Allan F. Garrett

Allan F. Garrett, 75, of North Little Rock, died May 2, 2006. He was a veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge at Sylvan Hills and El Paso.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Garrett; sons, Richard Garrett of Vilonia, Frank Garrett of Spatham, GA, Ronnie Garrett of Sherwood, Jim Garrett of Lonoke, and Ted Garrett of Zephyr Hills, FL; daughter, Susan Garrett of Tampa, FL; brothers, Dale Garrett of San Diego, CA, Edgar Garrett of House Springs, MO, and Roger Garrett of Brevard, NC; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Fri., May 5, at Huson Funeral Home, 7700 Highway 107 in Sherwood, with Bro. David Riley and Rev. Harry Truelove presiding.

Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans cemetery in North Little Rock with military honors and Masonic services.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thurs., May 4, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, Inc., or Arkansas State Veterans cemetery Beautification Foundation.

Chuck Hill

Chuck Hill, 50, of Higginson, died June 5, 2006. He was a member of the Garner Coon Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Hill; daughters, Becky Marshall of Garner, Jamie Johnson of West Point; step-daughters, Michelle Morgan of Sherwood and Samantha Sherman of West Helena; step-son, Christopher Sherman of West Helena; brothers, William Hill of Griffithville and Harold Hill of West Point; sisters, Shelia McCluskey and Hattie Vaughn both of Griffithville, Judy Holloway, Melissa Carter and Dovie LeMay all of West Point; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thurs., June 8, at the Powell Funeral Home of Bald Knob-Judsonia, with interment following at the West Point cemetery.

Ronnie Edward Rowland
Ronnie Edward Rowland, 60, of Black Rock, died Dec. 23, 2006, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

He lived in Paragould before moving to Black Rock. He was a self-employed truck driver and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Lynne Mullen Rowland; three sons, Darren Rowland, Sean Rowland and Greg Rowland, all of Missouri; a stepson, Jeremy Beary, Powhatan; a stepdaughter, Jenny Dollins, Datto; his parents, Onis and Minnie Rowland, Paragould; a brother, Donnie Rowland, Beech Grove; three sisters, Kathy Forsythe, Nevada, Joan Jones and June Shultz, both of Walnut Ridge, and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at New Life Full Gospel Church at Black Rock with Wayne Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh cemetery in Paragould under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Josh Jones, Rusty Schultz, Todd Rowland, Joey Stanfill, Billy Mullen and Brandon Pseffer.

Martha Lucille Shoe
Martha Lucille Shoe, 79, of Pocahontas, died Dec. 20, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was the owner of Shoe's Grocery in Delaplaine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ben Shoe.

Survivors include five sons, Alvin Shoe, Bob Shoe and Warren Shoe, all of Delaplaine; William Shoe, Walnut Ridge, and Ronnie Shoe, O'Kean; a daughter, Lisa Ann Kincade, Maynard; three sisters, Gladys Garner and Elizabeth Williams, both of Pocahontas, and Ethel Gillian, Peach Orchard; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas.

Pauline Simmons
Pauline Simmons, 90, of Jonesboro, formerly of Hoxie, died Dec. 25, 2006, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born April 7, 1916, at Peach Orchard, she was the daughter of Jack and Tennie Christian. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie "Bill" Simmons, on Aug. 8, 1987, whom she married July 25, 1931; a daughter, Mildrene Simmons; and a son, Billy Simmons.

Survivors include two daughters, June Semonds, Brinkley, and Joanner Noble, Hoxie; four sons, Kenneth Simmons, Judsonia, Roy Simmons, Alexander, Leonard Simmons, Hoxie, and Guy Otis Simmons, Wabbaseka; 22 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Bryan Chapel with Bro. Samuel Spurlock officiating. Burial will be in Strangers Home cemetery under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Randy Moore, Danny Osmond, Willie Simmons, Eddie Adamson, Jimmy Simmons and Rickey Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Simmons and Jerry Baker.

Visitation will be this evening at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.

Helen Ruth Clinton
Helen Ruth Gardner Clinton, 95, of Lynn, died May 11, 2007, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born July 30, 1911, at Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Grover and Mag Mullen Gardner. She was a lifetime resident of the Strawberry and Lynn areas and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a retired cafeteria worker and was a member of the Home Extension Club. She served as the Lynn correspondent for The Times Dispatch and The Ozark Journal for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claud Clinton, on Aug. 9, 1972; three brothers; two sisters; and a grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Louise Wright, Florissant, Mo.; three sons, Gardner Clinton, Lynn, Wayne Clinton, St. Paula, Calif., and Pat Clinton, Walnut Ridge; and six grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church near Lynn with Carl Cate and Terral Neeley officiating. Burial was in Dry Creek cemetery under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Lynn.

Mary Aline Fortenberry
Mary Aline Fortenberry, 87, of Swifton, died May 8, 2007.

Born at Swifton, she was the daughter of Benjamin and May Haskett Fortenberry.

Survivors include a son, James House, Battle Ground, Wash.; two brothers, Benny Fortenberry, Peraland, Texas, and Shelby Fortenberry, Swifton; and three grandchildren, Paul House, Martin House and Sunny Moxley.

Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Swifton Assembly of God Church. Burial was in Strangers Home cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

George Erwin Glenn Jr.
George Erwin Glenn Jr., 63, of Pocahontas, died May 10, 2007.

Born Feb. 14, 1944, in Powhatan, he served as a minister for several years and was a retired teacher and coach. He was a three-time All-American at three different positions in baseball for Arkansas State University. He was inducted into the Hall of Honor at ASU in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Erwin Glenn Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Glenn; two sons, Steven Glenn, Pocahontas, and Sean Glenn, Big Sandy, Texas; a daughter, Shay Glenn Crook, Jonesboro; his mother, Glenda Mae Glenn, Lynn; a brother, Michael Glenn, Smithville, a sister, Phyllis Woodard, Lynn; and two grandchildren, Brea Glenn and Tessa Glenn.

Funeral was Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Lynn.

Jerry Carl Hoffman
Jerry Carl Hoffman, 53, of Centerville, La., died May 8, 2007, at his home.

Born in Walnut Ridge, he was a plantation manager and was of the Assembly of God faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Beatrice Taylor Hoffman; and a brother, Stanley Paul Hoffman.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Morris Hoffman; three sons, Jerry Wayne Hoffman, Bayou Vista, La., John Eric Hoffman, Walnut Ridge, and Jason Lee Hoffman, Pocahontas; three brothers, Richard Wayne Hoffman, Black Rock, James Thomas Hoffman, Jonesboro, and Donald Ray Hoffman, Walnut Ridge; two sisters, Carolyn Sue Brown, Pocahontas, and Judy Diane Mashburn, Cord; and seven grandchildren, Alec, Gabrelle, Tristan, Zoe, Gavin, Erin and Sebastian.

Funeral was Friday at 1 p.m. at Sedgwick Baptist Church with Dennis Truxler officiating. Burial was in Old Military cemetery near Sedgwick under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Pallbearers were Wayne Hoffman, Aaron Hoffman, Joey Hoffman, Josh Morris, Paul Dawson and Matt Dawson.

Sydney Willmuth Kealer
Sydney Willmuth Kealer, 64, of Bryant, died May 13, 2007, following a lengthy illness.

Born April 28, 1943, in Strawberry, she taught at Bryant High School for 28 years. She earned a BBA degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and her masters in education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She continued taking classes until her retirement and accumulated many post-graduate hours.

She attended Primrose United Methodist Church in Sweet Home for 20 years and had been a member of Bryant First United Methodist Church for the past 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Amy Willmuth.

Survivors include her husband, Louis O.D. Kealer Jr.; two daughters, Lisa Carver and husband Don, Little Rock, and Kim Meaders and husband Mike, Benton; two brothers, Dr. Harold N. Willmuth and wife Marge, Walnut Ridge, and Carroll V. Willmuth and wife Oletha, Strawberry; and four grandchildren, Madeline Carver, Van Carver, Dillon Meaders and Jacob Meaders.

Graveside service was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Ward cemetery in Strawberry with Dr. Russell Moore officiating. Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Robert Willmuth, Randy Wooldridge, Bill Blankenship, David Clark, FK Willmuth and Jimmy Rex Williams.

Pearl Milligan
Pearl Robins Milligan, 98, of Strawberry, died May 9, 2007, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Born Sept. 2, 1908, at Jesup, she was the daughter of John Louis and Elvira Turnbow Robins. She was a retired merchandise buyer in Phoenix and was a member of the Harrison Street Church of Christ in Batesville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Everette Milligan; four brothers, Charles Taylor Robins, John Edward Robins, Benjamin Clyde Robins and an infant brother, Leland Robins; and three sisters, Mae Sullivan, Maude Howard and an infant sister, Lois Robins.

Survivors include a brother, James Lowell Robins, Batesville; five nephews, Charles Taylor Robins, Lubbock, Texas, Charles Bernard Robins and Joe Keith Robins, both of Strawberry, Byron Louis Robins, Greers Ferry, and James David Robins, Prairie Grove; four nieces, Mollie Faye Guthrie, Lebanon, Ill., Ferna Marsh, Boulder City, Nev., Barbara Billions, Germantown, Tenn., and Martha Jo Ruiz, Batesville; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel at Cave City with Dean Fugett officiating. Burial was in Lancaster cemetery near Strawberry.

Pallbearers were James Watson and nephews, Joe Keith Robins, Byron Louis Robins, Jerald F. Billions, James David Robins and Joseph R. Ruiz.

Lucille Nicholson
Lucille Nicholson, 91, of Swifton, died May 12, 2007, at her home.

Born May 26, 1915, in Alicia, she was the daughter of Dee and Sarah Etta Calvin Coker. She was a homemaker and a member of the Swifton Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Nicholson; a brother, Burford Coker; a sister, Jodell Kennedy; and an infant sister, Lillie Thelma Coker.

Survivors include four sons, Lynn Nicholson, Walnut Ridge, Larry Nicholson, West Memphis, Jeffery Nicholson, Tahlequah, Okla., and Tim Nicholson, Swifton; a daughter, Carolyn Harvey, Swifton; a brother, J.D. Coker, Jonesboro; two sisters, Beatrice Graham, Walnut Ridge, and Peggy Pierce, Rockford, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Swifton Church of Christ with Darrell Douglas and Mack Ballard officiating. Burial was in Haynes cemetery near Swifton under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jay Harvey, Greg Nicholson, Keith Nicholson, Kevin Nicholson, Marcus Nicholson and Jason Nicholson.
