Flossie Pool Loughary
Flossie Pool Loughary, 88, of Stuttgart died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Baptist Health-Stuttgart.
Flossie was born September 3, 1921, in Harrisburg, daughter of James and Ada Hambers.
She was a retired clerk and member of Southside Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Dallas Pool and Luther Loughary; and a son, Bruce Pool.
Survivors are her children, Larry (Ruby Jane) of Gainesville, Texas, Danny (Kathy) Pool of Stuttgart, Gin (Joe) Fisher of McAllen, Texas, Barbara Carter of Fort Smith and Susan Davenport of Lewisville, Texas; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren with one of the way; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Gregg Greenway, will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home.
The family requests memorials be made to Southside Baptist Church.

Mary Mae Goodwin
Mary Mae Goodwin of Little Rock died May 8 at Parkway Health Center in Little Rock.
She was born Oct. 6, 1918, to James Henry Marsh and Bessie Belle Guss Marsh in Maysville.
She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Decatur High School in 1936 and attended the University of Arkansas.
She is predeceased by her husband, Harry O. Goodwin; her son, James F. Goodwin of Little Rock; one sister, Geneva Buckner, and three brothers, Clarence Marsh, Randolph Marsh and Delmo Marsh.
She was retired from the Sales and Use Tax Division of the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.
She was manager of Cordell’s Health and Nutrition Store for several years in the late 1950s and worked at Hancock Fabrics in the 1960s.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane Davis and her husband, Herbert, of Fort Smith and Kay Coleman and her husband, Darrel, of Little Rock; grandchildren Louis Davis and his wife, Sandy, of Springhill, TN; Barbara Davis Woodring and her husband, David, of Fort Smith; Kathy Coleman McLendon and her husband, Michael, of Franklin, TN; and Greg Coleman and his wife, Laura, of Plano, TX; a daughter-in-law, Janice Goodwin of Little Rock and her children, Mike Harris and his wife, Rebecca, of Little Rock, Ali Breeding and her husband, Blake, of Little Rock and Nicole Hulse and her husband, Aaron, of Oxford, MS; 14 great-grandchildren, Drake and Sydney Davis; Woody and Abigail Woodring; Cole and Kate McLendon; Emma, Elizabeth, and Jack Coleman; Michael and Alex Harris; Katherine and Anna Breeding and Joshua Hulse.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock for 54 years.
Funeral services, conducted by Dr. Randy Hyde, were held at Calvary Baptist Church in Little Rock.
Burial, conducted by Rev. Louis Davis, was in DeWitt Cemetery May 12.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren and their spouses.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, P. O. Box 1897, Little Rock, AR 72203 or to the donor’s favorite church or charity.

Cora Mae Dyce Gordon
Cora Mae Dyce Gordon, 83, of DeWitt, died May 7 at Baptist Health Care Center in Little Rock.
She was born May 14, 1925, to Christoper Hill and Betsy Ada Owens.
She had worked for the DeWitt Shoe Factory and had owned a small truck stop.
She received many plaques and awards in her lifetime, the most recent being first runner-up in the AHCA District and State Queen pageant.
She was a member of New Life Fellowship Church in DeWitt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Barbara A. Dyce and William E. Dyce; and her husband, Edgar L.E. Dyce.
Survivor include her daughter, Clarice Tolbert and her husband, Carl, of DeWitt; two sons, Jimmy Dyce and his wife, Jenny, of Holly Grove and Toney Dyce and his wife, Debbie, of West Helena; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held May 11 at New Life Fellowship Church in DeWitt and burial was in Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart by McKinzie Funeral Home of DeWitt.

Paula Annette Hammond
Paula Annette Hudson Hammond, 44, of Stuttgart, died May 19 at her home.
She was born Nov. 6, 1964, in DeWitt to R.C. “Son” Hudson and Frances Scroggins Hudson.
She was a graduate of St. Charles High School and attended Phillips Community College. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Edward Hudson; a sister, Frances Carol Hudson Dooley; and a grandmother, Roxie Brinker.
Survivors are her husband, Ronald J. “Buddy” Hammond; two stepsons, Chad Hammond of Poyen and Eddie “Bud” Kirchoff of Gillett; two stepdaughters, Devon Hammond of Malvern and Savannah Kirchoff of Gillett; her mother, Frances Hudson of St. Charles; four brothers, Robert Hudson and Gary Hudson of West Helena, David Hudson of Hot Springs and Richard Hudson of Dover, TN; and three sisters, Joyce Strain of Bayou Meto, Nancy Cooper of Pryor, OK, and Ruby Martin of Lavaca.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Todd Smith, were held May 22 at First Missionary Baptist Church of St. Charles.
Burial followed in Gillett Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.

Billy Eugene Dickson
Billy Eugene Dickson, 79, formerly of DeWitt, died May 25 in Conway.
He was born March 6, 1930, to Lyle and Arvella Dickson, now deceased.
He was also preceded in death by sisters Imogene Berg and Louise Ratliff and brother Ray Freeman.
He is survived by wife Marilyn (Adams) Dickson of Naylor; daughters Penny Jones Dickson of Morrilton and Melinda Buchanan of Cabot; sons Larry Dickson of Ward, Gary Dickson of Cabot, Derrick Dickson of Conway and Russell Dickson of Naylor; grandchildren Misty Wyles, Cher Buchanan, Chance Buchanan, Samantha Dickson, and Barron Dickson; great-grandsons Preston and Jayson Wyles; sisters Lynda K. Mortz, Joyce Dickson, Loretta Wortham, Wanda Bouyer; brother Joe Freeman; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service were held May 2 at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home in Conway, officiated by Bro. Melburn Hill.

Gwendolyn May Jones
Gwendolyn “Toppy” May Hurt Jones, 87, of Almyra, died May 22. She was born April 27, 1922, to William Blant and Mollie Davidson Hurt.
She attended Needmore School, was a homemaker and was a member of Almyra Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert “Bud” Jones; a sister, Marilyn Bennett and a niece, Gwen Wheeler.
Survivors are her three nieces, Jerry Robnett of Stuttgart, Barbara Meins of DeWitt and Jane Harrison of DeWitt and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held May 25 at Essex Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ty Huitt officiating.
Burial was in Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens by Essex Funeral Home of DeWitt.

Grace Marie Marrs
Grace Marie Roberts Marrs, 92, of Crocketts Bluff, died May 24.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Home Demonstration Club and St. Charles Baptist Church, of which she was treasurer for many years.
She was born Oct. 14, 1916, in Georgetown to John H. and Alice Viola Hensley Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell Marrs; and three brothers, Jeff Townsend, Hershel Roberts and John Roberts.
Funeral services were held May 27 at St. Charles Baptist Church with burial in Crocketts Bluff Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home of DeWitt.

Bennie Murl James
Bennie Murl James, 66, of DeWitt died May 28 at DeWitt Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born March 1, 1943, in DeWitt to Pete and Bernice Drye James.
He was a member of Hagler Baptist Church, served his country in the United States Navy and was retired from Lennox Industries in Stuttgart.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Mary James of DeWitt; one daughter, Katherine Williams and her husband, Russell, of DeWitt; one grandchild, Erin Williams of DeWitt; four brothers, Johnny James, Martin James and his wife, Judy, Earl James and his wife, Cathy, and Ricky James and his wife, Vicky, of DeWitt; four sisters, Lennie Carroll, Joyce Noe, Twila Allen and her husband, Edward, and Mary Garrison and her husband, Randy, of DeWitt; and a host of nieces, nephews other family and friends.
Funeral services were held May 30 at Hagler Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Dumond and Larry Bishop officiating.
Burial was in Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens in DeWitt by McKinzie/Wilson Funeral Home.
