TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Barbara Elaine Cunningham, 49, will be Saturday, July 12, at 11 a.m. at Rushing Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Clarence Woodward officiating. Burial will be in Embry Cemetery, Talladega. Ms. Cunningham will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service. Ms. Cunningham died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at University of Alabama Hospital. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Faulkner University, a senior customer service representative at Alabama Power Company, and a member of Rushing Springs Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and the Women of Faith. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher; her parents, Donnell (Elizabeth) Cunningham; four sisters, Bertha, Carolyn, Shelia and Elsie. Survivors are a daughter, Bethany D. Cunningham of Talladega; brothers, Nathaniel Cunningham of Germany and Herman (Jackie) Cunningham of Danville, IL; sisters, Mazie Dixon of Los Angeles, Calif., Geraldine (Eddie) Garrett of Alpine, Janice Swain of Montgomery, Betty (Wesley) Simmons and Judith Cunningham all of Talladega. Visitation will be Friday, July 11, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary Chapel. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.

LONGVIEW, Texas — Memorial services for Michael Eugene Foster, 43, of Longview will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road, with the Rev. Darius Johnston officiating. He passed away Wednesday July 9, 2008 in Longview, Texas Michael was born June 21, 1965 in Sylacauga. He was a salesman for Smith Services. He was also a Veteran of Desert Storm serving in the U.S. Marines. He is survived by his children, Drew, Zachary and Brittany Foster of San Pedro, Calif.; mother, Linda Collins and husband Kenneth of Conroe, Texas; father, Noah Foster of Bon Air; sisters, Melinda Carr and husband Ernest of Spring, Texas; Cindy Danley and husband Robert of Sylacauga; brothers, Gary Blake and wife Malisa of Ft. Worth, Texas; Don Allegro of Bon Air; his girlfriend, Misty Pospisil; and numerous nieces and nephews. SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Annie Mae "Sis" Westbrook Hearns, 86, will be at on Saturday, July 12, at 1 p.m. at the St. Paul AME Church in Sylacauga. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. the Rev. Wendell Davenport will be officiating. Mrs. Hearns passed on July 5, 2008 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Jackson of Sylacauga and Dalerie Hearns Spence of Stanford, CT; three sons, Dr. Michael Hearns of Westchester, NY, Anthony Hearns of Philadelphia, PA, and Eddie Hearns of New York; goddaughter, Carolyn M. Fasion of Stone Mountain, Ga.; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. CHILDERSBURG — Funeral services for Lewis Sheppard, 76, will be Friday, July 11, at 1 p.m. from the Tallassahatchie Baptist Church in Childersburg with Pastor Fred Jemison officiating. Mr. Sheppard died Monday, July 7, 2008 at Balm of Gilead Palliative Care in Birmingham.

Survivors include four daughters, Yvonne (Samuel) Glenn of Sycamore, Connie Sheppard Harris of Birmingham, Teresa Swain of Childersburg, Sharon (Ryan) Dates of Vincent; one son, Melvin Sheppard of Childersburg; four sisters, Shirley (Ernie) Stokes of Los Angeles, Calif., Christine (Otha) Calhoun of Landham, MD, Annie L. (Aaron) Thompson of Washington, D.C., Janice Sheppard of Childersburg; two brothers, Ben (Rebecca) Sheppard and Gary Sheppard all of Childersburg; 10 grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Carolyn Ann Stafford, 58, will be Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Thornton officiating. Interment will be in Brownville Cemetery, Clay County. Mrs. Stafford died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at St. Vincent's Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her father, Austin A. Bagley. Mrs. Stafford was manager of Miranda Apartments in Sylacauga where she was awarded Southeast Regional Manager of the Year for 2007. She loved to garden and cook, loved her children, grandchildren and helping others. She was born in Sylacauga and lived her early life in Goodwater. She is survived by daughters, Michelle Mayne and husband Bill of Fayetteville, Ga., and Heather Bailey and husband Jon of Sylacauga; mother, Sara E. Bagley of Goodwater; brothers, George E. Bagley and wife Sherry of Goodwater, Charles W. Bagley and wife Sharon of Fayetteville, John P. Bagley and wife Cheri of Goodwater and James A. Bagley of Birmingham; sister, Sue E. Peoples and husband Terry of Goodwater; grandchildren, Zak Mayne, Michael Mayne, Lane Bailey, Lance Bailey and soon-to-be-granddaughter, Laela Isabella Ann Bailey. Mrs. Allen died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Citizens BMC, Talladega. She was a native and lifelong resident of Alpine, member of Cartersville Baptist Church, retired from AIDB and a member of Laniers Home Demonstration Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph C. Allen; daughter, Marie Shaw; sister, Dorothy Searcy; brother, William Vaughn; parents, Andrew and Angie Vaughn; and step-mother, Julia Vaughn. Survivors are a son, Ralph "Jake" Allen of Talladega; sisters, Gusta Carey of Birmingham and Evelyn Hubbard of Douglasville, Ga.; granddaughter, Cindy Pennington of Talladega; grandson, Bryan Allen of Talladega; great-grandsons, Nicholas Pennington and Lucas Pennington both of Talladega.

BROOKS, Ga. — Mary West Davis, age 79, formerly of Pell City, passed away Monday, July 14, 2008. Graveside services were held Tuesday at Valley Hill Cemetery in Pell City with the Rev. Vint Arnold officiating. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by husband, Dwight "Byrd" Davis; parents, Dee and Rosa Lee West; sister, Jack Owen; and brother, Bob West. She is survived by daughter, Donna (David) Richardson of Brooks, Ga.; son, Barry (Debra) Davis of Douglasville, Ga.; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jean Owen of Pell City; and brothers-in-law, Coy Davis of Gadsden and Hubert Owen of Pell City.

Mrs. Hatcher died Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Milton Hatcher. She is survived by her children, Peggy and Steve Turner of Pell City, Donna Edmiston of Talladega, Carl Alexander of Birmingham and Rickey Hatcher of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Brian, Jessica, April and Brandon; three great grandchildren, Ethan, Riley, and Parker; nieces and nephew, Barbara Ann and Phillip Hale and Lori.

MUNFORD — Funeral services for Mr. Charles Cupp, Jr., 77, of Munford, will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with the Rev. John Waites officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Cupp passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Sanders and husband Cliff of Munford; four sons, Robert Cupp and wife Sara of Columbus, Ga., Shane Reaves and wife Cibil of Calhoun, Ga., Charlie Cupp and wife Jennifer of Lenlock, and John Andrew Cupp of Munford; one sister, Lovace Whirley of Virginia; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Cupp is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie C. and Carren C. Cupp; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Cupp; two sisters, Grace Winn and Catherine Baggett; and one brother, Lawrence Cupp.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Cupp Jr., Kenneth Carter, Roy Crow, John Cupp, Neil Nelson, and Phillip Haynes. Mr. Cupp was a native of Calhoun County and a resident of Munford and of the Baptist faith. He retired after many years of well digging for home well systems. CHICAGO, IL — Ethel Beatrice Glenn of Chicago, Illinois, formerly of Goodwater, died July 15, 2008. She was born April 7, 1938, in Coosa County. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Percy and Wilma Hill Glenn; and a brother. Graveside services will be at Wednesday, July 23, at 1 p.m. at the Macedonia Cemetery, Goodwater. Words of comfort will be offered by the Rev. John R. Leonard.

Survivors include two daughters, Yolanda Glenn and Beverly (Charlie) Williams of Chicago, Ill.; one granddaughter, Charde Wiggins of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Stinson (Beverly) Glenn of Mobile and Thomas Glenn of Philadelphia, PA; three sisters, Pauline Glenn and Wilma J. Thomas of Goodwater and Helen G. Madden of Sylacauga; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Childersburg Mortuary will direct the services.

BETTY JOYCE CAIN MILLS

BIRMINGHAM — Betty Joyce Cain Mills, 78, died July 18, 2008. Mrs. Mills, a native of Madison, Ala. had lived in Birmingham since 1951. A daughter of the late John Slaughter Cain and Lucille Wade Cain, she was the widow of Rabun Sanders Mills.

Survivors include her son John Rabun Mills and his wife Judy Boyd Mills of Mt. Dora, Fla., her daughter Pamela Susan Mills, her granddaughters Molly Summers Terrell and Laura Catherine Mills, and her sister Shirley Cain Wilson. Mrs. Mills, a member of the Canterbury United Methodist Church, attended the University of Alabama. She was a member of First Families of Alabama, First Families of Tennessee Valley, Daughters of the American The Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. Much pleasure was brought to her by her friendships in the Alpha Chi Omega Lunch Group, Stoney Ridge Garden Club and several bridge groups. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 22 between 9 and 10:30 a.m. at Valley Chapel in Homewood (205-879-3401). There will be a private burial at Elmwood Cemetery. PELL CITY — Funeral service for Mr. James Wesley Savage, 46, will be Tuesday, July 22, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Zane Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens. Mr. Savage died Saturday, July 19, 2008 in Pell City. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where he served as soundboard tech, youth director, choir member and assistant Bible drill teacher. He was a member of the Pell City Players. He was a loving father and son. Survivors are daughters, Caitlin Savage and Shelby Savage both of Pell City; mother, Jackie Savage of Pell City; sister, Dianne Spoon of Pell City; several uncles, aunts and cousins.

BETTY CURTIS STACEY

MOBILE — Betty Curtis Stacey was born Sept. 2, 1938 to Rudolph Curtis and Nancy Johns. She was born in Sylacauga and a longtime resident of Mobile. She departed this life on Friday, July 18, 2008 at a local hospital. She provided loving care to her residents at her assisted living home, Stacey's Manor, for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Charles W. Stacey; by her father, Rudolph Curtis; and her aunt, Annie Vickers. She is survived by her mother, Nancy Johns Brooks of Metter, Ga.; and one son, Charles W. Stacey Jr. of Mobile; and one daughter, Dana (Michael) Fadalla; two sisters, Etoye (Earl) Rigdon of Metter, Ga., and Debra Brooks Patronas of Mobile; and five precious grandchildren she adored, Wesley Stacey, Leah Stacey, Olivia Fadalla, Emily Fadalla and Lauren Fadalla; nephews, Jason Rigdon and Phillip Patronas Jr.; her nieces, Carla Pattillo, Amanda Nobles, Stormy Patronas and Avian Lee; and a host of several relatives and friends including her loving lifelong friend, Mrs. Katherine Key. The services will be at Serenity Funeral Home on Tuesday at 12 noon, visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens.
