Snodgress, Ernest Charles, age 68, of Birmingham, died February 8, 1999. Funeral services will be Monday, February 14, at 1 p.m. at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Survivors: wife, Lucille C. Snodgress; daughters, Cassandra (Robert) Almon, Marquette Law, Carolyn Yates, and Jacqueline (Eugene) Allen; sons, Gregory C. Snodgress, Ronell Snodgress, and Ernest Snodgress; mother-in-law, Lucille E. Crosby; sisters, Dorothy (Edgar) Johnson, Gloria Brooks, and Althea Ashford; brothers, Melvin (Marguritte) Ashford, Willie (Nora) Ashford, and Larry Ashford; 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; ten nephews, six nieces, two aunts, and a host of cousins and friends. Bushelon Funeral Home directing.

Prouty, Mrs. Pauline Connor, age 91, of Hoover, died Friday, February 12, 1999. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood. Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Snook of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Deborah Jones, Diane Bullock, both of Birmingham, Cindy Williams of Picayune, Miss., Megan Snook and Kelly Snook, both of Marietta, Ga.; ten great-grandchildren and two nieces of Birmingham. Mrs. Prouty was a member of Oakmont United Methodist Church for 40 years and was a member of the 60 Plus Club. the family suggests memorials be sent to Oakmont United Methodist Church. Services are under the direction of Ridout's valley Chapel (879-3401) in Homewood.

Rhodes, Clara L., age 89, a resident of Montgomery and formerly of Gadsden, died on Friday, February 12, 1999. Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 15, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville with the Rev. Elton Beasley officiating. She is survived by one sister, Willie McCullough Beahn of Montgomery; three nephews, Ralph E. McCullough of Montgomery, Johnny Warren Lancaster of Boaz and Leonard Lancaster of Kansas City, Mo.; two nieces, Dorothy Louise Beahn of Sinclaire Shores, MI and Edith Lawrence of Kansas City, MO; also several great nieces and great nephews. Brooks-Cargile directing.

Vann, Alma Lorene (TINY), age 66, of Odenville, died Friday, February 12, 1999. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by all. A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 14, 1999 at 2pm from Kilgroe Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Branchville. Survivors include: husband, Ernest E. Vann; stepdaughters, Claudine McDonald and Ruth Kitchens; sons, Kenneth Charles Glover and Rodger dale Glover; stepson, Larry E. Vann, Sr.; 3 brothers, William (Jack) Sims, Paul Sims and Stanford Sims; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Kilgroe Funeral Home Leeds directing.

Stewart, Dr. Vera Bishop, was born June 5, 1907, in Coldwater, LA, and died at the age of 91 on January 17, 1999. Dr. Stewart attended Mississippi State College for Women and graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical School in 1941. She did her internships in Williamsport, PA, and at Carraway Methodist Hospital in Birmingham, and continued with her residency at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. She married Dr. Roddie L. Stewart in 1934. In 1944, Dr. Vera Stewart started her pediatric s practice in Birmingham and her husband, Dr. Roddie L. Stewart, joined her after World War II. Her practice continued for 25 years until she retired in 1969. Dr. Stewart was Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The University of Alabama Medical School, a member of the Alabama Pediatrics Society, a member of both the Alabama Medical Association and the Jefferson County Medical Association and the American Medical Association, She moved to Riverside, AL, in 1978. She is survived by several nieces a nd nephews. The funeral service is Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at Elmwood Cemetery, with visitation Tuesday at Valley Chapel, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Valley Chapel directing.

Noe, Raymond (R. G.), age 63, of Sulligent, AL, passed away Friday, February 12, 1999 in Sulligent, AL. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 14, 1999 at 2pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Otts Funeral Home of Sulligent directing.

Malinowski, Joanna, age 77 of Austin, Texas, died Saturday, February 13, 1999. Survivors include daughters, Teresa Msciecka of Poland, Barbara Helton of Alabaster, AL, and Bernice Malinowski of Chicago, IL; son, Fred Malinowski and wife, Harriet of Lockhart, TX; grandchildren, Joseph Malinowski, Joanna Helton, and Vicki Waldrep, and great-granddaughter, Hannah Malinowski. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 1999 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home; Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church; burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, all in Austin, TX. Arrangements by Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress, Austin, TX 78704, (512) 442-1446.

Marsh, Lorene Pearl, age 84, of West Blocton, died Saturday, January 16, 1999. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 19, at 2 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home of Centreville with burial at West Scottsville Cemetery. Rev. Randal Krotts and Rev. Frankie Jones officiating. Visitation was Monday, January 18, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors: sons, George F. and wife, Judy Marsh of Birmingham, Benny and wife, Jo Marsh of West Blocton; daughters, Elaine and husband, James Mathews of West Blocton, Della and husband, Donald Patterson of West Bloc ton; brother, Paul Gray of West Blocton; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Moreland, Elder Jesse Willard, age 66, of Pell City, Alabama died on Sunday, February 14, 1999. Moreland was in the ministry for 30 years and served as pastor of New Hope Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Moody, Alabama. A lifelong student of biblical scripture, Moreland wrote and published a book in 1997 entitled "Conditional Resurrection." Moreland was also a writer of poetry and has poems published in the National Library of Poetry's "Best Poems of 1995 and 1996". A native of Odenville, Alabama, Moreland was the son of Ethel and Charlie Moreland. He moved with his family to Phoenix, Arizona in 1957 and worked as a computer systems analyst for Ai Research Manufacturing. he returned to Alabama in 1971 and owned and operated a business in Talladega. Moreland retired and moved to Pell City in 1987. Mr. Moreland is survived by his wife, Nandean; three sons, Jess Moreland, Jr. of Houma, Louisiana, Doug and Paula Moreland of Shalimar, Florida, Brian and Cindi Moreland of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Sandra and Dan Kalinowski of Atlanta, Georgia, and Diane and David Clark of Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Jennifer Moreland Cook, Courtney and Clint Moreland, Kristin Clark, Roman and Sevin Kalinowski, and Brooke and Alexandra Moreland. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Madison and Karson Cook. Moreland is survived by six brothers, Charles, James, Lois, Tommy, David, and Kenneth Moreland, and five sisters, Betty Long, Bobby Blair, Doris Whitt, Mary Gurosky and Ruth Graham. Moreland's funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be at First Baptist Church, Odenville. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds.

Powell, Woodrow, age 80, of Leeds, died January 17, 1999. He was a truck driver for Mason Dixon Silver Fleet for 30 years and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was also of the Baptist Faith. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 20, at 2 p.m. at Roebuck Chapel with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Survivors: son, Donald Ramey of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Edward Powell of Moody; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Stowe, Mrs. Lavina H., age 85, of Homewood, died Sunday, February 14, 1999. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Valley Chapel. Mrs. Stowe was preceded in death by two husbands, Harold F. Ingram and John R. Stowe, Sr.; and a brother, Lee Hutton. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Ingram Findley and husband, Davis of Fairhope; brothers, Frank Hutton, Florin Hutton and Kenneth Hutton, all of Indiana; sister, Betty Manuele of New York. A native of Valparaiso, Indiana, Mrs. Stowe was an active member of Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church and formerly a member of Ensley Highland Presbyterian Church. She was a Charter member of the Panorama Study Club and was an avid supporter of Auburn University. Mrs. Stowe retired from the Social Security Administration and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church or to Auburn University. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (879-3401) in Homewood.

Smith, Mr. Earnest Donald, age 66, of Birmingham, died January 17, 1999. He was retired from City of Birmingham with 25 years of service. He was a member of Coalburg Baptist Church; veteran of Korean War. Graveside service will be Wednesday, January 20, at 1 p.m. at Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, Tennessee. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors: daughters, Kathleen D. Smith of Byhalia, Miss., Sheryl L. Smith of Birmingham, Cynthia Ann Culver of Red Bay, Lisa C. McNeill of Birmingham, Susan G. Neville, Laurie D. Benson, both of Birmingham, and Brenda K. Higgins of Vernon; sister, Georgie McKibbon of Birmingham; brother, James B. Smith of Byhalia, Miss.; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Oakwood Memorial Gardendale Chapel directing.
