Bert Kenyon Cahoon

Bert K. Cahoon, 92 of Pine Bluff died Friday, November 9, 2001 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born in Colorado December 26, 1908, a son of the late Fred Martin and Alma Stewart Cahoon.
Mr. Cahoon was reared and received his early education in the Faith Community near Pine Bluff. As a young man, he worked for Western Union before joining Arkansas Power and Light Company in 1934. He retired from AP&L in 1969 as a Line Foreman after 35 years with the company.
A member of First Baptist Church, Mr. Cahoon was very involved in Little League baseball in Pine Bluff. He was an umpire for the Pine Bluff National Little League from 1951 to 1976. He helped erect and maintain the field lights at several Pine Bluff baseball facilities. He was presented a Lifetime Service award by the Pine Bluff National League in 1998.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mildred Crossett Cahoon of Pine Bluff, to whom he was married December 12, 1936 in Sheridan; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Terry Pennington of West Memphis, Arkansas; son-in-law, Judge John Ward of Little Rock; grandchildren, Annette Haney and Bert Lee Pennington of West Memphis, Jeff Ward of New York, NY, Wendy Peters of Louisville, KY, Kerry Morgan of Shreveport, LA; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Berdell Cahoon Ward.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 12, at 3:00 PM in Robinson's Chapel with Reverend Gordon Topping officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to Gideons International, Box 6452, Pine Bluff, AR 71611.
Dorothy Mae Newman Vanlandingham

Dorothy Vanlandingham, 76, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born in Pulaski County January 4, 1925, to the late Benjamin Thomas and Cora Ellen Armstrong Newman. She was reared and received her early education in Brinkley, Arkansas and Crowder, Mississippi.
She moved to Pine Bluff in 1944. She was a lover of crafts and, according to her family, was an exceptionally good cook. She worked as a waitress in Pine Bluff for many years at the Country Kitchen, the Embers, Rosswood Country Club, and John Noah's Restaurant.
Survivors include Wesley Dee Vanlandingham, Jr. of Pine Bluff, Terry R. Vanlandingham of Pine Bluff, Randy D. Vanlandingham of Sheridan, sons; Dorothy Soto of Pine Bluff, daughter; Edith Bailey of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Bessie Curtis of Phoenix, Arizona, sisters; Ben Newman of Tennessee, brother; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and Sam Newman, and three sisters, Lucille Walker, Johnnie Young, and Narsis McAdams.
Services are Tuesday (11/13/2001) at 2:00 PM in Robinson's Chapel. The family will receive friends at Robinson's Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials requested to Arkansas Children's Hospital, 800 Marshall Street, Little Rock, AR 72202.
John Britton McCord

John Britton McCord, 22, of Dallas, Texas died November 11, 2001. He was the son of Bob McCord and wife Denise of Dallas, Texas and mother, Sherry Shults McCord of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
John was born in Pine Bluff, AR on March 1, 1979. He attended Watson Chapel Schools through the tenth grade. John moved to the Dallas area where he graduated from Duncanville High School. He worked for B and B Contractors, Inc. as a supervisor. He was a
member of The Oaks Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
Other survivors include brothers Jason McCord and Tec Wilson both of Dallas, Texas.. Maternal Grandfather J. M. Shults of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Paternal Grandparents Eddie
and Margie McCord of Mt. Ida, Arkansas.
The family will receive friends Wednesday November 14, 2001 6 to 8 PM at Ralph Robinson and Son. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 15, 2001 at Graceland Cemetery
with Reverend Gordon Topping officating.

Nellie Dean ( Granny ) Richmond
April 29, 1920 - November 17, 2001
Nellie Dean "Granny" Richmond, 81, of White Hall died Saturday November 17, 2001 at her home.
She had been a resident of the area since 1946.
Born April 29, 1920 in Ingalls, Arkansas, she was a daughter of the late L.O. Sharp and Mary Emma Hargis Sharp. She received her education in Bradley County.
She was a member of the White Hall First Assembly of God.
Despite her many physical disabilities, she dedicated her life to helping others in her family and community, and sharing her Christian values.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ausburn Richmond whom she married October 20, 1935 in Dyess, Arkansas; a son, George Richmond; a daughter, Patsy Devine; and a brother, Russell Sharp.
Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Latham of Nacogdoches, Texas; one son Joe Richmond of White Hall; one brother, Ike Sharp of Arkadelphia; nine granchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 20, 2001 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverends Tim Law and Dean Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 PM at Robinson's.
Pallbearers will be Joe Hale, Kenny Oakley, Mike Maple, Wayne Razor, Bob Herring, Alan Funderburg, Buddy Sturdivant, and Kevin Draper.
Bruce Allen Tucker
June 18, 1936 - November 28, 2001
Bruce Allen Tucker, Sr., 65, of White Hall, died Wednesday at his home. He was born June 18, 1936 in the Kedron Community (Rison) to the late Charles Corbitt Tucker and Christabel Jones Tucker.
Mr. Tucker was reared and educated in Rison where he attended the Rison High School. He married the former Mary Lee Christian on April 9, 1955.
Mr. Tucker retired from the Firestone Tire & Service Centers after 30 years of service in 1999. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife; Mary Lee Tucker, two sons; Bruce Allen Tucker and Mike Tucker, both of White Hall; one daughter; Cheryl Hale also of White Hall; two brothers Clifford Tucker of Pine Bluff, Jimmy Tucker of Savannah, Georgia, one sister, Mary Atkinson of Pine Bluff and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Ralph Robinson's Funeral Home. The family will be at the residence of Mike Tucker, 2212 Meadow Pond, White Hall. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, November 30, 2001 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Gary Akers officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery
in Cleveland County.
Robbie Joyce Formby Brown
May 29, 1927 - November 28, 2001
Robbie F. Brown, 74 of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday at her residence. She was born May 29, 1927 in Webster Parish, Louisiana to the late Edgar Fred and Alice King Formby.
Mrs. Brown was reared and educated in Hope, where she graduated from Hope High School. She also attended Ouachita Baptist College. Mrs. Brown married William Holland Brown, Sr. in Hope.
Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her husband; William Holland Brown, Sr. and a brother; Fred Formby.
Mrs. Brown is survived by a son; William Holland Brown, Jr. of Hope, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, November 30, 2001, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son with Reverend Gordon Topping officiating. There will be a private burial at Old Rosemont Cemetery
in Benton following the service.
James S. ( Jim ) Rogers
February 22, 1927 - December 03, 2001
James S. "Jim" Rogers, 74, of Pine Bluff, died at his home on Monday, December 3, 2001. Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on February 22, 1927, he was a son of the late Winthrop Hammond and Gertrude Martha Silcott Rogers. A graduate of high school in Wichita Falls, he served in the United States Army during World War II. He later attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman, Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma, and the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.
As a young man he worked in Houston for Texaco, Inc. He moved to Pine Bluff and joined his father-in-law in the operation of Shaffer Haley, Inc., serving as the company's vice president. During that time he was chosen as Pine Bluff's Realtor of the Year in 1967, and was a member and served as president of the Pine Bluff Board of Realtors. He joined Sears, Roebuck & Company in Pine Bluff as manager of contract sales, working for that company until his retirement.
Mr. Rogers was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pine Bluff, where he had served as a deacon and was a member of the Men of the Church. He was a member for many years of the Pine Bluff Kiwanis Club. He served as a member and vice president of the Executive Steering Committee for the Pine Bluff Convention Center, responsible for the Center's initial design and development.
His survivors include his wife, Ann Starmer Rogers, to whom he was married in Pine Bluff January 17, 1959; a daughter, Victoria Haley Rogers of Playa del Rey, California; a brother, John Winthrop Rogers of Aiea, Hawaii; and a sister, Joanne Kizer of Wichita Falls, Texas.
Memorial services for Mr. Rogers are Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with the Reverends Wm. Lee Kinney and Jeff Price officiating. Memorials are requested to First Presbyterian Church or to Jefferson Regional Medical Center Hospice, both C/O First Presbyterian, 717 West 32nd Avenue, Pine Bluff, AR 71603. Arrangements are by Ralph Robinson & Son.
Gilbert Smith Myers
December 27, 1933 - December 04, 2001
Gilbert Smith Myers, 67, of 607 Thomas Road, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Tuesday, December 4, 2001, at his home. Mr. Myers was born December 27, 1933 in Cleveland County to the late Gilbert Smith and Nora Ryles Myers.
Mr. Myers was reared and early educated in Cleveland County and Jefferson County.
He was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict.
He married Joyce Brazeale on October 5, 1992 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Mr. Myers was a General Superintendent of Construction for the Department of Corrections until his retirement in 1994. He had been employed by the Department of Corrections since 1970.

Myers of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Alvin Myers of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Larry Myers of Bryant, Arkansas, three sisters, Martha Jenkins, Marie Stevens, and Linda Jenkins, all three of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Veazey and one grandson, Tyler Curtis.

Don M. Leibenguth

Don M. Leibenguth, 73, of 715 West 30th Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at his home. Born January 5, 1928 in Frankfort, Indiana, he was the son of the late Russell C. and Susan Good Leibenguth.
Mr. Leibenguth was reared and educated in Pine Bluff. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He joined the United States Army and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Leibenguth retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad after many years of service.
He was a member and served as a deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Pine Bluff. He was also a member of the Men of the Church, Pine Bluff Duplicate Bridge Club, University of Arkansas Alumni Association, Pine Bluff Jazz Club, Jazz Club of Arkansas, and the Arkansas Senior Golf Association.
Mr. Leibenguth is survived by his wife, Bettye F. Leibenguth of Pine Bluff, who he married April 15, 1975, in Pine Bluff, a sister, Mary L. Schmid of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, step-son, Darrell Dorris of Hot Springs, Arkansas, step-daughter, Janis D. Kientz of Jackson, Mississippi, and a granddaughter, Julia V. Kientz of Charlottesville, Virginia.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 P.M. at Robinson's.
