Funeral services for Milton Edgar Johnson, 61, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Clyde Ledlow officiating, with Burial in Friendship Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson died Sunday, Feb. 29, at his residence. He was born Oct. 13, 1942, in Morgan County to Lawrence E. and Rosie L. Russell Johnson. He was a machine operator with Dixie Precision Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Kenneth Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Dover Johnson of Cullman; three sons, Calvin (Shelly) Johnson, Donnie (Martha) Johnson and Jason (Kelly) Johnson; three stepdaughters, Vanessa (Ricky) Nichols, Bonetta (Jeff) Baughman and Gail (Edward) Sturgeon; two stepsons, Harvey (Melia) Creel and Jonathan (Kim) Creel; four brothers, James W. (Maryellen) Miller, Thomas (Brenda Sue) Johnson, Bobby (Roxie) Johnson and Lawrence Dean (Joyce) Johnson; five sisters, Rose Duncan, Clara (Andrew) Holt, Brenda (Daryl) Amerson, Linda (Mike) Perry and Marsha Johnson; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Joyce Ann Knight-Woodard

Funeral services for Joyce Ann Knight-Woodard, 55, of Warrior will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Meek Baptist Church in Arley, with Burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Woodard died Sunday, Feb. 29, in Birmingham.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Woodard; two daughters, Tracy Carl Collier and Miriam Kay Woodard; a sister, Jeanne Bower; a brother, Jeffery Lynn Knight; and a grandson, Steton Kyle Calvert.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

George C. 'Billy' Williams

Graveside services for George C. "Billy" Williams, 76, of Texas, formerly of Cullman, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at Valley Springs Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Williams died Saturday, Feb. 14, in Houston, Texas.

Survivors include his children, Onita Parish of Goodwater, Sandra Featley of Great Britain, Judy Williams of Georgia, Joe Williams of Boaz, Susan Jacks of Ashland, Roger Williams of Lineville and Kimberly Milwater of Florida; a sister, Dorothy Barabaris of Georgia; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Charlie 'C.S.' Speegle

Funeral services for Charlie "C.S." Speegle, 60, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004, at Moss-Service Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Billy Joe Gable officiating, with Burial in Bowman's Chapel Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Speegle died Wednesday, March 3 at his residence. He was born July 6, 1943, to Richard F. and Emma Robertson Speegle. He was a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Speegle; brother, Lincoln Speegle; and sister, Ellen Spradlin.

Survivors include three sons, Michael (Sherry) Speegle, Marty (Sherry Rutherford) Speegle, both of Cullman, Kevin (Monica) Speegle of Valley Grove; daughter, Kelley (Keith) Haymon of Logan; two brothers, Elwin Speegle, Dan Speegle; four sisters, Gayree Griffith, Katherine Foote, Louree Cason, Geraldine Bates; and five grandchildren, Christopher Speegle, Hagen Speegle, Austin Speegle, Emma Speegle and Olivia Speegle.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Thomas Eugene Thompson

Funeral services for Thomas Eugene Thompson, 60, of Bremen will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004, at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Junior Garmon officiating, with Burial in the Arkadelphia Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thompson died Wednesday, March 3 in Birmingham. He was born in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. on Dec. 19, 1943, to Dennis Gerald and Della Ruth Armstrong Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Billy Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Thompson of Bremen; two daughters, Susie (Jeff) Curtis and Julie (Billy) Mauldin, both of Bremen; two sisters, Geneva Bates of Cullman and Jerrye Delbueno of Morgan City, La.; a brother, J.W. Thompson of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Thompson of Birmingham; and four grandchildren, Zachary, Kayla and Tyler Mauldin and Josh Curtis.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James William Sorrell

Graveside services for James William Sorrell, 69, of Crane Hill will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004, at Allen Cemetery in Indian Springs, the Rev. Donny Acton officiating.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sorrell died Tuesday, March 2 in Crane Hill. He was born in Shelby County on July 4, 1934, to William Edward I and Eva Lee Gable.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, James Randall and William Edward II; and a brother, Robert Franklin Sorrell.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Faye Self Sorrell of Crane Hill; two daughters, Pamela Hurst of Hanceville and Patricia Peterson of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Angel Sorrell Phillips, Randy Spain, Lacey Peterson, Heather Hurst, Ethan Peterson, Jacob Williams, Michael Shane Hurst and Leslie Hurst; and two great-grandchildren, Courtney Maples and Jadah Hurst.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

(MaryEllen) Miller, Thomas (Brenda Sue) Johnson, Bobby (Roxie) Johnson and Lawrence Dean (Joyce) Johnson; five sisters, Rose Duncan, Clara (Andrew) Holt, Brenda (Daryl Wade) Amerson, Linda (Mike) Perry and Marsha Johnson; a sister-in-law, Sue Johnson; 19 stepgrandchildren; two grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Frances Boyd Griffith

Graveside services for Frances Boyd Griffith, 84, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Cullman City Cemetery, Bob Alford officiating.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Griffith died Tuesday, March 2 at her residence. She was born Dec. 28, 1919, in Chambers County. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Lewis and Willie Baird Boyd; her husband, Judge K.J. Griffith; and two brothers, Robert Boyd and Edwin Boyd.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen K. (Jackie) Griffith of Cullman and R. Quill Griffith of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Janice (Clark) De Jonge of Vienna, Va.; three grandchildren, Laney Frances De Jonge, Stephen Wyles (Tammy) Griffith and Sarah-Frances (Donovon) Lovell; and three great-grandchildren, Owen Lovell, Kacie Griffith and Jackson Griffith.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Waymon F. Butts

Funeral services for Waymon F. Butts, 66, of the Mountain Grove community in Blountsville, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2004, at Mountain Grove Baptist Church, Michael Murphree and Jerry Hackney officiating, with Burial in South Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Butts died Tuesday, March 2, at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born in Blount County to Cleveland A. and Ethel Smith Butts. He was a retired truck driver for Alabama Feed and was a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thurman Butts and Jerry Butts; and a sister, Ora Hamm.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Butts of Blountsville; two sons, Jeffery (Cathy) Butts of Blountsville and Keith Butts of Cullman; two daughters, Cynthia (Mike) Dean of Georgia and Renona (Ronald) Hightower of Hanceville; three brothers, James (Mary) Butts of Oneonta, Clint (Virginia) Butts of Blountsville and Wilford (Nell) Butts of Cullman; a sister, Nancy (Larry) Bishop of Blountsville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Butts, Tim Butts, Milo Hamm, Hugo Carter, Matthew McAnear and Gregory Bishop.

Honorary pallbearer is Kevin Bishop.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Doyle Duell 'Dick' Stricklin

Funeral services for Doyle Duell "Dick" Stricklin, 80, of Cullman will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004, at First Church of the Nazarene, Stuart Rowan officiating, with Burial in Memory Gardens. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stricklin died Wednesday, March 3 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born May 11, 1923, in Alabama to John B. and Myrtle Davis Stricklin. He was a Star Route mail carrier for 40 years. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Cullman and the Star Route Mail Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Vera Stricklin Mize.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Hite Stricklin; a daughter, Teri (Stuart) Rowan of Melbourne, Fla.; two grandchildren, Taylor Rowan and Morgan Rowan, both of Melbourne, Fla.; and two sisters, Roxie Stricklin and Juanita Stricklin Schuman, both of Cullman.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mae T. Watts

Funeral services for Mae T. Watts, 80, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Williams-McCracken Chapel, with Burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Watts died Wednesday, March 3 at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 18, 1923, in Cullman County to Samuel Henry and Clema Hart Thomas. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Randal (Rita) Watts of St. Charles, Mo. and Joel (Angie) Watts of McDonough, Ga.; a daughter, Phillis (Gary) Hunt of Hanceville; five grandchildren, Jason Hunt of Aberdeen, Scotland, David Watts of Atlanta, Chris Watts of Chiang Mai, Thailand, Jeff Watts of San Francisco and Stacey Kastner of St. Charles, Mo.; two brothers, Joseph Milton Thomas of Pell City and Eulus "Boots" Thomas of Cullman; and two sisters, Dorothy Sorrell of Fenton, Mich. and Ophelia Yeager of Quitman, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Bessie Lee McClendon

Funeral services for Bessie Lee McClendon, 76, of Bremen, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2004, at Cold Springs Baptist Church, the Revs. Harce Swann and Marvin Clemons officiating, with Burial in Cold Springs Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. McClendon died Thursday, March 4, at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Amory, Miss., to William Zackariah and Myrtle Lou Cora Odom Gosa. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Wilmer "Pete" McClendon of Bremen; one son, Bobby R. (Tanya) McClendon Sr. of Enola, Ark.; one sister, Marie Pittman of Walker County; one grandson, Bobby R. (Jamie) McClendon Jr. of Frisco, Texas; and one great-grandson, Griffin William McClendon of Frisco, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Leecie Stewart

Funeral services for Leecie Stewart, 80, of Bremen will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004, at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Dale Banks officiating, with Burial in Antioch Cemetery in Bremen.

Hanceville Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stewart died Thursday, March 4, in Cullman. He was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Bremen to Lonzo and Ella Payne Stewart.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Pace of Garden City; a son, Jerry (Sheila) Stewart of Hanceville; a brother, Lee Stewart of Bremen; special friends, Brenda Bentley and Charles Borges, both of Bremen; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday.

Lucy Dawe Hildreth Addy

Memorial services for Lucy Dawe Hildreth Addy, 81, of Leesville, S.C., were at 4 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2004, at Cedar Grove Lutheran Church, the Revs. Gary Bradenburg and Kathleen Panning officiating.

Barr-Price Funeral Home Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Addy died Friday, Feb. 27. She was born July 13, 1922, in Columbus, Miss., to Sam and Florence Dawe Hildreth. She was a graduate of Cullman High School and met her husband-to-be, Tom Addy, while he was stationed with the Civilian Conservation Corps camp on Childhaven Road. After serving overseas in the Pacific during World War II, Tom and Lucy were married in May 1946 in Cullman. She was a member of Cedar Grove Lutheran Church and was a housewife and poultry farmer.

She was preceded in death by one son, Randy Addy; and three brothers, Wyman Hildreth, Los Hildreth and Earl Hildreth.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas C. Addy; two daughters, Dotty (Ervin) Eargle and Cynda (David) Hallman, both of Leesville; one brother, Rodney Hildreth of Fort Payne; five sisters, Mary Sims and Sandra Hutchens, both of Cullman; Sybil (Homer) Umphrey of Huntsville; Nan (Jimmy) Cook of Batesburg, S.C.; and Betty (Philip) Metts of Leesville; two grandchildren, Addy Jo (Larry) Hoffmann and Jon Tomas Hallman; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Hoffmann and Tyler Hoffmann.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cedar Grove Lutheran Church, 1220 Cedar Crove Road, Leesville, S.C. 29070.

Visitation followed the service in the Miles T. Collum Social Hall.
