Harold Ford Crocker, "Pop" Harold Ford Crocker, "Pop", 95, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, passed away December 9, 2006 in Mt. Pleasant. He was born June 23, 1911 in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Ralph Crocker, Sr. and Annie (Smethurst) Crocker. He married Dorothy Brin on February 28, 1935 in Dallas, Texas. They celebrated 66 1/2 years of happiness together. Mr. Crocker was a Home Builder and Real Estate Developer in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of A.C. Garrett Masonic Lodge, a life member of Hella Temple Shrine, and was in the first full graduating class at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas in 1929. After graduating, he attended SMU for a short time, but graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1934 where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Mr. Crocker retired to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas in 1978 and was a member of the Lions Club and Fairfield Bay Shrine Club. He was also a member of the St. Francis Episcopal Church in Heber Springs, AR. He moved to Mt. Pleasant to be closer to family in August of 2006. He is survived by one son, Ken Crocker and wife Beverly of Celina, TX; daughter-in-law, Linda Crocker of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, Cathy McClure of Charlotte, NC, Ken Crocker, Jr. and wife Tam of Huntersville, NC, Karen Mars and husband Billy of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Kevin Crocker and wife Nikki of Dallas, TX; and David Crocker of Plano, TX; seven great grandchildren, Mary McClure, Brittany Crocker, Brin and Conner Mars, Catlin and Kai Crocker, and Christian Crocker; brothers, Sheldon Crocker of Baytown, TX, Ralph Crocker, Jr. and wife Margaret of Austin, TX, brother-in-law and wife, Gordon and Betty Brin of Dallas, TX and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, William; son, Thomas E. Crocker and wife Dorothy Brin Crocker. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 14th at 11:00 AM at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas with Jeff Jullian officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 7-9 PM Wednesday, December 13th at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cypress Basin Hospice, 207 Morgan St., Mt. Pleasant, TX 75455. Retha M. Cook Retha M. Cook passed away Novemebr 27, 2006 in Spring Hill FL. Mrs. Cook and her husband Richard lived in Fairfield Bay from 1991 - 1993. Survived by a son, John Cook of Fairfield Bay, a daughter, Pat Adler of Spring Hill FL., and six grand children and 12 great grand children. Oscar Wallace Beattie Oscar Wallace Beattie, 77 of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, formerly of Pana, IL died Thursday, November 23, 2006 at 8:25 a.m. in Baptist Hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born July 22, 1929 in Rosamond, IL, the son of Jesse W. & Vida P. Pope Beattie, deceased. A graduate of Rosamond High School, he served in the U. S. Army and later in the Naval Reserves. He had lived in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Pana, Illinois and moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas six years ago. He retired in 1998 from GrowMark. He had worked in the grain business all of his life managing elevators and consulting. He and his wife, Theresa, restored their home in Pana and accomplished having it put on the National Registry. Oscar married Theresa M. Phillips on June 27, 1969 in Sullivan, IL, She died December 7, 1993. He married Roberta (Crockett) McSpadden on January 19, 2002 in Austin, Texas and she survives in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. He is also survived by his step children: Anne Burkett & husband Andy, Edwardsville, IL; Tom Russell, Oreana, IL; Joe Russell & wife Jane, Bethany, IL; 11 step grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; sister: Dora Beattie, Rochester, IL; and by Roberta's children: Debra & husband Keith, Marian, IL; Lyn & husband Charles, Yorktown, TX; Crystal & husband Eddie, Waco, TX; Robert & wife Shelley, Buda, TX; Richard & wife Janet, Dale, TX; Raymond & wife Dianne, Buda, TX; and by her 14 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Francis Hudson officiating. Burial was in Rosemond Grove cemetery, Rosamond, IL with military graveside rites. Visitation was Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. William E. Miller William E. Miller, 51 of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away on October 14th, 2006. He was born in Gary, Indiana on October 2nd, 1955 to John A. and Shirley Gottlieb Miller. He retired after 30 years at ISPAT Steel Co., a member of Indian Hills Country Club, and a member of the Fairfield Bay Rescue Squad. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Fairfield Bay, Ar., his parents, John A. and Shirley Miller, of Fairfield Bay, Ar., two brothers; Robert Miller, of Indianapolis, Indiana and Brian (& Jennifer) Miller of Antiock, Illinois; two nephews, Brice and Blake, and long time friend, Ross Sanders. A Memorial Service was held Thursday at Roller McNut Chapel Mary Frances Morehead Mary Frances Morehead, age 90, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, October 14th, 2006 at Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay. Born in Clutier, Iowa, on January 13th, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Mary F. (Roushar) Husak. A former resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Morehead had lived in Fairfield Bay since 1972. She was a homemaker and had a wide variety of interests. Mrs. Morehead was a member of Questers and a Sorority in Fairfield Bay. She enjoyed antiques, was an avid Bridge player, and loved reading cook books, gardening, and cooking. Mrs. Morehead was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Alter Society and Outreach Program of the Church. Her husband, Herbert J. Morehead, preceded her in death. Survivors include, one son, Douglas H. Morehead of Boca Raton, Florida; two daughters, Lisa Morehead of Aurora, Ill., and Leslie Morehead and her husband, Robert Monserud, of Portland, Oregon; 5 grandchildren, Aimee Morehead of Ft. Myers, Florida, Aaron Mundie and wife Andromeda, of Spokane, Washington, Megan Mundie of Willowbrook, Ill., and Tara Mundie and Molly Mundie both of Downers Grove, Ill.;and three great-grandchildren, Alexander, of Downers Grove, Ill., and Bethany and Emma, both of Spokane, Washington. Mrs. Morehead is also survived by other relatives and her many friends. A Rosary will be held Tuesday, October 17, at 5:00p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, October 18, at 11:00a.m. in the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Elser officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Memorial Park. He passed away at his home in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas on September 25, 2007. Before retirement, he was a cotton and soybean farmer at Marianna. He was a member of the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maureen Griffin Thomas; one daughter, Glanita Vanderford and husband Lee, of FFB; and two grandchildren, Renee Wood and husband Donald of Chicago, IL and Phillip Vanderford of Dallas, TX. A Memorial Service was held Wednesday, September 26 at 11 a.m. at the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church. LILES, HARRIL EUGENE Tuesday, November 05, 1935 - Wednesday, September 19, 2007 Harril Eugene Liles 71, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas passed away on September 19, 2007 at his home. Born November 5, 1935 in Drasco, Arkansas, son of the late Foster Liles & Annie Horn Liles, he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, retired tool grinder for General Motors and of Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife Myrna Joyce Straw Liles of the home; his children, Tina (Don) King and Tonya Stone, both of Constantine, MI; two brothers, Foster Liles of Fairfield Bay and Elvia (Genevia) Liles of Drasco, AR; two sisters, Goldia Gardner of Fairfield Bay, AR and Joyce (Jack) Kaufman of Statesville, NC. Also left behind are two grandsons and three granddaughters. Cremation arrangements by Roller McNutt of Clinton. A memorial will be at a later date. DUNCAN, WILLIAM K. JR. Saturday, January 23, 1943 - Monday, August 06, 2007 Retired Chief Master Sergeant William K. Duncan Jr. was born on January 23, 1943 to William and Francis Duncan in Poplar Bluff Missouri. He moved to Conway Arkansas prior to starting school. He graduated from Conway High school in 1961. In July of 1961 he entered the United States Air Force. He served his country for 29 1/2 years and retired Dec. 1990. During his years in the Air Force he earned a Bachelors Degree from Auburn University at Montgomery Alabama. He also had an Associated Degree in Business Management from the Community College of the Air Force. He was a decorated veteran and served in the Vietnam War. His honors include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Presidential Unit Citation and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Citation with 9 Oak Leaf Cluster. In August 1990, Bill moved to Fairfield Bay with his wife Linda. Bill was an avid golfer and became involved in the Arkansas State Golf Association. He was the Senior Course Rater and rated courses all over the state. He also was a member of the Fairfield Bay Rescue Squad since 1993. He served on the Greers Ferry Lake Little Red River Association Board and was a member of the VFW. Bill became involved in Fairfield Bay city government and was appointed to the city council in February 2002. He was appointed Mayor in August 2004 a position he held until he resigned on August 1, 2007 due to his health. He was appointed as Vice President to the Second District at the June 2007 Municipal League Meeting. And had served on the Municipal League Advisory Council for the past 3 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Kay, the mother of his two daughters. He is survived by his wife Linda. Daughters Susan (John) Casey of Ogden, Iowa and Paula Duncan and Micheal Kroll of Boone, Iowa. Sister Frankie(Don) Whalen of Bastrop, Texas. Mother- in- law Wilma Moore of Fairfield Bay. Brother- in law- Gary Harshbarger (Maryanne) of Spring, Texas and his many friends. COX, MARY PEARL MAWDSLEY Wednesday, June 24, 1925 - Wednesday, July 04, 2007 Mary Pearl Mawdsley Cox (82) of Plant departed this life surrounded by her family, July 4, 2007, at her home on Elba Road following a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born June 24, 1925, at Chester, Arkansas to the late William and Ruth Widener Mawdsley. Mary worked as an Army Post Supply Clerk and a shipyard worker in California during WW11 prior to graduating from Clinton High School in 1945. On July 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to LD Cox. Co-workers may remember Mary as a machine operator at the Clinton Climatic plant. She was a member of the Plant Baptist Church. Mary most enjoyed being outdoors and her hobbies included horseback riding, fishing, hiking, gardening and spending time with a long succession of cats. She is survived by her husband LD, and two children, Ronnie (wife, Dottie) Cox of Greenbrier and Teresa (husband Lee) Gates of Clinton. She is also survived by five grandchildren Glenna (husband Chris) Laymon; Russell (wife Ashley) Cox; and five great-grandchildren. She is further survived by three older sisters, Reba Beall of San Antonio, Texas, Virginia Roddy of Canyon, Texas, and Mabel Haefeker of Springfield, Missouri, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Teddy Mawdsley, and two sisters, Irene Vasper and Louise Slusher. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 7 at Plant Baptist Church on Highway 110 with Pastor David Williams officiating. She was interred in the Plant cemetery.
