Marilyn Carol Little
1934-2004

Memorial services will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Los Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. for Marilyn Carol Little. Burial services will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.

Marilyn was the loving daughter of Mary C. Walton Little and Paul H. Little, Sr. She was born on Feb. 7, 1934 in Denver,  Colo. and died on Aug. 26, 2004 in Los Angeles. She was loved by all that knew her and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Harold Jr. and sisters, Marcella and Dorothy.

She is survived by her brother, Leo F. Little; nephew, Robert; nieces, Dolores Jones, Sharon Warford, Carol Torres, Cherie Konrad, Terri Conrad, Candy Bremmer, Cathy and Paula Little and numerous grand-nieces and grandnephews.

Melburn "Mel" Stine
1912-2004

Private memorial services were held for Melburn Stine. Interment will be in Mountain View Niche Garden in Reno, Nev.

Mel was born on June 2, 1912 in Eureka. he lived most of his married life in Sierra Madre and his retirement years in Bishop, Reno, Nev and Ridgefield, Wash. He was 92 years old when he died on Aug. 30, 2004.

Mel's employment was always related to the aircraft industry, working in engineering departments at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, Conn.; Douglas Aircraft in El Segundo; Vultee Aircraft in Downey Aerojet Engineering in Azuza and Space General in El Monte. He retired to Bishop in 1970 and for the next 20 years he was in partnership with Henry Walker in Inyo County building houses, apartments and storage units. He also volunteered his services to many organizations; civic, community, political and church. He moved to Reno, Nev. in 1990 and then to Ridgefield, Wash. in 1996 to be closer to family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Billie.

He is survived by his three sons, Peter of Albuquerque, N.M., Christopher of Portland, Ore. and Jonathan of Brush Prairie, Wash.; one daughter, Judith Sutera of Battle Ground, Wash.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Tawny Barnes
1953-2004

Memorial services will be held at a later date for Gail Ann Tawni Barnes.

Tawny was 50 years old when she died at her parents' home in Independence. She was born on Sept. 25, 1953 in Barstow to Wayne Arthur and Elva Harris Barnes, and died on Sept. 2, 2004.

She attended local schools and graduated from Barstow High School. She attended Santa Barbara City College and later lived in Santa Cruz to become a professional house painter.

Tawny came to the Owens Valley in 1986. She enjoyed art and painting as well as horseback riding and dogs. She had many friends in the Owens Valley who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Barnes. Tawny is survived by her mother and stepfather, Elva Newman and Robert Newman of Independence; brother, Fay Lynn Barnes of Barstow; and one niece and a nephew.

Bruce Frank Harmon

1951-2004

A Celebration of Life for four-year Bishop resident Bruce Frank Harmon will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at the home of Lucinda Yandell (299 S. Barlow Ln., at the end of Billy Williams Road) in Bishop.

Born in Heburn, Neb. on July 9, 1951 to Paul and Bess Harmon, Bruce died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004 in Reno, Nev. after an extended illness. He was 53.

Bruce was a wonderful man who will be remembered by his winning smile, and his quiet and generous manner. "We who loved him will miss him greatly," family and friends said.

Bruce lived in Long Beach for 26 years and in Bishop for four. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 10 years, Janet Yandell Harmon; son, Aaron, grandson, Dillon, and granddaughter, Katie, all of Long Beach; brother and sister-in-law, Mel and Lee Harmon of  Washington; two nieces; and numerous relatives, in-laws and friends in Bishop.

Meghan Julie Riggs

1986-2004

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bishop for life-long Bishop resident Meghan Julie Riggs. Fr. John Gracey will officiate. Interment will be at East Line Street Cemetery, with Rev. Dan Willson of the First Presbyterian Church conducting graveside services.

Born in Bishop on Oct. 21, 1986, Meghan, or Julie, as she was called, died Aug. 19, 2004 at Mammoth Hospital following an automobile accident. She was 17.

Julie was a 2004 graduate of Bishop Union High School and planned to enroll in fall classes at Cerro Coso Community College. Julie can be remembered as a beautiful, loving and very outgoing young lady, whose carefree smile will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Julie is survived by her mother, Mary Ellen Zaragoza; father and stepmother, Michael and Joni Riggs; sisters, Karen Lee and McKenzie Rae Riggs; grandparents, Adie and Alex Zaragoza and Mike and Karen Riggs; great-grandmother, Tomasa Zaragoza; great-grandfather, Earl Emery; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A scholarship fund has been established in Julie's name at Union Bank of California, 362 N. Main St., Bishop, CA 93514.

Eugene 'Gene' Perkins

1924-2004

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop for 24-year Bishop resident Eugene "Gene" Perkins, age 80.

The Rev. Dr. Karen Moore, Winnedumah Lodge No. 287, Free and Accepted Masons and VFW Post No. 8988 will officiate.

Born in Los Angeles on Jan. 5, 1924 to Eugene and Irene Perkins, Gene died Aug. 18, 2004 at his residence in Bishop.

After finishing high school, Gene enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1943. He served in Italy as a bombadier and nose gunner for 50 missions over Germany.

Gene married Barbara Sorensen in 1945 and then entered the banking business, continuing in that field in both Northern and Southern California until his retirement in 1989. Gene and his wife moved to Bishop in 1981, and Gene continued to work in various capacities in Bishop, including being elected city treasurer and serving from 1997-2003.

He was a member of VFW Lodge No. 8988 of Bishop, Winneduma Masonic Lodge No. 287 and the Kerak Shrine Club of Reno, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Perkins of Bishop, in 2001.

Gene is survived by his wife, Barbara Perkins of Bishop; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Lisa Perkins of Bishop; daughter and son-in-law, B.J. and Bob Hayner of Lone Pine; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Perkins of Minden, Nev.; three grandsons, Andrew, Jason and Alexander Perkins; three granddaughters, Heidi Hayner of Lone Pine, Pauline Ross of Santa Maria and Katherine Gray of Dayton, Nev.; two great-granddaughters; a brother of  Whitehorn and a sister of Hollywood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations in Gene's name can be made to the Inyo-Mono Shrine Club, for Children's Hospital, 415 Ranch Rd., Bishop, CA 93514.
