Bryant

CASH -- Opal Glidewell Bryant, 89, of Cash died Sunday, Jan. 23, of her residence.

Arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Halvorson

CHEROKEE VILLAGE -- A memorial service for John Halvorson, 64, of Cherokee Village, who died Sunday, Jan. 16, at his residence, will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Cherokee Village United Methodist Church.

Born in Austin, Minn., he was a graduate of Oak Park-River Forest High School in Oak Park, Ill., where he was a member of the track and football teams. He attended Ray Vogue Graphic Arts, assisted his father in a roofing and stucco construction business and retired from B.A.M. Studios in Chicago, where he worked as a commercial artist and art director. An award-winning artist specializing in watercolors, he moved to Cherokee Village in 1996, where he did freelance artwork, participated in the Strawberry River and the Spring River Art associations.

He was a volunteer with the Ozark Family Development Center, the Village Players and Cherokee Village Business Association and a member of Cherokee Village United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Wendelken Halvorson; three daughters, Lisa Wilcoxen of Chicago, Lori Bislin of Raafz, Switzerland, and Lynne Halvorson of Portland, Ore.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Heath Funeral Home's Oak Hill Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Henegar

Darlene West Henegar, 78, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Jan. 24, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Shelbyville, Tenn., she lived at Memphis before moving to Jonesboro in 1963. She owned and operated West Dry Cleaners at Jonesboro for several years and was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Robin Henegar of Jonesboro; one daughter, Melody Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Martha Brandon of Paragould and Barbara Terrell of Batesville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matt Henegar, Josh Terrell, Ross Settles, Jim Brandon, Edd Brandon, Christopher Brandon and Land Brandon.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lemmond

Howard M. Lemmond, 89, of Jonesboro died Monday, Jan. 24, at NEA Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

McCrackin

Funeral services for Elder Jewel L. McCrackin, 90, of Jonesboro, who died Saturday, Jan. 22, at Westwood Health and Rehab in Springdale, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel.

G.W. Endicott will officiate, and burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Reed McCrackin, Ryan McCrackin, Chase McCrackin, Ben McCrackin and Logan McCrackin, and great-grandsons, Trenton Bratcher and Chad Wolf.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Bethany Baptist Church and ministers from the Jonesboro Missionary Baptist Association.

Born at Strawberry, he attended Jonesboro Bible College and the seminary in Little Rock. He was a longtime Baptist minister in Northeast Arkansas and other areas in Arkansas had also worked in radio broadcasting for more than 50 years.

A member of the board at Central Baptist College of Conway, he was a charter member and co-founder of Bethany Baptist Church, where he was a pastor for several years. He was a pastor and member at Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lois McCrackin of the home; two sons, Bob McCrackin of Springdale and Van McCrackin of Little Rock; a daughter, Pat Lewis of Springdale; seven grandchildren, Cristi Wolf, Reed McCrackin, Ryan McCrackin, Chase McCrackin, Ben McCrackin, Logan McCrackin and Scarlett McCrackin; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.H. McCrackin, four brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

McKinney

ARKADELPHIA -- Lorene McKinney, 87, of Arkadelphia, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died Sunday, Jan. 23, at her residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Sherrill

MARKED TREE -- Helen Sherrill, 92, of Marked Tree died Monday, Jan. 24, at her residence.

Arrangements will be announced by Sims-Woodard Funeral Service of Marked Tree.

Sparkman

Graveside services for Steven Dale Sparkman, 30, of Jonesboro, who died Saturday, Jan. 22, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Monette Cemetery.

The Rev. Tom Wellman will officiate and burial will follow under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Born at Paragould, he lived in Lake City before moving to Jonesboro several months ago. He was a 1992 graduate of Riverside High School and worked as a welder for American Railcar Industries.

Survivors include his wife, Keri Sparkman of the home; his parents, Jimmy and Joyce Sparkman of Lake City; two brothers, Daniel Sparkman of Lake City and Terry Sparkman of Trumann; and his maternal grandmother, Perlie Sneed of Caraway.

He was preceded in death by one sister, his maternal grandfather and his paternal grandparents.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous.

Sparks

A celebration service for Jerry Sparks of Jonesboro, formerly of Caraway, who died Sunday, Jan. 23, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. today at First Assembly of God, 1404 Stone St.

The Rev. Mike Glover, the Rev. Carl Anders and the Rev. John Lee will officiate and burial will be in Memorial Gardens at Paragould. Services will be under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Born in Southeast Missouri, he moved to Caraway, where he farmed for many years. He later moved to Jonesboro and continued to farm until his retirement. He was chosen Outstanding Farmer of the Year.

Survivors include his wife, Claudine Jackson Sparks of the home; three daughters, Gale Williams, Debbie Perkins and Michelle Davis, all of Jonesboro; one sister, Betty Busby of Paragould; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to Jonesboro Church Health Center, missions at First Assembly or the Gideons.

Spurlock

PARAGOULD -- Esther Spurlock, 84, of Paragould died Sunday, Jan. 23, at Greene Acres Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.

Wayer

HARDY -- Eugene Edward Wayer, 79, of Hardy died Sunday, Jan. 23, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Du Bois, Ill., he was owner and operator of Wayer Sheet Metal in Paragould.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Wayer of Hardy and Joseph Wayer of Paragould; two brothers, Alfred Wayer and Clarence Wayer, both of Du Quoin, Ill; two sisters, Gertrude Walker and Verjean Hoffman, both of St. Louis; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Sue Wayer; his parents; one son; and one brother.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home of Paragould. There will be no funeral service.
