MANSFIELD — Tom Perkins, 89, of Mansfield died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a farmer.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Martin Funeral Home Chapel of Mansfield with burial at Coop Prairie cemetery in Mansfield.
He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Kohlar of Modesto, Calif.; two sons, Thomas of California and Roy Frank of Little Rock; a sister, Marjorie Rice of Waldron; a brother, Ray Felle of Mansfield; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Elzie Barnett, Buel Perkins, Floyd Coward, Bruce Hainley, Dewayne Hope and Donald Williams.
The body may be viewed 3 to 8:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.
Randy Mendoza
LITTLE ROCK — Randy Mendoza, 43, of Little Rock, formerly of Fort Smith, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in Little Rock. He was a truck driver for Eagle Trucking Company in Little Rock.
Services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
He is survived by a companion, Barbara Canada of Little Rock; two daughters, Miranda Mendoza of the home and Billie Jean Jones of Van Buren; three sisters, Melinda Mendoza of Fort Smith, LaDonna Weir of El Reno, Okla., and Delia Riggs of Spiro; six brothers, Frank, Cleve, Billy and Wayne Mendoza, all of Spiro, Tony Riggs of Hennessey, Okla., and Craig Riggs of Blytheville; and one granddaughter.
David Highfield
David Highfield, age 63, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2005. He was born in Charleston and moved to Crestview in 2004 from Oxnard, Calif. Mr. Highfield worked for the Navy Civil Service as a computer specialist. He was a 22-year veteran of the Navy and a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fleet Reserve Association and Fraternal Order of Eagles. David is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Oral Highfield; brothers, Victor Paul Highfield and Marvin Cletus Highfield; and sisters, Doris Mee and Freda Copeland. He was a loving husband and father who is survived by his wife, Joyce Highfield of Crestview; sons, James D. Highfield of Wichita, Kan., and Brandon R. Highfield of Oxnard, Calif.; daughters, Tamara Delisle of San Diego and Kristen Highfield of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters, Opal Skoro of Hackett and Ruth Yother of Eduora, Kan.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 14, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
Giles Drew Gallaher Jr.
Giles Drew Gallaher Jr., 51, of Fayetteville, found his way to God’s celestial house on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Washington Regional Medical Center and was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord in heaven above.
He was born July 1, 1953, in Detroit, the son of Giles Drew Gallaher Sr. and Wanda Lee Gallaher.
Over a period of 18 years, he was employed by Baldwin Piano and Organ and Ayrshire Electronics as a senior project engineer. He enjoyed his work greatly and loved all of the people with whom he worked.
He was a member of First Christian Church (DOC) in Fayetteville, and was director of the Chancel Handbell Choir and the sound engineer for the church, including the church’s Contemporary Service Praise Band. He also served as elder, treasurer and bookkeeper.
Those who remain behind include his beloved wife, Sheri Brown Gallaher; loving daughter, Lyndsay Elizabeth Gallaher; brother, James W. Gallaher and his wife Diane of Fort Smith; mother-in-law, Johnnie Brown; brothers-in-law, Frank Brown and his wife Lynn and John Brown and his wife Beth; and godparents to Lyndsay, Tim and Patricia Stinnett.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at First Christian Church (DOC), 220 N. College Ave., next to the courthouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First Christian Church, 220 N. College Ave., Fayetteville, AR 72701.

Bill J. Bridges
Bill J. Bridges, 75, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, March 16, 2005. He was born Sept. 15, 1929, was employed by Western Outdoor Advertising and was general manager for Donrey Outdoor Advertising for 18 years, retiring from the corporation in 1986. He was a veteran of the Naval Reserve, a member of Black Diamond Lodge No. 549 F&AM, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Scottish Rite, the Fort Smith Southside Lion’s Club and the Fort Smith Rotary, and a member of the Living Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Lynn Shoptaw.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19 at the Living Faith Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Steep Hill cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Survivors are his wife, Ramona Bridges of the home; one son, Steve Bridges of Greenwood; three sisters, Esther Dolan of Fort Smith, Betty Lennier of Van Buren, and Mary Pollack of Bonanza; two brothers, Carl Bridges of Greenwood and Bob Bridges of Bonanza; five grandchildren, Ivy Howard of Bella Vista, Story Rush, Clay Davis, and Josh Davis of Greenwood, and Chelsea Shoptaw of Alma; and one great-grandchild, Rowdy Paul Rush of Greenwood.
Viewing will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Chris Howard, Gene Herdison, Bill Fant, Clay Davis, Brian Rush and Josh Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Mantooth, Doyle Williams, Terry Shoptaw, Ken Bell, David Cordell and Bob Caperton.

Weldon Buras
MENA — Weldon Buras, 72, of Mena died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in Talihina. He was born Nov. 16, 1931, in Baton Rouge, La. He was a geologist, a member of the Masons, and the widower of Tressie Buras.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Ouachita cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by two daughters, Shetresa Saurage of Sour Lake, Texas, and Darla Stuart of Mena; three sisters, Yvonne Rabalais and Rita Burns, both of Houston, and Mary McMullen of Woodlands, Texas; two brothers, Carl Buras of LaPlace, La., and Dwight Buras of Henderson, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Loy Miller
LAMAR — Loy Dean Miller, 73, of Lamar died Thursday, March 17, 2005, in Clarksville. He was a truck driver for Johnson County, and a veteran of the Korean War.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Holman cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Judy Norwood of Lamar; a son, Terry Miller of Knoxville; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad and Bo Miller, Clint Ratliff, Leon Bachus, Loyd and Norman Reynolds.
The body may be viewed from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Sammy Coats
CLARKSVILLE — Sammy G. Coats, 71, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 17, 2005, in Clarksville. He was born March 30, 1933, in Arkansas City, Kan. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church, a graduate of Pryor (Okla.) High School, a retired Army master sergeant, a former owner of a country store, a bus driver and freight delivery owner.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today at Woodland Baptist Church under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
He is survived by his wife, Mona; a daughter, Sharon Donahey of Odessa, Texas; three sisters, Jerri Martin and Linda Muller, both of Dell City, Okla., and Sue Guadagno of Moore, Okla.; a brothers, Bill Coats of Moore, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends after the memorial service at the church Fellowship Hall.

MULBERRY — Elizabeth Jackson, 97, of Mulberry died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church in Mulberry, and the widow of Raymond Jackson.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Mulberry with burial at Hight cemetery near Mulberry under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by a daughter, Saundra Moon of Mulberry; a son, Ray Jackson of Mulberry; a sister, Armitta Jones of Mulberry; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Kim Douglas
Kim Douglas, 46, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in Fort Smith. She was an artist.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; a daughter, McKenzie Douglas of the home; a son, Caleb Douglas of Fort Smith; her parents, Ned and Sydney Harper of Fort Smith; a sister, Mandee Heim of Fort Smith; and a brother, Bert Harper of Fort Smith.

Agnes Callahan
MENA — Agnes B. Callahan, 84, of Mena died Thursday, March 17, 2005, in Mena. She was born Nov. 5, 1922, in Montrose, Colo. She was a homemaker, a member of First United Methodist Church of Hatfield, a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary of Victor, Iowa, and the widow of Graeme Kenyon and James Callahan.
The body was sent for cremation under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Hatfield.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Walker of Hatfield; a son, Donald Kenyon of Mena; a stepson, Jimmy Callahan of New York City; a sister, Josephine Herman of Hatfield; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

PRAIRIE GROVE — Arvin “Tude” William Dobbs, 82, of Cove Creek community near Prairie Grove died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in Fayetteville. He was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Odell. He was a member of Cove Creek Holiness Church where he served as deacon and honorary board member, and was a farmer and a mechanic.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cove Creek Holiness Church south of Prairie Grove with burial at Prairie Grove cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes; a daughter, Betty Franklin of Cedarville; two sons, Bruce and Bobby Dobbs, both of Prairie Grove; a sister, Geneva Collins of Cane Hill; four brothers, George Dobbs of Washington, Marvin, Mitchell and Ray Dobbs, all of Prairie Grove; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bill, Dusty and Rocky Franklin, William, Keith, J.R., Brent and Brendon Dobbs.

GREENWOOD — Mary Catherine Neal, 75, of Greenwood died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of North Carrollton Baptist Church in Mississippi.
