Virginia Stephens Goetz
Virginia Stephens Goetz, 86, of Stuttgart, widow of Ralph Goetz, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Baptist Health-Stuttgart.
Mrs. Goetz was born April 14, 1923, in Pine Bluff to Clarence Kelly Stephens and Virginia Francis Huselton Stephens. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church of Stuttgart.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Homer, Burnell and Stanley Stephens; and one sister, Naomi Dacus.
Survivors are two daughters, Paula Brasko and husband William and Lisa Bullock and husband Danny, all of Stuttgart; two grandchildren, Lori Kaye Yelvington and Zachary Daniel Bullock, both of Stuttgart; brother, Albert Stephens and wife Nina of Roscoe, Texas; sister Betty Russ and husband Leland of Dallas, Texas; extended family, Christopher Brasko and wife Christina and Ashley Parker and husband Shane, all of Stuttgart; and special caregivers, Jessica Hart and Tiffany Wright.
A private service will be held by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
The family requests memorials be made to Alzheimers Arkansas, 10411 W. Markham St., Suite 130, Little Rock, AR 72205-1409; First United Methodist Church, 307 E. Fourth St., Stuttgart, AR 72160; or Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie, 921 E. Fourth St., Stuttgart, AR 72160.

Anna Blohm Dilday
Anna Blohm Dilday, 99, of Stuttgart died Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Baptist Health Medical Center-Stuttgart.
She was born July 4, 1910, in Stuttgart, Ark., the daughter of Robert John and Ida Rubach Blohm whose families were among the early settlers of Stuttgart.
Ann attended school in the one-room Stahley School which was located about a mile from the Blohm family farm. She attended beauty school in the late 1920s in Little Rock. Upon receiving her beautician’s license she returned to Stuttgart where she managed a beauty/barber shop.
It was 1932 in Stuttgart that she met and married Homer Dilday. They celebrated 66 years of married life before his passing in 1998.
Ann, Homer and other Dilday family members moved from Stuttgart to Tuckerman in 1936. The Dilday family was engaged in rice farming in both Stuttgart and Tuckerman.
Ann was a member of the Tuckerman Garden Club and the Home Demonstration Club serving as secretary-treasurer in both. She was an active member of Tuckerman Methodist Church. Ann also worked as a clerk in Bob Coe Grocery and later as clerk-buyer for Armstrong Mercantile Store. In 1994 Ann and Homer moved back to Stuttgart and transferred their church membership to Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.
Ann was a quite individual yet made friends easily. She was greatly respected by those who knew her. She was a gentle, caring person who spent many years of her life helping and caring for others. She had many talents, but the thing she enjoyed the most was sharing her needlework with family and friends.
Ann leaves behind a daughter, Carolyn and husband Gene Sullivan of Hilton Head, S.C.; a son, Robert and wife Cecelia Dilday of Stuttgart; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. George Rook, are 2 p.m. Saturday at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-7 p.m. Friday at Turpin Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Tuckerman Methodist Church or Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.

Mary Magdalene Atkins
ALMYRA - Mary Magdalene Atkins, 75, died Friday, November 6, 2009, at Baptist Health in Little Rock.
Mrs. Atkins was born Feb. 9, 1934, in McCrory, Ark., to William Earl Pollard and Thelma Blanch Vanlandingham Mack. She had been a cook for DeWitt Public Schools, Kerr McGee and the Mallard Restaurant. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Baptist.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Mack; and a sister, Betty Lake.
Survivors are her husband of almost 60 years, Charles Emmet Atkins; one daughter, Judy (Bobby) Jones of Almyra; five sons, Andy Atkins of DeValls Bluff, Bobby (Glenda) Atkins of Biscoe, Doug (Sherry) Atkins of Gillett, Brent (Debbie) Atkins of Stuttgart and Dennis (Angie) Atkins of Greers Ferry; sister, Ruth McNeely of West Memphis; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Jim Hobbs, are 2 p.m. Monday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial following in Almyra Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Turpin Funeral Home.

Charley A. Lyons
Charley A. Lyons, age 73, of Humphrey went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 7, 2009.
Born in Humnoke, Arkansas, on December 28, 1935, he had lived his adult years in the Humphrey area. Mr. Lyons was retired from Riceland Foods after 35 years of diligent service. He was a husband and father, and member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he served for over thirty years as an ordained deacon.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Walsie Lyons of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Mack Lyons of Stuttgart, Arkansas; one son, Bobby Charles Lyons; two brothers, Mac Lyons and Henry Lyons; and one sister, Johnnie Lyons.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Lyons; two sons, Terry (Jolynn) Lyons of Searcy, Arkansas, and Kerby (Kelli) Lyons of Southlake, Texas; three brothers; Scarler (Mary) Lyons of Stuttgart, Arkansas; Bobby (Ellen) Lyons of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Billy Lyons of Irving, Texas; five sisters; Edna (Buddy) Hancock of Stuttgart; Julia (Vern) Sargeant of Ione,
California; Laura Dewalt and Eula (Jack) Jackson of Arlington, Texas; Faye Hainley of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Hazel Lyons of Lonoke, Arkansas; and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Humphrey with Bro. Sam Morgan and Bro. Johnnie Partridge officiating. Burial will follow in Frazier Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home.
The family requests memorials to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

Johnnie Edward "Bo" Longnecker Sr.
Johnnie Edwin “Bo” Longnecker Sr., 82, of Stuttgart passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009.
Mr. Longnecker was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Stuttgart to William and Olga Stovesand Longnecker. He was a farmer and member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He was also a former member of Fairmount Ruritan.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Longnecker; four brothers, Floyd, Howard, Ray and Larry Longnecker; and a sister, Ellene Hildebrand.
Survivors are two sons, Johnnie Longnecker Jr. and wife Brenda of Stuttgart and Mike and Kerry Longnecker of Slovak; two granddaughters, April Rodgers and husband Bradley of Stuttgart and Megan McLain and husband Jay of DeWitt; and two great-grandchildren, Drew and Kathryn Rodgers.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home.
The family requests memorials be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Paul E. Jones
EL DORADO, Ark. – Paul Everett Jones, 66, formerly of Humphrey, Ark., died Thursday, November 19, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Jones was born March 19, 1943, in Humphrey to Ben E. and Ester Bradshaw Jones. He was a retired chemical plant operator and a Baptist.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Jones.
Survivors are three sons, David Jones, Bruce Jones and Sidney Jones of El Dorado; brother, Richard Jones; sister, Francis Dennis of El Dorado; 12 grandchildren, Alexandra, Matthew, Andrew, Wesley, Chad, Jessica, Kailey, Jolie, Holly, Rebecca, Catherine and Brittany; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Keegan.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Flynn Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart, Ark.
Visitation is 5-6 p.m. Friday at Turpin Funeral Home.
