JIMMY W. ELROD

Jimmy Wayne Elrod, age 61, of Bauxite; passed away Friday January 23, 2004. He was born on January 7, 1943 in Benton, Arkansas. Mr. Elrod served in the U. S. Army, retired from the Arkansas State Police after 22 years of service and was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Spears Elrod.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona Joyce Elrod of Bauxite; two sons, Curtis Wayne Elrod and wife Tammie of Bauxite, Jimmy Paul Elrod and wife Courtney of Paron; daughter, Kimberly Joyce Etheridge of Bauxite; three sisters, Donnie Gibson of Benton, Bonnie Harville of Hot Springs, Vickie Tillman of Benton; six grandchildren, Kristie Elrod, Jeffrey Elrod, Hope Etheridge, Malarie Etheridge, Amy Etheridge and Erin Etheridge.

Pallbearers will be the Arkansas State Police Troop K.

Funeral services, by Ashby Funeral Home, will be 12:00 noon at Spring Creek Baptist Church with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park. The minister will be Bro. Carl Richey.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Ashby’s.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Cancer Research Center or the Spring Creek Baptist Church Youth Fund.

OCIE MAE DURAN

Ocie Mae Burnett Duran, age 72, of Benton ; went to be with the Lord on Saturday January 24, 2004. She was born on May 15, 1931 in Wall Trick, Arkansas. She was married May 17, 1958 in Greenville, Mississippi, a homemaker and loving mother and MeMaw. She will be deeply missed by all. Mrs. Duran was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Duran; parents, and two sisters.

She is survived by her four sons, Larry Duran of Greenbrier, Darrell Duran of Carthage, Louis Duran and Danny Duran both of Benton; two daughters, Debra Duran of Benton and Elaine Duran of Malvern; two brothers, David Burnett of Conway and Marvin Burnett of Star City; sister, Jamie Manes of Monticello; eighteen grandchildren and seven plus great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Troy Burnett, Michael Taylor, Eugene Hawkins, Wesley Manes, Mark Silvey and Bobbie Manes.

Graveside service, by Ashby Funeral Home, will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at New Hope Cemetery. The minister will be Bro. Robert Wiggle.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday night at Ashby’s.

LILLIAN M. WHITLEY

Lillian M. Whitley, age 76, of Little Rock; passed away Sunday January 25, 2004. She was born July 31, 1927 in Haskell, Arkansas. Mrs. Whitley was a homemaker and a member of Traskwood Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mattie Whitley and a sister, Ada Rogers.

She is survived by five sisters, Louise Whitley of Little Rock, Lucille Cole of Mabelvale, Joyce Parnell of Bryant, Janice Couch of Benton and Barbara Atkinson of Haskell.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Mt. Harmony Cemetery. The ministers will be Troy Smith, Gene Husky and Elton Cole.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Ashby’s.

Memorials may be made to the Traskwood Assembly of God.

HERMAN LONG

Herman Thomas Long, age 87, of Benton; died Sunday, January 25, 2004 at Saline Nursing Center in Benton, Arkansas. He was born April 25, 1916 in Benton, Arkansas to Herman Lyle Long and Hattie Bradsher Long. Mr. Long was in the U.S. Army Air Corp. stationed in Las Vegas, Nevada. He remained in Nevada for a number of years and then moved to Goleta, California where he was a residential contractor and an avid gardener. Mr. Long returned to Arkansas in 1989 after the death of Ollie Long, his wife of 47 years. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Scott, Arkansas. Mr. Long was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Ollie Long and Clara Stone Long; two sisters, Helen Long Chennault and Ann Moore Hawkins.

He is survived by one sister, Winona Katherine Moore of North Little Rock; two nephews, Greg Chennault and Wendell Hawkins of Benton; three nieces, Melba Fleming, Marilyn Harrington and Karen Hawkins of Benton; one great-nephew, Kevin Harrington of Benton; five great-nieces, Carla Masters of Little Rock, Rhonda Pearson, Kam Alston, Christy Chennault and Jessica Chennault all of Benton; four great-great-nephews and four great-great-nieces.

A graveside service, by Ashby Funeral Home, will be held at Gravel Hill Cemetery on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. L. D. Campbell officiating.

MINNIE M. COX

Minnie Marie Cox, age 89, of Benton; passed away Monday January 26, 2004. She was born on August 4, 1914 in Perry County, Arkansas. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Susie Orrell; daughter, Mildred M. Sutton and a great-grandchild, Paul Jones.

She is survived by her husband, Lester Clifton Cox of Benton; two brothers, Bob Orrell of Benton and Clem Orrell of Steve; two sisters, Virginia Crews of Flippin and Mattie Copper of Springdale, Oregon; two grandchildren, Sherry Sutton and Larry Sutton; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Sutton and Clint Sutton.

Funeral services, by Ashby Funeral Home, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery. The minister will be Bro. David Hiblong.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Ashby’s.

BILLY F. THOMAS

Billy Fred Thomas, age 76, of Perryville; passed away Monday January 26, 2004. He was born on September 21, 1927 in Bauxite, Arkansas. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Ethel Thomas.

He is survived by his brother, Joe Thomas of Perryville and a sister, Dorothy Burton of Newport News, Virginia.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Thursday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Cameron Cemetery. The minister will be Rev. Carl Wright.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Ashby’s.

JAMES SEALS

James Howard Seals, age 77, of Benton; passed away Wednesday January 28, 2004. He was born on August 8, 1926 in Prescott, Arkansas. Mr. Seals served in the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Army and was an employee of the Toggery Men’s Store before becoming the Saline County Circuit Clerk from 1968 to 1988. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Benton and a member of the Lions Club. Mr. Seals was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice D. and Mary Emogene Seals; daughter, Francis Elaine Vines and a sister, Charlotte Musgrove.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann Seals; four sons, Eddie Seals and wife Cathy, Bobby Seals and wife Patti, Steven Seals and Ricky Seals all of Benton; two brothers, Bob Seals of Benton and Dan Seals of Hot Springs; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery. The minister will be Dr. Rick Grant.

Visitation will be 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday night at Ashby’s.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.

BOBBY BRYANT

Bobby Louis Bryant, age 59, of Hot Springs; passed away Wednesday January 28, 2004. He was born on February 24, 1944 in Bauxite, Arkansas. Mr. Bryant was a pipefitter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Marvin and Mary Jess Bryant, Sr.

He is survived by two daughters, Bobbi Lea Frelin of Bauxite and Traci Hardig of Benton; three brothers, Leo Bryant of Camden, Alvin and Richard Bryant both of Benton; sister, Mary Edmonson of Camden and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday night at Ashby’s.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

VIRGIE E. FARNSWORTH

Virgie Estelle Farnsworth, age 82, of Benton; passed away Friday January 30, 2004. She was born on January 26, 1922 to parents, Berry and Cordie James-Limbocker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Glen T. Farnsworth; her daughter, Peggy; two brothers, Chet Limbocker and Robert Limbocker; and her granddaughter, Debbie Farnsworth.

She is survived by four sons and their wives, Glendale and Joanne Farnsworth of Benton, Johnny and Gitta Farnsworth of Forney, Texas, Bill and Patricia Farnsworth of Benton, James and Jackie Farnsworth of Bauxite; one daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Phil English of Forney, Texas; brother, Edwin Limbocker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Chessie Helton of Waldron; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind an extended family of admirers.

She was a homemaker and a gardener. Mrs. Farnsworth was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. An active member of World Wide Church of God. She was loved, admired and respected by all having crossed her path in life. She loved the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. Mrs. Farnsworth was a true pioneer of the times. Her legacy will live on in her sons, her daughter and in all the generations of Farnsworth’s to come. She will be truly missed.

Pallbearers are Russell English, Andy Farnsworth, Zach Farnsworth, Charlie Farnsworth, Joel Farnsworth and Martin Farnsworth.

The Farnsworth family will visit with friends and honor her life Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at Egypt Cemetery in Blue Ball, Arkansas. Services will be officiated by Mr. Leon Steel and Mr. Davy Crockett.

BESSIE GOLDMAN

Bessie Beatrice Goldman, age 63, of Benton; passed away Friday March 26, 2004. She was born on July 30, 1940 in Cardin, Oklahoma. Mrs. Goldman worked in production and of the Baptist faith. The Lord was her savior and she was an extrordinary mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman Elmer Dollison and Elba Vera Cooper Dollison and three brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Rudy Goldman; two sons, Homer Edward Adams and Larry Dean Adams; daughter, Kathy Jean Moody all of Benton; four brothers, Ned, Raymond, Richard and Doug Dollison all of Oklahoma; three sisters, Cleta Ware and Dee Johnson both of Kansas and Mae Wilkes of Arkansas; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Private memorial services will be held by the family at a later date.

CURT G. ZORNES

Mr. Curt G. Zornes age 52, of Malvern died Saturday at his home. He was born August 3, 1951 in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Mr. Zornes was the owner and operator of Curt Zornes Motors in Benton and a member of the Family Bible Church in Bryant.

Survivors, sons, Aaron Zornes, Malvern; J. W. Zornes, Benton; father, Bill Zornes, Primm, Arkansas; mother and step-father, Mary M. and Lynn D. “Bud” Chambers, Hot Springs; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna Zornes and her husband John Hills, Little Rock; Gayle and Jeff Mayfield, Benton.

Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Family Bible Church with burial at Pinecrest Cemetery, Minister will be Rev. Perry Black.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30PM Tuesday at Ashby’s.

IRMTRAUD WILSON

Irmtraud Elizabeth Wilson, age 63, of Benton; passed away Sunday March 28, 2004. She was born on January 29, 1941 in Saarbrucken, Germany. Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and a member of Highland Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Lee Wilson of Benton ; son, Robert Lee Wilson of Little Rock and a grandson, Alex Wilson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Forest Hills Cemetery. The minister will be Rev. Brian Moore.

Visitation will be 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night at Ashby’s.
