Dewey E. Duncan

Dewey E. Duncan, 70, of Sherwood, died 13, 2005.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army reserves, a retired locomotive engineer with Union Pacific Railroad, and a former local chairman for both U.T.U. and B.L.E.T, transportation unions. was a member and deacon of Park Hill Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Brooksie Read-Duncan; sons, Marty Duncan of Newark and Scott Duncan of North Little Rock; daughter, Valerie Little of The Woodlands, TX; stepsons, William Read of Jackson, TN, and Michael Read, of North Little Rock; six grandchildren; four step-granddaughters; three step-grandsons; brothers, Pete and Elton both of Redfield, and Larry Duncan of East End Community.

Memorials may be made to Park Hill Christian Church Building Fund, 4400 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thurs., Dec. 15, at the Park Hill Christian Church with Rev. Miles Cook and Rev. Sidney Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in the Orion cemetery.

Katherine Johnson

Katherine L. Marsh Johnson, 68, of Sherwood, died Dec. 10, 2005.

. Katherine “Kat” was born in Lonoke. She was active in many areas of Christian Ministry and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Little Rock. She was previously employed at Franklin Electric, Chicopee and Steak & Shake.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Kennedy of Killeen, TX, Patricia Wilson Rhodes of Little Rock and Lavetta McLennon of Sherwood; sisters, Margaree Woods of Anniston, AL, Lesmon Lampkins of Ashtabula, OH, Essie Keys of Pearland, TX, and Bettye Southall of Little Rock; brother, Veora Marsh of Ashtabula, OH; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Arrangements will be announced by Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester, LR (501) 372-1305.

Ethel E. Wickett

Ethel Elizabeth Wickett, 95, longtime resident of Gravel Ridge and Jacksonville, died Dec. 12, 2005.

She was a Charter Member of Gravel Ridge First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Hershel Wickett of Glenrock, WY, Laura Duke of Cabot, and Melba Rice of Sherwood; brother, Rex Henley; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thurs., Dec. 15, at First Baptist Church in Gravel Ridge.

Interment will follow at Harmony cemetery, Hwy. 89 in Faulkner County.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wed., Dec. 14, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home (791-7400).

Jackie C. Stanley

Jackie Carolyn Stanley, 70, of Little Rock, died Dec. 11, 2005.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church. She was employed by Gene Lockwood Sportsmart for 391/2 years.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ross; daughters Renee Mann, Sandra Green and Tracy Evans; seven grandchildren; and brothers, Edward Stephens and Roderick Rhodes.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thurs., Dec. 15, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father John Kerr and Father Warren Harvey officiating.

Burial services will be at the Arkansas State Veteran’s cemetery in North Little Rock.

Memorial may be made to St. Patrick’s Church Organ Fund, 19th and Maple, North Little Rock, AR 72114 or St. Jude Research Facility, 505 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Edith L. Cook

Edith L. Cook, 88, of Sherwood died Dec. 13, 2005.
She was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Joe of Heber Springs, Gary of Jacksonville, and Danny and Samuel Cook of Cabot; daughters, Mary Moser, Sandraa Crowder, and Katie Dinwiddie all of Sherwood; sisters, Emma Duck of North Little Rock and Pat Hall of Columbia, IL; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 5600 West 12th St., Little Rock, AR 72204.

Funeral services were held Dec. 16 at Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Sherwood.

Burial followed in the Arkansas Memorial Gardens.
North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edward N. Geary

Edward Norman Geary, 52, of Little Rock, died recently.
Survivors include his sisters, Corine Ford, Doris Loper and Deloris Jackson all of Kansas City, MO, and Pearline Henderson of Little Rock; and brother, Casey Jackson of Carlisle.

A Memorial Service will be held Sat., Dec. 17, 2 p.m., at Ruffin & Jarrett Chapel, 1200 Chester, LR (501) 372-1305.

Interment will follow at Springhill cemetery.

Funeral services will be Sat., Dec. 17, at 11 a.m., at Greater Second Baptist Church, 5615 Geyer Springs, Little Rock.

Interment will follow at St. Matthew cemetery, Kerr.

Family hour will be Fri., Dec. 16, 7:30-8:30 p.m., at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester, Little Rock (501) 372-1305.

Yusuf Muhammad (Joe Bankhead, Jr.)

Yusuf Muhammad, (Joe Bankhead Jr.) of Little Rock, died Dec. 10, 2005.
Survivors include his sons, Yusuf, Tony and Jay; daughters, Kamilah and Linka Bankhead; brother, Curtis Bankhead of Minnesota; and sisters, Bernice Ford of Urbana, Wanda Muhammad of Aurora, CO, Elizabeth Murphy of Montgomery, AL, Martha Hagood of Little Rock, Brenda Green of Conway, Mildred Flenory of Chicago, IL, and Martha Hall and Betty Forbes both of Sherwood.

Fuernal services will be 11 a.m. Dec. 15, Islamic Center for Human Excellence, 1717 Wright Ave. St., Little Rock.

Service entrusted to Dubisson Funeral Home, 374-5025.

William D. Mason

William Darrell Mason, 70, of El Dorado, died Dec. 6, 2005.
He was a former heavy equipment operator with Lion Oil.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Heath Mason; daughter, Terry Lowery; son, Glenn Mason; four grandchildren all of El Dorado; and sister, Barbara Collier of Sherwood.

Services were held Dec. 9 at the Young’s Funeral Directors Chapel in El Dorado.

Judy Gail Cook

Judy Gail Cook, 60, of Sherwood, died Dec. 9, 2005.
Surviving her is her daughter Melissa Gail Stuckey of Sherwood; three grandchildren; and brother Tony Ayers.

Funeral services were held Dec. 13 in the Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel in North Little Rock.

Interment was in the Carlisle City cemetery.

Billy Leo Tribble
Billy Leo Tribble, 56, of Pocahontas, died July 16, 2004, in Texas.

Born in Walnut Ridge, he worked as a truck driver for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ina Tribble.

Survivors include his wife, Dona Tribble; three sons, Terry Tribble and Randy Tribble, both of Pocahontas, and Billy Tribble Jr., Southhaven, Miss.; a daughter, Michelle Bolyard, California; two sisters, Reva Bowers, Pocahontas, and Diane Bullinger, Paragould; and three grandchildren, Matthew Tribble, Kayla Bolyard and Carson Bolyard.

Funeral was Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cox-Waymon Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Burial was in Chesser cemetery at Pocahontas. VFW Post No. 4556 conducted military honors at the gravesite.

Pallbearers were Neal McCracken, Russell West, Chris Corbett, Billy Whitted, Phillip Johnson and Larry Wyrick. Honorary pallbearers were Lyndall Hutsell, Carl Snyder and John Tweedy.

Rev. Pat Seymour

The Rev. Dr. Ira Patterson ``Pat’’ Seymour, 66, of Sherwood, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005. He served as vicar at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville until his retirement in 2003 due to health problems, which were later diagnosed as ALS. While at St. Stephen’s, he also served as one of the chaplains for Little Rock Air Force Base.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Sherwood; a daughter, Rebecca Olsen of Lusby, Md.; a son, Jonathan Seymour of Carlsbad, Calif.; a brother, Russ Seymour of Haughton, La.; three grandchildren; a step-mother, Doris Seymour of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; a half-brother, Mike Seymour of Tampa, Fla.; and a half-sister, Prissy Laffey of Austin, Texas.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 28, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at 1000 N. Mississippi in Little Rock, with Bishop Larry Maze and Fr. Rocki Proffitt presiding, followed by interment in the St. Mark’s Columbarium. A reception and lunch were held in St. Mark’s parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 2413 Northeastern in Jacksonville.

Edith Juanita Sparks

Edith Juanita Mitchell Sparks, 82, formerly of Bayou Meto Area, died in Ft. Worth Feb. 22, 2005. She was a member of the Bayou Meto Baptist Church and a retired factory worker and cook.

She is survived by two sons, Gilbert Carmical of Sherwood and Russell Sparks of Palmdale, Calif.; one daughter, Jeannie Ballard of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Herbert E. Mitchell, Jr. of Jacksonville; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Bayou Meto Baptist Church, 26200 Hwy. 107, Jacksonville, Ark. 72076.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 at Bayou Meto Baptist church. Interment were in Sumner cemetery in North Pulaski County. Family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home.
