Floyd E. Bray

Floyd E. Bray, 84, of North Little Rock, died Oct. 27, 2005. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. His life included farming, custodial work for the University of Illinois, Department Manager for J.C. Penney, assembly lineman for Cradco Window Company, from which he retired at the age of 65. After retiring, he worked part-time as a security guard for Solo-Cup.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Ellen Padgett Bray; sister, Ruby Smith; daughters, Nancy Dorsey of North Little Rock and Carol Hall Champaign, IL; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements by Huson Funeral Home, Sherwood.

Tommy E. Letbetter

Tommy E. Letbetter, 52, of Jacksonville, died Oct. 29, 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Ussery; parents, Betty and Charles Letbetter of North Little Rock; sister, Charlotte Bishop of Sherwood; and brother, Tim Letbetter of New Jersey.

A private memorial service for the family to be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Baptist Health Hospice, 11900 Colonel Glenn Road, Suite 2000, Little Rock, or Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock.

Arrangements by Cremation Association of Arkansas.

Edna Wankum

Edna Wankum, 91, of North Little Rock, died Oct. 29, 2005.
She was a retired bookkeeper for Planters Lumber Company and a member of the Ladies Altar Guild and Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by her son, David Wankum of North Little Rock; daughters, Mary Ellen Knowlton of San Antonio, Deanie Rowe of Little Rock, and Margie Abdin of Sherwood; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A vigil service was held at North Little Rock Funeral Home Nov. 2. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thurs., Nov. 3, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 19th and Maple St., North Little Rock, with interment at Calvary cemetery. Rev. Warren Harvey and Rev. Ochieze officiated.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, Arkansas Hospice or St. Patrick's Catholic School.

Jack L. Bell

Jack L. Bell, 89, of Sherwood, died Oct. 30, 2005. He was the owner/operator of Jack's Dairy Freeze for 20-plus years in Sylvan Hills.

Survivors include his children, Robert Bell of Lake St. Louis, MO, Jackie B. Irwin of Sherwood, Vicki Weatherford of Hot Springs, and Terri Swedenburg of Little Rock; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Asay of Little Rock, Mildred Parker of North Little Rock, and Melba Jean Overturf of Stuttgart.

A graveside service was held Nov. 2 at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.
Arrangements were by Rest Hills Funeral Home.

Blake Anthony Jones
Blake Anthony Jones, 22, of Clover Bend died July 24, 2004, at St. Bernard's in Jonesboro, following a sudden illness.

Born Oct. 9, 1981, in Jonesboro, he was a 2001 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Walnut Ridge.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Jones, and his grandfathers, Wendal Jones and Merle Davis.

Survivors include his father, Stan Jones, Clover Bend; a brother, Britt Jones, Clover Bend; a sister, Lindsey Jones, Walnut Ridge; his grandmothers, Delois Jones, Clover Bend; and Leota Davis, Wichita, Kan.

Funeral was Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Walnut Ridge with Dale Hughart officiating. Burial was in Clover Bend cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Leonard Kaye, David Smith, Paul Bennett, John Connor, David Blakeney and Joel Kaye.

Linda Sue Singley

Linda Sue Singley, 47 of Cabot died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005 in North Little Rock. Linda graduated from Cabot High School in 1977. Mrs. Singley has served 28 years with the Air Force National Guard and 11 years with the U.S. Air Force. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cabot.

She is survived by her husband, Les of the home; two sons, Shane and Chris Micheli of Cabot; one granddaughter; five sisters, Stella Stout of Cabot, Della Smith of Waverly, Miss., Nora Hernandez of San Antonio, Texas, Brenda Enis of Missouri, Loretta Norwick of Cabot; brother, Michael Micheli of Cabot; mother-in-law, Lois Havard of North Little Rock; father- in-law, Samuel L. Singley of North Little Rock.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005 at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Cabot.

Charles Thompson

Charles “Chock” Thompson, 70, of Alexander, died Nov. 24, 2005. He retired from Colonial Bakery and was a member of Benton Pentecostal Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hazel; son, Roger Thompson of Alexander; daughters, Charline Wyllia of Alexander, and Edna Brooks of North Little Rock; brother, Raymond Thompson of Shannon Hills; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 28 at Huson Funeral Home in Little Rock. Burial was in the Butler cemetery.

Kathryn Ann Hurley

Kathryn Ann Hurley, 88, of Hot Springs, died Nov. 24, 2005.
She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Dr. William Maurice Hurley of Hot Springs; son, Jim Hurley of Thousand Oaks, CA; daughter, Kay Jerald Smith of Sherwood; and son Bill Hurley of Hot Springs; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Nov. 28 at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Park Hill Baptist Church. Arrangements were by Roller Owens Funeral Home.

Helen F. Harris

Helen F. Harris, 72, of Sherwood, died Nov. 26, 2005.
She was a member of First Pentecostal Church in North Little Rock and a retired nursing assistant.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Harris; son, Robert Lee Harris, both of Sherwood; daughters, Linda Harris Brown of Cabot, Roxanne Andrews of North Little Rock, Mary Lou Hudspeth of Springdale and Melissa McPherson of North Little Rock; brother, Walter B. Krueger of Elgin, IL; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 29 at the First Pentecostal Church. Burial was in Rest Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements were by North Little Rock Funeral Home.

Wendell W. Horton

Wendell Wayne Horton, 80, of North Little Rock, died Nov. 27, 2005. He was a Navy veteran, serving on the battleship USS Mississippi during WWII.

Survivors include his daughters, Sandra Jean Matonik of Carol Stream, IL, and Sharon Lynn Horton of Roselle, IL; sisters, Wanda Morrison of Sherwood, and Mada Blasingame of Antioch; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at the Arkansas State Veterans cemetery in North Little Rock, Nov. 30. Arrangements were by the Roller-Owens Funeral Home.

Rachel E. Trent

Rachel Elizabeth Trent, 93, of Morrilton, died Nov. 27, 2005. She taught elementary school a total of 26 years, most recently at the Southern Christian Home. She gave private piano lessons until she was 90 years old and was a member of the Bigelow Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son, Jack Trent of Morrilton; daughter, Carol Randle of Sherwood; sister, Barkley Bullard of Helena; three grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

Services for Mrs. Trent were held Nov. 30 at the Bob Neal & Sons Chapel. Interment was at the Cypert cemetery in Marvell. Memorials may be made to the Barry Rosie Family in Madagascar, in care of Fraley’s Chapel Church of Christ c/o Phillip Young, 140 C.R. 170, Corinth, Miss. 38834.

Pearl S. Kennedy

Pearl Swaffar Kennedy, 96, of Quitman, died Nov. 26, 2005. She was a lifelong resident of Cleburne County and a member of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by her daughters, Elfreda Johnston of Sherwood, Muirl Pierce of Drasco, Edyie McDonald of Pittsboro, N.C., Donna Bogle of Springhill, La. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 29 in the Olmstead Chapel and interment in Goodlow cemetery.

Willie A. Moore

Willie A. Moore, 99, of North Little Rock, died Nov. 26, 2005.
Survivors include his sons, Orealious and Thurman, both of Little Rock, and Maurice Moore of North Little Rock; daughters, Melissia Barnes of Oakland, CA, Josephine Williams of Sherwood and Margaret Bland of Mabelvale; sister, Maggie Higgins of Pine Bluff; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sat., Dec. 3, at 11 a.m., at the Pilgrim Progress Baptist Church, 1301 N. Magnolia, in North Little Rock.

Interment will follow at Rest In Peace cemetery in Hensley.

Family hour will be 6-7 p.m., Fri., Dec. 2, at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester, in Little Rock (501) 372-1305.

Julian James Hays

Julian James Hays, 83, Judsonia, died Nov. 28, 2005. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Hazel A. Hays of Judsonia; children, James Hays of Searcy, Donna Grimes, and Rickey Hays both of Judsonia; sisters, Geneva Jordan of Sherwood, Cleo Lawson of Malvern, Dorothy Nier, Shirley King, and Reta Lewis, all of Searcy, and Lois Morris of Judsonia; brothers, Donnie and Redus Hays, both of Judsonia; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thurs., Dec. 1, at the Valley Baptist Church in Searcy with interment in White County Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements by Powell Funeral Home, Searcy.

Ollie Mae Rabjohn

Ollie Mae Cooper Rabjohn, 74, of Little Rock, died Nov. 30, 2005. She was a member of Holy Souls Church in Scott and was a retired secretary.

She is survived by her daughters, Rita Fincher of Atlantic Beach, FL, Deborah Songer of Memphis, TN, and Donna Denton of Sherwood; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Walker, Billie Jean Thomas, and Phyllis Killion; and brothers, Joe Cooper and Charles Cooper.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Fri., Dec. 2, at the Roller-Drummond Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Harlan officiating. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thurs., Dec. 1, at the funeral home.

Jeanne McCall
Jeanne McCall, 80, of Memphis, formerly of Lawrence County, died July 23, 2004, at Heartland Nursing Home.

She was retired from Dealers Transport Company after 37 years.

Graveside service was Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of Family Funeral Care of Memphis.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
