Mr. Larry James Jones

Mr. Larry James Jones, age 69, resident of Grannis, Ark., died Friday, June 15, 2007 at his home.

He was born January 15, 1938 in Knoxville, Iowa. He was a retired truck driver and he enjoyed going fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife Michaela “Mike” Urias Jones of Grannis Ark.; two daughters, Dorrie Lynn Harper of Memphis, Tenn and Candi Sue Jones of Ottoawa, Iowa,; two sons, Jeffrey A. Jones of Grannis, Ark and Troy Jones of Buffalo, New York,; two grandchildren, Amber Harper of Green Rock, Illinois and Travis Harper of Connecticut.

There are no funeral arrangements at this time. Arrangements are by Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas.

Mrs. Dorothy Marge (Heck) Lightfoot

Dorothy Marge (Heck) Lightfoot, wife of the late Reverend Arthur James Lightfoot, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Baptist Medical Center, at the age of 81.

She resided in Little Rock Arkansas, where she remained working full time for the family's restaurant for twenty-three years.

She was born in Arrowsmith, Illinois, and is preceded into heaven by her parents, Gabriel Heck and Savannah (Porter) Heck. She is survived by her two brothers, Homer Heck of Winter Haven, Florida, and Lester Heck of Jacksonville, Florida. Seven children, Betty Irene Wiseman of Springhill, Florida, William James Lightfoot of Benton, Arkansas, Roy Lee Lightfoot of Little Rock, AR; Phyllis Ann Rahe of Republic, Kansas, Kenneth Dewayne Lightfoot of Little Rock, AR; Linda Sue Fields of Bryant, AR; Michael David Lightfoot of DeBary Florida, sixteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all. She remains the example of selflessness and love to all who knew her.

The memorial and visitation for Mrs. Lightfoot's family will be at the Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home in Little Rock on Monday, June 18, 2007, evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will begin in the Chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, June 19, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Horatio Cemetery at 3:00 in the afternoon.

Mrs. Nina Ruth Krantz

Mrs. Nina Ruth Krantz, age 65, a resident of Umpire AR, died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at her home.

She was born February 21, 1942 in Walnut Ridge, AR to Charles Dewey and Dovie Sis McGee Toye. She was a retired poultry grower and a member of the Athens Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Krantz was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Dee Krantz; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Dana White of Umpire, AR; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Risa Krantz of De Queen; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Juanita Toye of De Queen and Charles L. and Stella Toye of Mena, AR; two grandchildren, Jayden White and Ashley Krantz; and number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Krantz will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 in the Athens Missionary Baptist Church with Travis Lane and Kenny Fant officiating. Burial will follow in the Burg Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 17 at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks.

Mrs. Lynn Jones Vaught

Mrs. Lynn Jones Vaught, age 58, a resident of Dierks, AR, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at her home.

She was born February 25, 1949 in Dierks to Harrison and Agnes Sherman Jones. She was a retired guard for Weyerhaeuser and was a member of the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Vaught was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.D. Vaught; a brother, Sherman Jones; and a sister, Joyce Peterson.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Angie Vinyard of Dierks; one sister, Martha Dowdy of Nashville, AR; and three step-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Vaught will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 in the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks with Rev. J.W. Gilbert and Chaplain Robert Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the McHorse Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The Family will receive friend from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 17 at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks.

Mr. Mack Henry "Pud" Baxter

Mack Henry “Pud” Baxter, age 30, of Wickes, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in Wickes.

He was born January 1, 1977 in Mena, Arkansas. He was a farm hand by profession and a loving son, brother, step brother, grandson, uncle, fiancé, and friend.

Survivors are:

Father: Steve Baxter and his wife Lisa of Linden, Texas

Mother: Fern Dering and her husband Rocky of Wickes, Arkansas

Brothers: Steve Baxter, Jr. and his wife Sherlene of Wickes, Arkansas Scotty Baxter of Bernice, Louisiana Robert Verdic of Okanawa, Japan

Sister: Betsy Pearson of DeQueen, Arkansas

Grandparents: Barbara Verdic of Scotch Plains, New Jersey Beth Rose of Fayetteville, Arkansas

Step Father: Bobby Verdic, Jr.

Step Brothers: Russell Baxter of Linden, Texas Danny Verdic of Missouri

Step Sisters: Brandy Baxter of Little Rock, Arkansas Toni Ferguson of Missouri Rebecca Michelle Dering of Texas

Step Great Grandfather: Anthony Verdic of Scotch Plains, New Jersey

Fiancé: Natasha Parker of Wickes, Arkansas

Nephew: Andrew Baxter of Monroe, Louisiana

He was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Baxter and a step brother, Shawn Dering.

Graveside services will be Friday, June 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove with Brother Scott Ray officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Steve Baxter, Sr., Earl Evans, Steve Baxter, Jr., and Scott Baxter.

Mr. James David Wray

James David Wray, age 78, resident of Ashdown, Arkansas, died Thursday, June 14, 2007 in the Christus St. Michael Hospital, Texarkana, Texas.

He was born to James Crockett and Glenna Jean Ferrell Wray at Corpus Christi, Texas, on January 23, 1929. He was retired from Mobil Pipe Line, and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Danny Wayne Parker.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Shirley Mae Smith Wray of Ashdown, Ark.; one son, William Wray of Lockesburg, two daughters and son-in-law, Glenna Mears of Alleene, Arkansas, and Pat and Gale Wright of Ashdown, Ark.; one brother, Paul Wray of Lockesburg, Ark.; six grandchildren, Ernie Merrell, Tim Merrell, Mike Parker, Sandy Edgar, and Elshia Stone all of Ashdown, Ark.; and William Wray of Lockesburg, 10 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. James Wray will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2007, in the Mt. Ida Cemetery with Bro. Charles Ligon officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Ark.

Mrs. Estie Sillavan

Mrs. Estie Pearl Brandon Sillavan, age 99, resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.

She was born to Jasper Calvin and Emma James Brandon at Dierks, Arkansas, on October 25, 1907.

She was a retired employee of Mountaire Poultry Corp, and a member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church of De Queen. She enjoyed gardening, canning, mowing the yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Icie Crisp, Hazel Tollett, and Dessie Brazile, and in 1993, her husband, Leon Sillavan.

She is survived by a step-daughter, Norma Lee Tillman of Salisbury, Maryland, three step-grandchildren, one nephew, Harold Brazile of Amarillo, Texas, one niece, Betty Cowling of Amarillo, Texas, and a special friend, Marian Chandler of De Queen.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2007 in the Allen Cemetery, Dierks, Arkansas with Rev. Oscar Ball officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mr. Dallas Carl Keller

Dallas Carl Keller, age 79, a resident of Foreman, AR, died Monday, June 11, 2007 at his home.

He was born September 2, 1927 in Little River County, AR to Lawrence and Birdie Johnson Keller. He was a Merchant Marine for 34 years, retiring at the rank of Captain. He was a long distance truck driver, Little River County Sheriff-Collector from 1985 to 1990, and was a member of the Foreman First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Carol Keller Wallace; and two sisters, Doris Cross and Ruth Altenbaumer.

He is survived by his wife, Ada Ruth Mesamore Keller; daughters, Lori Mitchell of Texarkana, AR, and Chris Torres of Texas City, TX; a son, Donnie LaVoice of Foreman; two sisters, Beulah Eddinton of Dallas, TX, and Eunice Lloyd Smith of Foreman; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Keller will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007 in the Dollarhide Cemetery in Foreman with Rev. Gary Harris and Rev. James Shaddox officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.

Visitation will be at the Keller home in Foreman on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 6 p.m-8 p.m.
