Tommy D. Loftis

Tommy D. Loftis, 51, of Beebe died Oct. 22, 2002.

Survivors include sons, Joey Lyle Loftis of Alaska and Coy Dale Loftis of Beebe; a daughter, Launa Morris of West Memphis; stepdaughters, Christina, Barbara and Elizabeth, all of Beebe; his mother, Faye Loftis of Beebe; brothers, Kenneth Cullum of Garner and Bob and Earl Loftis, both of Beebe; sisters, Frances Talbert of North Carolina, Betty Hughes of Beebe, Lou Ellen Lemmons of Lonoke and Shelby Gray of Ward; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral was Oct. 25 at Beebe Church of Christ, with burial in Sylvania Cemetery.

William Vaught Sr.

William “Bill” Vaught Sr., 71, of Beebe died Oct. 22, 2002.

He had worked for Freshour Co. over 10 years.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son, William J. Vaught Jr. of Centerville, Ga.; daughters, Lenora Sims of Beebe, Marilyn Kudelka of Judsonia and Phyllis Weeks of Ward; his mother, Dora Vaught; and a sister, Gloria Huber, both of Granite City, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Oct. 25 at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel, Beebe.

Farron L. Wallis

Farron Leroy Wallis, 48, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002.

Survivors: sons, Justin and Junior Wallis, both of Heber Springs; daughter, Terrah Wallis, Bryant; mother, Vergie Wallis, North Little Rock; brothers, Ferrell Wallis, Beebe, Dewey Wallis, North Little Rock; sister, Bonita Chism, Lonoke.

Funeral was Tuesday at Onia Bethany Baptist Church. Burial was in Pordue Cemetery, Onia, by Roller Coffman Funeral Home.

Charles Lynn Weems

Charles Lynn Weems, 72, of Hazen died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002.

He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and of the U. of A. poultry judging team.

Charles took his commission in the Army and served in Korea where, after commanding troops in battle, he went on loan to the Air Force and had 72 combat missions as an aerial observer.

After his tour of duty was over, he returned home where he engaged in farming until he retired three years ago. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was Sunday School superintendent and a Sunday School teacher. He was past Master of Hazen Masonic Lodge, past Patron of Hazen Chapter #5, Order of the Eastern Star, a former member of the boards of Prairie County Farm Bureau and Prairie Farmers, and a member of the Grand Prairie Cattlemen’s Association.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Christine “Chris” Smith Weems; one sister, Mary Kittler of Carlisle.

Funeral services were Oct. 27, at Calvary Baptist Church. Interment was in the Carlisle Cemetery. Arrangements were by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.

Mary Jane Walley

Mary Jane Walley, 74, of Zapata, Texas, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002.
She was a retired schoolteacher.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Harold E. Walley; four children, Mary Margaret Shelton of Lonoke, Harold E. “H.E.” Walley, Jr. of Kansas City, Mo., Jesse V. Walley of North Little Rock, and Douglas J. Walley of Little Rock; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Willie Kathryn Daniels of Gulfport, Miss.

Funeral services were Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Linda Lou Cotton

Linda Lou Cotton, 57, Little Rock, died Oct. 24, 2002.

Survivors include sons, Norman Stanley, John Cotton, Little Rock; daughters, Rita Webber, Austin, Becky Martindale, Little Rock; three grandchildren.

Graveside services: Monday, Rest In Peace Cemetery. Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home.

Jerry Wade Thrift

Jerry Wade Thrift, 36, of Lonoke died Nov. 4, 2002.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milford Thrift of Cabot.

Survivors include a son, David Foster of Jacksonville; daughters, Tenia Thrift and Shayla Thrift, both of Jacksonville; his mother, Patsy Thrift of Missouri; brothers, Mike Thrift and Terry Thrift, both of Lonoke; sisters, Tammy Coble of Cabot and Debra Thrift of Missouri.

Graveside service was held Thursday at Hicks Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Julia Couch Booher

Julia Couch Booher, 64, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Altheimer, died Nov. 9, 2002.

She was reared in Lonoke, Carlisle and Altheimer. She was a Baptist and office manager.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Jimmie L. Booher; a son, J. Scott Booher of Benton; a daughter, Lee Anne Gillam of Fairbanks, Alaska; a brother, Bill Couch of Batesville; a sister, Jane Hoy of Texarkana; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home, Pine Bluff. Burial will be in Houston, Texas.

Memorials may be made to Houston Hospice.

Raymond McFall Sr.

Raymond “Mac” McFall Sr., age 67 of Jacksonville died Nov. 9, 2002.
He frequently attended functions with the Jacksonville Senior Center where he participated in various activities.

Survivors include one son, Raymond Mike McFall Jr. of Ward; two daughters, Tina Lane of Dexter, Mo., and Cynthia Louise McFall of Austin, Texas; brother, Richard Mc-Fall of Springfield, Mo.; sister, Alice Joe Heart of Orlando, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were Nov. 13, in the chapel of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.

Fermon E. Sweatt

Fermon Edward Sweatt, 74, of Alexander died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002.

He served in the United States Army and served in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son, Tony Sweatt of Little Rock; two daughters, Katherine Dunn of Alexander and Cindy Green of Cabot; one brother, A.D. Sweatt of McDade, Texas; two sisters, Vera Menn of Austin, Texas, and Inez Ainsworth of Franklin, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A gathering of remembrance in honor of Mr. Sweatt was held Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at Griffin-Leggett Forest Hills, Alexander. A celebration of his life was held Monday, Nov. 11, at the Chapel of Griffin-Leggett Forest Hills. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Faye M. Johnson

Faye M. Johnson, 58, died Nov. 10. 2002.

She was office manager for Ark. Metal Buildings in North Little Rock.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Mac Johnson of Cabot; two sons, Johnny Mac Johnson Jr. of Cabot and Keith Johnson; one daughter, Angela Johnson; one grandson; four sisters, Lorene Mauldin and Marie McPherson of Memphis, Pearl Pickard of Kansas City, Mo., and Ellen Eakin of Arkadelphia; four brothers, William Heath, Winford Heath and Shelton Heath all of Memphis, Tenn., and Dwayne Health of Faulkner, Miss.

Funeral services were held at the McArthur Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville, Wednesday, Nov. 13. Graveside services were held at Forest Hill East Cemetery at 2440 Whitten Road in Memphis, Tenn.

The family requests contributions be made to The National Transplant Foundation for Faye Johnson at P.O. Box 1512, Cabot, Ark. 72023. Arrangements by Cabot Funeral Home.
