Lola Beatrice Anders

December 17, 1929 - October 13, 2010

Lola Beatrice Anders, 80 of El Dorado, AR; died on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at her home following a lengthy illness.

Born on December 17, 1929 in Hope, AR; she was the daughter of Judson and Minnie Massey Bowden. Lola graduated from Norphlet High School and was baptized while attending Norphlet Baptist Church. She attended Harmony Baptist Church and was a member of the Golden Girls Sunday School Class. Lola worked for Ragsdale Pharmacy and retired from Walgreens. She loved caring for her yard and garden and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Issac Ike, Judson, William and Jackson Bowden, a sister Ruth Bright, a grandson Richard Anders Jr., and her husband Raybon C. Anders.

Survivors are a daughter Diana (Robert) Carden of Smackover, AR, sons David (Linda) Anders of Magnolia, Allen (Pam) Anders of Chicago, IL, Rick (Peggy) Anders of El Dorado, Billy (Barbara) Anders of Owasso, OK, a sister Sally Adams of El Dorado, 9 grandchildren Angela LaGrand, Phillip Anders, Kevin Anders, Melissa Anders, Teresa Cameron, Cathy Morency, Craig Anders, Shane Carden and Heather Lambert and 6 great grandchildren Andrew and Peyton LaGrand, Nathan, Blake and Amy Anders, and Corey Carden.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2010 in the chapel of Bailey Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Whitlow officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.

The Family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Jo Carolyn Bledsoe

August 4, 1945 - October 8, 2012

Jo Carolyn (Gentry) Bledsoe, age 67 of El Dorado, passed from this life on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. She was born on August 4, 1945 in Highlands, Texas to the late James Clint and Anna Marie (Phillips) Gentry.

Jo was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend. She especially enjoyed all the good times that she and Claudis spent visiting with their friends at the Huddle House.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anna Gentry and by one son, Calvin Clark.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Claudis Bledsoe of El Dorado; One son, Leslie Wayne Clark of El Dorado; one daughter, Kimberly Lopez of Riverfront, TX; one Step-Son, Jonathan Oneal Bledsoe; one grandson, Robert Lopez Juventino of Riverfront, TX; and one brother, Paul Gentry of Texas City, TX. She is also survived by numerous other special friends.

Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Adam Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.

Eleanor Nennie Johnson

February 2, 1917 - October 28, 2012

Eleanor ’Nennie’ Hendrix Johnson, age 95 of El Dorado, passed from this life on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado. She was born on February 2, 1917 in Strong, AR to the late Henry Thomas and Julia Rosie (Jones) Hendrix. Eleanor was an excellent cook and loved cooking for all of her family and friends. She also loved growing and tending her flowers. She was a member of Marrable Hill Chapel Church and was a loving Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Allan Johnson; two brothers and one sister.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Dorothy E. Johnson of El Dorado; two sisters, Zelda Garner of Strong and Laura McKinnon of El Dorado; three nieces, Donna Bergeron of New Orleans, LA, Janell Sanders of Homer, LA and Judy Jackson of Monroe, LA; four nephews, Thomas Garner of Strong, Gene Garner of Houston, TX, Kenneth Garner of Baton Rouge, LA and Jim McKinnon of Magnolia. Also, numerous other great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday evening at Bailey Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 31st, 2012 at Marrable Hill Chapel with Bro. Sam Shepperson and Bro. Ben Wasson officiating. Burial will follow at Teel Cemetery near Strong under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.

Edwin Vernon Lee

May 10, 1918 - June 22, 2012

Edwin Vernon Lee, age 94, of El Dorado passed away peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 10, 1918 in Ranger, TX to the late Will E. and Bell Woolsey Lee.

Edwin was a member of the College Avenue Church of Christ where he faithfully attended until his health began to fail. He was a World War Two veteran in the first Infantry Red division and was in the third wave to come ashore on Omaha Beach. Also, Edwin was a participant in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a good husband, father and granddad whom will be greatly missed by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Bell Lee of Ranger, TX; two brothers and two sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jo Lee; daughter, Edwina Lee Doster; and the love of his life grandson, Dain Doster all of El Dorado; one sister, Frankie Briggs of Athens, TX; three nieces and two nephews.

A private family graveside services will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at a later time under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado.

A guestbook will be available at the funeral home on Monday and Tuesday.

J. D. Thurmon

November 19, 1930 - October 31, 2011

J. D. Thurmon, 80 of Junction City, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas following a brief illness.

Born November 19, 1930 in Union Parish, Louisiana he was the son of John W. and Georgia Viola Green Thurmon. Mr. Thurmon was an electrician and a veteran. He was a member of Blanchard Springs Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death along with his parents were his wife, Dorene Thurmon and a brother, James Thurmon.

Survivors include sons, Ronald G. Thurmon (Adrienne) of St. Louis, MO and Steve A. Thurmon (Sandra) of Junction City, daughters, Debra T. Plunkett (Lane) of Jonesboro, LA and Stacy Moseley of Calhoun, LA. Also surviving is one sister, Joann Smith (Rev. Billy) of El Dorado and three grandchildren, Ben Thurmon of Lillie, LA, Danny Thurmon (Rachel) and Christy Jones (Brian) all of Junction City and 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Blanchard Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 P. M. Wednesday evening at Bailey Funeral Home in Junction City.

Jeryl Everette New

February 21, 1936 - December 13, 2011

Jeryl Everette New, 75 of Junction City, AR; went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.

He started his working career as a Carpenter, moved on to Firestone, Prescolite Mfg., AP&L;, G.O. Construction, and Entergy where worked in the store room in El Dorado until he retired in 1995. Jeryl served his country in the National Guard and Army Reserve.

Jeryl served as a deacon for Victory Baptist in El Dorado, Fair Park Baptist in Russellville, and Three Creeks Baptist Church in Three Creeks. He loved his Lord and the Church. Jeryl enjoyed going on Mission Trips with the Church Youth. He followed all kinds of Sports and had umpired for Little League for several years. He also loved to hunt and fish. Jeryl also enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. Jeryl was devoted to his family and loved watching his children and grandchildren play. He was a great husband, father and Pappy to grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He came into this life on February 21, 1936. His parents were the late John Pete and Lorene Kennedy New. He was also preceded in death by a great grandson Seth Pumphrey.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Peggy Langley New, sons Jeryl Jerry New Jr. of Little Rock and Tim New working in Hong Kong, a daughter Pam (John) Pumphrey of Malvern, two special sons Yan Yu of California and Yee Yu of Hong Kong, his grandchildren Michelle New, Clint New, Breanna (David) Holley, Matthew (P.J.) Pumphrey, Andrew Pumphrey and Paul Pumphrey, and great grandchildren Emma and Asa Pumphrey. He is also survived by his brothers Elwynn (Betty) New and Danny (Celia) New of El Dorado, Gary (Kay) New of Magnolia. Jeryl had many special friends including Martha Rosa and Justin Rosa along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins

A celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m., Friday December 16, 2011 at Three Creeks Baptist Church with Rev. Lowell Snow and Rev. James Sparks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery by Bailey Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and Honorary Pallbearers will be the deacons of the Church.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in El Dorado Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Three Creeks Baptist Churchs Building Fund, 8772 Haynesville Hwy, Junction City, AR 71749 or Alzheimers Association, Central Arkansas Chapter, 1202 South Main Street, Suite 215, Little Rock, AR 72202.

Odessa Gilcrease Elza

March 28, 1924 - June 29, 2011

Odessa Gilcrease Elza, 87 of El Dorado, AR, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith, AR.

Born on March 28, 1924; she was a lifelong resident of El Dorado and the daughter of Dawson and Mae Thomason Gilcrease. Odessa was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of El Dorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and five brothers.

Survivors are her husband of 63 years Louis Elza Jr. of El Dorado, a niece Jane Barnhill of Greenwood, AR, a nephew Hugh V. Alderson of Fayetteville, NC., along with several other nieces and nephews.

Graveside services by Bailey Funeral Home will be at 10 am, Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Arlington Memorial Park with Rev. Ben Early officiating.
