Gaither Quinn Jr. of Birmingham died April 3, 2000. Retired from Hardie Tynes Manufacturing, he was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain Park.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Quinn; children, Gary Quinn, Terry Quinn, Cerdick Quinn, Michael Quinn, James Jones, Gail Quinn and Bonita Swanson; sisters, Willie Mae Billup, Mary Blackman, Mattie Wilson, Ruth Cook, Elizabeth Hale and Earline Thomas.

Services were held April 8 at the First Baptist Church of Mountain Park, Rev. William Smith officiating. Burial was in Zion Memorial Gardens, Westside Funeral Home directing.

BETTY JEAN JEFFERSON ROY

Member of Shiloh Baptist Church

Betty Jean Jefferson Roy, 66, of Helena, died April 3, 2000. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd Roy; sons, Terry Jackson Roy and James Thomas Roy; a daughter, Mary Beth Roy; and five grandchildren.

Services were held april 5 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Burial was in Helena City Cemetery, Ridout's Southern Heritage directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church's Building Fund, 5979 County Road 151, Calera, AL 35040.

J. D. TUCKER

Member of Calera Assembly of God

J. D. Tucker, 72, of Calera, died March 27, 2000. Retired from Cheney Lime Co. with 36 years of service, he was a member of Calera Assembly of God.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Gothard Tucker of Calera; a daughter, Judy Tucker Kelly of Helena; a son, Richard Lee Tucker; a sister, Genette Mayhand of Bessemer; a brother, Charles Tucker of Jemison; and four grandchildren.

Services were held March 29 at Calera Assembly of God, Rev. B.B. Alexander officiating.

Burial was in Shelby Memory Gardens, Rockco Funeral Home directing the services.

A. LUCILLE "MAMAW" CHRISTIAN

Chelsea resident

A. Lucille "Mamaw" Christian, 74, of Chelsea, died April 10, 2000.

She is survived by five children, Ann Christian of Wilsonville, Brenda Perrin and David of Sterrett, Kathy Christian Brown and Bobby, Terry Christian and Marty, Jeremy Christian and Jessica, all of Chelsea; sisters-in-law, May Kelley, Fay Brown and Lavore Nesbitt; brothers-in-law, Walter Christian and Noble Christian; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Christian, Connie Wheeler, Tonya Allen, Jannett Curl, David Perrin Jr., Jessica Mathis, Terry Christian II and Tara Christian; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held April 13 at New Life Assembly of God, Rev. David Wooten officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Bolton-Brown Service directing.

CARL DAWSON CONWELL

Army veteran

Carl Dawson Conwell, 50, of Cleveland, Ohio, died April 9, 2000. A native of Bibb County, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his sisters, Stephanie Conwell, Yolanda Lacey, Shirlye Conwell, Janet Conwell, Phyllis Dukes and Timolyn Conwell.

Services were held April 15 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Rev. Rogers White officiating. Burial was in Montevallo City Cemetery, Westside Funeral Home directing.

JASPER HAROLD "JIGGS" GIDDENS

Veteran of U.S. Marines

Jasper Harold (Jiggs) Giddens, 65, of Sylacauga, died April 8, 2000, at Montclair BMC in Birmingham.

He was a native of Sylacauga and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Giddens is survived by his wife, Geneva Haywood Giddens of Sylacauga; two sons, Wessley Giddens of Caldwell, Idaho, and Buddy Gibson of Sylacauga; four daughters, Janie Jenkins of Lewiston, Idaho, Tamara Bivens of Caldwell, Idaho, Debra Lee of Oneonta, and Brenda Davis of Harpersville; his mother, Janie Perry Giddens of Sycamore; four sisters, Vivan Pearson of Pine River, Minn., Betty Kelly, Gail Collum and Judy Skates, all of Sylacauga; 16 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 11 at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Ralph Green and James Cullins officiating.

Burial was in Arkwright Baptist Church Cemetery, Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel directing.

GOLDIE THRASHER GREGG

Montevallo resident

Goldie Thrasher Gregg, 90, of Montevallo, died April 12, 2000.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Josie Thrasher of Brierfield; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services were held April 14 at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Tom Hammett presiding. Burial was in Montevallo Cemetery, Rockco Funeral Home directing.

CHARLIE HOLIFIELD

Marion resident

Charlie Holifield, 96, of Marion, died April 16, 2000.

He is survived by three daughters, Helen Nelson of Alabaster, Doris Creel of Heiburger and Rutie Duke of Bessemer; two sons, Charles L. (Sam) Holifield of Birmingham and William B. Holifield of Heiburger; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, F.W. Holifield of Greensboro; and sister-in-law Leona Holifield of Livingston.

Services were held April 19 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church and the adjoining cemetery in Heiburger, Rev. Cletice Ingram officiating. Services were directed by Shelby Memory Funeral Home.

RONALD JONES

Shelby resident

Ronald Jones, 46, of Shelby, died April 4, 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Jones; two sons, Ronald E. Jones II of Jemison and Ronald A. Jones of Shelby; a daughter, Misty Dean Smith of Shelby; a sister, Wanda McKinnon of Wilsonville and Ray Jones of Vincent; and two grandchildren.

Services were held April 14 at Bolton-Brown Chapel, Rev. Jimmy Earnest officiating. Burial was in Bay Springs Cemetery, Bolton-Brown Service directing.

NELLOWEEN LOCKETT

Brent resident

Nelloween Lockett, 71, of Brent, died April 9, 2000 at Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa.

She is survived by three children, Brenda Lockett Kornegay, Leotha Lockett Jr. and James Lockett; and a host of other relatives.

Services were held April 15 at Purity Holiness Church in Centreville, Rev. James Graves officiating. Burial was in Duff Cemetery, Good Shepherd Funeral Home directing.
