Kenneth A. Skillicorn Jr.

Kenneth Albert Skillicorn Jr., 71, of Watsonville, died of emphysema Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at his home.
He was born icon in Watsonville and returned to Watsonville following his retirement. He graduated from Watsonville Union High School in 1948 and was among the first students to attend Monterey Peninsula College. He won scholarships to the California School of Fine Art and the Art Institute of San Francisco.

After military service, he was a display manager with several major J.C. Penney Co. stores including the main San Francisco location. Following his retirement, he taught art at the Adult Evening School in Watsonville and became a commercial artist. He was a primary graphic artist for Freedom Press and P&M Business Services.

He loved movies, music, books and pursued interests in creative arts, craft making, quilting and cooking.

Military service: Army during the Korean War.

Survivors: Daughter, Kathleen Skillicorn of San Francisco; sister, Betty Cahoon of Stockton; brothers, Jack Skillicorn of Carmel and Dale Skillicorn of Watsonville; aunts, Dorothy Skillicorn and Alice Freiermuth, both of Watsonville; and nieces and nephews, Keith Cahoon of Tokyo, Japan; JoAnn Flores and Beverly Cahoon, both of Stockton, Diana Garcia of Brunswick, Maine; Jeanette Hughes of Castroville, Kenneth Dale Tyler of Kerrville, Texas, Margaret L.S. Basa of Salinas and Mark Skillicorn of Oak Park, Ill.

Services: Memorial services 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at Skillicorn Ranch, 429 Trafton Road, Watsonville.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the Skillicorn Fund for Tobacco Control, Research and Education Efforts at the UCSF Foundation, 44 Montgomery St., Suite 2200, San Francisco 94104 or American Lung Association.

Arrangements: Davis Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St., Watsonville.

Antonio SN Tenorio

Antonio SN Tenorio, 68, of Marina, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born icon in Sinajania, Guam, and lived in Marina for 37 years. He was a retired production supervisor with Couroc of Monterey. He enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Military service: U.S. Army, Korean War.

Survivors: Wife of 42 years, Elfriede Tenorio of Marina; sons, David Tenorio of Chicago Park and Tracy Tenorio of Auburn; daughter, Cornelia Lyons of San Jose; brothers, Jesus Tenorio of Clarksville, Tenn., and John Tenorio, Magarito Tenorio and Francisco Tenorio, all of Guam; sisters, Pricilla Rodriguez and Josephine Arceo, both of Guam; and five grandchildren.

Services: Memorial service 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas.

Memorials: Donor's favorite charity.

Eileen Louise Lewis

Eileen Louise Lewis, 77, of Salinas, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Gilroy Health Care Facility after a brief illness.
She was born icon in Maryville, Ill., and lived in Salinas for 37 years. She was a supervisor in the communications department at Fort Ord for 18 years, and following her retirement worked in home-care nursing for 10 years. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and volunteering for church activities.

Memberships: First United Methodist Church of Salinas and Our Savior's Bible Quilting Club.

Survivors: Son, Robert J. (Arlana) Lewis Jr. of Gilroy; brothers, Al Cordani of League City, Texas, Mel Cordani of Witt., Ill., and Angelo Cardani of Staunton, Ill.; sisters, Nonnie Dal Pazzo of Saunton, Lorraine McMahon of Collinsville, Ill., and Gerry Polley of Springfield, Ill.; granddaughters, Jennifer Lewis of Salinas and Allison Lewis of Gilroy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: Memorial services 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at First United Methodist Church in Salinas.

Placement of ashes: Gavilan Cemetery, Gilroy.

Anargyros 'Roger' Antonopoulos

Anargyros "Roger" Antonopoulos of San Jose, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in San Jose He was 80.
He was born icon in Greece and lived in San Jose.

He was a restaurateur.

Military service: OSS and U.S. Army in World War II.

Memberships: President of the Parish Counsel at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, a Scottish rite mason and shriner.

Survivors: Wife, Patricia A. Antonopoulos; children, Stacy Pantayotopoulous, Athan "Thom" Antonopoulos, Joanne Cox and Nick Antonopoulos; siblings, Evangelos Antonopoulos, Spiros Antonopoulos, Eleuterios Antonopoulos, George Antonopoulos, Chris Antonopoulos and Popi Andritsakis; grandchildren, George, Argyri, Peter, Paul, Jaclyn, Tina, Sam, Michael, Patricia, Roger, Nicole, Dianne and Roger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 3 p.m. today, Oct. 29, at Lima Family-Erickson, 710 Willow St., San Jose.

Trisagion services: 7:30 p.m. today, Oct. 29, at the mortuary.

Services: 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the mortuary, following to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church for services at 10 a.m.

Burial: Following at Mission City Memorial Park.

Memorials: St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church building fund.

Miguel Y. Martinez

Miguel Y. Martinez, 72, of Gonzales, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born icon in Corcoran and lived in Gonzales since 1932.

Military service: Army, in Korean War.

Survivors: Brothers, David Martinez, Pete Martinez and Sam Martinez; all of Gonzales; sister, Lupe Martinez of Bakersfield.

Mass: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at St. Theodore's Church, 116 S. Belden St., Gonzales.

Burial: Gonzales cemetery.

Manuel P. Raposa

Manuel P. Raposa, 86, of Salinas, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born icon in New Bedford, Mass., and lived in Salinas. He was self-employed as a dairy farmer. He loved gardening with his grandchildren, cooking for his family, deer hunting, making wine and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his son, John Raposa, and grandson, Sean Nicholas OShea Raposa.

Memberships: Past president AFDES, Luso-American, past-president IDES, member of St. Anthony's, Sons in Retirement and St. Mary of the Nativity Church.

Survivors: Wife of 61 years, Elvera Raposa of Salinas; son, Manuel (Terry) Raposa Jr. of Newark; daughters, Elvera (Joe) Moitoso of Marina, Bettye (Ralph) Olea of Salinas, Marie (Gary) Fernendes of San Jose and Tina (Kerry) Sloan of Beckworth; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Whitehurst Muller Funeral Service, East Alisal Street and Pajaro Street, Salinas.

Rosary: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the mortuary chapel.

Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1702 Second Ave., Salinas.

Burial: Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Edna P. Mejia

Edna P. Mejia, 85, of Salinas, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born icon in Wayne County, Ohio, and lived in Salinas for 53 years. She was a homemaker and in her younger years worked in the fishing canneries in Moss Landing and on Cannery Row in Monterey. She attended St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Mejia, in March 1999.

Survivors: Sons, John Mejia of Las Vegas, Nev., Jessie Mejia of Salinas, Charles Mejia of Sonora and Nick Mejia of Oroville; daughter, Anna Magallon of Salinas; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 29, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Rosary: 7 p.m. today, Oct. 29, at the mortuary chapel.

Services: Final visitation 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the mortuary chapel followed by procession to St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1702 Second Ave., Salinas for the funeral Mass at 10 a.m.

Burial: Following at Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Isabel Gonzalez

Isabel Gonzalez, 20, of King City, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, after a shooting.
She was born icon in King City and was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Dionicio Gonzalez.

Survivors: Daughters, Emily, Cassandra and Isabel Gonzalez, of King City; parents, Juan Gonzalez of Yuma, Ariz., and Leticia Pacheco of King City; brother, Giovani Gonzalez of King City; sister, Isele Gonzalez of King City; maternal grandparents, Rosario Carallo and Guadalupe Gonzalez, both of Calexico; paternal grandmother, Librada Gonzalez of Somerton, Ariz.; numerous aunts, uncles.

Visitation: 4 to 8:30 p.m. today, Oct. 29, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City.

Rosary: 6 p.m. today, Oct. 29, at the church.

Mass: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the church.

Burial: Following at King City cemetery.

Yukie Grubbs

Yukie Grubbs, 77, of Salinas, died of natural causes Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at her home.
She was born icon in Gifu Ken, Japan, and was a housekeeper with Laurel Inn. She loved to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking and dancing. She was a loving and caring person with good humor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershell Eugene Grubbs.

Survivors: Sons, Shinji Grubbs and Junji Grubbs, both of Salinas, and Bobby Grubbs of Palmdale; daughter, Reiko Perez of Salinas; grandchildren, Antonio Grubbs, Hiroshi Grubbs, Yoshiro Grubbs, Yukie M. Grubbs and Michael Rocha, all of Salinas, Elizabeth Orona of Dinuba and Yvette Perez of Greenfield; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Whitehurst Terry Funeral Chapel, 395 East St., Soledad.

Rosary: 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at the mortuary chapel.

Mass: 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Our Lady of Solitude Church, 235 Main St., Soledad.

Diana Lynn Rocha

Diana Lynn Rocha, 35, of Prunedale, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in an automobile accident.
She was born icon in Tulare and was a lifelong resident of Monterey County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors: Sons, Jared DuBose and Austin DuBose, both of Salinas; parents, Frank and Norma Rocha of Gardnerville, Nev.; and sister, Paula Rocha of Gardnerville.

Services: Memorial services 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Harbor Chapel, 620 Dolan Road, Castroville.

Placement of ashes: Oakwood Memorial Park, Chatsworth.

Josefa L. Rodriguez

Josefa L. Rodriguez, 86, of Castroville, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at her residence.
She was born icon in Guadalajara, Mexico, and lived in Castroville. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Salvador, in 1986.

Memberships: Our Lady of Refuge Parish

Survivors: Sons, Carlos Rodriguez and Vicente Rodriguez, both of Castroville, and Francisco Rodriguez of Salinas; and daughters, Ines Avelar and Maria de Jesus Rodriguez, both of Castroville, and Maria Luz Hernandez and Rosalia Fernandez, both of Calexico, Mexico.
