REAVES
Services for Clarence Williams Reaves, Jr., 70, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, in the chapel of K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Rev. Dr. Bob Ford and Brandon Pisacrita officiated. Burial was in Jacksonville City Cemetery.
Mr. Reaves died Aug. 21 at Jacksonville Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Lela Reaves of Jacksonville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Mike Pisacrita and Robin and Carl Cochran; a son, Matthew William Reaves; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Linnie Reaves and Donald and Sue Reaves; four grandchildren, Brandon Pisacrita, Corey Pisacrita and his wife Elizabeth, and Jordan Pisacrita and Jennifer Kiker and her husband DeWayne; and a great-grandson, Chase Kiker.
Pallbearers were DeWayne Kiker, Jason Reaves, Carl Cochran, Michael Abernathy, Corey Pisacrita and Tommy Kiker. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Aguilar, Jordan Pisacrita and members of the Calhoun County sheriff’s deputy reserves.
Mr. Reaves was retired from the City of Jacksonville after 24 years of service and was employed by The Anniston Star for 12 years. He enjoyed trade days, yard sales, NASCAR, college football and eBay. He was an avid ham radio operator (W4JSU). He liked being with his family.

WHALEY
Services for Margaret Whaley, 57, were at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Burial was in Anniston Memorial Gardens. Dr. Mack Amis conducted services. Chapel Hill Funeral Home directed.
Ms. Whaley died Aug. 19 at her residence.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Frank Brown Jr. of Anniston; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Candi Ward of Anniston; four sisters, Shirley Whaley, Patricia Smith and Delores Hughes of Jacksonville and Barbara Whaley of Anniston; five brothers, Leonard Whaley, Benny Whaley and Jimmy Whaley of Anniston and Curtis Whaley and David Whaley of South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Ashley Ervin, Kimberly Ervin, Ricky Ward Jr., Tommy Ward, Bobby Ward, Stephanie Ward, Tiffany Ervin, and Katelin Howard; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband David Ervin, her parents Leonard and Mamie Whaley, three brothers-in-law Phillip Ervin, Ted Ervin and Jerry Ervin and two sisters-in-law Peggy Ervin and Lealla Ervin preceded her in death.
WOODALL
Services for Earl Thomas “Tommy” Woodall, 63, were at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, in the chapel of K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Rev. William Cain and Bill Roberts officiated. Burial was in Anniston Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Woodall died Aug. 22 at his home in Jacksonville.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Geraldine Smith Woodall; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Wanda Woodall of Wellington and Ricky and Bekki Woodall of Oxford; 11 nieces and six nephews including Alicia Austin and Al Coone.
Pallbearers were Gary Woodall, Ricky Woodall, Joe Austin, Henry Smith, Harold Smith, and Jim Smith.
His parents Earl L. Woodall and Ruby McFall Woodall preceded him in death. Mr. Woodall was born March 25, 1945 in Anniston, graduated from Jacksonville High School and was a life-long resident of Jacksonville. He co-owned Armstrong Florist in Jacksonville with his wife. He was employed at Anniston Army Depot for 26 years, was a Vietnam veteran, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a fan of Alabama football.
BROCK
A private memorial service will be held for Effie Ruth Brock, 87, of Leesburg, formerly of Jacksonville, who died at her home on Aug. 30.
Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Scaduto of Leesburg; two sons and daughters-in-law Tom and Micki Brock of Fort Payne and Dewey and Julia Brock of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her husband Carlton D. Brock preceded her in death. Mrs. Brock was a hairdresser in Anniston for over 40 years.
She enjoyed fishing, Braves baseball, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
FICKLEN
Graveside for Ruby Hendrix Palmer Ficklen, 83, were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Revs. William Cain, Jimmy Ford and Jimmy Steward officiated. K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center directed.
Mrs. Ficklen died Aug. 28.
Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and John Steward and Sue and Jackie Wilkins; nine grandchildren, Johnathan Steward, Charles Steward, Jeff Steward and his wife Lori, Carol Allen and her husband Karl, Tony Hulsey and his wife DeShannon, Donna Huff and her husband Ben, Greg Wilkins and his wife Stacey, Jeff Wilkins and his wife Jackie, and Shannon Hunter; nine great-grandchildren, Lindy, Garrett and Ella Steward, Noah, Eli, and Lucas Huff, McKenzley and Emmalee Hulsey, and Colton (Jordan) Duke; and a great-great-grandchild, Jenna Duke.
Pallbearers were Johnathan Steward, Charles Steward, Jeff Steward, Tony Hulsey, Ben Huff, Karl Allen and Colton Duke.
Mrs. Ficklen was born on July 8, 1925 to Geather and Mary Hendrix. She was employed at Kitty Stone Elementary School for 27 years until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Asberry Baptist Church. She was known as Nannie to her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, hosting events and baking friendship cakes and Amish bread.
Her first husband of 28 years John Palmer, her second husband of 18 years Tony Ficklen, her parents Geather and Mary Hendrix, her brothers, James Hendrix, Earl Hendrix and Lewis Hendrix and one sister, Evada Llompart preceded her in death.
PETERS
Services for Deacon Charles “Brutonville” Peters, 73, were at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Roosevelt Parker Sr. officiated. Burial was in the Anniston Memorial Gardens. Ervin Funeral Chapel directed.
Mr. Peters died Aug. 21 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center, Anniston.
Survivors include his wife, MelJoyce Peters of Brutonville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and John Moody of Anniston and Diana and Sylvester White, of Jacksonville; a son and daughter-in-law Eugene and Veronica Glenn of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a special sister, Mildred Peters of Brutonville; two brothers-in-law, Buster and his wife June Brown of Rome Ga. and Daniel Glenn of Angleton, Texas and his mother-in-law, Viola Rush, of Jacksonville.
FLUKER
Services for Jo Ann Fluker, 64, of Oxford were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at New Prospect Baptist Church. Rev. Sloan Gresham officiated. Burial was in Eden Hills Cemetery. Ervin Funeral Chapel directed.
Mrs. Fluker died Sept. 5 at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Sylvester Fluker of Oxford; two daughters and a son-in-law, Tunja and Anthony Riley and Sherlyn Kelley all of Oxford; three sons and daughters-in-law, Rony and Tracey Kelley of Virginia Beach, Va., Wendell and Shaun Kelley Oxford and Aaron and Christa Kelley of Jacksonville; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Eva Mae Rainey of Durham, N.C., Madlene Kite, of Hobson City and Shirley and Percy Will Fluker of Oxford; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Lue Isa Lowery and Billy and Elizabeth Lowery of Durham, N.C., and William and Linda Faye Kelley of Oxford; three step daughters, Quintan Wintan Winsay of Atlanta, June Fluker of Anniston and Tracey Fluker, of Rome Ga.; two step sons, Terry Fluker and Jerry Fluker of Rome, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Fluker was born to the late Charlie Kelley Sr. and Naree Kelley on Nov. 25, 1943 in Oxford. She joined the New Prospect Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Grant.
She was a life long member, serving as chairperson of the Nurses Gill, Matrons and Program Committee of the choir.
She remained dedicated until her health started to fail. She worked as a LPN for more than 30 years before retiring to help her husband in the family business.
GOREY
Services for William Norman Gorey, 85, of Panama City were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at First Baptist Church in Parker, Fla. Burial was in Garden of Memories.
Mr. Gorey died Sept. 4 at Bay Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years Fay Holifield Gorey of Panama City; two sons and daughters-in-law, William N. Jr. and Jean Gorey of Pensacola and Duane T. and Lisa Gorey of Panama City; a daughter, Gail Rice of Morristown, Tenn.; four grandchildren, John W. Rice and his wife Rebeka and Laura E. Rice of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mackenzie Gorey and Emily Gorey of Panama City; a brother, George L. Gorey of Jacksonville and a sister, Mildred Reaves of Jacksonville.
Honorary pallbearers were the senior men’s Sunday school class and deacons of First Baptist Church of Parker and Marty Martin.
Mr. Gorey was born Oct. 10, 1922 in Calhoun County, son of the late William and Jesse Boozer Gorey.
He retired as master sergeant from the U. S. Air Force having served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam after which he worked 10 years in civil service. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and singing in the choir of First Baptist Church of Parker of which he was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher.
His sisters Jewel Harcrow and Elwanda Hughes preceded him in death.
Memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Parker for the children’s camp fund.
POWER
Services Julian Warren Power, 78, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at Emmanuel Holiness Church, Jacksonville. Revs. Marshall Dye and Carey Dye officiated. Burial with military honors was in Piedmont Memory Gardens. Folsom Funeral Home directed.
Mr. Power died Sept. 11 at Riverview Hospital, Gadsden.
Survivors include his wife; Jimmie L. Power; stepchildren, Jackie Dean Pogue, Janice Wise, Brenda Bishop, John Wayne Pogue, Shelby Smith, Brenda Gail Guevara Debra Evans, Kathy Brown, Sandra Adams, Lisa Hindickson, Chris Fordham, Tabatha Rowland, and Rocky Fordham; a sister, Enid Willingham and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Grandsons were pallbearers.
A native of Gadsden, Mr. Power was born on Aug. 8, 1930 the son of the late Ernest Oswalt and Bessie Brooks Power. He was a member of the Emmanuel Holiness Church of Jacksonville and was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from SCT Yarns. His first wife Bessie Power preceded him in death in 1996. He was married
on May 9, 1998 to the former Jimmie L. Shell.
