Visitation will be at Messmer-Goodwin on Friday, January 1, 1999 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Funeral service will be on Saturday, January 2, 1999 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Norman Dunlap officiating. Burial will be at Morris Cemetery in Morris, AL. Survivors include her daughters, Chee Chee Andrews of Marietta, GA, and Charlotte Gooringer of Columbus, GA; sisters Jerry R. Ehrgood of Columbus, GA and Margueritte Franklin of Warrior, AL; brothers, Edward Rickels of Warrior, AL and Kenneth L. Rickels of Birmingham, AL; and two grandchildren. Messmer-Goodwin Funeral Home Warrior directing.

Echols, Eric Lanier, age 40, of Birmingham, died Tuesday, December 29th, 1998. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 2nd at 2:00 P.M. at Smith & Gaston Southside Chapel with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Survivors include: four sisters, Linda Wilder of Chicago, Ollie Richardson (Michael) of Indianapolis, Lurena and Bilitis Echols of Birmingham; two brothers, Juan Perkins of Anniston and Calvin Echols (Mary) of Birmingham. Smith & Gaston South Side directing.

Sanford, Mrs. Carrah Lee (September 11, 1905-December 31, 1998), age 93, of Bessemer, passed away December 31, 1998 at a local hospital. Visitation will be held Friday, January 1, 1999 from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home (Bessemer, Alabama). Graveside service at Oak Grove Cemetery (Fayette Co.) will be held Saturday, January 2, 1999 at 1:30 P.M. Rev. Gerald Venable officiating. Mrs. Sanford is survived by her: sons, David Sanford and his wife, Faye, of Bessemer, and William D. Sanford and his wife, Gloria, of Mobile; as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Brown Service Bessemer directing.

Upshaw, Myrtice, age 95, of Birmingham, died December 26, 1998. Funeral services will be he ld Saturday, January 2, 1999, at 11:00 a.m. at East End Baptist Church with burial at Shadow Lawn. Survivors include a daughter, Claudia (Louis) Scott; son, James Crawford; four grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Annie Lee Crawford. Bushelon Funeral Home is directing.

Browder, John Darius, Sr., age 56, of Fort Payne, died Thursday, December 31, 1998 at his residence. Mr. Browder was a native of DeKalb County and was employed at Mantience Water Treatment Plant. He was a Methodist. His parents were Johnnie Patrick Browder and Willie Louise Henderson Browder. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 2, at 11 a.m. at Burt Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Green Cemetery. Rev. Jackie Brown officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Burt Funeral Home, Fort Payne. Survivors: wife, Rebecca Sue Pearman Browder; son, John Darius Browder, Jr.; daughters, Rhonda Carol Smith, all of Fort Payne, Rebecca Carleen Murphy of Sylvania; mother, Louise Browder of Fort Payne; sister, Barbara Ruth Browder Gifford of Valley Head; two grandchildren and two step grandchildren. Burt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Wilson, Mr. Andre "Elevator" "OJ", age 41, of Birmingham, died Friday, December 25, 1998. He was self-employed. He was a member of the Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church, Airport, on January 2, 1999, at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Zion Memorial Gardens. Smith & Gaston Southside Chapel directing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Brown Wilson. Survivors include two sons, VerDell Walker and Andre Jones; one daughter, Auntranelia Jones; father, Deacon Oscar L. Wilson; stepmother, Carolyn Wilson; two grandmothers, Mrs. Leila Brown of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Mary F. Stinson of Birmingham; two brothers, Donald (Carrie) Wilson of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Larry Wilson of Ever green; seven sisters, Debra Harris (Bernard), Brenda Stewart (Robert), Greda Ciers (John) and Octavia Wilson, all of Birmingham, Mabel and Gretta Wilson, both of Evergreen, and Cynthia Ware of Camp Hill; one aunt, Ida Moultrie, New York; uncle, William Brown, Jr., San Francisco, Calif.; first cousins, Barbara Ann Gray, Johnathan Moultrie both of Birmingham and Harold Brown, Washington, D.C.; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; two special friends, Dell M. Walker and Priscilla Jones.

Bodine, William, age 86, of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, died December 30, 1998. Graveside at Brighton Cemetery will be held Saturday, January 2, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. Elliot Wilson officiating. Brighton Funeral Home directing.

Pridmore, Mary Helen, age 60, of Birmingham, died December 30, 1998. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 2, at Noon from Oakwood Memorial Gardendale Chapel with burial at Liberty Cemetery. Rev. Williams officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 1, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Gardendale Chapel. Glass, Herman, age 83, of Birmingham, Alabama, died December 30, 1998. Native of Shelby County and lived in Birmingham most of his life. He was a WWII Veteran with 1st Marine Division. Chart er Member of Roebuck Drive United Methodist Church. He was a Mason and a Shriner. Visitation will be Friday from 5:30-8:00 P.M. Chapel service Saturday, January 2, 1999 at 2:00 P.M. Mike Carver, Melody Christolear, and Hubert Robison officiating. Burial in Elmwood. Survivors: wife, Lee Glass of Birmingham; son, Michael Lee (Karen) Glass of Trussville; grandchildren, Andrew Charles Glass, Evelyn Rachel Glass, and Mary Elizabeth Glass; brothers, Dan Glass of Hayden and Lawrence Glass of Tarrant; sisters, Ester Reeves of Waynesville, N. Huddleston, Loretta T., age 81, of Odenville, AL, passed away on December 31, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lamar Huddleston. Survivors include: her two step-children, Danny and Penny Huddleston of Louisiana; sisters, Marcella Guibord of Stone Lake, WI, and Agnes Laronge of Heyward, Wisconsin; and her brothers, Greg Gokey of Heyward, WI, John Gokey of Sunnydale, CA, and Teddy Gokey of Indiana; her beloved niece, Dee Bressette of Stone Lake, WI; and other nieces and nephews. Harris, Mrs. Lillie Mae, 86, of Birmingham, died December 30, 1998. Survivors: three sons, John W. McKenzie, Ethel Dunn, age 84, of Birmingham, Alabama, died December 25, 1998. She was a member of First Baptist Mt. Park. Funeral service at First Baptist Mt. Park will be held Saturday, January 2, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. Burial in Shadow Lawn. Survivor: niece, Mrs. Nellie M. White. Grey Memorial Funeral Home directing.

Lyles, Sarah Ann, age 83 of Birmingham, AL died December 29, 1998 at a local hospital. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist, Bessemer. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 2, 1999 at 1 p.m., the Rev. Victor Harkins officiating at Shady Grove Baptist, 2600 Fairfax Ave., Bessemer. Burial will be at Highland Memorial. She is survived by two sisters, Pauline Smith Henderson, Birmingham, AL, and Etta B. Jones, Mobile, AL; one brother, Percy Smith, Mobile, AL; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. R.L. McCoy, Mrs. Addie Snow, age 87, died Tuesday, December 29, 1998. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 2, 1999, at 12:00 p.m. at Poole Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ralph Bryant officiating. Burial will be at Lewis Family Cemetery in Moundville, AL. Mrs. McCoy was preceded in death by one so n, Mr. James Gee.
