David M. Williams
March 20, 1920 - January 17, 2018

David M. Williams, 97, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in Salinas, California with his family by his side.
Born in Rialto, California, Dave grew up on a citrus ranch, where he developed his passion for farming. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition. Following his graduation, he was employed by the UC Agricultural Extension Service as a Farm Advisor. In 1947 Dave moved to Salinas where he met and married the love of his life, Margaret Helen Prausa. He accepted a position with Bruce Church Company, and remained there over 25 years. After leaving Bruce Church, Dave founded Eagle Research and Development, where he focused on lettuce breeding and various agricultural innovations. He devoted his lifetime to agriculture research and development for the benefit of the industry and in 2012, Dave was inducted into the National Steinbeck Center Hall of Fame.
Dave proudly served in the US Army 34th Infantry during WWII and was a decorated veteran awarded the Purple Heart.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret. He is survived by his children, David M. Williams III, Kathleen Haines, Barbara Williams, Blaine (Brook) Williams, Martha (Tony) Cava, and Tom Williams. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St. Salinas, CA 93901
Funeral service will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 15 Railroad Ave., Spreckels, CA.

Efren Medriano Millaris

Efren Medriano Millaris, 58, from Salinas, passed away on February 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family by his side. He was born on June 24, 1959 in Salinas. Efren worked as a master mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his father, Isabelo, in 1984
He is survived by his mother; Corazon, brothers; Bill (Emilia), Jim (Amy), Jerry, and sister; Shirley Umamoto (Greg). He has 10 nieces and nephews and numerous great friends.
Visitation will be held 12:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
Followed with a Celebration of Life Service, Friday 5p.m. February 9, 2018 at Struve and Laporte Chapel.
Burial will be 9:00a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Prunedale, CA. 93907.

Mario Osuna
October 28, 1958 - January 24, 2018

Resided in San Jose, California
Mario Osuna 59, of San Jose, Ca. went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 24, 2018.
He was born to Natividad S. and Mary Osuna on October 28, 1958.
He was an avid Raiders Fan, enjoyed going to games with friends and family, tailgating and meeting new friends along the way.
Mario loved to travel, thru his jobs or on his own, with family and friends. Some of his favorite spots being Hawaii, Reno, Paris, Vegas, Lake Tahoe or anywhere new. Mario was someone who loved to go out and try new foods or restaurants. He loved to BBQ at home or come to Salinas, he would say "the more the merrier" He loved spending time and talking with his many nieces and nephews, he will be dearly missed.
He graduated from Alisal High School and San Jose State University with his BA in business. Mario was a member of Phi Delta Theta.
He lived in the Silicon Valley for the last 40 years. He was employed with Execuforce and Home Depot. During his lifetime he enjoyed working with Corporate Companies.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Natividad S. Osuna, Mom, Mary Osuna and his brothers, Albert, Rene, Mike and Florencio Osuna.
Mario is survived by his sisters, Gloria Perez (Alfred), Josephine Schlapfer (Mike) of Salinas, Martha Santana (Ruben) Corona, CA, Brothers, Natividad Osuna Jr of North Carolina, Alonzo Osuna of Salinas, Gilberto Osuna of Mexicali, Mex., his two sister in laws, Margarita Osuna of San Jose and Alicia Osuna of Calexico, Ca.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 PM. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Struve and Laporte Mortuary, 41 West San Luis Street, Salinas, Ca 93901. Rosary Service will be held at 7 PM.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St, Salinas, Ca 93901.

Molly B. Nelson
March 5, 1937 - January 26, 2018

Resided in Salinas, California
Molly Nelson, long time resident of Salinas, passed away on January 26th, 2018. She was born to Manuel and Ramona Sanchez on March 5, 1937.
Molly graduated from Salinas High School in 1955. She had a career in retail and banking.
She married the love of her life, Larry Nelson on November 24th, 1955. They renewed their vows after 50 years of marriage in Maui, Hawaii. Larry and Molly were happily married for 63 years, and their love, respect, admiration and devotion toward one another was apparent to everyone who knew them.
Friends and family were Molly’s love and joy. Molly loved holidays and family gatherings and hosted countless Christmas Eves and Thanksgivings. She was adored by her children and grandchildren and was thrilled to be “Grammy” to her three great grandchildren.
Molly jumped into life whole heartedly, enjoying her annual trips to Hawaii with Larry, taking trips with her sisters and visiting her daughter who lives out of state.
Molly is survived by her beloved husband Larry, her sister Gloria Nelson, her three children Steve, Dave and Sandy, her grandchildren Nick and Mandy and her great grandchildren Dustin, Clayton, and Alabama.
Molly will be missed by all that knew and loved her. She was an extraordinary woman who touched the lives of all who met her.
Family and friends will gather at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901 on February 3rd, 2018 at 11 am.

Roy C. Reyes
April 14, 1931 - February 2, 2018

Resided in Salinas, California
Roy C. Reyes, retired Army Sergeant Major, a native of Doña Ana, New Mexico, and long-time resident of Salinas, California, passed away on Friday, 2 February, at 86 years of age after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Roy was born on April 14, 1931, in Doña Ana, New Mexico. He joined the US Army on October 1948 and served his country loyally until his retirement on May 31, 1976, at Fort Ord, California. During his impressive 27 year Army career, he served two tours in Vietnam. His numerous decoration and service medals included the Silver Star, Bronze Star with V device for valor during combat and one oak leaf cluster, Purple Heart with three oak leaf clusters, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Air Medal (Vietnam), Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army of Occupation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal with 10 oak leaf clusters. Roy was a life member of the 1st Cavalry Division Association, Disabled American Veterans, Elk’s Lodge 641, and American Legion Post 31.
Following his military retirement, Roy spent 20 years working as a carrier for the US Postal Service, delivering mail and making many friends in Seaside, California. He and his wife traveled the world together, including cruises around the Caribbean and down the rivers in Russia. They also traveled all over Europe, including a whirlwind tour of Germany, France, and Italy with his adult children. Roy and his wife maintained a summer home in Clearlake, California, and enjoyed many extended vacations there over the years.
Roy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marianne Bauer Reyes, of Salinas, California; son, Robert R. Reyes and wife Mary Jane of Lorton, Virginia; son, Michael A. Reyes and wife Brenda of Carmichael, California; daughter, Rita Ann Petersen and husband Colonel Kenneth Petersen, USMC Retired, of Salinas, California. He was blessed with two grandchildren: Captain William M. Reyes, West Virginia Army National Guard, and his wife Gelila, of Savannah, Georgia; and McKenna Petersen, of Salinas, California. He is also survived by one sister, Eva Minjares of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and one brother, Senon Reyes, of Doña Ana, New Mexico. He was pre-deceased by his father, Vicente Reyes, his mother, Apolonia Cuaron Reyes, and four brothers: Arnulfo, Vicente Jr., Teodoro, and Gregorio Reyes.
Roy leaves a legacy of love and a generous and caring heart for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
At Roy's request, there will be no viewing or religious service. A private interment is planned at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Salinas, California. Donations in his honor may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org) or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (https://www.themmrf.org).
