MARGARET (PEGGY) ANN GREEN

Margaret (Peggy) Ann Green, 76, of Enterprise went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Lee Street Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Doster and Richard Green officiating.

Burial will follow in Meadowlawn cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. Mrs. Green will be taken to the church one hour before service time. The family will receive friends at Searcy Funeral Home Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorials may be made to her home church, Lee Street Baptist Church, 630 East Lee Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.

Mrs. Green was an active member of the Lee Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Buck Green; her parents, Richard and Orene Reaves; a granddaughter and grandson, Jeremy and Angel Seay; and a niece, Allison Fagley.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Richard Green and Janice (Duke) Green of Evans, Ga.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Cathy and Lee Brown and Diane Biddle, both Enterprise and Cindy Green of Madison, Va.; 10 grandchildren, Chris Brown (Paula), Wayne Brown (Amanda), Michael Medley (fiance', Julie Fuller), Christi Spivey, Bryan Spivey (Judilynn), Peter, Jonathan (Vanessa), Shelly Green, Karen Oliver (Lowell) and Tera Wilhite; one brother, Bobby Reaves (Edith); one sister, Ollie Black (Ray); 17 great-grandchildren; several loving and caring nieces and nephews.

BRYAN LEWIS

Bryan Lewis, 48, of Troy, and formerly of Level Plains, passed away, Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 in Baptist Health Hospital, Montgomery.

He was a 1981 graduate of Enterprise High School.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 2 at First Baptist Church of Level Plains with Rev. Mike Foreman officiating. The family will receive friends and family in the church Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Brian was a creative person who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and found beauty in everything around him. He loved the outdoors and especially camping with his family at the Smoky Mountains. He had a kind spirit and open heart to animals and took in many strays throughout his life. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: S.O.S. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnie Green and Leola Lewis of Victoria, Leslie J. and Bonnie Mae Coker of Center Hill, Fla.; uncle, David J. Coker, USN; aunt, Evelyn Coker Girard and a cousin, Richie Prosser.

DAVID RAY PARDON

David Ray Pardon, 55, of Lewisburg passed away Monday Feb.28, 2011, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday March 3, 2011, at Carr & Erwin Chapel with interment in Diana Cemetery.

Mr. Pardon was the son of Dean Pardon and the late Margaret Parks Pardon. He worked at Daily's Quick Mart in Lewisburg.

Survivors include his father Dean Pardon of Lewisburg; son Allan David Pardon of Daleville; sister Roxanne Fleming of Lewisburg; and several aunts and uncles also survive.

DOLORES A. DOTY

Dolores A. Doty, 77, of Enterprise passed away Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, at the chapel of Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. James Endrihs officiating.

Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory cemetery in Dothan with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday.

Mrs. Doty was the Crossing Guard at Pinedale Elementary School for 13 years, and was also employed with Medical Center Enterprise for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip E. Doty; two daughters, Terry Richard and Medina Doty; her natural father, Robert Himes; her mother and father, Ethel and Ed Kleitz; and two brothers, Robert and Charles Kleitz.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia Y. Buchanan (Floyd) and Dana D. Mayhair (Hamp), all of Enterprise and Patricia J. Brannon (Ricky) of Samson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip C. Doty (Patricia) Enterprise and David A. Doty (Laura) of Dublin, Ohio; 10 sisters and brothers; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special in-laws, George and Diane Richard.

BILLY RAY (BILL) JACKSON

Billy Ray (Bill) Jackson, 71, of Enterprise passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011. He passed away doing what he loved, fishing.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2011, at the chapel of Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory with Rheames Scott, Steven Young and Dr. Michael Mynatt officiating.

Burial will follow in New Brockton City cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.

Memorials may be made to: Alabama Baptist Children's Home, 1302 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, AL 36301.

Bill served 35 years in the 131st Support Battalion, Detachment D, Company B of the Alabama National Guard. He was an ordained deacon, former Sunday School teacher and held a number of church offices. He was the son of the late Dick and Gertrude Jackson of New Brockton.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carol Jackson; one daughter and son-in-law, Natasha and Patrick Wood of Bainbridge, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Jennifer Hollinghead Jackson of Enterprise; two grandsons, Jackson and Andrew Wood; one granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Jackson; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Avalene and Jack Reynolds, Peggy and Austin Mixon, Lou and Bobby Meredith and Debra Jackson; one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Brenda Jackson; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Skip and Cheryl Reynolds; and several nieces, nephews and many close friends.

RUTH SUMMERLIN

Ruth Summerlin, 74, of New Brockton passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at the family residence.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21, at the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise with the Rev. Ray Layton officiating.

Burial followed in Bethany Baptist Church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise directing.

Mrs. Summerlin was born April 26, 1936 in Covington County to the late Roosevelt and Florence Spinks Driggers. She was a member of the Wooten Chapel Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her husband, James E. 'Bud' Summerlin of New Brockton; sister, Eleanor McKenzie of New Brockton; brothers, Dewey Driggers of New Brockton and James Becker Jr. of Daleville; and two nephews, James and Joseph McKenzie.

ANDREW 'DREW' RICHTERS

Andrew 'Drew' Richters, 45, of Clayhatchee passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Flowers Hospital.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, at the chapel Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Chad Hixson officiating.

Drew was employed as an Aircraft Mechanic at Pemco of Dothan and most recently with AFS at Fort Rucker.

GEORGIA NELL STRICKLAND

Georgia Nell Strickland, 68, of Enterprise passed away, Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, in Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 24, at the chapel of Searcy Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Hill officiating.

Burial will follow in Meadowlawn cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Doak; her husband, the Rev. Walter M. Strickland; and a son-in-law, Bruce Adkinson.

Survivors include a daughter, Daphne Adkinson of Enterprise; her mother, Ruby Nell Dykes; sister, Gloria Ayhens (Bob) of Ozark; brothers, Gene Dykes (Ellen) of Jacksonville and Glenn Dykes (Ruth) of Enterprise; and five grandchildren.

GEORGIE (BRUNER) ROBERTS HOPKINS

Evangelist Georgie (Bruner) Roberts Hopkins was born Dec. 19, 1922 in Ozark to Jewel Gilmore Brown and John Bruner. She passed away in Pennsylvania on Jan. 17, 2011. She transitioned to be with the Lord on Monday, January 17, 2011.

Evangelist Hopkins was reared and educated in Enterprise (Coffee County) Alabama. She received Christ at a very young age and was baptized with the Holy Spirit, receiving many gifts. Sharing God's Word was the top priority of her calling in Christ. She attended school in Alabama and continued to be a life-long learner both spiritually and academically. She moved to Chester, Pa., where she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late James H. Hopkins Sr. A virtuous wife, mother and grandmother, Evangelist Hopkins loved children and would return to Alabama to serve as a teacher's assistant in the Foster Grandmother Program at Hillcrest Elementary School for 22 years. She built and was founding pastor of the True Light Pentecostal Church in Enterprise. She enjoyed reciting poetry and singing. She loved to laugh, sew, and cook. She shared her life with many people.

Suvivors left to cherish her precious memories include her beloved children, Betty Young (Julius), Elder Janette Hopkins Branch, Marian Hopkins, James H. Hopkins, the Rev. Dr. Edna Hopkins Rozier (Herman), David J. Hopkins, Dorita Hopkins, John Hopkins and Dennis Hopkins, Esquire; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Roberts and Anna Williams; nine grandchildren, Julie, Vivian, Julius Jr., Melissa, Samuel III, Johnathan, Omar, Asan and Krystle; one grandson, Merle, who preceded his grandmother in death. Evangelist Hopkins also leaves to cherish precious memories a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Anna; and many other family members and friends.

MELODY MCDOUGAL

Melody McDougal, 55, of Enterprise died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, March 4, at the Mark Griffith Memorial Funeral Home, Westwood Chapel, in Tulsa, Okla. A Celebration of Life service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 6, at the Wiregrass Club, Dale County Rd 1 in Level Plains.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends make a contribution to a charity of their choice.

Melody was born on Nov. 10, 1955, in Tulsa, to Jack and Jewell Stewart. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Torrance, Calif., where they lived for several years. Her family then moved to Bend, Ore. She also lived in Tulsa, Lawton, Okla., Silsbee, Texas, Port Orange, Fla., and finally, Enterprise. She was a newspaper journalist in Oregon, Texas and Alabama; she also worked as a Police Identification Clerk. She was a news director and occasional DJ for radio stations in Bend, Daytona Beach, Fla., and several stations in Southeast Alabama. She was skilled at embroidery and counted cross stitch and enjoyed travel and camping. Her family and friends will remember her as loving, caring, kind, trustworthy, and faithful. Her presence here on earth will be sorely missed by many. She is at peace, no longer in pain, and enjoying a heartfelt reunion with loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her father Jack Stewart; her mother Jewell Stewart; her sister Deloris Hogard; and two nephews, Michael Waldron Jr. and Michael McIver.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin McDougal, whom she married on Nov. 11, 1978; daughters, Heidi McDougal of Enterprise, and Jennifer Smith with grandchildren Dakota Wright and Cassidy Wright of Portland, Ore.; stepdaughter, Amy Kearnes and husband Lawrence Calvin Kearnes III with grandchildren Samantha Fields, Dallas J. Fields, Katie Kearnes, and Zachary Kearnes, Casey Kearnes and Brooke Kearnes, all of Locust Grove, Va., Becky Beckett with grandchildren Alissa Beckett and Spencer Beckett, of Canton, Ga.; two sisters, Margaret Speer and husband Jack of Albuquerque of New Mexico and Karen Obye and husband Allan of Las Vegas, Nev.; niece Vicky Wilson; and nephews Mike Speer Patrick McIver and Shawn Smith.
