Opal Turner
DIERKS — Opal Turner, 83, of Dierks died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in her home. She was born May 13, 1920, in North Howard County. She was a nurse’s aide at Beverly Health Care, was a member of Holly Creek Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holly Creek Baptist Church in Dierks with burial at Harmony cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
She is survived by her husband, Elton; a daughter, Sue Fulcher of Fayetteville; three sons, Joe Turner of Dierks, Don Turner of DeQueen and Glen Turner of Fort Smith; a sister, Era Parker of Dierks; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund in Dierks, Ark.
Billy McGee Sr.
Billy E. McGee Sr., 59, of Fort Smith died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 6, 1944, in Fort Smith. He was a former supervisor for Flanders Manufacturing Co. and a member of Victory Christian Church.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Victory Christian Church with burial at Washington cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Evoynn; two daughters, Lorraine McGee of Columbia, S.C., and Yvonne McGee of Fort Smith; three sons, Nevers Price of Germany and Stanley and Billy McGee Jr., both of Fort Smith; two sisters, Gladys Williams and Lolita McGee, both of Fort Smith; four brothers, John and George Jr., both of Fort Smith, Clyde McGee of Detroit and Carl McGee of Kississmee, Fla.; and 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary and Wyatt Williams, Shoyn Jones, Dennis Barber, Jamel Paris and Kenneth Mobley.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mable Hill
WAGONER, Okla. — Mable I. Hill, 73, of Wagoner, Okla., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Wagoner. She was born April 12, 1930, in Shady Point. She was a high school home economics teacher and taught at Vian, Comanche, Ensign, Kan., Oliton and Hallett.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Oakland cemetery Pavilion in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by her husband, Buddy; a son, Ron Hill of Ada, Okla.; three sisters, Barbara Ennis of Cameron, Jewel Brice of Anaheim, Calif., and Sue Butler of Independence, Mo.; and a brother, Charles Willis of Melbourne, Fla.
Mildred Ivy
SPIRO — Mildred Louise Ivy, 80, of Spiro died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Spiro. She was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Short Mountain, Okla. She worked in the dietary department at Spiro Nursing Home, was a Baptist and the widow of George Ivy.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Cowlington cemetery south of Sallisaw under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
She is survived by two daughters, Verdice Coker of Keota and Margaret Riley of Tulsa; four sons, William Ivy of Craig, Colo., Melvin Ivy of Sallisaw, Dewayne Ivy of Spiro and Anthony Ivy of Cowlington; a sister, Vera Deshazo of Spiro; a brother, Earl Tate of Welton, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to noon today at the funeral home.
Harold Gaither
STIGLER — Harold Gaither, 81, of Stigler died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Stigler. He served in the Army, was a retired coal dealer and owner of G&C Rental Center in McAlester, Okla.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Stigler with burial at Stigler City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; a daughter, Vicki Mouser of Tulsa; three sons, Jack Clay of Topeka, Kan., Bill Clay of Norman, Okla., and Rick Gaither of McAlester, Okla.; two sisters, Jewell Careton of Morris, Okla. and Gladys Hoskins of Bonner Springs, Kan.; a brother, the Rev. Donald Gaither of Morris, Okla.; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve and Jeff Clay, Randy Mouser, Tim, Bradley and Hershel Phillips.

NASHOBA, Okla. — Steven Wynn “Chub” Harwood, 31, of Nashoba, Okla., died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003. He was born July 24, 1972, in Mena. He worked at Hatfield Lumber.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Brushy Baptist Church in Oden with burial at Brushy cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his mother and father, Linda and Frankie Creekmore; three sisters, Rhonda Young of Athens, Christy Malloy of Carter Cove, and Eugenia Golden of Nashoba; three brothers, Michael Harwood of Nashoba, Okla., Stephen Harwood of Antlers, Okla., and Brandon Cline of Honobia.

Raymon Pickens
WATSON, Okla. — Raymon Pickens, 88, of Watson, Okla. died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Mena. He was born March 3, 1915, in Cumby, Texas. He was an auto paint and body repair professional, was a charter member of Watson Community Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Watson cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Murble; a daughter, Virginia Pickens of Watson, Okla.; a son, Larry Pickens of Irving, Texas; and two brothers, Ragnol Pickens of Denison, Texas, and J.D. Pickens of Sherman, Texas.
Lauden Brooks
PARIS — Lauden “Lou” Brooks, 76, of Paris died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in her home. She was the widow of Omer Brooks.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Murry Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial at Oakhill cemetery in Booneville.
She is survived by three daughters, Teresa Sutter of Magazine, Holly Romero of Paris and Christy Curry of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, May Hayden of Redding, Calif.; a brother, Velmer Starr of Clinton Township, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Cleta Goddard
WALDRON — Cleta Mae Goddard, 78, of Waldron died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker, was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Sanger, Calif., and the widow of Clifton Goddard.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with burial at Bush cemetery in Waldron.
She is survived by four daughters, Donna Ono of Miliani, Hawaii, Patrice Goddard of Honolulu, Hawaii, Barbara Hulsey of Waldron, and Kerry Payne of Merced, Calif.; two sons, David Goddard of Abbott and Joel Goddard of Waldron; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Alice Crabtree
CLARKSVILLE — Alice Hirtler Crabtree, 79, of Clarksville died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Clarksville. She was born March 27, 1924, in Harlan County, Ky. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, a 31-year member of Girl Scouts of the USA, served on the Mount Magazine Council where she was awarded the “Thanks Badge”, the highest honor for volunteer adults, was active in Johnson County Democrat Party, and formerly employed as a home health aide.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Coal Hill cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard; a daughter, Sue Park of Clarksville; a sister, Polly Key of Lamar; two brothers, Arch Wheeler of Conway and Jack Hirtler of Louisiana; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
John Deaton Jr.
John Morgan Deaton Jr., 65, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in his home. He was born Oct. 9, 1938 in El Dorado. He was a professor of chemistry for 36 years at University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. He held a master’s degree in natural science with additional doctorate hours in graduate chemistry from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He founded an organization known as “Genesis One” and lectured in numerous schools, churches, and civic organizations. He taught a course “In The Beginning” at the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith and a teaching tour in Kenya and was also the author of “Science and Spirituality” and many other non fictional and fictional stories. He was a member of Grace Community Church.
Memorial service will be at University of Arkansas in Fort Smith at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Patti; a daughter, Tara Kauffman of Rogers; a son, John S. Deaton of Mechanicsville, Va.; two stepsons, Paul Humphrey of Fort Smith and Jacob Humphrey of Fayetteville; and seven grandchildren.

James Lindsey
FORT WORTH, Texas — James E.O. “Bill” Lindsey, 67, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Roland, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, in Fort Worth. He was born Jan. 2, 1936, in Roland. He was a retired mechanic, of the Church of Christ faith and was an Army veteran of the 
Korean War. He was a builder and pilot of planes and other aircraft.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roland City cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post No. 339 under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Roland.
He is survived by a daughter, Della Franklin of Fort Worth, Texas; three sisters, Melba Mayer of Georgia, Jenevia Corbit of Grapevine, Texas, and Nadine Baker of Bastrop, La.; three brothers, Jack and Richard Lindsey, both of Roland, and Dennis Lindsey of Fort Worth, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robert Just, Ray Sims, Adam and Brian Franklin, Matt King and Joe Lindsey.
The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

MILLTOWN — Sharron “Kathy” Cothran, 51, of Milltown died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a retired customer service manager at Wal-mart and a member of Midland First Assembly of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Midland First Assembly of God with burial at Cedar Grove cemetery in Boothe under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; a daughter, Amanda Cothran of the home; a son, Tim Cothran of Mansfield; her mother, Ruth Williams of Mansfield; two sisters, Violet Williams of Mansfield and Charlene Sudbury of Abbott; a brother, Dewey Williams of Huntington; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the men of Midland First Assembly of God.

EXCELSIOR — Lena Ledbetter, 89, of Excelsior died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003 in her home. She was a homemaker and the widow of Noble Ledbetter.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Evans cemetery in Excelsior.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Burris of Gainesville, Texas; a son, Jim Ledbetter of Excelsior; a brother, Kenneth Ratliff of Tulsa; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.

MANSFIELD — Michael Niblett, 48, of Mansfield died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Fort Smith hospital. He was a retired mechanic and a member of Mansfield First Assembly of God.

He is survived by his mother, Ida Niblett of Mansfield; a sister, Mary Elmore of Cookson, Okla.; and two brothers, Russell and Donald Niblett, both of Huntington.

GREENWOOD — John S. Parker Jr., 77, of Greenwood died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in his home. He was a retired truck driver and served in the Army during World War II, and the widower of Edna Parker.

He is survived by two sons, John Parker of Kansas City, Mo., and Jimmy Parker of Lathrop, Mo.; three brothers, Ray and Bill Parker, both of Greenwood, and Darrell Parker of Glenelder, Kan.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
