China Nicholson
China Nicholson, 105, of Des Arc died Friday. Survivors include two daughters, Eurlene N. Brown, Bobbie Jean Green; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were 2 p.m. Monday at Garth Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Lakeside cemetery by Garth Funeral Home.

Shane Eric Stallings
Shane Eric Stallings, 20, of Des Arc, Ark., was born May 30, 1988, at Jacksonville, Ark. to Jerry and Cindy Covington Stallings and passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009, as a result of an automobile accident. Shane was a 2006 graduate from Des Arc High School and was a student at ASU in Beebe.
Shane is survived by his loving parents; one brother, Chad Stallings of Des Arc; maternal grandparents, Donnie and Betty Covington of Hickory Plains, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Shane will be greatly missed by a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Hickory Plains Methodist Church with burial in Hickory Plains cemetery. Arrangements by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.

Verna Georgia Patterson Aldridge
Verna Georgia Patterson Aldridge, born Oct. 24, 1909 in Ulm, outside of Stuttgart, Ark., passed away, Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the blessed age of 99 and a half years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Clarence James Aldridge; her sons, Darrell L. and Marshall Garry and his wife, Diane Aldridge. Verna is survived by her other sons, James “Jim” and Clarence J. and wife, Jo Anne Aldridge, and 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Her German heritage was from proud farm families who helped pioneer Stuttgart, Ark. She went to college at Hendrix and taught school in Ulm. She was also a former member of the Eastern Star. She and her husband owned two successful grocery stores on Main Street in Stuttgart and three stores on Broadway in North Little Rock, where she resided most of her life.
She was known to all as a Christian loving mother, a fair, caring person, and a friend to those who knew her.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, Brother Paul Rice presiding. Burial was in Sumner cemetery in Cabot. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. 758-1170.

Albert Carl Leder Jr.
Albert Carl Leder Jr., 94, died Monday, April 27, 2009.
Survivors are his wife of 70 years, Elda; children, Lowell, Sharon and Margaret; three siblings; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church with burial in Ulm cemetery. Arrangements by Turpin Funeral Home.

Silvia Anna Bennett Claussen
Silvia Anna Bennett Claussen, 90, of DeValls Bluff, went to her heavenly home on April 30, 2009. She was born in Carlisle, Arkansas, on October 23, 1918, to Charles and Elizabeth Bennett.
Silvia graduated from Carlisle High School in 1936 and then attended beauty school in Little Rock. Silvia operated her own beauty shop in DeValls Bluff for 45 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Elbert (Buster) Claussen; three brothers, Carl, Harry, and Dale Bennett, and three sisters, Lucy Jackson, Mary Epps, and Beulah Mitchell. Silvia is survived by one sister, Ethel Nancy Fitchpatrick of Counce, Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in DeValls Bluff by Bro. Bill Bruce. Burial was in the Oakland cemetery.
Arrangements are by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church C/ O Cindy Wolfe, 6538 Fricker Road, DeValls Bluff, Arkansas 72041.

Etta Mae Wilson
Etta Mae Wilson, 70, of North Little Rock, died Thursday, April 30th, 2009. She was born in Carlisle, Arkansas, on December 9th 1938, to the late Charlie and Liller Mitchell.
Etta is survived by her beloved husband, James Wilson; daughter Sheila Besly; granddaughter, Brandi Differ and husband John Differ; grandson William Differ, Scott Murry; two great-grandsons and sister Shirley Duvall, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at Hamilton cemetery outside of Carlisle on Monday, May 4th, 2009, at 1 p.m. Arrangements provided by Huson Funeral Home.

Tommy Gene Little
Tommy Gene Little, 59, of Des Arc, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 31, 2009. Tommy was born July 7, 1949, in England, Arkansas, to William Marion Little and Cindy Spade Little. He loved working as a farmer. He was a Baptist.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 32 years, Karen Kaye Little in 2004; one brother: Bill Little and one sister: Lillian Beardman. He is survived by one daughter: Julie Little of England, Ark., two sisters: Darlene Harris and her husband Eddie of Benton, Ark., and Shirley Little of Benton, Ark.; one brother: Arnold Little of Malvern, Ark., three sisters-in-law: Sheilah Harrison and her husband Randy of England, Ark., Jeannie Martin and her husband David of Huntsville, Ark., and Judy Phillips of Cabot, Ark., one brother-in-law: Johnny Phillips and his wife Billie of Huntsville, Ark.
Funeral services were held at Roller England Funeral Home (501-842-3939), Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. Burial was in Mulberry cemetery in England, Ark.

Lucille Hall
Lucille Hall, age 92, of Little Rock, departed this Earth on Saturday, May 30, 2009. She was born on April 25, 1917 in Hazen. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Callie Mosby, husband, Melvin Hall (1996), seven brothers and six sisters and a host of nephews and nieces. Lucille attended the school of DeValls Bluff and Biscoe High and later met and married her husband, Melvin Hall. They resided in Stuttgart where they raised their daughter, Priscilla Hodges. The memory of Lucille will be greatly cherished and missed by her many friends and relatives.
Lucille leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Priscilla (Cudell) Hodges of Little Rock with her husband, Cudell Hodges, three grandchildren, Melvin Hall of Little Rock, Michael Hall of Greenacres, Florida and Cachet Blalock of Boynton Beach, Florida; two great-grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces
Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 6 at Merredith Memorial Church, Pastor Ronnie Mosby officiating. Interment was in Springfield cemetery, Seaton, Ark. Pallbearers were Michael Mosby, Mark Mosby, Tommy Hall Jr., and Armon Junior. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Mosby Jr., Bobby Mosby, John Mosby, Jake Mosby, James Junior, and William Junior. Arrangements by Watson Northcrest Funeral Home, North Little Rock.

Kimberley Michelle Branham-Dietrich
Kimberley Michelle Branham-Dietrich, 42, of Des Arc died Friday, June 5, 2009. She was born on July 7, 1966. She is survived by her mother, Emmaline Crye; her husband, Joe Dietrich; one son, Nicholas Polk; one daughter, Labeth Polk; one brother, Tony Crye; one sister, Debbie Tucker and one grandson, Kaleb Pierce.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 7 at Gospel Mission Church in Des Arc with burial at Sandhill cemetery.

Houston Rouse
Houston “Sonny” Rouse, 82, of Sherwood passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009. He was born November 22, 1926 in Carlisle, Arkansas to Neal and Jessie Pearson Rouse. He was a member of Sherwood First Baptist Church and a retired switchman for the Rock Island Railroad/Union Pacific with 35 years service. After retirement he worked as maintenance contractor for Bentley Apartments.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and David Watson, of Sherwood and Lynn and Chuck Townsend, of Little Rock; son, Neal Rouse, of Lonoke; six grandchildren, Whitney Watson, Tricia and Christy Riley, Joe Rouse, Heather and Amber Townsend; and two sisters, Rachel Young, of North Little Rock and Louise Scott, of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Millie Rouse; his parents; three sisters and his brother.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 901 N. University Ave., Little Rock, Arkansas 72203.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel with a 3 p.m. committal service at Hamilton cemetery, Carlisle, Arkansas. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.

Bryant Holloway
Bryant “Edmon” Holloway, age 57, of Pangburn, Arkansas, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in a Little Rock hospital. Born on September 27, 1951, in Des Arc, Arkansas, he was the son of Bryant Holloway. He was a retired body shop owner and a member of the Army National Guard. He loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed life, his family and friends to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Kever Sherrill Holloway of Pangburn; one son, Brent Holloway of Little Rock; two step-sons, Andy Sherrill and Randy Sherrill both of Salado; one daughter, Tonya Looper of Little Rock; one step-daughter, Toni Keller of Desha; two brothers, Brian Holloway of Searcy and Curtis Goodrich of Greenbrier and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Brad Holloway and his grandparents, George and Lilly Holloway.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Willis Funeral Service of Batesville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, Texas, 75284-1125 or e-mail www.donate.americanheart.org.

William H. Heard Sr.
William H. Heard Sr., a native of Newport, Ark., and, since 2001 a resident at Sherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sherwood, died June 4, 2009. He was 99.
Prior to his retirement, Heard was manager of the Newport Chamber of Commerce for several years. Earlier, he had held management positions at companies in Des Arc, Morrilton and Newport.
A member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church at his death, Heard was for many years a Presbyterian elder, serving on the Board of Elders at churches in Newport, Morrilton and Lubbock, Texas, and teaching Sunday School. At Pulaski Heights, he was a longtime member of the church choir and also volunteered for Christian outreach and visited nursing home residents, hospital patients and shut-ins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, and by his brothers, George, Walter and Paul.
Heard is survived by his sons, Joseph W. Heard of Boulder, Colo., and William H. Heard, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Sharon, of San Diego, Calif. Also by his grandson, William H. Heard, III, of Los Angeles; granddaughter, Mary Betty Taylor and husband, Curtis Taylor, and great-granddaughter, Amanda L. Taylor of Carlsbad, Calif.; and by Libby and Jerry James of Conway, Ark., April Dikeman of Centreville, Va., Michael James of Macon, Ga., Mike and Mary Cogbill of Fort Smith, Ark., Jim Cogbill of Saginaw, Mich., and Kathleen Warr of Miami, Fla.
Arrangements at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock (501) 224-8300. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, in the main sanctuary of the Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, 4823 Woodlawn Ave., Little Rock (501) 664-3600. A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. at the Walnut Grove cemetery in Newport.

Claudia Faye Williams
Claudia Faye (Campbell) Williams, 73 of Sherwood, went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2009. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Webster Homer Williams; grandson, Jason Michael Williams;and her parents, Wes and Clarice Campbell.
Claudia is survived by one daughter, Terry (Moe) Williams of Conway; one son, Stephen Paul (Vickie) Williams of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Lester Campbell of North Little Rock; one sister, Shirley Campbell of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Stacy, Audre, and Jason; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Landmark Baptist Church, 1701 General Samuels Road, Jacksonville, Ark. There was a 1 p.m. committal service on Tuesday at Centerpoint cemetery in Hazen, Ark.
Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1921 Main Street, 758-1170.
