Virgina Walker
Virginia Gordon Walker, 81, of Pine Bluff, died Jan. 21, 2002 in Harrison.

She is survived by a daughter, Jane Reed of Harrison; three brothers, Robert Neal Gordon of Cabot, Marvin Gordon of Cabot and Otto Gordon of Blytheville; one sister, Geneva Wood of Hilltop Lake, Texas; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 23 at Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial was in Taylor Cemetery near Princeton by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.

Daniel E. Young
Daniel E. Young, age 55, of Cabot, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002.

He is survived by his wife Judy; two sons, Donald Young stationed in Tokyo, Japan and Mike Young of Cabot; two sisters, Bertnice Young and Carol Hunter, both of Salt Lake City, Utah; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Moore’s Jacksonville Fiuneral Home chapel. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Arraangements are by Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.

Vida Cartwright
Vida “Jim” Cartwright, 77, of Sherwood, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002.

She was retired from Maybelline.

Survivors are her son, James Dowell Cartwright Jr. of Ward; two daughters, Rhona Cartwright of Dallas, Texas, Lesa McGhee of Sherwood; sister, Doris Huddle of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services were Monday at the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Liberty Cemetery in Adona.

Nina Eulalee Pound
Nina Eulalee Pound of Little Rock, died Jan. 11, 2002, at the age of 96.

She is survived by a daughter, Raymell Riggs; a grandson; and great-grandson, all of Cabot; a sister, Grace Price of Little Rock; two brothers, Frank Kinney of North Little Rock, and John P. Kinney of Little Rock.

She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock for more than 50 years; member of Order of the Eastern Star, Esther Chapter #217, Little Rock; she was retired after 33 years from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., Little Rock; and was an active member of the Little Rock chapter of Telephone Pioneers of America.

Funeral services were Jan. 14, in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth, Little Rock. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to The Gideons International; Calvary Baptist Church, 1901 N. Pierce St., Little Rock, AR 72207; or to the Beebe Retirement Center, P.O. Box 820, Beebe, AR 72012.

Rance E. Hill
Rance E. “Randy” Hill, 49, of Ward, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002.

He was a project co-ordinator for CBM Construction Company and retired from the Arkansas National Guard.

Surviving are his wife, Holly Covington Hill; two sons, Rance E. Hill II and David Aaron Hill, both of Ward; one daughter, Christy Lynette Hill of Little Rock; his mother, Adell Hill of Ward; two brothers, Jimmy Lee and Kenny Dale Hill, both of Ward; two sisters, Marene Coker of Austin and Verna Watkins of Ward; and two grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday, Jan. 14, at First Baptist Church, Ward, with burial in Monk Cemetery by Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.

Aline Erwin Blakey

Aline Erwin Blakey was born into the loving family of Jennie and Harvey Erwin in Prescott, Ark., on March 13, 1917, and departed this life on July 26, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edward A. Blakey; two brothers, Carl and Leo Erwin; five sisters, Maudine Kozlowski, Faye Shawhan, Geneva Chapman, Mary Lou Pownall and Ella Erwin.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Joan and Jim Wilson and Pat and Larry High, all of Cabot, and one son and his wife, Don and Deb Blakey of North Little Rock. She is also survived by three grandsons and two great-grandchildren.

Aline and Ed met in San Francisco where Ed was serving his country in the Navy. He was soon dispatched to Pearl Harbor where Aline joined him. The bond that developed between these two newlyweds was forever forged with the devastation of Pearl Harbor. After returning to the state of her birth in 1953, she and Ed opened Blake’s TV in downtown North Little Rock. After 20 years of building a successful business, she and Ed sold the store to their son, Don, who has continued the “Mom and Pop” ideals that were so basic to their family.

Aline maintained good health well into her late seventies by playing tennis with her grandsons, tending her beloved cows from the seat of her John Deere and giving the rest of her family advice on Bridge strategy and picking up a ten pin in bowling.
The strength and spirit of our mom will forever be remembered and her spirit and joy of life will continue through her children and grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Sunday, July 28, at Cabot Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dean Lewis officiating. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot.
Pallbearers were sons-in-law Jim Wilson and Larry High; grandsons, Farrell Wilson, Brooks Blakey and Laird High; and longtime family friend, Gary Olson.
A gift of remembrance may be made to the Alzheimer’s Arkansas Association, 10411 W. Markham, Suite 130, Little Rock, Ark. 72205.
Arrangements were by Cabot Funeral Home.

William Mayfield

William Mayfield, 54, of Conway, formerly of Cabot, fied July 22, 2002.
He was a forklift driver.

Survivors include his children, William Mayfield Jr. and Morgan David Mayfield, both of Benton, Jimmy Doyle Mayfield of Clinton, Diane Kay Wheeler of Mayflower, Jennie Burnett of Clinton, Danny Lee Addie of Colorado Springs, Colo., Donald James Addie Sr. of Cabot, Brian Lee Gregory and Travis Lee Gregory, both of Iron Mountain, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild; five sisters, Beatrice Huey of Little Rock, Patricia Law and Loretta Denning, both of Cabot, Pauline Moody of Jacksonville, and Wanda Chandler of Mayflower; brothers, Elmer Mayfield of Cabot, Preston Mayfield of Vilonia and Melvin Mayfield of Little Rock.

Funeral was July 26 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, with burial in Forks Lagrue Cemetery, DeWitt.

Orvan T. Beard

Orvan Thomas Beard, 94, of North Little Rock died July 25, 2002.
He was born in Lonoke County.

Survivors include daughters, Donna Selby and Pat Fielder, both of North Little Rock; a sister, Wynona Evans of North Little Rock; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A family graveside service was held July 27 at Rest Hills Memorial Park, North Little Rock, by Griffin-Leggett-Rest Hills.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 6701 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock.

O’Neal Cochran

O’Neal Cochran, 90, of Beebe died July 24, 2002.
He was a funeral director at Westbrook Funeral Home for 53 years. He was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Clotine Cochran; children, Barbara Blackwood of Sherwood, Sondra Cochran of Cabot, Barbara Williams of Bradford, Jerry Cochran of Houston, Texas, and Owen Cochran of Waxahachie, Texas; a sister, Milded King of California; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was July 27 at Westbrook Funeral Chapel, with burial in Stoney Point Cemetery.

Wanda Fay Grover

Wanda Fay Hankins Grover, 68, of Mandeville, La., formerly of England, died July 24, 2002.

Survivors include her husband, Franklin D. Grover; and her siblings, Wayman, Carl and Bill Hankins, and Frankie Lee.

Graveside service was July 27 at Sylvania Cemetery, Ward.
Memorials may be made to your local Hospice.

Dorothy P. Willis

Dorothy Pearle Willis, 74, of Cabot died July 26, 2002.
Survivors include sons, Clifton Leroy Willis, Lloyd Eugene Willis and Jerry Willis, all of Cabot; daughters, Diane Perucci of California, Beverly Sue McGowen of Missouri, Mary Evelyn Ferguson of Cabot and Misty Elder of California; 10 brothers and sisters; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Tuesday at Sumner Cemetery, with arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.
