Faye Lee Carpenter

Mrs. Faye Lee Carpenter, age 86, a resident of Highlands, Texas died Monday, October 13, 29008 in Highlands.

She was born August 31, 1922 in Sasaqua, Oklahoma to Leonard and Fannie McKnight Lee. she loved to paint, spend special time with her family, travel, listen to country and gospel music and loved to cook for her family.

Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, H. D. Carpenter of Highlands; a son, don Carpenter and his wife Pat or Livingston; a daughter, Sandy Hebert and her husband Johnny of Highlands; a sister, Juanita Shelton of Guthrie, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Mike Carpenter and his wife Candun of Mena, Arkansas, Jessica Sawyer of Baytown, Candice Weinhold and her husband Gus; Carrier Barbour an d her husband Wes and Elizabeth Carpenter all of Austin, Kimberly Darbonne of Metropolis, Illinois, Shawn Hebert and his wife Lisa of Highlands and Jami Garrett and her husband Shane of Baytown; great-grandchildren: Amber Massey and her husband Issac, Alexa, Audrey and Averie Darbonne, Heather and Dawson Hebert, Chloe and Carson Garrett and great-great-grandchildren: Cloey, Sully, and Averly Massey.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2008 at the Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas.

Graveside services for Mrs. Carpenter will be held at 1000 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 in the Redmen Cemetery with Bro. Tim Johnson officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Vicki Arlene Halliday

Mrs. Vicki Arlene Halliday, age 52, a resident of Cerro Gordo died Monday, October 13, 2008 in the De Queen Medical Center.

She was born August 30, 1956 in McKinney, Texas to Don and Darlene Hankey Campbell. She was a homemaker and attended the Winthrop Baptist Church.

Mrs. Halliday was preceded in death by her father; and one grandchild, Braylee Jo Tallant.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Halliday; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Eric Maxey of Louisiana, Stephanie and Harless Carver of Foreman and Melinda and Chris Tallant of Cerro Gordo; one son, Dewayne Halliday of Duquoin, IL; her mother, Darlene Williamson of Texarkana, Arkansas; four sisters, Linda Duncan of Hooks, Texas, Becky Loden of Athens, Texas, Donna Kay Wright of Murfreesboro, and Rhonda Burt of Lockesburg; one brother, Billy Don Campbell of Ben Lomond; 6 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Halliday will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2008 in the Winthrop Baptist Church with Rev. Audie Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Helen Marie Ross Musgrave

Mrs. Helen Marie Ross Musgrave, age 86, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas formerly of Wickes, Arkansas died Friday, October 10, 2008 in Dierks.

She was born February 15, 1922 in Wickes, Arkansas to Grady, Sr. and Ozie Rose Ross. She was a retail grocer and a member of the Green's Chapel United Methodist Church

Mrs. Musgrave was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bryan Musgrave in 2000; one brother, Grady Ross, Jr. and a granddaughter, Kasie Parson.

She is survived by three daughters, Kaye Alexander of Dierks, Arkansas, Paulette Blocker of Jessieville, Arkansas and Claudette Youngblood of Gillham, Arkansas; one son, Barry Musgrave of Hot Springs, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Karen Pounders, Kelli Parson, Gayla Morphew, Laurie Stephens and Glendon Youngblood; seven great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Musgrave will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2008 in the Green's Chapel United Methodist Church near Dierks with Rev. Dany Partlo and Rev. Leon McCleskey officiating. Burial will follow in the Duckett Cemetery near Wickes, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 12th at the funeral home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Mahlon Burl McFarlin

Mahlon Burl McFarlin, passed from this earth on Monday, October 1, 2008 after a lengthy illness in Dallas, Texas.

He was born in Cordele, Jackson County, Texas on August 25, 1932 to June (Harris) and Elbert Sidney McFarlin. He made a public profession of faith and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Schulenburg in 1951. He graduated from Schulenburg High School and entered the service of his country in 1953. He was honorably discharged in 196 form the Army at the rank of SP4. He moved to San Antonio and worked for the City Water Board. After working there for several years, he moved to Dallas, Texas in 1961. He worked for Braniff Airlines for 25 years until they closed their doors. He was fortunate to be employed by Texas Instruments and retired after 13 years of service in 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.S. and June McFarlin; three brothers: Johnie Lee, Sidney Buford, and Howard Ray McFarlin and one sister, Imogene (McFarlin) McClay.

He is survived by his wife: Audrey Macine (Simpson) McFarlin of Dallas; one son: Mahlon Craig McFarlin of Lockwood, NY; two step-daughters: Vicki Nelson and husband Mike, Sherrie Lynn Easley and husband Jimmy; 3 granddaughters: Amanda Messer and husband William, Jenea Hinsley and husband Jammie, and Jessica L. Easley; sisters and brothers-in-law: Urah Johnson of Houston, Ouida Mitchell and husband Gene of Dallas, Betty Brock of Arlington, Kathryn Hollabaugh of Cleveland, Edwina Hutsell and husband Gene of Mountain Grove, MO, and Janice Vassigh of Spring Texas; 26 nieces and nephews and numerous relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life was held at 2 pm Monday, October 6, 2008 at North Dallas Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm, October 8, 2008 in West Otis Cemetery in Horatio, AR under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.

Memorials may be made in Mr. McFarlin's name to the American Cancer Society, Dallas, Texas or the Texas Voice Project for Parkinson Disease, 500 N Coit Road, Suite 2085, Richardson, Texas 75080.

Alvin Ernest Friday

Alvin Ernest Friday, beloved Husband, Daddy and Grandpa, age 72, of Lockesburg, Arkansas died Monday, October 6, 2008 at his home.

Mr. Friday was born June 21st 1936 in Lockesburg, Arkansas. He was a retired farmer, an Air Force Veteran, a member of the First Baptist Church in Lockesburg where he served as a deacon for many years. He was very active in his church and enjoyed spending time with his family, and working around his home.

Mr. Friday was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Thelma Friday.

Survivors include his wife, Irma Dowdle Friday of Lockesburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Ramie Friday of Lockesburg, and Ken and Peggy Friday of Horatio; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joni and Larry Clay of Lockesburg, Andrea and Peter Tatta of Lockesburg and Elizabeth and J.J. Taylor of Texarkana; two brothers, Bobby Friday and Bill Friday both of Lockesburg; one sister, Mary Linda Riley of De Queen; 10 grandchildren and one to be born in January, 7 great-grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Friday will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in the First Baptist Church of Lockesburg with Rev. Ken Howard and Rev. Jack Gilliland officiating. Burial will follow in the Belleville Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 7th at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Thomas Wesley Morrison

Mr. Thomas Wesley Morrison, age 68, a resident of Grannis, Ark., died Saturday, October 4, 2008 in a Texarkana Hospital.

He was born to Albert and Virginia Lawrence Morrison on October 27, 1939, at Olney, Oklahoma. Mr. Morrison worked construction, and was an auto mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Lee Morrison.

He is survived by one son Brian Morrison of Corpus Christi, Texas, four daughters, Denise Waldon of De Queen, Tracy Womack of Roosevelt, Utah, Cindy Ellis of Simsboro, Louisiana, and Jill Kemp of Texarkana, Texas, his mother, Virginia Morrison of Downingtown, Penn; two brothers Bill Morrison of Downingtown, Penn.; and Jerry Morrison of Alpine, Texas, one sister, Dee Blackwell of Katy, Texas, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 9, 2008 in the Mineral Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Beulah Taylor Enoch

Mrs. Beulah Taylor Enoch, age 82, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Thursday, October 2,2008, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Enoch was born September 26, 1926, at Foreman, Arkansas, and has lived in Texarkana since 1991. She was a member of Beech Street First Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Enoch of Texarkana, Arkansas, one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Wenxin Enoch of Montgomery, Alabama, two daughers and one son-in-law, Sandra Enoch of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Susan and Tony Giurato of Alpharetta, Georgia, two sisters, Eula Lagrone of Orange, Texas and Alma Pool of Lockesburg, Arkansas,one brother, Elmer Taylor of Junction City, Arkansas, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Texarkana Funeral Home Arkansas Chapel with Dr. Bill Steeger officiating. Burial will be at Rondo Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Arlis Harris

Mr. Arlis Harris, age 83, a resident of the Fellowship Community, near Dierks, Arkansas, and former resident of Daisy and De Queen, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 in the Howard Memorial Hospital, Nashville.

He was born to George L. and Laura Lena Roberts Harris at Arlie, Texas, on February 5, 1925. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Air Force, as a tail gunner. He was an employee of Weyerhaeuser Company, retiring in March of 1982 with 32 years service. He came out of retirement and worked for other companies, including Green Thumb. He was a member of the Church of Christ, where he served as an elder many years for the De Queen Church of Christ, and enjoyed studying and teaching the Bible, music, visiting with people and watching the news and weather. He was preceded in death by his parents, and in 2004, his wife of over 58 years, Flora Victoria Mounts Harris.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Robert Peek of Mineral Springs, Ark.; a son, Roger Harris of Wisconsin, four grandchildren and their spouses, Robin and Roy Perryman of Nash, Texas, Lena and Steven Bramlett of Cleveland, Tenn.; Amanda and Jim Bob Medlock of Hope, Ark.; and Nathan and Christy Peek of Mineral Springs, Ark.; five great-grandchildren, Ethan Peek, Cassi Peek, Daniel Buck, Madalyn Bramlett, and Trace Bramlett, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Arlis Harris will be held in the Church of Christ at Dierks, Ark. at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, with Robert Peek, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery, De Queen, Ark. under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 3rd.

Maria Refugio Romero

Maria Refugio Romero, age 97, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at her home.

She was born July 11, 1911 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Jose Maria Romero and Librada Ruvalcaba. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Barbara Catholic Church.

Mrs. Romero was preceded in death by one son, Guadalupe Ruvalcaba and one great-granddaughter.

She is survived by one son, Ulderico Ruvalcaba and one daughter, Rebecca Ruvalcaba, both of De Queen; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2008 in the St. Barbara Catholic Church with Father Juan Carlos officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
