Eugene Chrisman
WALDRON — Eugene Chrisman, 69, of Waldron died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in a Waldron hospital. He was a retired timber contractor, a member of the Scott County Wolf and Fox Hunters Association and attended Friendship Pentecostal Church.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Friendship Pentecostal Church with burial at Lamb cemetery near Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; a son, Gary Chrisman of Waldron; a sister, Linda Stafford of Fort Smith; three brothers, Bob and Bill Chrisman, both of Waldron, and Freddy Chrisman of Greenwood; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robert, Tom and Verdell Wagner, James Vaughn, J.D. Brothers and Ronnie Powell.
The body may be viewed from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Charlene Dewey
MENA — Charlene Dewey, 61, of Mena, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in her home. She was born Jan. 31, 1943, in San Francisco. She was a service manager for a Chevrolet dealership.
The body will be cremated under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; two daughters, Candi Bell of Mena and June Brewer of Fort Bragg, N.C.; two brothers, Robert and Thomas Rengstorff; and five grandchildren.
Lillie Paslay
ODEN — Lillie Mae Paslay, 89, of Oden died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, in an area hospital. She was born Sept. 24, 1915, in Benton, Ky. She lived in Oden since 1984. She was a homemaker and a member of Pencil Bluff Church of Christ and was involved with Meals on Wheels. She was the widow of Herman Paslay.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Pencil Bluff Church of Christ with burial at Pine Ridge cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
She is survived by a son, Hanan Paslay of Oden; three daughters, Lola Neeley of Loma Rica, Calif., Ina Bennight of Frederick, Okla., and Ruby Lindsay of Marysville, Calif.; a sister, Pearl Hamby of Mount Carmel, Ill.; a brother, George Stephens of Modesto, Calif.; and 20 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pencil Bluff Church of Christ.
John Jones
John Allen Jones, 73, of Charleston died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in Charleston. He was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Charleston. He was a retired roofer.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Nixon cemetery in Charleston under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived by a daughter, Rita Gramlich of Charleston; three sons, John David Jones of Greenwood and Dennis and Billy Jones, both of Lavaca; two sisters, Alta Billinger of Sand Springs, Okla., and Ella Newton of Oklahoma; five brothers, George Jones of Stockton, Calif., James and Loyal Jones, both of Lavaca, Homer Jones of Sand Springs and Billy Jones of Mary Ester, Fla.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Julia Dallas
LITTLE ROCK — Julia Rohtert Dallas, 75, of Little Rock died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in a Little Rock hospital. She was born May 12, 1929, in Memphis. She was a member of Catholic Business Women, LaModerne (past president), Our Lady of Good Counsel Altar Society (past president), Eucharistic Ministers; Home School Society (past president) and St. Vincent Infirmary Auxiliary. She was also a lifetime member of the Little Rock Jaycettes (past president) and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Memphis. She was a 1947 graduate of St. Agnes Academy in Memphis and a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Little Rock since 1956.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Little Rock. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church under the direction of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home of Little Rock.
She is survived by her husband, John; three daughters, Jeanenne Lynn of St. Louis, Janie Koesy of North Little Rock and Leona Cardenas of Fort Smith; two sons, John Dallas Jr. of Fort Smith and Jim Dallas of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Don “Butch” Seamans
Don “Butch” Seamans, affectionately known as “Pop,” was born Jan. 30, 1945, in Greenwood to Joe and Virginia Seamans and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004.
He was a retired driver of U.S. Foods and a U.S. Army veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Floyd “Gopher” Seamans; two sisters, Barbara Pellham and Leatha Bonner; and one son, Joe Allan Seamans.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 1/2 years, Linda Seamans; one son, Michael Seamans and companion, Debbie Arrington of Greenwood; one daughter, Michelle Seamans of the home; two grandchildren, Meagan Shelby of Portland, Ore., and Mikey Joe Seamans of Hackett; four sisters, Gail Sandifer, Linda Kay McGahan, both of Greenwood, Tina Vincent and Becky Sue Howell of Rye Hill; two brothers, Danny Joe Seamans of Greenwood and Doyle Seamans of Magazine; six nieces and nephews; two special friends, Barbara Christy of Oklahoma City and Clifford Cheesman of Greenwood; and many friends who loved him.
A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood.
LaVerna Winborn
LaVerna Winborn, 87, of Alma entered into rest, Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1917, in Alma, the daughter of the late William and Emily Basham. She was a former employee of Alma Day Care Center, a member of New Heights Baptist Church and the widow of the late Monroe Winborn and was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Norman Melton. Survivors include one son, Dwight Winborn of Buena Vista, Colo.; daughter, Louise Melton of Springdale; grandsons, Monroe, Hopkins and G.W. Winborn, all of Dallas; granddaughter, Kerry Melton of Springdale; three great-grandchildren, Victoria and Hayden Winborn and Jaylen Melton. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at New Heights Baptist Church in Alma with burial at Evergreen cemetery in Alma. Pallbearers will be Monroe, Hopkins, Kerry and G.W. Winborn, Carl Valentine and Roger Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul and James Winborn, Jim Byars, Sam Wilkerson and Terrell Morrell. Marie Pierce
Marie Pierce, 86, of Marrero, La., formerly of Van Buren, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, in Marrero. She was a retired employee of St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Van Buren; she held office with Fidelity Chapter No. 86 of the Order of Eastern Star in Van Buren, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Olive Branch Shrine No. 3 in Fort Smith and the Order of the Amaranth.
She is survived by three children, J.C. Pierce III of Waco, Texas, Mary R. Klink of Marrero, La., and A.L. “Bud” Pierce of Sandy, Utah; one sister, Edna B. James of McCleary, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Pierce Jr.
Graveside services were held Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at the U.S. National cemetery of Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Depp Meadors
Depp Meadors, 81, of Mountainburg died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, in her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mountainburg, a retired employee of Dixie Cup and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.D. Meadors. She was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Kentucky.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Ocker Chapel in Alma with burial at Vaught cemetery in Mountainburg under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
She is survived by a son, John Meadors and his wife, Margaret, of Mountainburg; a sister-in-law, Anita Osburn of Mountainburg; two grandchildren, Donny and Danny Meadors, both of Mountainburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John Meadors, Donny Meadors, Doyle Osburn, Dobbin Osburn, Chase Osburn and Dale McDaniel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Blendon Berry, Glenn Brandenburg, Tom Fight, Roger Greer, Everett Parker, Bud Parks, Dan Prier, Weldon Ramey, Scott Richardson and Eugene Shepherd.
Alta Hunnicutt
LAMAR— Alta Naomi Hunnicutt, 89, of Lamar died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, in a Johnson County hospital. She was retired from a boat factory, was of the Methodist faith and the widow of Lawrence Hunnicutt.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville with burial at Lamar cemetery.
She is survived by two brothers, Willard Burton and Joe Burton, both of Knoxville.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m.. Sunday at the funeral home.
Hannah Jones
Hannah Elizabeth Jones, 12, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, in Fort Smith.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oak cemetery.
She is survived by her parents, Chad and Kristi Jones of Fort Smith; and her paternal grandmother, Leilani Jones of Ponca City, Okla.

Beulah Hicks
WALDRON — Beulah Mae Hicks, 80, of Waldron died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, in a Waldron hospital. She was a housekeeping supervisor at Mercy Hospital, attended Jubilee Church and was the widow of James Hicks.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Jubilee Church with burial at Pilot Prairie cemetery in Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
She is survived by three daughters, Patsy Goff of Bastrop, Texas, Dottie Blackmon and Brenda Mock, both of Waldron; two sons, James and Phillip Hicks, both of Waldron; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Goff, Tony and Robert Blackmon, Daniel Mock, Brandon Jones and Tommy Franklin.
The body may be viewed from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Christina Koontz
Christina Mae Koontz, 74, of Fort Smith died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in Fort Smith. She was born Jan. 21, 1930, in Topeka, Kan. She was a waitress.
No services are planned; her body will be donated to medical science.
She is survived by her husband, Seth; two daughters, Linda Scheer of Marietta, Ga., and Kay Short of Kissimmee, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
