BATESVILLE -- Essie Lene Darty Watkins Williams, 78, of Batesville died Friday, Dec. 24, at Jonesboro.

Born at Lacrosse, she worked for the North Arkansas Clinic and White River Medical Center at Batesville. She was member of Bethel AME Church of Batesville.

Survivors include two sons, Albert Randell Watkins Jr. of Jonesboro and Claxton Norwood Watkins of Batesville; one daughter, Ernestine Viola Watkins of Batesville; one sister, Lillie Mae Watkins of Batesville; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Albert Watkins and Hugh Williams; her parents, Earnest Williams and Lizzie Darty; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethel AME Church, with the Rev. Keith Grandberry and the Rev. Tom Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Sweet Home Cemetery at Lacrosse under the direction of Qualls Batesville Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Arthur Montgomery, Bobby Cothrine, N.H. Strong, Corey Davidson, Cecil Sherrill and Ben Earls.

Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Wright

Geraldine L. Wright, 86, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Dec. 26, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Greentown, Pa., she had lived in Pea Ridge before moving to Jonesboro in 1984. She was of the Methodist belief.

Survivors include three sons, Sam Wright of Jonesboro, Gary Wright of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Mark Wright of Dallas; one brother, Calvin Cross of Bechtelsville, Pa.; a sister, Doris Bartleson of South Sterling, Pa.; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan J. Wright; her parents, Howard and Minnie Cross; and two brothers.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Log Cemetery, with Dick Haltom officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Gary Don Davis, Scott Burrow, Fred Cunningham, Bill Williams, George Hamman and Alvin Simmons.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Baledge

LEACHVILLE -- Ola Violet Maynard Baledge, 89, of Leachville died Wednesday, Dec. 29, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Senath, Mo., she was a lifelong resident of the Leachville area and a member of First Baptist Church in Leachville.

Survivors include a son, Norman A. Maynard of Cordova, Tenn.; a grandson, Keith Maynard of Palmdale, Calif.; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Myrl Maynard and Bernard Baledge; her parents, Taylor and Suzanna Wilson; and three brothers.

A graveside service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday in Leachville Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Wheeler officiating. Howard Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Boling

James Glyn Boling, 76, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Dec. 30, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Craighead County, he was a lifelong resident of the Jonesboro area. He was a retired repair technician for Sears and had previously worked for Arkla Gas Co.

A 1947 graduate of Dixie High School, he was a Navy veteran and a Jonesboro Police Department reserve officer in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include five brothers, Ralph Boling, Fred Boling, Clint Boling and Larry Boling, all of Jonesboro, and Ken Boling of Paragould; two sisters, Moneice Michalek of Belleville, Mich., and Flossie Baggett of Jonesboro; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Jewell Boling and Alice Boling; a son, Jimmy Boling; his parents, Elmer and Lila Ellington Boling; two sisters; and a brother.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel, with Robbie McMasters officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, 3203 Race St., Jonesboro 72401.

Bridges

CORDOVA, Tenn. -- Mildred Bridges, 79, of Cordova died Wednesday, Dec. 29, at McKendree Village Nursing Home in Hermitage, Tenn.

Born in Lafe, she was a retired supervisor of printing for Holiday Inn and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Memphis.

Survivors include two sons, Philip Bridges of Starkville, Miss., and Charles Bridges of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; a brother, Norman Panhorst of Paragould; a sister, Sanndra Lilly of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, O.D. Bridges; her parents, Martin and Leona Scheer Panhorst; and one brother.

Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Heath Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel with Maurice Hurd officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens at Paragould.

Visitation will be 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Paragould Children's Home.

Britton

THAYER, Mo. -- Cleo Elizabeth Britton, 93, of Thayer, formerly of Cherokee Village and Culver City, Calif., died Thursday, Dec. 30, at Shady Oaks Healthcare Center in Thayer.

Born in Olney, Ill., she was a member of Cherokee Village Community Chorus and Cherokee Village United Methodist Church, where she was a former member of the choir.

Survivors include a brother, R. Dale Britton of Cherokee Village.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

A private memorial service at Cherokee Village United Methodist Church Columbarium is planned at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.

Memorials may be made to Cherokee Village United Methodist Church.

Cook

BYHALIA, Miss. -- Charline Cook, 84, of Byhalia died Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Alliance Health Care in Holly Springs, Miss.

Born in Wynne, she was a longtime resident of Cross County, a retired seamstress for Addison Shoe Factory and a member of Sharpe's Chapel Church of God.

Survivors include two sons, John Edwin Cook of Oklahoma City and Roy Eugene Cook of Horn Lake, Miss.; three daughters, Norma East of Byhalia, Yvonne Gilbert of Memphis, and Betty Hurst of Perryville; three brothers, Marvin Coggins of Wynne, Alvin Coggins of California and Willie Lee Coggins of Illinois; three sisters, Agnes Kernodle of California and Eunice Stanlake and Kathleen Dorris, both of Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cook; one son, Jerry Cook; and her parents, John Harrison Coggins and Pauline Sharp Coggins.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Kernodle Funeral Home, with the Rev. J.L. McGarrity and the Rev. Terry Black officiating. Burial will follow in Akins Cemetery at Vanndale.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Sharpe's Chapel Church of God, 2746 Arkansas 163, Wynne 72396.

Mason

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Amy Little Mason, 98, of Terre Haute, formerly of Jonesboro, died Dec. 26, in Terre Haute.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Hocker Mason.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
