Burial was in Cedar Grove Methodist cemetery in Thorsby with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Thornton was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Chilton County to the late Lonne Price and Mary Melton Price. She was a homemaker. She died Jan. 8, 2000, at her residence. She is survived by three daughters: Alice Faye McCraw of Maplesville, Kay Wilson of Clanton and Pamela Graham of Clanton; three sons: Jimmy C. Thornton of Maplesville, Eddie Frank Thornton of Selma and Timothy Thornton of Selma; two sisters: Dollie Price of Lomax and Margie Deason of Gordo; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. B. Thornton, a son, Jeffrey Thornton and a brother, Julius "Jack" Thornton.

Services for Todd Randol Price, 22, of Clanton, were held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel Monday, April 18 with Rev. Tony Smitherman officiating. Burial followed in the Martin Memorial Cemetery. Price died Sunday, April 17 at Chilton Medical Center. Survivors include his father, Roy Price of Clanton; mother, Belinda H. Price of Clanton; brother, Brad Price of Clanton; two sisters, Sonja Price Bice of Clanton and Tonja Price Crumpton of Clanton; grandparents, Melvin and Eunice Headley of Clanton and John and Louise Price of Thorsby.

Freeman, Jr. and Maudie Freeman, both of Birmingham; a brother, Joe Raines, of Cheshire, Conn.; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services for Charles William Rasberry, Sr., 85, of Millbrook were Feb. 21, 1998, at Prattville Memory Gardens with Rev. Fred Donovan officiating and Prattville Memorial Chapel directing. Mr. Rasberry, a former resident of Clanton, died Feb. 20, 1998, at a Montgomery hospital. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Martin Rasberry; a daughter, Peggy R. Thompson of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two sisters: Frances R. Sexton of Maplesville and Sara Alice Taylor of Inderatlantic, Fla. Pallbearers were Richard Sexton, Mike Clenner, Gene Taylor, Chip Norris, Brad Norris and Robert Hayes.

Funeral services for Emily Allene Hayes, 93 of Thorsby, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Powell and Rev. Rick Glenn officiating. Burial followed at Macedonia Baptist cemetery in Maplesville. Born on March 22, to William Green Rasberry and Ida Mae Rasberry, she died May 22, 2003 at her residence in Thorsby. Survivors include her sons, James William (Marie) Hayes of Thorsby, Harold M. (Peggy) Hayes of Thorsby, David L. (Ann) Hayes of Thorsby and Lowell Douglas (Nell) Hayes of Thorsby; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James David Hayes.

Burial was in Macedonia Baptist cemetery in Jemison with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Rasberry was born July 29, 1910, in Alabama tot he late Albert and Nolie Atchinson. She was a homemaker. She died Dec. 24, 1998, at Shelby Medical Center in Alabsaster. She is survived by two sons: Hanel Rasberry of Montgomery and Himen Rasberry of Thorsby; two daughters: Kathleen Underwood of Birmingham and Kate Smith of Jemison; a brother, James Atchinson of Fruito, Col.; two sisters: Ester Wright of Houston, Tex., and Majorie Felts of Selma; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ermon Rasberry, and a son, Calvin Rasberry.

Interment will follow at Macedonia Church Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2001 at Martin Funeral Home. Born on May 20, 1918 in Chilton County to the late Fleetwood Rasberry and Annie Childress Rasberry, he was a retired US Steel worker. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for numerous years and was honored in 1996 as Deacon Emeritus. He died at his residence on Jan. 22, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Glasscock Rasberry; two sons, Jimmy W. Rasberry, of Maplesville and Danny Rasberry of Stanton; four daughters, Emma Jean Johnson of Tuscaloosa, Betty Rasberry of Pelham, Sue Lenoir of Maplesville and Debbie Trent of Prattville; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Rasberry and Coy Rasberry, both of Jemison; three sisters, Emmarene Crane of Jemison, Dorothy Gibson of Maplesville, and Lucile Tucker of Birmingham and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ada E. Ratliff, 87, Clanton, were held on Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Maplesville Methodist Church, with Rev. Earl Watson officiating. Burial followed in Tabernacle Methodist Church cemetery in Lawley, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Ratliff was born on March 31, 1912, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late John C. and Drucilla Chapman. She was a homemaker. She died on Oct. 30, 1999, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton. Survivors include four sons, Sidney Ratliff, Lawley; Gerald Ratliff and Johnny Ratliff, both of Prattville; and Jerry Ratliff, Sylvan Springs; one daughter, Janice Hayes, Maplesville; two brothers, Jewel Chapman and Glenn Chapman, both of Lawley; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Interment followed at Jones cemetery in Jemison. Born on July 9, 1930 in Alabama, he was the son of the late Earnest Ratliff Sr. and Flora Ratliff. A paper converter and Army veteran, he died on Oct 6, 2000 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. He is survived by his wife, Violet Ratliff of Jemison; a son and daughter-in-law, Edwin Jeffrey and Rhonda Ratliff of Jemison; a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie R. and Mark Nelson, of Jemison; two grandsons, Edwin Jeremy Ratliff and Shannon Nelson, both of Jemison; a granddaughter, Shelly Nelson of Jemison; four brothers, Rev. Willard Ratliff of Maplesville, Cecil Ratliff of Maplesville, S.B. Ratliff of Selma and Bill Ratliff of Montgomery; and two sisters, Pauline Payton of McCalla and Jean Tatum of Deatsville.

Ray, Johnnie B. J.

Funeral services for Johnnie B. J. Ray, 82, Jemison, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 22, 2001, at 3 p.m., with Rev. Douglas Scott and Rev. Timothy Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Posey cemetery in Jemison, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Ray was born on Sept 20, 1918, in Chilton County, the son of the late Tom Ray and the late Rosanna Ray. He was a farmer and served in the Army from Jan. 27, 1943 until Dec. 12, 1945. He died on June 19, 2001, at his residence. Survivors include three sons, Edward Ray and Travis Ray. both of Jemison, and Jerry Ray, Clanton; two daughters, Gladys Langston, Thorsby, and Sue Clark, Clanton; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ruth Silas, 85 of Deatsville died on Friday, April 18, 2003. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2003 at Ridout's Prattville Chapel with Rev. Jim Graham officiating. Burial followed at Wadsworth Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Silas was preceded in death by her husband W. C. Wiggins, one son Raymond Silas and father of their children Neal Silas. She is survived by fours sons Emmett (Vickie) Silas, David (Tammie) Silas, Ronie (Jeannie) Silas and Randy (Vickie) Silas, all of Prattville; one daughter-in-law (June) Silas of Prattville; four daughters Betty (Carl) Bishop of Mobile, Ruby (Albert) Montgomery of Deatsville, Sara Silas of Deatsville and Brenda (David) Kaiser of Gulf Shores; three step-daughters Aileen Wiggins (Husky) Leslie Burks (Gene) of Robertsdale and Agnes (Dale) Faust of McKenzie; two sisters Gadie Mullins of Clanton and Wilma Owens of Clanton; two brothers Carson Ray of Prattville and Aubrey Ray of Deatsville; 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and many loving friends. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 20. Active pallbearers were Wendal Silas, Wade Silas, Mike Cowling, Stan Cowling, Bill Cowling, Steve Montgomery, Chris Farmer, Neal Silas and John Silas. Honorary pallbearers were John David Silas and Dylan Silas. Alternate pallbearer was Phillip Bentley. A special thanks to the staff of Autumn Place Assisted Living, Millbrook, and Wiregrass Hospice.

She was a homemaker. She died on Aug. 8, 2000, at Healthsouth Montgomery Rehab. Survivors include two daughters, Gulma Heflin, Albany, Ga., and Marjorie Chancellor, Pinehurst, N.C.; three sons, Thomas Traywick, Maple, N.C., Roger Traywick, Headland, and Len Traywick, Montgomery; three sisters, Gatie Mullins and Wilma Owens, both of Clanton, Ruth Silas, Prattville; two brothers, Aubrey Ray, Wetumpka, and John Ray, Prattville; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard L. Traywick.

Ray of Prattville; sons Kenny Ray of Clanton and Barry Ray of Clanton; daughters Helen Price of Thorsby, Fay Groom of Maplesville, Diane Tubbs of Clanton, Pay Ray of Clanton and Thonda Giles of Jemison; step-son Don Turner of Billingsley; brothers Duvard Ray of Jemison and Spence Ray of Jemison; sisters Arlethia Price of Thorsby and Gladys Price of Thorsby; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She is survived by sons David Stough of Maplesville and Michael Stough of Elreno, Okla.; daughters Martina Stough Austin of Clanton, Tammy Stough Roper of Billingsley and Kelly Stough Harrison of Maplesville; three sisters and two brothers in Germany, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
