David Taylor Chunn

PARAGOULD — David Taylor Chunn, 56, of Paragould died Thursday, Aug. 14, at his residence.

He was born June 2, 1952, in Michigan, the son of Earl and Monnie Chunn. He married the love of his life, Marsha, on Nov. 20, 1976.

He loved riding motorcycles, helping build race cars and was a truck driver and handyman. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Chunn; and sisters, Margaret Chunn and Ruby Norris.

David is survived by his wife, Marsha; daughters, Joy Wortman and Samantha Davis; one son, David Taylor, all of Paragould; brother, Edward Chunn of Walcott; sister, Earline Loucks of Mount Morris, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at a later date.

Julia Kathryn Cooper

JONESBORO — Julia Kathryn Cooper, 91, of Jonesboro died Friday, Aug. 15, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 5, 1916, at Kansas City, Mo., to Alexander and Gertrude Beebee. She was a homemaker and of the Presbyterian belief.

She is survived by a son, Calvin M. Cooper of St. Louis; a daughter, Julianne “Jan” Magee of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, James B. Magee of Jonesboro, Kathryn White of Newburgh, Ind., Calvin “Macy” Cooper IV and Marlo Cooper Stuart, both of St. Louis; and 10 great-grandchildren, Calvin Cooper V, Marshall Cooper, Lexi Stuart and Tori Stuart, all of St. Louis, Sadie Magee, Lacey Magee and Ashton Walton, all of Jonesboro, and Cooper White, Adelyn White and Spencer White, all of Newburgh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Calvin M. Cooper; her parents; and a sister, JoAnn Fairbank.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 31 in Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home at Fort Scott, Kan. Local arrangements are being handled by Roller-Farmers Union.

Earline Dollins

PARAGOULD — Earline Dollins, 88, of Paragould died Friday, Aug. 15, at Jonesboro.

She was born May 14, 1920, in Greene County, the daughter of the late Earl and Lillie Davidson Shearer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Dollins; daughter, Betty Dollins Burton; son-in-law, Leland Gregory; and siblings, Dillon Shearer, Vernell Wigginton, Sue Lamb Wigginton and Mary Kathryn Shearer.

She was retired from Belk-Simpson and a member of West View Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Karolyn Dollins Gregory of Paragould and Brenda and Jimmy Dan Maddox of Jonesboro; sister, Lana Edwards of Paragould; brother, Charles Shearer of Bossier City, La.; grandchildren, Selena Gregory, Lisa Cause, Kathy Gregory, Kim Graham, Mark Maddox, Kevin Burton and Timothy Maddox; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Heath Funeral Home.

Her life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Heath Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Marc Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be sent to West View Baptist Church, 701 West Morgan St., Paragould 72450, or St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, 419 West Highland Drive, Jonesboro 72401.

Wilma Lou Mattix

TRUMANN — Wilma Lou Mattix, 77, of Trumann died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at the family residence.

Mrs. Mattix was born Nov. 13, 1930, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Lizzie Reeves. She was a former employee of Salant and Salant Corp. of Trumann and the Trumann Cedar Park Elementary cafeteria. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Cherokee Village near Hardy and, after his death, she moved back to Trumann.

Mattix was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Mattix; one grandchild, Gene Craig; her parents, Lonnie and Lizzie Wienecke Reeves; and one brother, T.J. Reeves.

Survivors include two sons, Eddy (Cindy) Mattix of Trumann and Stan Mattix of Little Rock; one daughter, Carol Thompson of Tupelo, Miss.; one sister, Wanda Coots of Trumann; three brothers, Mayo (Helen) Reeves of Trumann, Sidney (Martha) Reeves and Wayne Reeves of Kentucky; grandchildren, April and Benji South, Candice and Joey Chaffin, Zachary and Felicia Mattix and Cindy Mattix; six great-grandchildren, Cole Chaffin, Ethan Chaffin, Ryleigh Mattix, Cameron Craig, Jake South and Lauren South; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Private memorial services will be planned at a later date.

John Chisolm

BALLWIN, Mo. — John “Jay” Chisolm, 74, of Ballwin died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center at St. Louis.

He was the loving husband of Carole Chisolm (neé Williamson); devoted father of Kristina Chisolm; and the dear brother of Nannie Lou Norris and Patsy Ruth Pyshnik. He also leaves behind many close family and friends.

Jay graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1955. He worked at Walgreens for 10 years, Barnes-Jewish Hospital for 30 years and Fitzpatrick Pharmacy after retirement.

Funeral services were held Saturday in Schrader Funeral Home at Ballwin. Interment is in Bunker Hill Cemetery at Bunker Hill, Ill.

Visitation was Friday.

Gary ‘Gus’ Davis

CHERRY VALLEY — Gary “Gus” Davis, 59, of Cherry Valley died Saturday, Aug. 16, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 1, 1948, at Memphis, the son of Louis Coleman and Mary Blanche Wymer Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of the home; two sons, Joe Davis of Maryville, Tenn., and Gary Davis of Cherry Valley; three brothers, Bobby, Tommy and Carl Davis; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Thompson-Wilson Wynne Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lewis Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 in the funeral home, (870) 238-9400.

Linda Dianne Herndon

JONESBORO — Linda Dianne Herndon, 64, of Jonesboro died Friday evening at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

James Hitchcock

BLYTHEVILLE — James Joseph Ladale Hitchcock, 45, of Blytheville died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Great Rivers Medical Center at Blytheville.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Hitchcock of Blythe-ville; stepson, Travis Downing of Booneville; stepdaughter, Kimberly Downing of Blytheville; mother and stepfather, Edna and Leonard Yankee of Blytheville; three sisters, Diane Berryhill of Plantersville, Miss., Jeanette Patrick of Steele, Mo., and Stephanie Waldo of Ponotoc, Miss.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation was held Saturday in Wilson Funeral Home at Blytheville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the funeral home with burial in Memorial Park at Blytheville.

Mildred McDaniel

CASEYVILLE, Ill. — Mildred M. McDaniel, 85, of Caseyville died Friday morning, Aug. 15, at the Caseyville Nursing Home.

She was born in Mississippi and was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry (Cathy), Jim (Joyce) and Jack (Lynn) McDaniel; her sisters, Martha Johnston and Edith Boling; her grandchildren, Jimmy (Kelly), Kim, Karrie (Donald), John (Nora) and Leah; and great-grandchildren, Christina, George, Tyler, Bliss, Jimmie, Chance, Blake, Nick, Ashley, B.J. and Charlie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris McDaniel; and her parents, Garfield and Rosie Lee Yates Gilley.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in McDaniel Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be tonight from 5-7 in the funeral home.

Frank Pritchard

March 16, 1946-Aug. 16, 2008

EVENING SHADE — Frank Pritchard, 62, of Evening Shade died Saturday at his home.

Born in Indiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, Hurshel and Elizabeth Pritchard.

Survivors include wife, Betty Pritchard; son, Charles Pritchard; daughters, Renee McDaniel, Frankie Crowe, Georiga Deloach and Josie Morrison; brother, Timmy King; sisters, Millie Bishop and Terrie Williams; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Qualls Funeral Home Chapel at Cave City. Burial will be in Bacon Cemetery at Evening Shade.

Visitation will be Monday night from 6-8 in the family’s home, 95 School St., Evening Shade.

Janice Smith

TRUMANN — Janice Smith, 67, of Trumann died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at St. Bernards Med-ical Center at Jonesboro.

Mrs. Smith was born Sept. 26, 1940. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church at Trumann.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorse Wayne “D.W.” Smith; one brother, Alfred Thorn; and one sister, Sylvia Ballard. She was the daughter of the late Norf and Deedie Slatton Thorn.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Trish and Bryan Tucker of Trumann; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny “Bub” and Debbie Smith of Trumann and Billy Wayne and Susan Smith of Trumann; five grandchildren, Jennifer Davis, Amanda Hartleroad, Leslie Burrow, Danielle Walters and Hollie Tucker; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church at Trumann with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery at Jonesboro.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Wright, Mike Hamilton, James Pagan, Jackie Smith, Lee Ballard and Donnie Pipes.

Honorary pallbearers will be the First Baptist Church family.

Visitation will be held tonight from 5-8 in Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
