Evelyn Linnea Curtis

Graveside services for Evelyn Linnea Curtis, 81, of Vacaville will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery Chapel. The Rev. Stuart Drake will officiate.

Born Dec. 2, 1918, in Berkeley, Mrs. Curtis died Aug. 8, 2000, in Vacaville.

A homemaker for 58 years, Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Kings Daughters & Sons International and the First Covenant Church in Oakland.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Curtis of Alameda; and sister, Edna Buel of Vacaville.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Arrangements are under the direction of Vaca Hills Chapel.

George Terry Martin

Graveside services for George Terry Martin, 83, of Fairfield will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rockville Cemetery. The Rev. Louis Valenzuela will officiate. Inurnment will be at Rockville Cemetery.

Born Jan. 26, 1917, in Lublin, Poland, Mr. Martin died Aug. 6, 2000, at home.

A Solano County resident for 51 years, Mr. Martin served in the Air Force for 20 years from 1941 to 1961. Before retiring as a master sergeant, Mr. Martin served as a medical service technician and physician's assistant. He was then employed in Civil Service at Travis Air Force Base for 16 years.

He was a member of E Clampus Vitus of California and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Miki, of Fairfield; sons, Bruce W., Kent T. both of Fairfield; daughters, Jeanette L. and Donna G., both of Fairfield; granddaughter, Sarah L. of Oakville, Wash.; brother-in-law and his wife, Shigekatsu and Minako Kikuchi of Chitose, Hokaido, Japan; sister-in-law and her husband, Midori and Ted Osmer of Ramsey, N.J.; and sister-in-law, Keiko Kikuchi of Chitose.

Memorial contributions can be made to NorthBay Hospice, 1010 Nut Tree Road, Suite 205, Vacaville, 95687.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Natividad Rivas Nunez

A visitation for Natividad Rivas Nunez, 45, of Walnut Grove will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Moralia, Mexico.

Born Feb. 4, 1955, in Mexico, Mr. Nunez died Aug. 5, 2000, in a vehicle accident.

A resident of Walnut Grove for 15 years, Mr. Nunez worked as a sprinkler system installer. He was a loving father, and was expecting his first two grandchildren this month.

He is survived by his wife, Florina, of Mexico; sons, Jose of Ridgecrest, Eduardo of Bakersfield and Javier of Mexico; and daughters, Leticia, Maria and Maricela, all of Mexico.

Bob Cogorno

A funeral for Bob Cogorno, 64, of Vacaville will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father William Feeser of St. Mary's will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Feb. 20, 1936, in Oakland, Mr. Cogorno died Aug. 5, 2000, in Vacaville.

A Vacaville resident for 21 years, Mr. Cogorno worked in the insurance industry for 40 years, and most recently was a cruise agent.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy of Vacaville; son, Rob of Washington; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Terri of Windsor; daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Randy Mills of Vacaville; father, James of Oakland; sister, Janet Cogorno of Whittier; brother-in-law, Sherman Good of San Leandro; grandchildren, Rob Lefever of Vacaville, Tony, Jeff and Matt Cogorno of Windsor; many cousins, nephews and one niece.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donor's favorite charity.

John Clayton Hussey

A mass of the resurrection for John Clayton Hussey, 69, of Vacaville will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father William Feeser will officiate. Interment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born June 3, 1931, in Iowa, Mr. Hussey died Aug. 6, 2000, at David Grant Medical Center.

A resident of Vacaville for 14 years, Mr. Hussey retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant after 35 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Maria of Vacaville; sons, Brandon, James of Vacaville, John of Rome, N.Y., Wyman of Missouri, Jette of Oklahoma, Jalene Riley of Tulsa, Okla.; daughters, Jalene Riley of Tulsa, Wylene Albertson of Missouri; and 10 grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Rita Knickerbocker

A funeral for Rita Knickerbocker, 70, of Fairfield will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Temple Baptist Church. Pastor Robert Lewis of Temple Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born March 30, 1930, in Hague, N.Y., Mrs. Knickerbocker died Aug. 8, 2000, at home.

A homemaker, Mrs. Knickerbocker was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Hooks, Anne Mincey, Alta Cooper, Margaret Payne, Ellen Waters all of Fairfield; sons, Walter Waters of New York, Ernest and Richard Waters of Massachusetts; brothers, Rolland and Reginald Jordon of New York; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Fairfield Funeral Home.

Don S. Norton

At his request, no services will be held for Don S. Norton, 47, of Vacaville.

Born Feb. 26, 1953, in Alameda, Mr. Norton died Aug. 6, 2000, at home.

A resident of Vacaville for 19 years, Mr. Norton co-owned and operated D&D Union 76 station in Vacaville. He coached T-ball and California Youth Football.

He played on various softball, basketball and golf leagues. He enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing and traveling.

Mr. Norton is survived by his wife of 28 years, Karen; daughters, Melody and Michell of Vacaville; son, Mark of Vacaville; parent, Wanda Norton of West Pittsburg; sisters, Donda Mellor of West Pittsburg, Toni Elliott of Salmon, Idaho; brother, Darrell of Tracy; granddaughter, Meliya Norton of Vacaville and many family and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Neptune Society.

Carl L. Freitas

A Catholic Prayer Service for Carl L. Freitas, 87, of Oakland will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. The Rev. Desmond O'Reilly will officiate. Interment will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Oct. 6, 1913, in Fairfield, Mr. Freitas died Aug. 7, 2000, in Oakland.

A Fairfield resident for 63 years, Mr. Freitas graduated from Armijo High School. He was a purchasing agent for two companies - Grandberg Pump and Meter, and Parsons Automatic Scale - for more than 30 years.

A member of the Urquhart Memorial Concert Band for 40 years, Mr. Freitas also conducted his own band under the name of 'The Don Lewis Orchestra' for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Oakland and a former member of the Oakland Elks. He was a former president of Eagles Lodge in Fairfield.

Mr. Freitas is survived by his wife of 30 years, Edna of Oakland; son, Donald of Austin; stepson, Donald Oakes of Oakland; sister, Olivia Freitas of Santa Cruz; grandchildren, Erin and Corey Hoover of Hanford; and one great-grandchild.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

John 'Jack' M. King

John 'Jack' M. King, a 50-year Vacaville resident and owner of Vacaville's oldest residential and commercial real estate brokerage, Talbot Realty, died Aug. 8, 2000, at Vaca Valley Hospital after a long illness. He was 74.

A service of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Vacaville. Pastor Lester Seto will officiate.

Inurnment will be private.

Mr. King was remembered, Wednesday, as a kind, fair and well-respected member of the local business community.

'He's probably the last vestige of the old real estate community that I grew up with,' said Steve Kappel, owner of Kappel & Kappel Realtors, Inc.

'I'm talking about Harry Talbot, whom Jack bought the business from, and Etheal Gilley, Ken Skewes, Lucille Spengler, Jim Nolan, Glen Miller, Lillian Linquist - that was the Vacaville real estate community. We were just new guys on the block.'

Archie Humphrey, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Norcal Waste Systems, Inc., and a friend and business associate of Mr. King's, said 'He was a really kind and fair person. He was very valuable to the community. He had a great sense of humor and a good attitude.'

Born Feb. 9, 1926, in San Pedro, Mr. King graduated from the University of California, Davis, in 1952.

In the early 1960s, he went to work for Harry Talbot, owner of Talbot Realty. He purchased the brokerage from Talbot in 1974, naming it Jack King Realty, Inc., dba Talbot Realty. He sold the business two years ago.

Mr. King took great pride in his profession. He often referred to the real estate brokers of his era as 'good old real estaters.'

Mr. King loved Vacaville and its people. He enjoyed driving around town visiting old friends.

Mr. King is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marjorie; son, David of Vacaville; son, Phillip of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Debra of Vacaville; daughter, Jill of Vacaville; granddaughter, Janell King of Vacaville; sister-in-law, Helen Byrnes of Reno; and loving caregiver, Bertha Vigil of Vacaville.

Memorial contributions can be made to Mark's Growing Center, 311 Parker St., Vacaville, CA 95688, or the Alzheimer's Association of the Greater Sacramento Area, 4000 El Camino Ave., Sacramento, CA 95816.

Arrangements are being handled by Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.

Orrington L. 'Orry' Arnold

A funeral for Orrington L. 'Orry' Arnold, 41, of Suisun City will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Solano Valley Mortuary. Chaplain Lee Shaw will officiate.

Mr. Arnold died Aug. 6, 2000 after an accident.

Born April 4, 1959 in Chandler, Ariz., he lived in Suisun City for 28 years. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army Officer Special Operations Division/medical evacuation unit. He was also a special education teacher.

Mr. Arnold is survived by his parents, Arthur and Ruby of Suisun; sister, Artice E. of Hayward; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation for close friends and family will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Friday in Solano Valley Mortuary.

Myrtle May Liscoe

At her the request, there will be no services held for Myrtle May Liscoe, 98, of Vacaville. Burial will be in Skyview Memorial Lawn.

Mrs. Liscoe died Aug. 9, 2000, at her home after a long illness.

Born Aug. 8, 1902 in Clancy, Mont., she lived in Vallejo for 12 years and Vacaville for 46 years. She was a homemaker. She was a very active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Mrs. Liscoe is survived by her daughter, Juanita Bornshein of Vallejo; son and daughter-in-law, Lester and Barbara of Vacaville; brother, Ted Scheule of Clancy, Mont.; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William in 1980; and a daughter, Lauretta, in 1986.

Arrangements were handled by Skyview Memorial Lawn, Vallejo.

Tomasa Sinnaco Pastor

Mrs. Tomasa Sinnaco Pastor, 83, a 19-year resident of Fairfield, died at her home on July 20, 2000, after a long period of illness.

Born in Tayug, Pangasinan in the Philippines on Nov. 24, 1916, Mrs. Pastor was a homemaker for most of her adult life, raising six sons and two daughters, many of whom live in Solano County.

A vigil service will be held for her at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home on Sunday at 7 p.m. A Christian mass and burial, officiated by Rev. Luciano Valenzuela, will follow at 10 a.m. Monday in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1050 North Texas Street, Fairfield.

Visitations will be held Saturday and Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home at 1850 West Texas Street in Fairfield.

Mrs. Pastor is survived by six sons, Valentin of Fresno, Warlito of Fairfield, Jose of the Philippines, Hermogenes of San Jose, and Conrado Amor and Jovencio, both of Suisun; and two daughters, Flordeliza of Fresno and Trinidad Baniqued of Fairfield; 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by sisters Prudencio Sinnaco and Maxima Espiritu, both of the Philippines, as well as her brother Sinforiano Sinnaco of Florida.
