MURFREESBORO, Ark. - Coy Alton "Al" Welch, 66, of Murfreesboro died Monday, March 8, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mr. Welch was born June 11, 1937, in Steele, Mo. He was a farmer, member of AM Vets and Harvest Time Assembly of God Church and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jessica Welch.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Welch of Murfreesboro; four sons, Jim Welch of Hot Springs, Ark., and Steven Welch, William Welch and Randy Welch of Murfreesboro; two daughters, Vickie Hutson and Lucille Sinclair of Murfreesboro; his stepmother, Uldean Culver of Hayti, Mo.; five brothers, Delano Welch of Columbia, Pa., Terry Welch and Martin Welch of Hayti, Edwin Welch of Puxico, Mo., and James Welch of Blytheville, Ark.; eight grandchildren and eight great - grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Latimer Funeral Home with Al Terrell and Jerry Shinn officiating. Burial will be in Roy Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
DOROTHY TOWNSEND
STAMPS, Ark. - Dorothy Lavada Townsend, 77, of Texarkana, Ark., died Friday, March 5, 2004, in a Texarkana hospital.
Mrs. Townsend was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Texarkana.
Survivors include her husband, Oba Townsend of Texarkana; four sons, Melvin Jeane of Burleson, Texas, and David Jeane, Jerry Jeane and Royce Townsend of Texarkana; three daughters, Betty Shields of Hillsborough, Texas, and Peggy Gore and Joyce Reed of Texarkana; one sister, Carrie Corie of Nederland, Texas; one great - aunt, Carrie West of Texarkana; 16 grandchildren; 15 great - grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at Mandeville Baptist Church, Texarkana, with the Revs. James Lindsey and Allen Peoples officiating. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens under direction of Smith Funeral Home.

STAMPS, Ark. - Jewel W. Wall, 63, of Prescott, Ark., died Saturday, March 6, 2004, in a Texarkana hospital.
Mr. Wall was born Aug. 14, 1940, in Wheeling Springs, Ark. He was a truck driver and a Mason of the Whitfield Masonic Lodge 239, Hope, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, Birtie Pauley Wall of Prescott; three sons, Tommy Wayne Wall of Prescott, Wendell Wall of Hope, and David Wall of Forth Worth, Texas; five brothers, Alston Wall, Arthur Wall, Billy Ray Wall and Eugene Wilson of Fort Worth and Curtis Wilson of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Josie Smith of Fort Worth, Janie Hill of Ashdown, Ark., and Shirley Atchison of Beaumont, Texas; nine grandchildren; two great - grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bradley Chapel, Bradley, Ark., with Harold Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery
under direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Bradley Chapel.

Joel Lee Foster, 64, of DeQueen, Ark., died Saturday, March 5, 2004, in Port Lavaca, Texas.
Mr. Foster was born July 10, 1939, in Nowara, Okla. He was retired from B.O.C. Industrial Gases, a member of Family Motor Home Association, The Good Sam's Club, Special military Active Retired Travel Club, and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Lavern Harvey Foster; two daughters, Laurie Lee Penrod of Norfolk, Va., and DeeDee Little of Richmond, Va.; one brother, Jerry Foster of DeQueen; and two granddaughters, Christina and Amanda.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Chapel Hill Cemetery
with Homer Frachiseur officiating. Burial will be under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Hiram Junior Jeans, 77, of Texarkana, Ark., died Saturday, March 6, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Jeans was born Jan. 15, 1927, in DeKalb, Texas. He was retired from W.C. Lee Construction and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jeans of Texarkana; one daughter, Brenda Oats of Texarkana; four sons, Gary Jeans, Donald Jeans, Mickey Jeans and Dennis Jeans of Texarkana; two sisters, Barbara McNabb of Detroit, Texas, and Ella Mae Evans of Orange, Texas; one brother, Bobby Jeans of El Rino, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; five great - grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Texarkana Funeral Home Fuqua - Everett Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Wallace Edgar and Dr. G.W. Alexander officiating.

Mrs. Bruce was born Sept. 13, 1940, in Minerals Springs, Ark. She was retired from GTE and a Baptist.
Survivors include three sons and one daughter - in - law, Jimmy Dewayne Bruce, Gary Thomas Bruce and Donald Jeffery and Tina Bruce of Texarkana; one daughter and son - in - law, Terri and Tony Spangler of Texarkana; one sister, Mildred McBay of Shreveport, La.; and seven grandchildren.

Jewell Westfall Harper Cates, 93, of Texarkana, Ark., died Thursday, March 4, 2004, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Cates was born Oct. 11, 1910, in Wortham, Texas. She was a homemaker, owner of the Smart Shop, a member of Lone Star Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert B. Cates; and one son, Billy R. Harper.
Survivors include two daughters and sons - in - law, Virginia and Charles Faulkner Jr. of Huntsville, Ala., and Millie and Louis Dees of Texarkana; one daughter - in - law, Viola Harper of Wake Village, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 19 great - grandchildren; and two nieces.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Texarkana Funeral Home Fuqua - Everett Memorial Chapel with Drs. Larry C. Hipps and Sammy L. Gilbreath officiating. Burial will be in Ozan Cemetery, Nashville, Ark.

ASHDOWN, Ark. - Harold "Jabo" Altenbaumer, 57, of Ashdown died Friday, March 5, 2004, in Texarkana.
Mr. Altenbaumer was born Oct. 24, 1946, in Alleene, Ark. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jordan Huddleston.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Altenbaumer of Ashdown; two sons, Jamie Altenbaumer of Alleene and Jason Altenbaumer of Ashdown; two daughters, Tammy Huddleston and Toni Imler of Ashdown; his stepmother, Mildred Altenbaumer of Alleene; two brothers, Dallas Altenbaumer Jr. of Alleene and Charles Sanders of Clear Lake, Calif.; three sisters, Melinda Magby of Gillham, Ark., and Deloris Sanders and Rita Green of Texarkana; two stepbrothers, William Stafford of Ashdown and Kenneth Stafford of Benton, Ark.; one stepsister, Shirley Broomfield of Alleene; eight grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

El DORADO, Ark. - Sean Newton, 27, of El Dorado died Thursday, March 4, 2004, in a local hospital.
Mr. Newton was born March 14, 1976, in Magnolia, Ark. He was an employee of Ritchie Grocery Co., a student at South Arkansas University, a member of Junction City Church of Christ and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his parents, Leslie and Larry Sweet of Junction City, Ark., and Homer and Betty Newton of El Dorado; one brother, Brian Newton of El Dorado; two stepsisters, Tracy Cross of Jonesboro, Ark., and Jennifer Graham of Fayetteville, Ark.; two stepbrothers, Dusty Sweet of Junction City and Bill Graham Jr. of El Dorado; and his grandmother, Dorothy McCollum of Texarkana.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donny Hargett and Don Ossman officiating. Burial will be in Dickerson Cemetery, Harrell, Ark.
