Annie Lee Evans

June 29, 1911 - April 17, 2012

Annie Lee Evans, age 100 of El Dorado, went to sleep with her Lord and Master to await the great resurrection of his saints on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Timberlane Health and Rehab Center in El Dorado with her daughters and son in laws by her side. She was born on June 29, 1911 in Caledonia community to the late Robert Alexander and Mary Elizabeth (Dykes) Woodall.

In 1962, Annie went to work in the Union Medical Center Nursery, spending the next ten years feeding, changing and rocking numerous babies during her career. She was a longtime member of El Dorados Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 73 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great great- grandmother representing 5 generations of family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 29 years, Bernard Lavon Buster Evans; two sisters, Audrey Taylor and Ruth Harrison; three brothers, Olin, Millard and Howard Woodall; granddaughter, Tammy Renee Burns.

Those left to cherish her memory include; two daughters, Marion Rainwater and husband Julius, Charlotte Sullivan and husband Jimmy all of El Dorado; five granddaughters, Jana Nations and husband Tony of Longview, Tx, Rhonda Cardin and husband Les, Chantle Selman and husband Jack, Karen Williams and partner Gordon Hite, Dee Shana McKinnon and husband Gene all of El Dorado; one grandson, Cody Burns and wife Mari Anne of Praireville, La; six great granddaughters, Heather DeBlieux, BreAnna Williams and partner Chris Stroub, Jordan McKinnon, Kaitlyn Cardin, Mallory Selman and Amy Burns; five great grandsons, Cliff Nations and partner Ashley, Eric Nations and wife Elizabeth, Nicholas Burns, Evan McKinnon and Logan Selman; three great great grandsons, Karson DeBlieux, Kolton DeBlieux and Nathan Nations; one great great granddaughter, Payton Nations.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Mercer officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.

Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm service time on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Cody Burns, Les Cardin, Jack Selman, Chris Stroub, Gene McKinnon, Eric Nations, Evan McKinnon and Logan Selman.

Memorials may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church of El Dorado.

Jerry Dan Kooms
December 30, 1947 - December 7, 2012

Jerry Dan Kooms, 64, of El Dorado passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born December 30, 1947 in El Dorado to James Lewis Kooms, Sr. and Jewel Hughes.

He was a carpenter and worked for several companies during his career. He loved spending time outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing or just using his skills to build projects for his family and friends. He was also very talented at drawing pictures. More than anything else he loved spending time with his family. Jerry served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a loving father and inspiration to everyone who watched him courageously battle his wounds.

Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Adri Kooms of El Dorado; Kristy Kooms and boyfriend, Mikey Woorden of Ricon, GA and Nikki VanderPoel and husband, Matt of Jackson, WY; two brothers, James Kooms, Jr. and wife, Martha; Oscar Kooms and wife, June; three sisters, Betty Hux and husband, Garry; Pauline Goodwin and husband, Ronnie all of El Dorado, Judy Johnston of Russellville, AR, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Inzer officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.

Visitation will be at 1:00pm Tuesday prior to service time.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Goodwin, David Goodwin, Clint Slaughter, Kirk McCrary, Bobby Kooms, James Kooms. Honorary Pallbearers will be Monroe Slaughter and James Slaughter.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital Burn Unit or Life Touch Hospice of El Dorado.

Melvin Dale Still

October 25, 1941 - March 17, 2012

Melvin Dale Still, 70 of El Dorado, AR. passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born October 25, 1941 in Roy, Arkansas.

He worked as a boiler operator for Cooper Tire and retired after 38yrs. of service. He attended Grace Baptist Church. Melvin enjoyed playing cards, working on Lawn Mowers and loved watching western movies, hunting and fishing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death are his parents, John L. and Laradell (Duncan) Still and one great grandson, Mason Sehon.

Survivors include his wife, Linda (Ward) Still of El Dorado, two daughters, Linda Gail Brewer and husband, Johnny of Junction City, Ar. and Margaret Ann Jackson and husband, Wayne of Spearsville, La. one brother, Billy Still, Sr. of Bearden, Ar.; four grandchildren, Katey Sehon and husband, Kevin of El Dorado; John David Brewer and fiance Lea Panell of Junction City, Ar; Mykenzie Jackson, Ansley Jackson of Spearsville, La; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00am, Monday, March 19, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home in El Dorado with Terrell Langley officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, Ar.

The family will be at the home of Linda Still at 1917 Country Square Rd. in El Dorado.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2-4pm at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to John R. Williamson Hospice or The Mason Sehon Fund @ Arkansas Childrens Hospital.

Mabel E. Burns

August 4, 1919 - July 19, 2012

Mabel E. Burns, age 92 of El Dorado, passed from this life on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado. She was born on August 4, 1919 in Union County to the late J.M. and Gertrude (Richardson) Lee. Mabel was a longtime member of the Second Baptist Church and was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great- Great Grandmother.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Willie J. Burns; one brother, Marion Lee; two sisters, Ruby Sewell and Jewel Brown.

Those left to cherish her memory include; two daughters, Theela Steel and her husband Terry, Nelda McCall and her husband C.E., all of El Dorado; one grandson, James Haynie of El Dorado; five Granddaughters, Billie Mayer of Miami, FL, Kenya Clark of Monroe, LA, Robyn Remmler of El Dorado, Gena Smith and Shana Nixon Both of Arlington, TX; thirteen Great Grandchildren and three Great-Great Grandchildren. Also, numerous, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her three great grandsons; Gabriel Clark, David Smith, Drew McKinnie and her three nephews; Duane Brown, Ralph Sewell and Tony Richardson.

Memorials may be made to the John R. Williamson Hospice House or to a charity of your choice.

Gregory Leroy Pepper

September 19, 1961 - April 18, 2011

Gregory Leroy Pepper, 49 of Calion, died Monday, April 18, 2011 at his residence.

Born September 19, 1961 in Houston, Texas he was the son of Charles L. and Joan McKenzie Pepper. He was laborer in the construction industry.

Preceding him in death along with his mother were a brother Curtis Pepper and a sister, Brenda Teague.

Survivors include his father, Charles L. Pepper, two brothers, Randall Hines and Barry Pepper all of Calion, two sisters, Tina Carroll of Mississippi and Judy Baldwin of Parkers Chapel.

A private memorial service will be held at Champagnolle Cemetery at a later date.

Cremation services under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Virgie Marie Fife

July 17, 1928 - December 7, 2010

Virgie Marie Fife, 82 of El Dorado, AR; died on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas following a lengthy illness.

Born on July 17, 1928 in El Dorado; she was the daughter of Osro and Sarah Selph Cary. In her youth Virgie worked at the Colonial Bakery where she met her husband Bennie, later in life she was the Actives Director at Hudson Nursing Home. She enjoyed camping and fishing. Virgie was devoted to her family and her faith often studying her Bible and listening to gospel music. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of El Dorado.

Virgie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lyle, Elmer, Dewey and Elton Cary, sisters Mary Ann Cary and Loyie Harris, a daughter Charlotte Marie Fife Flournoy, a granddaughter Connie Rochell Flournoy, and a step grandson Brian Cameron.

Survivors are her husband of 64 years Bennie Hoil Fife of Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe, LA, a son Bennie Wayne (Judy) Fife of Branson, MO, daughters Sharon (Randy) Gibbons of El Dorado and Elaine (James) Humphries of Felsenthal, sisters Frances Odell Perry of El Dorado and Mabel (John) Pittman of Camden, a brother Rev. Clinton (Helen) Cary of Grapevine, AR.

Along with grandchildren Mona (Roy) Murray of Hot Springs, Shawna (Reggie) Ruffin, Keeley (Clint) Evers, Lesley (Jason) McDougal all of El Dorado, Jeri Lynn Eubanks of Monroe, LA, Rev. Scotty Wayne (Codi) Fife of Longview, TX, Shane Gibbons of Calion and 11 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are a special son in law and his wife Jimmy (Vickie) Flournoy and their children Lance Flournoy and Kirk (Kristi) Hudson.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, December 10, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church in El Dorado with Rev. Scotty Fife, Rev. Al Womack and Rev. Clinton Cary officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Bailey Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Churchs Progressive Ladies, 2225 West Hillsboro St, El Dorado, AR 71730 or Life Touch Hospice, 2301 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado, AR 71730.
