ASIE Jackson BULLARD JR.

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Mr. Asie Jackson Bullard Jr., 66, will be Friday, May 2, at 3 p.m. at Usrey Chapel, Talladega, with the Rev. Wayne Hester officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Bullard passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in Anniston. He was a native of Calhoun County and had lived most of his life in Talladega. He was a retired self-employed painter. He is survived by sons, Tommy Bullard, Terry Bullard (Leona), Chris Bullard (Daphne) and Scotty Bullard (Sherry) all of Talladega; sisters, Mary England (Macy) of Ragland and Louise Jones (James) of Clay County; 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, from 6-9 p.m. at Usrey.

Pallbearers are Johnny Sexton, Jimmy Sexton, Mike Travis, James Magouryk, Ken Johnson and Ricky Lathem. Honorary pallbearers are Justin Bullard, Michael Travis and Dillon Travis. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

JAMES H. "JIMMY" DEW JR.

LINCOLN — Mr. James H. "Jimmy" Dew Jr. passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. A life long resident of the region he lived his last years in the Lincoln Embry Cross Roads area. He retired from Southern Tool last fall after working there for more than 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Ruth. He is survived by a sister Carole Perry of Columbia, MD; son, Mike Dew of Anniston; son, Donald and his wife Sherri Dew; and grandchildren, Kenneth and Kari Gardner of Anniston; as well numerous cousins. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday May 3, 2008 at Gray-Brown Funeral Home in Anniston.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Y.M.C.A. of Anniston, 29 West 14th Street, Anniston, Ala. 36201. Gray-Brown Service Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

EARLINE NOLEN

TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Ms. Earline Nolen, 83, will be Friday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. A.G. McKinney, the Rev. B.J. Duncan, the Rev. C. Henderson, the Rev. B.E. McKinney and the Rev. J.F. McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Talladega. Ms. Nolen will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service. Ms. Nolen died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at her residence. She was educated in the Talladega City School System, employed at Lee Laundry and a member of Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Nolen; parents, Willie and Alberta Nolen; brothers, Ernest and Euguen Nolen; sisters, Annie Tanner, Willie Rice, Jeraline Nolen and Jessie Tanner. She is survived by sons, Willie A. Nolen of Talladega and Eddie W. (Tanya) Nolen of Alexandria; daughters, Lois N. Curry of Talladega, Kathy Wilder of Panama City, FL, Mary Jim Montgomery of Seattle, WA, Leigh Hardy of Opelika; brothers, Cephus (Ann) Nolen of Hartford, CT, Benjamin (Catherine) Nolen of Bloomfield, CT, Willie L. (Lillian) Nolen Jr. of Ocala, FL, and Frank P. Nolen of Talladega; 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, from 6-7 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.

PAUL S. WARLICK

ALPINE — Funeral service for Mr. Paul S. Warlick, 79, will be Saturday, May 3, at 3 p.m. at Usrey Chapel, Talladega, with the Rev. William Maynor officiating. Burial will be in Alpine Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Warlick passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center, Sylacauga. He was a native of Walker County and was a resident of Alpine for the past 57 years. He was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church, retired from Beaunit Fibers and a retired cattle farmer. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Frances Warlick of Alpine; daughter, Kim Warlick of Alpine; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Todd Patterson of Talladega; granddaughter, Heather Patterson of Talladega; grandson, Matthew Patterson of Talladega; aunt, Thelma Warlick of Talladega; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, from 2-3 p.m. at Usrey.

Pallbearers are Edward Warlick, Judson Warlick, Ray Lilly, Chet Lilly, Walter Thompson, Robert Lee Thompson and Todd Lilly. Honorary pallbearers are the Elders of Salem Presbyterian Church, Roland Mellon, Larry Vincent, Cliff Hallmark, Dale Hill, Mac Pruitt, Benson Skelton, Daril Howell, Ray Chandler Jr., Cassandra Swain and Rita Manning. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

MYRTICE GALLMAN WEATHERS

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Myrtice Gallman Weathers, age 82, will be Friday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Freddie Edwards, the Rev. Jackie Davison and the Rev. Bill Lutz officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Weathers passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Weathers. She was a longtime resident of Sylacauga, a member of Overbrook Assembly of God and retired from Avondale Mills. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Davis and husband Sammy of Sylacauga; two sons, Larry Weathers and wife Sandra of Sylacauga and Bruce Weathers and wife Laurie of Dadeville; two brothers, Kirk Gallman of Talladega and Otis Gallman of Sylacauga; three sisters, Eunice Bassett, Sammie Franklin and Bessie Bivin all of Sylacauga; and 12 grandchildren. Visitation is Thursday, May 1, from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers are Mark Davis, Luke Davis, Garrett Weathers, Ryan Weathers, Ryan Sexton and Mike Barnette. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

MARLIN WELLS

MUNFORD — Funeral service for Mr. Marlin Wells, 74, will be Friday, May 2, at 1 p.m. at Usrey Chapel, Talladega, with the Rev. Michael Brasher and the Rev. Greg Walker officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Wells passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at his residence. He was a native of Covington County and a resident of Munford for the past 52 years. He was a member of Munford United Methodist Church, former employee of Newbury Foundry, former owner operator of Wells Brothers Plumbing and a Veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tyler and Edna Wells; brothers, Larry Wells and Robert Wells. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Jo Wells of Munford; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Phillip Caldwell of Alexandria; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Debbie Wells of Munford; sister, Betty Joyce Curlee of Deatsville; brother, Billy Joe Wells of Tuscaloosa; four grandchildren, Jeff Daniel, Brandi Prichard, Brett Wells and Erin Wells; five great grandchildren, Hannah Daniel, Lauren Reaves, Olivia Daniel, Abby Prichard and Fisher Prichard. Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, from 5-8 p.m. at Usrey.

PELL CITY — Joseph Edmond Butler Jr., 71, passed away April 30, 2008 in Pell City. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will announce arrangements.

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Lillie L. Crumpler, 85, will be at on Saturday, May 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sylacauga. the Rev. Fred Jemison officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Crumpler passed on April 24, 2008 at her residence in Milwaukee. She is survived by three sisters, Vera Wilson of Sylacauga, Delois Taylor of Dayton, OH, and Gwendloyn Hale of Milwaukee, WI; brother-in-law, Billy Hale; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be at on Friday from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at the Community Funeral Home Chapel. Flower bearers will be friends of the family.

Pallbearers will be family and friends of the family. Community Funeral Home will direct the services.

HELEN C. JOHNSON

Washington — Graveside service for Helen C. Johnson, 78, will be Saturday, May 3, at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson passed away Friday, April 25, 2008 in Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer D. and Jennie Coffey; sisters, Annie Mae Mitchell, Dorothy Jones; brothers, Hubert, Roy, Homer D. Coffey Jr. and Granvil Bond; and by her grandson, Craig Addison Lusk. Helen was born at home in Wheeler, Ala., the youngest of eight children. She attended Town Creek High School, where she graduated and was voted Miss Hazelwood 1948. With her beautiful, long, curly, brown hair and striking good looks, she attracted the attention of a handsome taxi driver, Bill Johnson, while she was working at the local drug store in Sylacauga. They fell in love and were married Oct. 27, 1949. As much as we all loved her, God loved her more and needed her to come home to rest and rejoice. What a reunion they must be having now! All our love and prayers go with you Mother. She is survived by a son, Barry Johnson of Tracyton, WA; three daughters, Jane Handley of Olympia, WA, Pamela Johnson of Round Lake, IL, Jennifer Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Jerrie Horton of Sylacauga; four grandchildren, Cory Johnson, Tony Johnson, Mica Lusk, Heath Howerton; six great grandchildren, Jordan, Anthony, Bailee, Michael and Emilee Johnson, Landon Craig Howerton. Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

MAGGIE MAE SARGENT ROBINSON

ASHLAND — Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Mae "Granny" Sargent Robinson, age 86, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Millerville Baptist Church with the Revs. Kevin Payne and John Luckie officiating. Burial will follow in Millerville Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday and until service time on Saturday. Benefield/Ashland in charge of the arrangements.

VERA H. SMITH

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Vera H. Smith, 77, will be at on Saturday, May 3, at 2:30 p.m. at the Pine Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sylacauga. Pastor Joseph A. Privette officiating. Burial will be in the Harper Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Smith passed on April 27, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga. She is survived by three sons, John Smith of Dayton, OH, Tony Smith and Eddie Smith both of Sylacauga; three daughters, Judy Pope, Mary J. Taylor and Neva Moon all of Sylacauga; special aunt, Eva Mae Patterson; 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be on Friday from 12 noon to 8 p.m. at the Community Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. for family hour. Flower bearers will be friends of the family.

RUBY JEWELL COURSEY

TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Ruby Jewell Coursey, 88, will be Sunday May 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the East Providence Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Young and The Rev. Reggie Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at the Church cemetery. Mrs. Coursey passed away May 1, 2008 in Sylacauga. She is survived by son, Reuben (R.A.) Milam and his wife Elizabeth of Talladega; four grand-children, James Wilson Milam, Valerie Cook, Lynn Shirey, Stacy Shirey, seven Great grandchildren, David Lee Dockery, Denise Shirey, Heather Shirey, Savannah Shirey, Katelyn Shirey, Erica Cook, and Wesley Shirey. Active pallbearers are Eric Cook, James Wilson Milam, David Lee Dockery, Mark Shirey, Howard Lee Solley, Wayne Gallegly. Mrs. Coursey was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Providence Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 to 8 pm. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

THE REVEREND LEON GUNBY DEAN

SOUTH CAROLINA — the Reverend Leon Gunby Dean was born June 21, 1923 in Greer, South Carolina. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in 308th Airdrome Squadron. He graduated from Central Wesleyan College with a ministerial degree and served over 30 years as a minister in The Wesleyan Church across the Southeast. He passed away on Monday, April 28, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline B. Dean. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Thomson, and his two grandchildren, Alex and Diana Thomson. Graveside Services were held Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Pell City, Ala. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega directed the service.

HERBERT GREEN

CROPWELL — Funeral services for Herbert Green, 89, will be 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Cropwell, Ala., with The Rev. Maurice Keller, The Rev. Willie Frazier, The Rev. Woodrow Johnson, and The Rev. Willie Posey officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery, Cropwell, Ala. Mr. Green will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service. Mr. Green died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Green was born March 2, 1919 in Cropwell, Ala. His parents were Linna (Beavers) Green and John Green. He was educated in St. Clair County School System. He was employed over 30 years at Anniston Army Depot. He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Green was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosea Beavers; parents, John and Linna Green; four sisters. Survivors are his wife, Tinnie L. Green and son, Arthur Green both of Cropwell, Ala.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, 6:30 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.

ANN FRANCES KING

ASHVILLE — Funeral services for Ann Frances King, 76 will be Monday, May 5, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City with the Pastor Ken Jones officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens. She went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2008. She was an avid Bingo player and loved her family. She was preceded in death by her sons Jack and William King and her daughter-in-law Bonnie King. She is survived by her husband, Robert Nabors of Pinedale Shores; sons, David King of Pell City, James King of Ashville, Michael (Lula) King of Odenville; step-son Alan Nabors of Ashville;daughter, Alice Bailey of Pindale Shores; brothers, Walter Tegan of Ashville; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday May 4, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct.

MIKE C. SANDERS

LINCOLN — Mike C. Sanders, age 66, of Lincoln passed away May 1, 2008 at Veterans Hospital in Birmingham. As he requested, his body will be donated to UAB for medical education. No services are planned at this time. He was member of Dry Valley Baptist Church. Mike graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the United States Army. He retired from AT&T. He is survived by a daughter, Amy Sanders and a granddaughter, Taylor Nicole of Farmington, N.M. Stepson Terry Price, Grand Junction, Colorado and Stepdaughter Brenda Morgan, Farmington, N.M. One brother, George Sanders (Judy) Lincoln, Ala. and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and personnel in MICU and Safe Harbor for their care, kindness and considerations during Mike's stay there.

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Mrs. Dorothy S. Watts, oldest of 5 children, 85, of 2018 Airport Road, Owensboro, Ky. 42301 went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 29, 2008. She was a native of Cordova, Alabama, moved to Owensboro Ky. in 1963. She also lived in Singapore for 10 years. She was employed at cotton mills & General Electric in the early years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Church of Owensboro, Ky. She was involved in her church, a mighty prayer warrior, enjoyed making & selling flower arrangements, sequined sweat shirts, and crochet hand towels. She traveled to 37 Countries. She is survived by husband of 60 years, Fred, cared for her lovingly & faithfully over the past 3 years in the nursing home. Her sweet spirit will be missed, but as she sang so often, help us to take "One Day at a Time, Sweet Jesus". Son, James F. Johnson of Tallahassee, Fl, Son & Daughter-in-Law, Glenn P. & Sharon Watts of Hendersonville, Tn, Son, Gary T. Watts of Owensboro, Ky, Daughter, Ramona J. Saare of Jasper, Indiana, Daughter, Karen K. Jacobsma of Templeton, Ca, 11 Grandchildren & 9 Great-Grandchildren, Sister, Doris Hallmark of Sylacauga, Al, Sister-in-Law, Helen Stewart of Birmingham, Ala. She was preceded in death by parents: Henry James & Erline Crowell Stewart, Infant Daughter: Janett Watts, Sister: Alice Machen & 2 Brothers: William Stewart & Thomas Stewart. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday, May 5, 2008 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Usrey. Funeral service will be at Usrey Brown- Service Funeral Home, May 5, 2008, 4:00 p.m. with Robert Watts officiating. Usrey Brown-Service Funeral Home, Talladega, will direct the service.

SYCAMORE — Ada Lee White, 82, died on May 1, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Community Funeral Home.
