PARAGOULD -- Lavern K. Gray, 82, of Paragould died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at his residence.
Arrangements will be announced by Heath Funeral Home of Paragould.
Grice
OSCEOLA -- Theola Grice, 52, of Osceola died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at the VA Hospital in Memphis. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Jones Grice of Detroit; a son, Dwayne Jones Sr. of Detroit; a daughter, Edwuana Grice of Detroit; four sisters, Bert Ella Cummings Marshall of Osceola, Jackie Bausley of Arlington, Texas, and Mildred Bausley McClain and Elenora Bausley, both of Detroit; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola, with the Rev. Cecil Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Whiteside Cemetery
at Osceola under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Guthrie
SMITHVILLE -- Louise Ellen Guthrie, 78, of Smithville died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at St. Bernard's Medical Center.
Born in Smithville, she was a homemaker and an active member of Smithville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin Guthrie of the home; two sons, James Guthrie of Arkadelphia and Joe Guthrie of Dexter, Mo.; two daughters, Ellujean Thacker of Smithville and Levenia Huskey of Strawberry; one sister, Imogene Davis of Black Rock; one brother, Jearl Dailey of Blytheville; nine grandchildren, Darian Thacker, Donnie Thacker, Jennifer Guthrie, Jessica Guthrie, Leah Guthrie, Derrick Huskey, Mica Guthrie, Mandy Crowe and Willie Joe Huskey; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Smithville Baptist Church, with Keith Marlin and Keith Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Smithville Cemetery
under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Morgan, Mark Erwin, Mike Emison, Rickey Goff, John Lillard, Clint Burrow and Cass Burrow.
Honorary pallbearers will include Ben Foley, Larry Burrow, Danney Foley, Darian Thacker, Donnie Thacker, Derrick Huskey and Willie Joe Huskey.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Hayes
GRAND SALINE, Texas -- Olene Hayes, 84, of Grand Saline, formerly of Swifton, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003.
Born in Lawrence County, she was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Grand Saline.
Survivors include one son, Jim Hayes of Lowell, Ind.; one daughter, Patsy Dolberry of Grand Saline; one brother, Paul Huskey of Saffell; 7 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred T. Hayes.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Cord Baptist Church, with Gary Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Ward Cemetery
at Saffell under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Hoggard
CONWAY -- Jim A. Hoggard, 58, of Conway, formerly of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at Conway Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lonoke, he was a former mayor of Conway and owned Jim A. Hoggard Financial Services. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Susan S. Hoggard of Conway; a son, Jay Hoggard of Conway; four daughters, Misty Young and Hillary Simmons, both of Mount Vernon, and Cherish Hoggard and Haven Hoggard, both of Little Rock; two sisters, Peggy Keller of Lonoke and Betty Keller of Lake Village; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, with Dr. Robert Crossman officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway.
Memorials may be made to the athletics department at the University of Central Arkansas or the music department of Grace United Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Lewis Ervin Hughes Jr., 26, of Jonesboro who died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at The Regional Medical Center at Memphis, have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Emerson Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.
The Rev. Kenneth Hargrave will officiate, and burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.
A lifelong Jonesboro resident, he was an associate manager at Dixie Cafe in Jonesboro and was a 1996 graduate of Nettleton High School. He was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include his wife, Leah Newkirk Hughes of Jonesboro; his parents, Lewis Ervin Sr. and Deborah Walker Hughes of Jonesboro; one brother, Tommy Dewayne Hughes of Jonesboro; his paternal grandparents, John and Annie Hughes of Poughkeepsie; and his maternal grandparents, V.T. and Hazel Walker of Jonesboro.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Clark, John Hill Jr., David Bailey, Jason Veal, Brandon Fuller and Larry Busch.
Honorary pallbearers will include Tim Newkirk, Jace Gasaway, Duncan Allison, Johnny Moore and employees of the Dixie Cafe in Jonesboro.

POCAHONTAS -- Martha Jane Lee, 56, of Pocahontas, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at Beverly Healthcare in Jonesboro. She was of the Pentecostal belief.
Survivors include three sisters, Edna Bates of Sparta, Mich., Eula Mae Hawk of Clyde, Texas, and Mary Prakes of Pocahontas; four brothers, Sterling Lee of Imboden, Carol Lee of Stokes, Junior Lee of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Jerry Lee of Bono.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Mary L. Baker Lee, and two brothers.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Cox-Waymon Funeral Home in Pocahontas, with Rick Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Strangers Home Cemetery
near Alicia.
Moore
Annie Beatrice Wilson Moore, 86, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at St. Elizabeth's Place.
Born in Van Buren, she was a homemaker and lived in the Jonesboro area most of life.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Moore and Randy Moore, both of Jonesboro; three daughters, Jannice Metcalf and Fay Carter, both of Jonesboro, and Joann Scott of Shreveport, La.; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kennett Moore; one son, Kennett Moore Jr.; her parents; four sisters; and one brother.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pine Hill Cemetery, with Don Vuncannon officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery
under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Carter, Barry Scott, Josh Moore, Keith Moore, Steve Metcalf, Chris Metcalf, Ken Metcalf and Todd Metcalf.

Obarts
POCAHONTAS -- Jessie Mae Obarts, 80, of Pocahontas, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at Randolph County Medical Center in Pocahontas.
Born in the Clear Lake community, she moved to Pocahontas 54 years ago and was a retired hairdresser and a member of Northside Freewill Baptist Church.
She had no immediate survivors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of the House-Gregg Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Burial will follow in Crossroads Cemetery
near Portia.
Visitation will from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
