be 10:00am on Monday from Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
