Ervin Christopher Adkins
Ervin Christopher Adkins, 76, of Van Buren died Saturday, March 12, 2005, in local hospital. He was retired from Garrison Furniture, an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Van Buren. He is preceded in death by both parents, Charles and Nannie Weaver Adkins; and one brother, Odell Adkins.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Gill cemetery Arbor with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
He is survived by a sister, Margie Johnson of Van Buren; six brothers, Charles Adkins Jr. and Benny Adkins, both of Van Buren, Donald Adkins of Spiro, Jim Adkins of Broken Arrow, Okla., Eddie Adkins of Natural Dam, and Bill Adkins of Fort Smith.
Robert Suggs Jr.
PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — Robert Staunton Suggs Jr. of Prairie Village died Friday, March 4, 2005. He was born Aug. 18, 1914, in Fort Smith. He was salesman, a member of Brookridge Country Club and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a decorated Marine veteran of World War II, was in several battles in the Pacific Theater, and was the widower of Jayne Suggs.
A celebration of life was held March 7 at D.W. Newcomer’s Johnson County Chapel in Overland Park, Kan.
He is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Gutensohn of Fort Smith and Bettye Beavers of Anderson, Mo.; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Ivan Purvis
MENA — Ivan Dale Purvis, 84, of Mena died Sunday, March 13, 2005, in Mena. He was born Feb. 14, 1921, in Bible Grove, Mo. He retired from Adolf Coors Co., attended Faith Missionary Baptist Church, was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge, and was the widower of Frances Purvis.
The body was sent for cremation under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Fern; a daughter, Marilee Hart of Lakewood, Colo.; two sons, Lawrence Purvis of Billings, Mont. and Dennis Purvis of Florence, Colo.; four sisters, Maurietta Williams of Columbia, Mo., Elsie Purvis of Middleton, Wis., Miriam Lee and Ruth Manatt, both of Olathe, Kan.; three brothers, Keith Purvis of El Segundo, Calif., Kenneth Purvis of Blue Springs, Mo., and Ron Purvis of Jenks, Okla.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Missionary Baptist Church or the Elks National Foundation.
Pennie Holt
CLARKSVILLE — Pennie Diane Holt, 46, of Clarksville died Monday, March 14, 2005, in her home. She was a factory worker for Sara Lee.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Lamar cemetery in Lamar.
She is survived by her husband, Randy; a son, Billy Cast of Lake Jackson, Texas; stepdaughters, Amy Howell of Coal Hill and Kerri and Vanessa Holt of Clarksville; her parents, John and Barbara Wilson of Portland, Texas; a sister, Patty Barclay of Portland, Texas; a brother, Craig Wilson of Portland, Texas; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Jarrad and James Callahan, Kenneth Kennedy, Roger Holman, Eugene Hill and Mike Holt.
William Parker
MULBERRY — William Hoyt Edward Parker, 30, of Mulberry died Monday, March 14, 2005, in a local hospital. He was born June 13, 1974, in Van Buren. He was a member of Graphic New Hope Baptist Church and a former employee of Allen Canning Co.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pope cemetery Arbor in Mountainburg under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
He is survived by a companion, Mary Swafford of Clarksville; a daughter, Ashlynn Parker of Washington; three sisters, Alicia Williams of Mulberry, Holly Parker and Julie Reese, both of Fort Smith; three brothers, Shelden Parker of Mulberry, Randell Parker and Daniel Reese, both of Missouri; and maternal grandmother, Florence Chandler of Rudy.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Chandler, Raymond, Roy and Troy Parker, John Taylor and Terrece Partmenter.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Delbert Webb
MENA — Delbert “Budd” Eugene Webb, 72, of Mena died Monday, March 14, 2005. He was born July 21, 1932, in Bokhoma, Okla. He was a retired Air Force veteran serving in Korea in communications, owned and operated B & L Satellite in Mena, and was a member of the Masons, Eastern Star and the White Oak Hunting Club.
The body will be cremated under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; three daughters, Peggy Webb of Alaska, Kathy Sathie of Bowles, and Tracy Nelson of Waldron; four sons, Jim Webb of Mena, Mike Webb of Texas, Dan Webb of Virginia, and Ron Nelson of Alaska; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Maggie Woodard
CLARKSVILLE — Maggie Sarah Woodard, 83, of Clarksville died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in Clarksville. She attended Jamestown Assembly of God and was the widow of Ward Woodard.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Carter cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Anna Williams of Clarksville; a son, Ward Woodard Jr. of Sallisaw; a sister, Ada Ezell of CoCo Beach, Fla.; a brother, Maynard Berry of Cincinnati; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

MOUNTAINBURG — Jennifer Sue Davis, 38, of Mountainburg died Saturday, March 12, 2005, in Mountainburg. She was born July 30, 1966, in Fort Smith. She was an employee of Arkansas State Highway Department and attended Graphic New Hope Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Pope cemetery in the Graphic community.
She is survived by three daughters, Leslie Stewart of the home, Cassie and Whitney Stewart, both of Kilgore, Texas; her mother, Sondra Tompos of Mulberry; her father, E.R. Griffin of Lake Shepard Springs; and a brother, Randy Sabin of Uniontown.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Bessie McFadden
RUDY — Bessie Louise McFadden, 77, of Rudy died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker, a former employee of Haven of Rest and Brownwood Manor Nursing Home, and a chapter member and co-founder of Victory Temple Pentecostal Church of God.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Morrison cemetery near Rudy.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. S.A. McFadden; four daughters, Judy Darden, Sandra Dyer and Elizabeth Stallings, all of Rudy, and Gaylia Richardson of Alma; a sister, Algie Smith of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Matthew and Zachary Darden, Chris and Sam Dyer, Jason and Joshua Stallings and Sean Richardson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Arkansas District Pentecostal Women’s Ministry and of Victory Temple Pentecostal Church of God.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Alma Meade
Alma Meade, 75, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in Fort Smith.
Funeral services will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.

David Highfield
David Highfield, age 63, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2005. He was born in Charleston and moved here in 2004 from Oxnard, Calif. Mr. Highfield worked for the Navy Civil Service as a computer specialist. He was a 22-year veteran of the Navy and a member of the American Legion, VFW, Fleet Reserve Association and Fraternal Order of Eagles. David is preceded in death by his parents, Victor Paul Highfield and Marvin Cletus Highfield; and sisters, Doris Mee and Freda Copeland. He was a loving husband and father who is survived by: his wife, Joyce Highfield of Crestview; sons, James D. Highfield of Wichita, Kan., and Brandon R. Highfield of Oxnard, Calif.; daughters, Tamara Delisle of San Diego and Kristen Highfield of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters, Opal Skoro of Hackett and Ruth Yother of Eduora, Kan.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 14, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial to follow at 11 a.m. at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
Mary Lou Willey
Mary Lou Willey, 69, of Pittsburg, Kan., died 8:15 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, in the emergency room at Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg after a sudden illness.
She was born July 18, 1935, in Beulah Kan., a daughter of Bannor and Eva Wilson Linville. She grew up in the Beulah area and graduated from Girard High School in 1952. She received her master’s degree in psychology from P.S.U.
She married
Robert Earl Willey Sr. on May 23, 1954, at Girard. He survives of Pittsburg. They lived in Germany, Alaska and California before returning to Beulah in 1980. They moved to Arkansas in 1987, and returned to Pittsburg in November of 2004.
The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2004.
She enjoyed yoga and she was pianist and played at the Beverly Nursing Center in Pittsburg.
Survivors in addition to her husband, Robert E. Willey Sr. of Pittsburg: one daughter, Heidi Willey of Alma; two sons, Robert E. Willey Jr. of Georgia and David Willey of San Diego; four grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Swanson of Tampa, Fla., and Helen Jones of La Jara, Colo.; one brother, Delbert Linville of Ambridge, Pa.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Jay Willey, on March 17, 1978,
Graveside services for Mary Lou Willey will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Girard cemetery with the Rev. Darrell Biggs officiating.

Edward Paul Mullen
Edward Paul Mullen, 60, of Fort Smith passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005, in his home. He was employed by Quick Transports, an Air Force veteran, and he loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was born May 23, 1944, in Fort Smith to Reed and Mollie Wood Mullen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Mullen of the home; one son, Greg Thompson of Fort Smith; one daughter, Jessica Sims of Alma; two brothers, William Mullen of Spur Lake and Jim Mullen of Fort Smith; four sisters, Mary Dyer of Terre Haute, Ind., Betty Oliver of Mandeville, La., Ruth Bieber of Dardanelle and Emma Scott of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Timothy, McKenzie, Alexandria and Madison; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Cunningham, Jerry Phillips, Mike Knittig, Duke Clement, Harl Schoeppe and Johnny Grizzle.

Dorothy Summers
Dorothy Summers, age 82, of Barling died Friday, March 11, 2005, in Barling. Dorothy was born in Little Rock and was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary High School and worked as a legal secretary in Little Rock and Hot Springs. She retired to Barling in 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hayes Richard and Abigail Summers; two sisters, Delta Summers and Sister Mary Del Rey; three brothers, James Orville Summers, Charles B. Summers and Hayes Vernon Summers.
Rosary service will be 6 p.m. today at McAuley Convent Chapel; funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at McAuley Convent Chapel. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at Calvary cemetery in Little Rock under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
Dorothy is survived by her sister-in-law, Irene Summers of Dale City, Va., and several nieces and nephews.
