Mr. Bobby Gene Daffern

Mr. Bobby Gene Daffern, age 77, a native of Winthrop, Arkansas, resident of Coldsprings, Texas died Friday, October 4, 2013 in the Christus St. Michael’s Health System in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born March 4, 1936 in Winthrop, Arkansas to Fred and Lillie Mae Frady Daffern. He served in the U.S. Navy; he later worked in construction and the oil fields; he was happiest in his garden; he loved family and friends and he was a Christian.

Mr. Daffern was preceded in death by his daughter, Darla Daffern; parents; three sisters, Marie Hood, Pat Page and Betty Smith and one brother, Floyd Stinnet.

He is survived by his wife, Vickey Winfrey Daffern and two granddaughters, Kylee and Amy; three uncles, Mack, Billy and Johnny Frady; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Daffern will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2013 in the Pauley Cemetery in Winthrop, Arkansas, with Jamie Cowan officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas. You may register on-line at www.wilkersonfuneralhomes.com

Mrs. Mittie Lenora Hill Wood

Mrs. Mittie Lenora Hill Wood, age 84, a resident of Texarkana, Texas, formerly of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in Texarkana.

She was born November 21, 1928 in Lockesburg. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church, where she taught preschool Sunday school and enjoyed playing the piano.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents, Vadin Glen and Mittie Eva Tabler Hill; her husband, Eugene Wood; and two brothers, Rudolph and Herman Hill.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Kathy Wood of Texarkana, Texas; one daughter, Pat Rogers of Williamston, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Nicholas Wood, Morgan Wood and Jennifer Gregory; one great-grandson, Russell Gregory; one sister, Erma Chanslor of Texarkana; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2013 in the Wright’s Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3rd at the funeral home in De Queen.

Mrs. Linda Diane Pogue Cunningham Ridenour

Mrs. Linda Diane Pogue Cunningham Ridenour, age 51, a resident of Ben Lomond, Arkansas, died Sunday, September 29, 2013 at her home.

She was born May 14, 1962 in Peru, Indiana. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Ridenour was preceded in death by her mother, Robbie Belcher Pogue.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Chris Teehee of Ben Lomond and Nicki and Brandon Humphrey of Foreman; two brothers, Keith Pogue of Horatio and Johnny Pogue of De Queen; one sister, Patty Willis of De Queen; her father, John Pogue of Horatio; 7 grandchildren, Gary, Christopher, Robbie, Kaylee, Preston, Cathy and Mari.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Ridenour will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 3, 2013, in the Mt. Ida Cemetery with Sequoyah Teehee officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 2nd at the funeral home.

Mrs. Virginia Sherman Abney

Mrs. Virginia Sherman Abney, age 86, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Sunday, September 29, 2013, in Provo, Arkansas.

She was born February 4, 1927, in Provo, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Mrs. Abney was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Abney; her parents, Paul and Dora Faulkner Sherman; three brothers, Odus, Erman and Truman Sherman; five sisters, Pearl Lewis, Snow Holmes, Dortha Fountain, Allie Edwards and Lucille Sherman.

She is survived by one sister, Clarene Helms of Provo, Arkansas; one brother, Will D. Sherman of Euless, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Abney will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2013, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Old union Cemetery in Lockesburg.

Family and friends will gather after the funeral at Provo Community Building for fellowship and lunch.

Mr. Albert Verne “Butch” Tuttle, Jr.

Mr. Albert Verne “Butch” Tuttle, Jr., age 67, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Sunday, September 29, 2013 at his home.

He was born January 18, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Albert Verne Tuttle and Jacklyn McCoin. He spent his childhood in De Queen and Daisy and married Beverly Cook on June 11, 1966. Butch was a welder, a member of the I.B.E.W. Union, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a talented baseball pitcher who coached and watched baseball and softball for years. He enjoyed working in his shop, going to tractor shows, and watching westerns.

Butch was preceded in death by parents and his beloved dog, Maggie.

He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Beverly Tuttle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Sandi Tuttle of Dardanelle, Jeff and Eileen Tuttle of Dierks, a daughter, Catherine Tuttle of Dierks; three granddaughters, Shelby Brewer, Emily Brewer and Savannah Tuttle; one grandson, Riley Tuttle; one great-granddaughter, Avery Albright; a great-nephew, Luke Tollett; four sisters, Becky McAnally, Verna Sirmon, June Westfall, and Donna Herring; two brothers, Jack Tuttle and Frank Tuttle; and numerous other family and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Tuttle will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in the Fellowship Cemetery with Jerry Mounts officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the funeral home in Dierks.

Pansy Marlana Yocum

Pansy Marlana Yocum, age 35, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, September 20th at her home.

She was born to Henry Eldon and Lilly Ann Conatser Yocum at De Queen, Arkansas, on May 20, 1978. She was a member of the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church as well as a homemaker.

Marlana was preceded in death by her father, her grandparents, Pete and Henryetta Yocum, Pansy and O. J. Knighten, and an aunt, Eva Lou Hibbs

She is survived by her companion, Patrick Sterling Debo of De Queen, two sons, Daunte and Nathanael Yocum both of De Queen, one daughter, Mia Yocum of De Queen, her mother, Ann Yocum of De Queen, a sister, Lanette Rogers of De Queen, and a nephew and wife, Timothy and Samora Rogers of Magnolia, a niece, Jessica Chandler of De Queen, and three great-nieces, Jasmye, Trinity, and Alexia, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Graveside funeral services for Marlana Yocum will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 26th in the Clear Creek Cemetery with Elder Don Fortner officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pansy Marlana Yocum Memorial Fund, Bancorp South, De Queen, Arkansas.

Paul Stradford Davignon, Sr.

Paul Stradford Davignon, Sr. age 76, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at his home.

He was born February 7, 1937 in Dallas, Texas. He was a telecommunication technician for Weyerhaeuser, a member of the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church and a Mason for 37 years.

Mr. Davignon was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Emma Rouster Davignon and his wife, Betty Jean Davignon.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl Lynn and Steve Burcham and Linda K. and David Steward all of Lockesburg, Arkansas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul S. Jr. and Cynthia Davignon of Provo, Arkansas and Michael Wayne and Sonya Davignon of De Queen, Arkansas; four sisters, Dora Proffit of Abilene, Texas, Pauline Stannard of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Donna Blackmon of Tyler, Texas and Jeannie Davignon of Plano, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services with Masonic Rites will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013, in the Old Union Cemetery with James Gathright officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, September 20th at the funeral home

Tony Rex Larey

Tony Rex Larey passed peacefully in the arms of his loving parents on September 17, 2013 at Good Shephard Hospital in Longview, TX. Rex Larey was born at 9:30 pm and met the eyes of Jesus. Rex is the son of Landon and Brandi Larey of Texarkana, TX.

He is survived by one sibling Dillion Martin of Texarkana, Texas. His parental grandparents are Mark and Naomi Larey of Louke, AR; and maternal grandparents, Tony and Vicki Lisenby of Foreman, AR; Uncle and Aunt ASlan and Christy Lee of Gilham, AR. Uncle David Wortham of Valliant; Uncle and Aunt Brandon and Beth Larey of Hooks, TX. Rex is deeply loved by his mommy and daddy, big brother Dillion, his grandparents, great grandparents, aunts and uncles, his cousins and many more.

Graveside Services will be held at Blackland Cemetery Saturday September 21 at 2:00 pm under the direction of Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown, AR, with Pastor Doug Larey officiating.

Memorial Services will follow at the home of Tony and Vicki Lisenby of Foreman, AR.

Mrs. Zona Mae Hubbard Blackwood

Mrs. Zona Mae Hubbard Blackwood, age 89, a resident of Texarkana, Texas, died Monday, September 16, 2013, in Texarkana.

She was born July 26, 1924, in Wright’s Chapel, Arkansas.

Mrs. Blackwood was preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Etta Honnell Hubbard; her husband, Max Blackwood and one son, Terry Blackwood.

She is survived by three sisters, Sunny Evans of Canute, Oklahoma, Wybel Kibbe of Stockdale, Texas and Helen Jones of Mineral Springs, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Fran Simone of Charleston, West Virginia and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Blackwood will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 20, 2013, in the Wrights Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Gracie Mae Folsom Paul

ROE - Gracie Mae Folsom Paul, 84, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Crestpark Nursing Home.

She was born March 6, 1919, in Keo, the daughter of Jerry C. and Queen Roberts Folsom. She was retired from Riceland Foods as a packaging operator.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Paul Sr.; seven brothers, Hill Folsom, Eiff Folsom, Richard Folsom, Jerry Folsom, Frank Folsom, Homer Folsom and Bill Folsom; and one sister, Ruth Mae Nelson.

Survivors include three sons, Jasper Paul Jr. of Cloverdale, Ind., Jerry Paul of Little Rock and Charles Paul of Alabama; two daughters, Susie May and Floy Holmes, both of Ulm; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with Linda Lyons officiating. Burial followed in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.

ALFRED FLOYD WORKMAN

GILLETT--Alfred Floyd Workman, age 86, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003. He was born April 20, 1917 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He served in the Army and Navy and was a World War II veteran. As part of the Little Rock District of the Corps of Engineers, Alfred was lockmaster of Locks and Dams One and Two, retiring with 45 years in governmental service. He served as Mayor of Gillett from 1982-1991. Being an avid square dancer, he was a leader in making the square dance Arkansas' State Folk Dance. He was a member of the Gillett United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Jeannie Workman of Gallipolis, Ohio, two brothers, Ira Workman and Oscar Workman and a sister, Anna Merrill Barnett, all of Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Workman of Gillett; four daughters, Jennie Sibert of Shelbyville, Ky., Ethel Thompson of Louisville, Ky., Donna Barnett of Gillett, Lillie (Tom) Crossland of Humphrey; five sisters, Jennie (Wallace) Henry of Gallipolis, Ohio, Hilda (Sam) Petruzzi of West Mifflin, Pa., Doris (Allen) Waugh of Williamsburg, Ohio, Edith May of Wadsworth, Ohio, Mary Jo (Eddie) Fulks of Crown City, Ohio; four brothers, Chess (Emma) Workman of Pt. Pleasant, W.Va., Taylor (Dessie) Workman of West Union, Ohio, Bob Workman of Columbus, Ohio, Ralph (Carol) Workman of Gallipolis, Ohio; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Gillett United Methodist Church with burial at Gillett Cemetery by Essex Funeral home of DeWitt. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., today at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to Gillett United Methodist Church or the Gillett Cemetery Association.

GEORGE BAYLESS LANE

George Bayless Lane, age 89, of Stuttgart, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003. He was born Jan. 12, 1914 in Humphrey. He was a Baptist, a retired farmer and a lifelong resident of this area. He is survived by one son, Tommy Lane of Stuttgart, one brother, Gilbert Lane of Stuttgart, and one sister, Imogene Holbert of Stuttgart and several grandchildren. Funeral services were today at 1 p.m. at the Turpin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Pete Bowen officiating. Burial was in Bayou Meto Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home.
