Judie Beckman
BARLING — Judie Ann Beckman, 60, of Barling, formerly of Van Buren, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in her home. She received her master’s degree from Oklahoma State University and was formerly a counselor a University of Arkansas at Fort Smith and Bill Willis Mental Institute in Sallisaw.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, William; two sons, Todd Young of Van Buren and Doug Young of Ozark; two stepdaughters, Lisa Taylor of Morrison, Colo., and Sara Bassard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters Sandi Herrera of Tucson, Ariz., and Cheryl Edgemon of Yukon, Okla.; a brother, Jerry Hughes of Little Rock; three grandchildren; and eight stepgrandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruth Knox
Ruth Hawthorne Knox, 81, of Fort Smith died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in Waldron. She was a retired office supervisor for Sears, a member of Fianna Hills Baptist Church, the Good Neighbors Club, and the widow of Robert Knox.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by a brother, Billy Hawthorne of Mansfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fianna Hills Baptist Church, 10300 Jenny Lind Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72903; or Donald W. Reynolds Cancer Support House, 3324 S. M St., Fort Smith, AR 72903.

Rupert Summers
Rupert A. Summers, 68, of Van Buren died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in a local nursing home. He was a Marine veteran, a truck driver and was retired from Whirlpool, and was a ham radio operator.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; two daughters, Deborah Ruth of Van Buren and Ova Figuora of Pine Bluff; two sons, Wilburn Summers of Mulberry and Marlon Poole of Paducah, Ky.; two sisters, Mary Goodermote of Herrin, Ill., and Norma Albright of Marion, Ill.; two brothers, Robert Summers of East Prairie, Mo., and Artelle Summers of Cairo, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris and Randy Ruth, Daniel, Donald and Donnie Quick and Marte Flores.

Bill Wiley
Bill Wiley, 77, of Fort Smith died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in his home. He was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a retired employee of Rheem Manufacturing Co., a World War II veteran of Merchant Marines and a former member of the Air National Guard; he was of the Assembly of God faith and the widower of Dale Wiley. Preceded in death by one daughter, Willa Lincks.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Wright cemetery in Subiaco under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Baxter of Rogers and Joyce and husband Joe Marley of Alma; a son-in-law, Fred Lincks of Mountainburg; a sister, Darlene Bond of New York; a brother, Deanie Wiley of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Ashley Baxter, Elizabeth Baxter, Amy McPartland, Ben Marley, Kaitlyn Marley, Lisa “Gavin” Owens and Amy Nguyen; and five great-grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Paige Nguyen, Cade Morris, Alex McPartland and Sadie McPartland.

Mr. T.J. “Tom” Corbitt
Mr. T.J. “Tom” Corbitt, age 94, of Calhoun, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Corbitt was born in Winnsboro, Texas, on June 17, 1910, a son of the late Henry Houston Corbitt and Rosa Della Bailey Corbitt. He was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church in Calhoun and was a retired carpenter, and he had resided in Calhoun for the past 11 years.
Survivors include four sons, Thomas James Corbitt and his wife, Viola, of Winnsboro, Texas, George Corbitt and his wife, Catherine, of Riverside, Calif., Don Corbitt and his wife, Pat, of Booneville, and Arnold Dean Corbitt of Dallas; one daughter, Jane Coffey and her husband, Jim, of Calhoun; three sisters, Ollie Sales of Kansas, Montez Bertram of Hobbs, N.M.; and Dorothy Terry of Brownfield, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside and interment services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Chandler cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Thomas Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements for Mr. T.J. “Tom” Corbitt.

Alice Elizabeth Robins
Alice Elizabeth Robins, 63, of Magazine was born Jan. 21, 1941, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at her home near Magazine. She was a Christian, a homemaker, a wife, mother and grandmother and a registered nurse.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Liberty cemetery near Magazine under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
Survivors include her husband, Thomis D. Robins of the home near Magazine; a daughter, Carey Beth Rogers of Magazine; a son, Joseph Edmond Rogers; five grandchildren, Brittany, Jacob, Jessica, Jennifer and Jordan.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Kirbo, Jay Kirbo, Nathan Nixon, Tim Nixon, Lennie Graham, Carl Trippett, Dani Humphrey and Andy Graham.

Wesley L. Horn
Wesley L. Horn, 57, of Fort Smith passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in Oklahoma City. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a car salesman and an Army veteran of the Vietname War.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at U.S. National cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; two daughters, Casey Chastain and husband Nick of Fort Smith and Tracy Folks and her husband, Chris, of Greenwood; one son, Waylon Horn and wife Dottie of Fort Smith; one sister, Charlotte Powell and her husband, Rex, of Bridgeport, Texas; brother, Manuel Horn of Van Buren; three grandchildren, Ryan Horn, Jacob Horn, and Austin Chastain.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Horn, Russell Horn, Chris Folks, Nick Chastain, Steve Horn and DeWayne Crouch.
Family will greet friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.

Charlie Bittick
Charlie Bittick, age 54, of Fort Smith passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in Fort Smith. He worked for KPOM Television in Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dorothy Bittick; an one daughter, Monica Dugger.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at Forest Park cemetery under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; two daughters, Emily Bittick of Haskell, Okla., and Carmen Webb of Fort Smith; and seven grandchildren, Rachel and Justin Dugger, Britany Wilson, Caleb Hayes, Kelsey, Jacob, and Grant Webb.
Visitation with the family will follow the service at the funeral home.

Ronald D. Taber
Ronald D. Taber, 65, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, in Fort Smith. He was a retired quality engineer for the Whirlpool Corp. after 37 years of service, and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Whirlpool Management Club.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Taber of the home; a daughter, Lana and her husband, Gary Hunt, of Fort Smith; a son, Brent Taber of Fort Smith; a sister, June Douglas of Fort Smith; a brother, James Taber of Fort Smith; along with two grandchildren, Taber and Jensen Hunt.
Rosary will be Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, and Mass will be Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tony Taber, Mark Douglas, John Means, David McSpadden, Larry Schwartz and Tom Cravens. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Eoff, friends from the Whirlpool Corp., and anyone who loves golf.

Billy Gene Mattox
Billy Gene Mattox. 73, of Alma died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in a local hospital. He was a member of the White Oak Presbyterian Church and the Alma Lion’s Club; he also volunteered with the Alma Fire Department and retired from Contel Telephone Co. as a supervisor. Preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Velma Mattox.
Graveside service was held Monday at Highland cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne “Wells” Mattox of the home; two daughters, Jan Owens of Alma and Fran Hill and her husband, Harold, of Alma; three sisters, Jerry Payne of Van Buren, Betty Cagle of Ozark, and Pat Price of Branch; five grandchildren, Yvonne Nicole Palmer of West Fork, Leanna Danielle Hill and Genia Dyer, both of Alma, Kara Lindley of Van Buren, and Darrell Hill of Indianapolis; and one great-grandchild, Ashley Breanne Palmer of West Fork.

Eva Dean Corbell
Eva Dean Corbell, 51, of Springdale died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, in a Springdale hospital. She was a machine operator at Mead Container in Fort Smith, a member of the United Paper Workers Union and was a Methodist. She is preceded in death by her father, Leland Harper; and a niece, Amanda Stewart.
She is survived by her husband, Bill of the home; her mother, Willadean Harper of Sikeston, Mo.; five sisters, Linda Bagwell of Collierville, Tenn., Pat Hosey of Atoka, Tenn., Debbie Stewart, Barbara Yancy, and Mary Calhoun, all three of Sikeston, Mo.; five brothers, Butch Harper of Bertrand, Mo., Jimmy Harper of Charleston, Mo., Bobby and Billy Harper, both of Sikeston, Mo., Ricky Harper of Benton, Mo.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
Pallbearers will be Paul and Justin Harper, Mark Curtis, John Hosey, Brian and Leland Corbell.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Lela Cooper
ROLAND — Lela M. Cooper, 91, of Roland, formerly of Seminole, Okla., died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in Roland. She was born March 10, 1913, in Lumberton, Miss. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, a former member of Eastern Star and the widow of Malcolm Cooper.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church Chapel with burial at Maple Grove cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
She is survived by three daughters, Nelda Blaylock of Muldrow, Sandra Glen of Sulphur, Okla., and Ardath Strobel of Scranton; two sons, Jim Cooper of Gans and Malcolm Cooper of Lumberton, Miss.; two sisters, Ann Chambers and Helen Reynolds; a brother, W.E. Howard; three halfsisters, Lois Hoffer, Violet Bridges, and Lula Carpenter; three halfbrothers, Walter Howard Jr., and Harvey and Q.C. Howard; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Lee Wade, Jarrod Armer, Bobby, Gerald, and Michael Strobel and Doug Cooper.
