Mary Alene Marsh

Mary Alene “Mollie” Marsh, 105, of Lonoke, Ark., died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Ark.

She was born Oct. 26, 1897 in Austin, Ark., to Walter and Lelia Campbell.
Mrs. Marsh was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis, and daughters, Merrill Louise Marsh and Ola Mae Bruce; granddaughter, Gale Price; great-granddaughter, Lindsey Price; three brothers, Homer, Arlis and Hulen Campbell, all of Lonoke, Ark.; and two sisters, Mattie Mae Hayes of Center Ridge, Ark., and Murnie Hester of Malvern, Ark.

Survivors include her son, Clifford Marsh and his wife, Jeanne of El Paso, Texas; son-in-law, David Bruce of Lonoke, Ark.; grandchildren, Jan Mowry and her husband, Carl, of Jupiter, Fla., Mary White and her husband, Jim, of Lonoke, Ark.; great-grandchildren, Jimmy White and his wife, Tanya, of Arkadelphia, Ark., Michelle Mowry of Jupiter, Fla., Christain, Nathan and Zachary Price and their wives of Phoenix, Ariz.; great-great-grandchildren, James E. White of Lonoke, Kristen Kayla White of North Little Rock and Thomas “Gage” White of Arkadelphia; a sister, Oneida McFadden of North Little Rock; and a stepdaughter, Clarice Heffington and her husband Noble of Benton; and a host of other family and friends.

She was a great lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral was Feb. 13 at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke, under the direction of Cabot Funeral Home.

Rita L. Wiens

Rita L. Wiens, 69, of Cabot passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, after a courageous 16-month battle with cancer. She went to the arms of her heavenly Father at her home, surrounded by family and friends. She was born Aug. 17, 1933 in Grant Town, W.Va., to Harold and Mae Kincell.

Rita was a member of Mt. Zion UMC.

She is survived by her husband of 53 1/2 years, John; her mother, Mae Kincell of Cabot; her four children, Jackie of Cabot, John and his wife, Jenny, of Lonoke, Carolyn of Texas, and Paul of Cabot. She is also survived by the two lights of her life, her grandchildren, John Riley Wiens and Elizabeth Rella Wiens of Lonoke.
Arrangements are being handled by Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816. At Rita’s request, she will be cremated.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Feb. 19, for visitation.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Mt. Tabor Road.

The family wishes to express extreme appreciation to Dr. Anthony Buccolo, Dr. Stan Kellar and their staffs for all the compassionate care they provided during Rita’s illness.

Special thanks to Shauna Dorrity of Odyssey Healthcare for her care and compassion during Rita’s final hours.

Sara Ruth Rea

Sara Ruth Rea, 83, died Feb. 13, 2003. She was a resident at Golden Years Manor in Lonoke.

She was a member of the Birta Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Gene Townsley Jamar and Johnnie C. Bransford; and a brother-in-law, Richard Bransford, all of Lonoke. She is also survived by loved ones in Conway, her daughter-in-law, Mary McCauley; a granddaughter, Patricia; a grandson, John; his wife, Tina; and a great-granddaughter, Geri.
Funeral services were held Feb. 17 at Birta Baptist Church, with burial in Pete Jean Ridge Cemetery in Birta.

Marcella A. Byrum

Marcella A. Taylor Byrum went home to be with the Lord Feb. 11, 2003.
She was a member of Caney Creek Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother, a retired school teacher and secretary/clerk of the Caroline Baptist Association.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Rev. W.T. Byrum; three children, Don Byrum (Phyllis) of Benton, Jim Byrum (Carolyn) of Carlisle, and Sue Stewart of Lonoke; eight grandchildren, Jerry Byrum, Curtis Byrum, Jim Byrum, Amy Golden, Mary Jane Tefteller, Nancy Posey, Ruth Ann Blair and Susan Stewart; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Taylor and Kenneth Taylor; and three sisters, Dean Elliott, Georgia Booth and Billie Cheek.

Funeral services were Feb. 14 at Lonoke Baptist Church.

Officiants were Dr. Jerry Byrum and Rev. Jimmy Wallace. Committal service was at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements were by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke.

Memorials may be made to Caney Creek Baptist Church or Lonoke Baptist Church.

Betty Sue Son

Betty Sue Son, 69, of Lonoke died Feb. 14, 2003.
She was a Baptist.

Survivors include a daughter, Velda Woollums of Lonoke; sons, Tommy Goodman of Lonoke, Rocky Goodman of Lonoke and Randy Goodman of Ivanhoe, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Moser of Batesville; and two brothers, Columbus Steele of Little Rock and Walter Steele of Benton.

A celebration of her life was held Feb. 18 at Griffin-Leggett-Rest Hills Chapel, North Little Rock, with interment in Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Ouida G. Menard

Ouida Gwendolyn Menard, 76, of Cabot died Feb. 12, 2003.
She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and the National and Arkansas Teachers Associations.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Gunter of Austin; a sister, Patsy Warner of North Little Rock; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held at Zion Hill Baptist Church, with interment in Sumner Cemetery. North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Hill Baptist Church or the American Diabetic Association.

Philip J. Sheridan, Jr.

Philip J. Sheridan Jr., 52, of Cabot, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Rebsamen Regional Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born Aug. 27, 1950, the son of Philip and Anna Donaldson Sheridan of Omaha, Neb.

He is preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife, Lynne Sheridan of the home; his mother, Anna Donaldson Sheridan; four sons, Philip Karl Sheridan of Berlin, Germany, Mark David Sheridan of Berlin, Germany, Dennis Bayles Jr. and Scott Timothy Bayles, both of Ward; one daughter, Kristy Adcock of Cabot; three sisters, Lynda Sapp, Pat Vescio and Judy Watson; one brother, Mike Sheridan; seven grandchildren, Chris, Kyle, Matt, Katie, Alex and Keri Bayles and Blake Adcock.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816. Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral Home.

William Olen Agee

William Olen Agee of Little Rock died Feb. 16, 2003 at the age of 102.
He was a member and Deacon Emeritus at Second Baptist Church. A life-long resident of Little Rock, he cared for horses as a teenager at Camp Pike during World War I.

He is survived by daughter, Barbara Fawcett of Sylvania; son, Jim Agee of Little Rock; two brothers, Sam Agee of Cabot and Marvin Agee of Little Rock; his sister, Ruby Roudebaugh of North Little Rock; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot.

Floyd B. Jones

Floyd B. Jones, 76, of North Little Rock, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003.
He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, retired after 46 years with Union Pacific Railroad, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, active member of Sylvan Hills Masonic Lodge #754, honorary member of Big Rock and Crescent Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Willie Jones; son, Roger L. Jones of Greenbrier; daughter, LaRue Launius of North Little Rock; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, E.L. Jones of Cabot; sister, Thada Roberts of Huntsville, Ala.

Memorials may be made to Sylvan Hills Masonic Lodge #754 Memorial Fund.
Funeral services were Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery. Masonic Graveside rites by Sylvan Hills Lodge #754.

Frances Louise Jones

Frances Louise Jones, age 82, of Jacksonville died Feb. 13, 2003.
She was a member of the First Assembly God in Jacksonville and longtime employee of Jacksonville Elementary School working in the cafeteria.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Audrey P. Jones; one daughter, Treva and Mogish of Jacksonville; one son, Audrey E. Jones of Cabot; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Feb. 17, in the chapel of Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral Home.
