Harold Loyd Beller
Harold Loyd Beller, 73, of Walnut Ridge, died April 4, 2004, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born near Hoxie, he lived in the Hoxie and Walnut Ridge area all of his life. He was a retired carpenter for Morgan Building Co., and was a member of the Free Street Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulyess and Lula Beller; three brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Tate Beller; two sons, Dwayne Beller, Walnut Ridge, and Richard Beller, Bono; a daughter, Sandra Galbreath, Walnut Ridge; and four grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the House-Gregg chapel with Ken Young officiating. Private burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Ralph Earl Crain Sr.
Ralph Earl Crain Sr., 61, of Jonesboro, died April 5, 2004, at his home.

Born at Ravenden, he lived in Lawrence County in early life. He was a Navy veteran who served in Vietnam and was retired from Quebecor World Press as a tool and die maker. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and Jonesboro Masonic Lodge No. 129.

He was a member and past state president of the Arkansas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Miller Crain; two sons, Ralph Earl Crain Jr., and Brian Scott Crain, both of Jonesboro; his parents, Cleatus and Mary Crain, Jonesboro; a brother, Gaylon Crain, Jonesboro; a sister, Cleata Daniel, Jonesboro; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Crain and Kaylee Crain.

Funeral is today at 10 a.m. in the Mitchell Funeral Home chapel with Barry Crain and Jerry Jolly officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Heights cemetery at Rector under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Paragould.

Pallbearers will be Randall Miller, Mike Miller, Clovis Reddick, Rudy Randleman, Jimmy Huckabay and James Daniel.

Memorials may be made to St. Bernards Hospice.

Carl Eulius Dowdy
Carl Eulius Dowdy, 76, of Hoxie, formerly of Trumann, died March 30, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born in Hartford, Iowa, he was retired from General Motors and was a World War II Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, June Annetta Mae Goodwin Dowdy; a sister; and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Copeland Dowdy; three daughters, Carla Ann Harp, Corning, Evelyn Jean Mace, Doniphan, Mo., and Beverly Anita Dowdy, San Antonio; two sons, Michael Dale Dowdy, Kentwood, Mich., and William Keith Dowdy, Reyno; six stepchildren; a sister, Helen Inez Calkin, Jonesboro; three brothers, Glen William Dowdy, Tomball, Texas, Richard Lowell Dowdy, Kansas City, Mo., and Gary Neal Dowdy, California; 32 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann with Rev. Donald Lewart officiating. Burial was in Nettleton cemetery.

Pallbearers were Johnny Matthew Gaines, Michael Joseph Cherven, Terry Scott Mace, William Cody Dowdy, Christopher Anthony Bland, Charles Adam Bland and Craig Alexander Bland. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Calkin, Jonathan Wesley Watkins, William Clarence "Butch" Watkins and Jerry D. Ward.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Louis Huskey
Louis Huskey, 88, of Campbell, Mo., died April 3, 2004, at Walnut Ridge Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 16, 1915, at Swifton, he was the son of Quantrell and Myrtle Bettis Huskey. He was of the Assembly of God faith and was a retired farm laborer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Haynes Huskey, on May 3, 1998, whom he married March 1, 1945, in Tuckerman; two brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include two brothers, Emmit Huskey, Delphi, Ind., and Billy Huskey, Jonesboro.

Funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. in the Landess Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Huskey officiating. Burial was in Mt. Gilead cemetery at Clarkton, Mo., under the direction of Landess Funeral Home of Campbell, Mo.

Jennessa L. Patty

Jennessa Louise Patty, 31, of Gravel Ridge, died March 21, 2006.

She was a preschool teacher and a member of Bible Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Patty; daughters, Syerra Apperson and Donna Patty, all of Gravel Ridge; parents, David and Nancy Cook of Romance; sister, Virginia Apperson of Austin; grandmother, Virginia Graul of Marble Hill, MO; grandfather, George Edwards of St. Louis, MO; stepbrother, David Cook Jr. of Jacksonville; stepsister, Amy Cave of Florida; and half-sister, Michelle Apperson of St. Louis, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., March 25, at Moore’s Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Rev. David Cwenar officiating.

Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Fri., March 24, at the funeral home.
Funeral arrangements are under direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

James McNew, Sr.

James Taylor McNew, Sr., 88, of Jacksonville, died March 27, 2006.

He was retired as a self-employed electrician and a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his sons, James T. McNew, Jr., and Ronald L. McNew both of North Little Rock; daughter, Dorothy A. Taylor of Sherwood; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held March 29 at Concord cemetery in Furlow.

Arrangement made by Roller-Owens Funeral Home.
Memorial may be made to Woodland Hills Health Care, 1320 W. Braden St., Jacksonville, AR 72076.

Louise S. Brians

Louise Stover Brians, 78, of Cabot, died March 26, 2006.
She was a long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, R. E. Brians of the home; daughter, Deborah Short of Bentonville; stepson, Bob of Sherwood; three granddaughters; one great-grandson; brother, Aubrey Stover of Morrilton; sisters, Avanelle Chapman of Morrilton, Ollie Mae Bostian of Indiana, and Leta Rossa of Florida; and step-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Wed., March 29, in the Chapel of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock with Dr. Rex Horne officiating.

Interment will follow in Pinecrest cemetery in Alexander.

Memorial donations may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, The American Cancer Society, or a favorite charity.

Frank M. Averett, Jr.

Frank Meredith Averett, Jr., 59, of Sherwood, died March 27, 2006.

He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Hobby Club.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela K. Averett of Sherwood; foster parents, Buck and Dixie Buchanan of Cabot; sons, Arthur Cave of Tucson, AZ, and Orville Cave II of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Tamela Cain of Jacksonville; half-sisters, Annette Simmons and Scarlet Messick; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thurs., March 30, at Moore’s Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wed., March 29, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to cancer research.

Funeral arrangements are under direction of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

James M. McHaney

James Marion McHaney, 85, of North Little Rock, died March 27, 2006.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, and former school principal at Denning Elementary School in West Frankfort, IL. He was a retired administrator of Child Health for the Arkansas Department of Health.

He is survived by his sons, James McHaney, Jr., of Belleville, IL, Joe McHaney, of West Frankfort, IL, Jim Silkwood, and Daniel McHaney, both of North Little Rock; daughter, Ginger Young, of Sherwood; brother, Leigh McHaney, of Salem, IL; sisters, Frances Morris, of Salem, IL, and Emma Branch of Woodward, OK; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Fri., March 31, at Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock.

Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thurs., March 30, at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.
