Funeral services for Teresa Moatts Reed, 46, Clanton, will be at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Ron Cox and Rev. Jay Hurd officiating. Burial will follow at Clanton City cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Reed was born on Dec. 21, 1954, in Chilton County, the daughter of Paul and Jewel Moatts. She was a nurse. She died on June 9, 2001. Survivors include her husband, Michael B. Reed, Sr., Clanton; her father, Paul Moatts, Clanton; her mother, Jewel M. Moatts, Clanton; one sister, Sherry M. Griffin, Thorsby; one brother, Garry R. Moatts, Merritt Island, Fla.; one grandmother, Lula M. Miller, Clanton; one step-daughter, Amber Reed, Grand Rapids, Mich.; five step-sons, Michael Bruce Reed, Jr., and Nathan Reed, both of Birmingham; Christopher Reed and Robert Reed, both of Nauvoo; and two step-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund, P. O. Box 650309, Dallas, Texas 75265-0309 in memory of Teresa Reed. A special card will be sent to the family in recognition of your gifts.

Moatts, Thomas Raymond 'Ray'

Funeral services for Thomas Raymond (Ray) Moatts, 74, Clanton, will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at 3 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jay Hurd and Rev. Cecil Little officiating. Burial will follow at Clanton City cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Moatts was born on Oct. 22, 1925, in Chilton County, the son of Rudolph and Annie Bell Moatts. He was a butcher. He died on Aug. 6, 2000, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. Survivors include his wife, Frances M. Moatts, Clanton; one son, Michael T. Moatts, Clanton; three brothers, Paul Moatts and Morris Moatts, Clanton, and H. H. Moatts, Birmingham.

Walker, Johnnie Lee (Mobley)
July 30, 1943 - November 27, 1999
Funeral services for Johnnie Lee Walker, 56, Maplesville, will be held at University Highway Church of God in Maplesville on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Ikard and Rev. John Jacks officiating. Burial will follow at University Highway Church of God in Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will include Leon Dees, Jeffrey Redding, Daniel Sims, Kevin Walker, Fred Hayes, Jerry Hayes, Bill Hayes, and Bob Hayes. Honorary pallbearers include the employees of Twin City Security and Ronnie and Shirley Rigsby. Walker was born on July 30, 1943, in Chilton County, the daughter of Lannice Barrett Mobley and the late Williard Mobley. She was a security guard. She died on Nov. 27, 1999, in Sterling, Va. Survivors include three daughters, Christy Mobley, Pinson, and Penny Richardson and Betty Jean Walker, both of Sterling, Va.; five sisters, Dora Hayes, Maplesville, Molly Dees, Verbena and Merle Walker, Neva Willette, and Gail Marchant, all of Plantersville; her mother, Lannice Barrett Mobley, Plantersville; three brothers, Douglas Mobley and Eugene Mobley, both of Plantersville, and Roy Mobley, Pinson; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Willard Mobley.

Mobley, Mary Jewell
July 29, 1922 - September 20, 2003
Mary Mobley, 81, died Sept. 20. She is survived by her husband, Benard Earl "Ben" Mobley; son, Johnny (Mildred) Green; grandson, Elzie (Mystic) Green; granddaughter, Jennifer (William) Simmons and great-grandchildren, Kacey Simmons, Katelyn Green and Deanna Green. She was preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Sara Arant. Funeral services were held Sept. 22 at Northside Baptist Church with burial in Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton, Ala. Reverends Zack Bates and Bruce Payton will officiate the services.

Mitchell, Nannie Lucille 'Helen' (Moody)
November 21, 1909 - January 20, 2000
Funeral services for Lucille Moody Mitchell, 90, Montevallo, were held at Enon Baptist Church in Montevallo, on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, with Rev. Pat Minshew, Rev. John Duncan, and Rev. Ed Ables officiating. Burial followed at Enon cemetery in Montevallo, with Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo directing. Pallbearers included her grandson and great-grandchildren. Mitchell was a homemaker and a member of Enon Baptist Church. She was a member of Family and Community Education (Extension Homemakers). She was given a 50-year appreciation award from the Home Economics Program on March 14, 1986. She died on Jan. 20, 2000. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy M. Lucas and A. Eloise Edwards, both of Montevallo; two sisters, Linda Keith, New Market, and Jeannette Frith, Centreville; one brother, George Moody, Centreville; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Brontsema, Cora Isabelle (Moore)

Funeral services for Cora (Moore) Brontsema, 84, were held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Verbena Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Brontsema was born on Nov. 1, 1917, in Alabama. She was a credit manager. She died on Nov. 25, 2001. Survivors include her husband, John Brontsema; one son, Edward Griffin; one step-son, Frank Brontsema; one daughter, Mary Reba Scarbrough; one step-daughter, Kathy Brontsema; one brother, George Moore; one sister, Pearl Rennis; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Moore, Elizabeth May

Mrs. Elizabeth Moore, age 95, died at her home in South Clanton Feb. 26. Funeral was at her home, burial was at Samaria Baptist Cemetery. Mrs. Moore was Miss Elizabeth Askins before her marriage 80 years ago to Mr. Lunceford Moore who died in July 1916. She was born and reared at Coopers and married at age 15. she is survived by 4 Sons, Prof. J. Watts Moore, J. W. Moore, George L. Moore, and John H. Moore, there are 4 Daughters, Mrs. Corinna Brigance, Mrs. Survilla Brigance, Mrs. Etta Taylor, and Mrs. Lula Pearson, one living Brother, David Askins, of Phoenix, Arizona.

Smith, Frances (Moore)
March 20, 1908 - June 19, 1999
Funeral services for Frances Hubert Smith, 91, formerly of Clanton, were held at First Baptist Church of Clanton, June 23, 1999 with Rev. Larry J. Michael and Rev. J. Hurd officiating. Burial followed in the Clanton cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Smith was the Daughter of Pinkney Madison Moore and Scottie Sears Moore. She was born on March 20, 1908, in Clanton. She died on June 19, 1999, in Yorktown, Va., at York Convalescent Center. She was a graduate of Alabama College (the University of Montevallo) and was a retired school teacher, having taught in the schools of Chilton County for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Thomas H. Hubert, Jr., and Marion S. Smith. Smith belonged to and was active in a number of organizations, including the National Education Association; the Alabama Education Association; Chilton County Retired Teacher's Association; United Daughters of the Confederacy, where she was chaplain for many years; the Eastern Star, where she was a past worthy matron; and the Clanton Garden Club (retired). She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clanton, taught a Sunday School class for many years, and belonged to the Prayer Group Circle. After retiring from teaching school in 1972 on a Friday, she went to the hospital in Clanton on the following Monday and began working as a Pink Lady, a role in which she continued for the next 23 years, totaling 11, 125 hours before retiring again. That job she used to say, was most rewarding, as teaching had been, though in a different way. Survivors included two daughters, Priscilla Hubert Collins, Yorktown, Va., and Sharon Brooks Hubert Davis, Atwater, Calif.; one son, Thomas H. Hubert III, St. Louis, Mo.; a step-daughter, Martha Smith Bishop, Haleyville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a niece and a nephew.

Cleveland, Gladys (Moore)
October 04, 1912 - June 11, 2000
Graveside services for Gladys (Moore) Cleveland, 87, were held on June 13, 2000 at Sandy Chapel cemetery in Centreville, with Rev. Pete Fancher officiating. A native of Lawley, Ala., Cleveland died on June 11, 2000 at her residence. A member of Rehobeth Baptist Church, Cleveland is survived by two sons, Oliver Cleveland of Thorsby and George Marvin Cleveland of Selma; six daughters, Annette Morrison of Birmingham, Mary Ann Pratt of Prattville, Dorothy Fancher of Lawley, Edith Jane Smith of Lawley, Maureen Benson of Maplesville and Sharon Creel of Lawley; two brothers, Leroy Moore of Zeblin, Ga., and Jackson Moore of Leesburg, Ga.; two sisters, Louvene Smith of Lawley and Evelyn Cauley of Albany, Ga.; 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Billy Glenn Pratt, Kenneth Riley, Alford Posey, Greg Smith, David Benson and Jeremy Benson. Arrangements were under the direction of Rockco's Funeral Home in Centreville.

Moore, Harvey
1891 - August 07, 1933
Harvey Moore, age 44, was killed Aug. 7, at a Saw Mill in the State of Washington. He was reared here and was the Son of Former Sheriff Pink M. Moore. His Body was cremated and will be returned her later. He left a Wife, one Son, and one Daughter.
The cremated body of Mr. Harvey H. Moore, age 42, who died in Kelso Washington, Aug. 12, 1933, arrived in Clanton this week. The Ashes were buried in the P.M. Moore Lot of Clanton City Cemetery. He was the son of P.M. Moore and his First Wife. Ashes were buried last Firday. Two full Sisters are Mrs. Bama Cox and Mrs. Frank Foshee.

Moore, Jessie Belle (Hayes)

Funeral services for Jessie Belle Hayes Moore, 92, of Randolph, were held on Thursday, August 7, 1997 at the Macedonia Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with the Reverends Gene Hithcock and G. C. Guthrie officiating. Burial was held at the Macedonia Baptist cemetery in Randolph with the Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Moore was born in Chilton County on November 17, 1904 to the late Azor Hayes and Mary Smitherman Hayes. She died at Greensboro Health Care in Greensboro on August 4, 1997. She is survived by two sons and a daughter, James M Moore, Fultondale; David L. Moore, Greensboro; Mary Belle Harrison, Helena; a brother and two sisters, Willie Hayes, Clanton; Nettie Dick, Birmingham; Mary Lee Blue, Jones; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Moore, Louise (Hilyer)

Funeral services for Louise (Hilyer) Moore, 77 and a resident of Childersburg, will be held today, Thursday, June 7, 2001 at 3 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Chapel in Sylacauga. Interment will follow at Evergreen cemetery in Sylacauga. Born on Oct. 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Stephen H. Hilyer, Jr. and the late Mollie Hilyer. A homemaker, she died on June 6, 2001 at Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Moore, and a daughter, Paulette Moore. She is survived by three sons, Steve Moore and wife, Judy, of Childersburg; Rodney Moore and wife, Pat, of Sylacauga; and Tim Moore and wife, Angel, of Sylacauga; a daughter Sammie Roberts and husband, Junior, of Ruskin; two sisters, Ruby Wilson of Sylacauga, and Lois DeLoach of Clanton; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Moore, Lunsford
January 29, 1836 - July 10, 1916
Death of Mr. Lunsford Moore due to a stroke of Paralysis. He lived one mile South of Clanton, was 80 years old. He was a Confederate Veteran. Survived by Widow and 2 Sons, Prof. J.W. Moore, and J. Watts Moore, burial was at Samaria.

Morgan, Edith Auburn

Edith Auburn Morgan, 94, of Columbiana, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2003. She was born in Alabama on Sunday, Feb. 14, 1909, the daughter to Mr. David Crockett Hand and Mrs. Amanda Levina Spain Hand. She and her husband founded Wildwood Chapel and she was also known as a minister in her own right. Funeral services will be held at Charter Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2003 with burial in Pinelawn. Rev. Darian Holcombe and Rev. Wayne Bullard will be officiating. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Morgan. Survivors include her three sons, Gary Holcombe (Brenda) of Columbiana, Duane Holcombe (Joan) of Canon, Ga., and Dalwyn Holcombe (Melissa) of Plant City, Fl., two daughters, Yvonne David (Chandler) of Montevallo and Sharon Garrison of Columbiana; one sister Veomi Klinstler of Brantleyville; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Also Mrs. Morgan is survived by other family and friends in Chilton County.

Gray, Josephine 'Jodie' (Morgan)

Mrs. A .J. Gray died at Home of M. M. Gray on March 19, she died of Flu and Pneumonia at age 74. Left 4 Sons, Charlie C. Gray of Texas, M. M. Gray and Omar Gray of Sylacauga, Willie Gray of Clanton. Three Daughter, Mrs. Katie Bone of Talladega, Mrs. Nettie Summerlin of Clanton, and Mrs. Lela Scott of Verbena. Burial was at Bethany.

Mrs. R. L. Wright, Emaline, who died Jan. 13, survived by Sons, George Wright of Sylacauga, Martin V. Wright of Coopers, Jesse Wright of Clanton, Grady Wright of Billingsley, and Mrs. Alice Mims of Clanton.

Morris, William J. 'Will'
April 25, 1870 - December 31, 1924
William J. Morris died last Wed., Dec. 31, age 55 of Cancer of the stomach. He moved to Chilton County from Coosa Co. 15 years ago. Burial was at Liberty Hill. He left Widow and 3 children. He was a faithful member of Liberty Hill. Children are: Clyde Morris, Mrs. Marie Littlejohn and Estelle Morris.
William J. Morris, born Coosa Co. 1870, joined Baptist Church as a Young Man, first married Miss Ada Hull in 1893. Two Daughters: Miss Estell Morris of Birmingham and Mrs. Marie Littlejohn of Clanton. Their Mother died 12-28-1905. Second Wife: Miss Fannie LeCroy married 8-6-1911, one Son Clyde Morris.

Funeral services for Edith B. Hesler, 96, Clanton, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton, on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donnie Messer. Burial will follow at Popwell cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Hesler was born on Dec. 19, 1903, in Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Rufus and Fannie Morrison. She was a laborer. She died on Nov. 7, 2000, at Beverly East Nursing Home in Birmingham. Survivors include one son, Earl Hesler, Clanton; one daughter, Betty Wilson, Thorsby; one half-brother Orbie G. Green, Calera; 12 Grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alzie D. Hesler.
