Knox, Sarah, age 67, of Lipscomb, died Sunday, June 6, 1999. She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Bessemer. She retired from U. A. B. Hospital and became a Foster Parent for numerous children for over 16 years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 1999 at 11:00 a.m., at the church with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens. Survivors: three daughters, Loretta Green (Ben ny), Vanessa Stallworth (Tony) and Shantae Knox; six sons, Benny (Cheryl), Donald (Johnnie), John (Jacqueline), Isaac (Shelia), Jeffery, and James Knox; two sisters, Mary Hall and Dora Chaney; numerous grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Roberts Central Park Chapel directing.

Thompson, Mr. John Henry, age 72, of Wylam, died June 5, 1999. Graveside service will be held Saturday, June 12, at 1:30 P.M. at Carver Memorial Garden. Roberts Central Park Chapel directing.

Smith, Noel Vaughn, age 18 of Auburn formerly of Win field, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999. Noel was born on February 18, l981 in Amory, MS, a son of James Odis Smith and Nancy Dianne Weeks Smith. He was a resident of Winfield most of his life, resident of Auburn the past four years, attended Winfield and Auburn High Schools. He was a registered freshman at Southern Union Community College at Opelika, and a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his father, James O. "Bud" Smith, Lewisville, TX; mother, Mrs. Nancy Weeks Smith and brother, Jamie Smith, both of Auburn; grandparents, Fred and Betty Weeks, Winfield; and Mrs. Dorothy Smith of Birmingham; two aunts, Mrs. Ann Gunnels, Hallsville, TX and Mrs. Jennifer Rostahar, Lawrence, KS; host of great aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives. Funeral services to be held Friday, June 25, 1999 at 1 p.m. from the Miles Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at the Zion cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Miles Funeral Home of Winfield directing.

Minton, Mr. Robert Allen "Ram" (October 3, 1931-June 9, 1999), age 67, of Shannon, passed away June 9, 1999. He was retired from the City of Birmingham. He was also a veteran and a member of both the VFW Post 3407 and the Eagles Lodge #972 in Pratt City. Visitation will be Friday, June 11, from 5:30 until 8:00 P.M. The bod y will lie in state at 9:00 A.M. Funeral service at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church will be Saturday, June 12, 1999 at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Horace Doss officiating. Burial in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. McAllister, Wilma C., age 87, of Birmingham, died June 10, 1999. Graveside service will be Saturday, June 12, 2 p.m., Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation: Saturday at Noon. Stricklin, Mr. W. D. "Jack", of Birmingham, retired 82, passed away June 10, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gipsy Stricklin. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the South Pacific - #106 Observation Squadron. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 13, 1999, 4:30 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Chapel service will be Mon day, June 14, 1999 at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Frank Sims officiating. Burial in Moncrief Cemetery (Gardendale, Alabama). Survivors: daughter, Brenda Phillips of Ft. McGruder, Mrs. Dora Lee, age 97, of Fairfield, died June 24, 1999. She was a member of Jones Chapel A.M.E. Church of Fairfield; retired school teacher having taught in Hale County and Lamar County. Member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ester Chapter Council No. 2; member of the Christian Industrial of Fairfield. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 1, at 1 p.m. at Jones Chapel A.M.E. Church with burial in George W. Carver Cemetery. Rev. P. J. Jones officiating. Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Anita McGrew of Fairfield, Mrs. Dorothy Edwards of San Diego, California and Miss Betty M. Baird, Mr. Vernon Michael, age 58, of Birmingham, died Friday, June 11, 1999. Mr. Baird was formerly of Jasper, AL. Survivors include: daughters: Amy Kastelick of Huntsville, and Jennifer Swam of Birmingham; grandchildren, Autumn Langner and Christian Langner; and brother, Dr. Stephen B. Baird of Jasper. Ellis, Webb Carl Jr., age 77 of Hueytown, Alabama died Saturday, June 12, 1999. Visitation: Monday, June 14, 1999 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Garywood Assembly of God. Service: Tuesday, June 15, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Garywood Assembly of God, he will lie in state from 10 to 11. Burial Forest Grove Cemetery. Officiating Minister: Rev. John Loper. Mr. Ellis was a member of Garywood Assembly of God, where he was Building Supervisor and Official Board Member, WWII Naval veteran serving in the Pacific and retired from U.S. Steel. Ellis and wife, Angela; Stacey Ellis and wife, Violet; grandchildren: Christa, Justin, Nathan, Andrew, and Jeremy; sister: Mrs. Sibyl Haynes; and brother: Mr. Sidney Ellis.
