DonAnn McGough McDonald

Mrs. DonAnn McGough McDonald, age 58, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Friday, January 10, 2009, at her home.

She was born to Nathan and Eunice Crenshaw McGough at De Queen, Arkansas, on January 13, 1950. She was an employee of Domtar, where she was a Lab Tech, as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, and remodeling houses, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gerald and Coy McGough, and in 1981, her husband, Donnie McDonald.

She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Shelly and Keith Frazier of Texarkana, Texas, and Stacie McDonald Turner of Hot Springs, AR, four grandchildren, Cade Mayes, Elizabeth Dorsett, Logan Turner and Karlie Turner, two brothers, Sherman McGough and Roger McGough both of Horatio, three sisters, Mildred Langsford of Horatio, Laverne Styles of Houston, Texas, and Dorothy Puttman of Texarkana, AR, and a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for DonAnn McDonald will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2009 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. L. Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Horatio Cemetery, Horatio, AR, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Miguel Alarcon

Mr. Miguel Alarcon, age 42, a resident of Wickes, died Sunday, January 11, 2009, in the UMAS Hospital at Little Rock, Ark.

He was born to Pedro Alarcon and Luisa Mojica at Tultepec Parotas, Guerrero, Mexico, on August 25, 1966. He was a farmer, a former employee of Tyson Foods, and a Catholic, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Mariafeliz Arizmendis Alarcon of Wickes, three daughters, Jennifer, Jessica, and Natalina Alarcon all of Wickes, three brothers, Isidro Alarcon and Gabriel Alarcon both of Wickes and Pedro Alarcon of Mexico, five sisters, Inocencia and Teofila Alarcon both of Wickes, Adelina Alarcon, Maria Alarcon, and Sofia Alarcon all of Mexico, as well as other family members.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2009, in the San Jun Diego Catholic Church at Wickes with Father Jose Orellanao Officiating. Burial will follow in the Grannis Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas. Visitation will be at the San Jun Diego Catholic Church at Wickes from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Charles Chandler

Bro. Charles Kimball Chandler, age 68, a resident of the Westline Community of Sevier County, Arkansas, Died Monday, January 12, 2009 at his home. He was born to Clarence and Mary Allen Chandler at De Queen Arkansas, on March 31, 1940.. He was a minister of the gospel, and owner and operated a Sawmill. He was a member of the West Line Holiness Church, where he pastored for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Laniecia Gail Chandler, and two sisters, Betty Lynn Chandler and Dorles Marie Yandell.

He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Betty Jo Holder Chandler of Westline; three sons and a Daughter -in-law, Warren Lyndel Chandler of Horatio, Charles Darwin of De Queen, and Cheston Lance and Lorenda Chandler of Westline, three daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Arlene and Donald Wayne Winton of DeQueen, Gayla Ann and Beau Strout of Foreman, Ar, and Sherry Lynne and Toby Tallant of Winthrop, AR. three brothers, Clyde Chandler of Westline, AR, Jimmy Chandler of Idabel, Ok, and Randy Chandler of New Boston,Tx, two sisters, Laura Nelson of Melber, Ky, and Glenda Johnson of Tom, Ok, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Bro. Charles Chandler will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15,2009 in the First Assembly of God Church, De Queen. with Bro. Braxton Bigot, Bro. Tracy Welch, and Bro. Sammy Cottrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Westline Cemetery, Westline, Ark., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14,2009.

Wynona Louise Sanders Jones

Wynona Louise Sanders Jones, age 67, a resident of De Queen, AR died Saturday, January 10, 2009 in the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana .

She was born June 24, 1941 in Trousdale, OK to Thomas and Ruby Thomas Sanders. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Jones of De Queen; two sons, Brian Crownover and David Jones, both of De Queen; two sisters, Ruby Burris of Chowchilla, CA, and Vivian Hoofard of Red Bluff, CA; two brothers, Tommy Sanders of Kingfisher, OK and Jerry Sanders of Wanette, OK; 7 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Hazel Ashley Krudwig

Mrs. Hazel Ashley Krudwig, age 90, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 in the Crystal Falls Healthcare Center in De Queen.

She was born February 13, 1918 in Sevier County to Randolph and Oma Holder Ashley. She was a certified nurse’s aid and a member of the De Queen Church of Christ.

Mrs. Krudwig was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Vernon Krudwig on November 13, 1991; three brothers, 4 sisters, and 3 grandchildren, Chuckie, Stephen and Tracey.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles F. and Alice Krudwig, David and Rene Krudwig and Kenneth and Judy Krudwig all of De Queen; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Ester Eads of Cabot, Arkansas and Judy and Carroll Wallis of Corinth, Mississippi; one sister and brother-in-law, Idell and Pete Peterson of De Queen; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Krudwig will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Her sons will officiate. Burial will follow in the Crosstrails Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 9th at the funeral home.

Lucille Craig Whitley

Mrs. Lucille Craig Whitley, age 92, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at her home.

She was born August 26, 1916 in Quitman, Texas to Henry and Grace Miller Craig. She was a homemaker, a member of the Union Quilting Club, Extension Homemakers Club and the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church .

Mrs. Whitley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willie Lee “Bill” Whitley on May 3, 1983; three brothers, Chester, Roy and H.M. and one sister, Blanche.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Jane Whitley of Horatio; two daughters, Lou Colbert of De Queen and Brenda Murphy of Dallas, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Clovis and Jimna Craig of De Queen; two sisters, Jewel Ward of Bossier City, Louisiana and Helen Long of De Queen; six grandchildren, Jana Spillman, Lecy Tuminello, Misty Brown, Biccy Hamilton, Ashley Whitley and Cindy Slakey; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Whitley will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009 in the Redmen Cemetery with Paul Ramler officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Jan 9th at the funeral home.

Eva Tom Ray Verducci

Mrs. Eva Tom Ray Verducci, age 89, a resident of Horatio, died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 in the Crystal Falls Nursing Center in De Queen.

She was born May 17, 1919 in the Walnut Springs Community to T.M. and Ina Rankin Ray. She was a school teacher for the Pasadena, Texas School System for 24 years; she served in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II and was a member of the Horatio Methodist Church .

Mrs. Verducci was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis Verducci on December 29, 1993, and one son, Tommy Verducci.

She is survived by one son, Ray Verducci of Horatio; two sisters, Joaquin Long of De Queen and Vivian Long of Little River Club; one brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Noni Ray of Houston; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Verducci will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2008 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Millwee Cemetery .

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Saturday, January 10th at the funeral home.

Elmo Griffin Wooten

Mrs. Elmo Griffin Wooten, age 88, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Monday, January 05, 2009 at her home in Lockesburg.

She was born September 29, 1920 in Horatio, Arkansas to Jim and Jessie Allen Griffin. She was a retired nurse at the Dickinson Hospital in De Queen and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Wooten was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ronald Summerhill and a brother, Estess Griffin.

She is survived by her husband, Wallace Wooten; two sons, Wallace Wayne Wooten and Jim Wooten both of Lockesburg; one sister, Ozean Morris of Oklahoma City ; a daughter-in-law, Barbie Summerhill of Lockesburg; three grandchildren; one great- grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2009 in the Falls Chapel Cemetery with Larry Fry and Jason Brown officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 6th at the funeral home in De Queen.

Shirley M. Berg Bartholomew

Mrs. Shirley M. Berg Bartholomew, age 68, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, January 04, 2009, in the Doctor’s Hospital at Little Rock, Ark.

She was born to Hubert and Alice Marsh Berg at Bottineau, North Dakota, on June 25, 1940. She was the Chancellor’s Administrative Assistant at the Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas, as well as a homemaker. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, and enjoyed painting, music, crafts, yard work, traveling and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Mandy Bartholomew of Idabel, Okla.; Dave and Beth Bartholomew of Little Rock, and Kevin and Lisa Bartholomew of Conway, Ark.; her mother, Alice Berg of Othello, Wash.; six grandchildren, Lauren, Alexandra, Reid, Matt, Elisabeth, and Amelia, two brothers, Lawrence Berg of Warden, Wash. and Allen Berg of Othello, Wash.; one sister, Joyce Fielding of Spokane, Wash.; and a number of nieces and nephews, as well as colleagues and friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Shirley Bartholomew will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2009, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Onda officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 6th.

George Richard Gillespie

George Richard Gillespie, Sr., age 70, a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas, died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at his home.

He was born July 27, 1938 in De Queen, Arkansas to Clarence Henry and Daisy Adeline Davidson Gillespie. He was a city manager for Lockesburg and Ashdown, Arkansas and Rosebud and Tawakoni, Texas . He was an Army and Air Force Veteran and a member of the Rosebud Baptist Church .

Mr. Gillespie was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Sue Gillespie of Ashdown, Arkansas; five children, George Richard Gillespie, Jr., Joy Camille Peoples and her husband Tim of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Clarence Richard Gillespie, Jerry Leon Gillespie and Tony Lynn Gillespie and his wife Stacey all of Ashdown, Arkansas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosa Lee Bailey and R.L. and Nancy Jean Sisk and Johnny all of De Queen, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services for Mr. Gillespie will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2009 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Robert Ward officiating.

Mr. Fred Daniel “Danny” Callahan

Mr. Fred Daniel “Danny” Callahan, age 45, a resident of Horatio, Ark., died Friday, January 2, 2009 at Horatio, Arkansas.

He was born to Fred Paul and Bette Summerhays Callahan at Belvedere, Illinois, on December 9, 1963. He was an employee of Pilgrim’s Pride, and was a member of the Church of Christ at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and drinking coffee with friends.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1999.

He is survived by a daughter, Tasha Callahan of De Queen, his mother, Bette Davidson of Horatio, three grandsons, Tristen, Ruben, and Isaiah, three brothers; Luverne Lemke of Roscoe, Ill., Michael Callahan of Horatio, and Joseph Callahan of Houma, La.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Penny and Eugene Myers of Machesney Park, Ill, Patricia and Conrad Hahn of Vergas, Minn., and Jane and Ray Richardson of Horatio, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Fred Callahan will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2009, in the Piney Cemetery, Crossroads, Ark. with Van Ledbetter, minister officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6th.
